I'm in to continue, yes. I haven't had much time to fully immerse myself in to games before, and now that time permits, I don't want to waste it.

Is it to be made in this game? Curious as to where everyone is at.

Subject: Ahvir

Ahvir stayed near the rear, preferring not to let anyone out of his sight as they marched.mhe kneww it was safer when you could see everyone, so he casually fell in line at the end, grinning beneath his scarf. This would be an intesting encounter, and an interesting travel. He was quite looking forward to it.

When a halt was called, however, and the rustling of someone coming could be heard, Ahvir quickly reached to his side and pulled out one of his daggers in hand, and stopped midway to pulling out the second dagger before he saw the creature was interacting with Aleya in a peaceful manner. Sliding his drawn dagger back in to his sheath, he listened intently to make sure it wasn't an ambush. But, it seemed as though it was simply a new person to accompany them. Fine. Ahvir could live with that.

With the sound of the braying, the dark skinned woman who was being courted by the knight suggested going to locate whatever was causing the noise. Ahvir shrugged and added on, "And if all else fails we eat the damn thing. I'll support your efforts to locate it, if you provide a direction with which to start looking. That sound came from everywhere."

Ahvir kept darting his eyes back to the new member of the group... Strange, he almost seemed feline. Ah well, all sorts in this group. And all sorts that would fall in line.

Subject: Oh some people...

Ahvir stood by in silence as the halfling was vocally, as well as mildly physically, attacked by Aleya. The fool had attempted to seem funny, he was sure, by pretending not to have listened, but he was clearly as good at humour as the other people in Ahvir's old group were... Terrible.

"Time and a place... Time and place..."

However, he wasn't stupid either. He wasn't going to comment aloud on the actions of the man. He could be whatever he wanted. He could be trained... After all, he was chosen for some reason... After all, every army to lay a siege needs those at the front who do what they're told when the hot oil is poured over the walls.

Ahvir had worked briefly in the seelie and unseelie courts. He knew when to show a reaction to something and when not to. And now, in the middle of disciplining, was not the time. And so, he stood stoically until Paagdish began to speak.

"Ugh, finally, a distraction."

“Mission not about fun. Mission about survival and victory. Soon as is decided if short one keeps ears and go with us, we leave. Through mountain to Belja for supply. Tell name and what best at. Then we go.”

Ahvir listened, waiting for a break that was just long enough, but not too long in people's conversations. "I am Ahvir, and one might say I'm the favourite of the peopleses. I'm a... reasonable performer, and can charm the answerses out of most peopleses... one way or another. I can usually sniff up an answer or two about most anything that is of use in a town. I know the street ratses, or at least the locationses of them for the info. I'm better at avoiding conflict, but I have my own fashion of dealing with them, as well as inspiring otherses to levelses and featses of greatness." At that was where he left it. Aloud anyway.

"Levels like mine." echoed through his head, however.

When everyone had given their introduction, Ahvir looks back at Paagdish, eagerly awaiting the order to move out.

Subject: Hmm... Ransack the town eh?

Ahvir subconsciously swayed back and forth in place as Aleya gave them the details of their current objective. It was just a natural feeling of a pulse in time with her voice as she spoke. He did it whenever there was someone talking, singing, playing an instrument for an extended period of time.

"Simple enough, I suppose." Ahvir though to himself. "Get in, stay in, kill everyone who says nay. Or so it seems..."

But of course, there was one thing which could not be ignored... What was in it for him? She never mentioned any sort of reward. Time to see what he could get...

"Lady Aleya," Ahvir begins with a bow, but never breaking eye contact with her. He rights himself and continues. "The village, of course, shall be yours. But many citizenses who live in these villageses have some treasureses that they leave unattended, or at least won't need them when they've found their graveses. Would it be entirely unreasonable to take those treasureses as payment, as there has been no mention of pay? Am I to assume that it is... Finderses, keeperses?"

Ahvir's small lisp was prominent from behind his cloak, and he found delight in pluralizing words for a second time... It reminded him of his father and mother. But they had taken off, as Jaebrin parents do, and left him to fend for himself only a few years ago. But still, memories are memories.

It seemed as though they were about to be joined by someone too, as Ahvir saw a knight coming through the morning mists to come join them. Hearing their new 'commander' growl at the newcomer, Ahvir shifted his stance so that one of his daggers was close at hand... One could never tell with there knight types in shiny armour if they were on the human side, or no. However, it seemed he was on the right side, as he calmly spoke to Aleya, talking about Bonestaff with no sense of fear, or reverence. Obviously, another high up one.

Ahvir was shocked though, as he got off his horse, and went to one of the others in Ahvir's position, and laid himself out like that. "How embarrassing. At least have some tact. Some high up captain you are." Ahvir frowned underneath his scarf. Hopefully not all of the commanders were as tactless and easily swayed as this one.

Meanwhile, Ahvir turned his thoughts to Maple Ridge, and Belja's Nook as well. He was somewhat unfamiliar with the area, so instead of seeing the knight embarrass himself more, he instead racked his brain, to try and think of whatever her could about these places.*

As the lean, muscular, warrior in their own ranks spoke, Ahvir tuned back in.

"Going through the mountainses shall take us to another town, where we can ask around at what kind of defenceses Maple Ridge has in place. Knowing that, we can also grab supplieses to better be able to do what we need to do. I vote the mountainses; cold isn't too bad as long as we don't go near the peakses. And if we have to, so be it."

------

*OoC: I don't know much about these towns, so Ahvir's going to use his Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (nobility), as well as his Bardic Knowledge to see if he can find anything out, as well as what common knowledge there is about the place.

Subject: Entrance, stage left...

Ahvir sat in the mess hall a little longer than he normally would've tonight. He'd just gotten word that something special was going to happen. About bloody time, he was clearly the better option out of all of these common folk who claimed to do similar things to him. They tried. But only Ahvir had the grace, the intellect, and the cunning that was truly required in the art.

"Heh, and the lookses. Never forget the lookses."

So instead of excusing himself to his chambers, Ahvir decided to stay out late, and put on a show for all those who had come to call him friend. His shows were unique as well too: some sang, some played instruments, some tried to do both. But Ahvir was able to mimic drums with his mouth. And cymbals. And... Well, most everything. Adding in a hum here and there, maybe a few words, and he was able to simulate at least three bards doing their musical work. Some said it was because of his heritage, and it likely was. After all, Ahvir was not humanoid, like these folk were.

After his performance however, he excused himself. He slipped out, his nimble, lithe body almost gliding across the ground as he moved with precision to his chambers. Tomorrow was going to be a big day. It was going to be the stuff of legends. And he was going to be a part of it, and capture the tale. This was going to be his moment. This was going to be the stuff that was sung of for the rest of his life... And Ahvir was going to be the first to tell of it.

Ahvir strapped on his armour before he went to bed. It was light enough to be worn whilst sleeping, and he had no desire to waste any time tomorrow. He would be there before the sun rose, waiting for the others. He also strapped a few of his daggers to the insides of his legs, should anything happen in the middle of the night. Finally, Ahvir gathered his things, packed them neatly in his backpack, then laid that beneath his head. It was hardly enough to break anything. And he let his eyes close, imagining what tomorrow would bring.

~~~
Ahvir woke with the dim light that dawn brought. Without a word, he stood, lifted his bag up to his shoulder, and wrapped his scarf around his neck so that it covered his mouth. It wasn't the prettiest feature of his, but it had a beautiful gift. He didn't wish to frighten the other with his fangs, so he would keep them hidden... For now.
Calmly striding in the brisk morning, feeling the dew on his feet, Ahvir arrived where the designated meeting point was. He saw others there already. So there was more than he that had been called... Great. At least they weren't from his group. Anything to get away from those sorry louts. Ahvir calmly strode in and joined the crowd, calmly appraising the others in the group, as well as the two they faced.
Lady Aleya's voice rang clear throughout the group. Ahvir tried to maintain eye contact, but it was too intense, he had to look away every now and then... Which he despised. But he still understood her words. They were chosen for something great, just as he had thought. Time for things to get real interesting.
At her inquiry about questions, Ahvir waited until the others ask. A hobgoblin - quite obviously a fighter with his muscle build - asked the only question that mattered at this point. When the Lady looked to Ahvir for his question, he simply replied, "Less questionses than a dwarf with a full tankard of ale, my lady."
While I love delving in to ideas and topics such as this, and a game such as this as well I think would be quite intriguing if executed correctly, I don't necessarily subscribe to the christian/roman catholic viewpoint on religion. I'll role-play it for sure, but any game, debate, or topic that has religious undertones must always be run with a grain of salt, and should be planned out very well as to how deep it goes. I think that there is great campaign potential basing something in the dark ages, but in order to evoke religious undertones, though it adds a great depth to the gameplay, could be hazardous.
This, of course, is my 2 cents.
How Christian themed is it, and what might the game be about? If you could post more info, it would probably get more responses for or against.
Xavier looked around the room, somewhat taken aback by the clutter. It was amazing that a man could live with so many possessions, but to live with them in such a cluttered way? None should live like that...
Xavier shook his head as he began to look at everything in the room. He didn't even to know where to begin, and yet his companion was already tearing in to everything that was held within the tower. Xavier had no idea how she knew such mess, but he didn't stop her. The sooner she found something, the sooner they could return, and the sooner he could go out looking for his sister. He hoped.
"Hey, is there anything you want me to start looking through? I don't even know where to start... This place is a mess."
Xavier snuck along behind the woman, moving quietly from location to location, trying to remain out of sight. She didn't seem to be noticing, and that was good. He was starting to doubt his abilities, having been caught by the meagre workers in the king's abode. This seemed to be going better though.
Looking ahead though, Xavier saw someone approaching the woman, and he was forced to duck behind a building. After a brief conversation, the two went their separate ways... Xavier had to pause a bit longer to permit the king's man to walk by, but then continued his pursuit.
He came to the base of a tower, creeping closer... Only to freeze in his spot as the woman turned and addressed him. Xavier cursed under his breath. He was getting lazy, his mind focused too much on the possibility of finding something.
"Being polite is something that is overlooked in this world. It would be, but in the end, I've accomplished the same thing. And you seem to be okay with it, regardless. So I shall help you... After all, I'm bloody curious, and there's no where else in this city that would have answers..."
Xavier walked up, shedding his silent charade - not that it seemed to matter these days - and approached the tower with the woman. After a brief pause in the entranceway, the woman turned back and spoke again, introducing herself. Xavier bowed, and responded, "'Tis my pleasure to meet you Arathyra. I am called Xavier, and I'm looking forward to searching this tower... Hopefully it'll have salvation."
Subject: Oh where oh where are the secrets held...
Xavier jumped a little when someone coughed behind him. The silent bugger caught him off guard, probably because Xavier was thinking too much about what the king could want. He was ushered in, and quickly took a look around.
Hmm... he mused to himself. Not the best of the best I was expecting... Oh well, maybe some of them have their strong suits. In the mean time, I better keep them all in sight. Xavier fondled the dagger at his hip casually, making sure it was at the ready should things go to the Abyss.
He stood patiently as the kind spoke. Lack of water, lack of food, lack of life, Xavier agreed with. But it was bloody hot, so Xavier didn't know where no heat was coming from. But just when Xavier thought the king was missing the point, then came his request; search the town for evidence of food or water, or anything of the sort.
Xavier stood dumbstruck while the other's voiced their discontent, save one or two who seemed like they would lay down their lives for the king, one of them actually calling out the others on their lack of devotion. Finally, when it seemed there was a bit of a lull, Xavier opened his mouth, staring straight at the king, and not bowing.
"Okay. In all due fairness your highness, I'm going to think this through here. What have we, as citizens, got to hide? Nothing. So the fruits of our labour - pardon the expression - would lend what to the cause? I'm going to assume very little. In any case I hope very much so that you have a backup plan in place in case we find the very likely nothing. However, such is life, and so I shall take off... Maybe even to find something."
Xavier backed away from the rest of the individuals gathered there, keeping one eye on the woman who had barked so loudly at the rest of the group, because Xavier knew that there were secrets there... In her master's chambers. If the king referred to them with the statement 'we have no choice' then there had to be something in there... The problem is finding where they were. So once Xavier had backed out of the castle, he got in to a vantage point and hid, waiting until the woman left as well, then following her from nooks and crannies in the buildings to rooftops if need be until he found where she was going. There would be secrets. There would be hope.
Xavier gave a sigh he made sure would be audible. "Alright, well, wish the king luck on his quest... He's going to need it to find the best of the best you speak of."
With that Xavier went silent, not even replying to anything that the messenger said, waiting until he left, in the same speed as the initial hurrying on the road. Xavier counted to five after he disappeared, then sat upright, to make sure he had taken off. Then Xavier leapt from the building, down to the ground.
"So the king's looking for people eh? I might want to get what I can out of this..." Xavier thought to himself. He started walking, calmly but quickly, toward the attempt at a castle the kind had made himself. There might be answers there...
...
...
...
Arriving at the castle, Xavier made his best effort to remain hidden, as he creeped further and further along the corridors of the castle, trying to get within earshot of the conversation... He thought he heard something as he walked further and further in, coming to rest just outside a door, ears perked.
(OoC: I will edit if I need to, but essentially, I'm going to try and sneak close enough to hear, but stay out of sight.)
Xavier let a little chuckle escape him. The king was looking for the best? This sorry fort was hardly something that would qualify someone as king, and best was very relative in this tiny fort.
"What for? Or is that kingly secrecy at it's finest, he's not even telling you?"
Though Xavier sounded disinterested, his mind began working on overdrive. What did the king want the best for? Was it an exploration? A search for other lands? A mass execution so that nobody would take control? Or something else entirely? Xavier had to just wait and see. Maybe this would be worth his while...
A dry breeze floated by Xavier as he perched on the roof of his building. Dry like everything else... The food, the land, the air... All of it was barren, and Xavier was right in the middle of it. It was not changing any time soon, and it was beginning to upset him. He needed to find moisture, but he never found anything. Just like he hadn't found anything in his previous searches.
There was nothing here but people. And the people he talked to didn't have the answers he needed. And if worse came to worst, Xavier knew that he would have to leave. Take off in to the unknown, hoping to find something there. But for now, the best option was not to be a complete idiot, and hang tight in the fort... Who knew, something may come up.
And as though wishful thinking were what turned the universe, Xavier caught sight of someone running down the road passing by his building. The fool was wasting energy, which meant he was either a nitwit, or was desperately searching for something... Or someone. Whatever the case, it piqued Xavier's interest, and he had to dive in... Well, not literally. He laid back on the roof as to conserve his energy and called out.
"Are you trying to waste energy, or is something that important that it requires you to run around like a fool in this blasted heat?"
Subject: Okay, so... Just checking in?
I put up the first post in the game last week, as a feeling the water intro post, making sure everyone was still here, ready to introduce themselves to the group... And there are no posts since then?
I suppose that's my bad. I probably should've PM'd you all letting you know that the thread was up, or at least linked this thread to it. So that is what this is for!
Everyone, the game thread is up, it is called "Bard's Song" and I have now made it linked to this thread.
And Loki, as per your request, I've put up what general knowledge there is about the invaders right now. Not everything is known about them, but there is a bit of general knowledge circulating.
For the first post from everyone, I don't need too much info, just making sure you all found the game thread, and maybe an introduction.
Any more questions, please ask.
