Topic: Of Dragons and Men Questions and Answers
Subject: Of Dragons and Men Questions and Answers

In the beginning, there was one being who existed apart from the gods. This being, this entity, was a mighty creature, which the gods had put much time and effort into perfecting. This creature... was Melios.

Yes, Melios. The old one. The scaled one.

The dragon.

Melios walked the world, and shaped it's land, such was his might. He burned holes through the ground for the lakes and oceans to appear, pushed the tectonic plates together to form the mountains, burned forests to make plains... all the world was made by him.

But one day, almost 2 millennia after Melios shaped this world... he became bored. He was the only one not a god, and he felt inadequate. He felt like less than he was. Was it not he who made this world? Was he not the gods perfect creation? Was he not Melios?

One day, Melios confronted these gods, demanding that he play a more important role in the world, and that lesser creatures were made so that he could rule over them. He demanded this of the gods, knowing they would not destroy their perfect creature.

However, while the gods were in the process of discussing, Olidammara stepped forward with a proposition.

The lizard wants to be something important? Let it be from him that we create the other creatures.

At first, the gods were shocked, but slowly, they saw the wisdom in Oli's words. If they gave Melios his own creatures to rule, he could think that he could push the gods around. And they couldn't have that.

Summoning Melios to their court, and using their divine power, they split him. No more was he Melios. Now, he was essence, to be given to the other creatures which the gods made. And so the gods sculpted creatures to give Melios' essence.

First, they made the Dinosaurs, finding it simple to make creatures similar to Melios, but with less essence, and twisting it slightly. Then, they created the animals, with still minimal essence, so as to prevent another Melios from happening. These animal's came along well, and the gods became more daring. They decided to attempt to create a population - not simply one - intelligent creature.

At first, they had no idea what it should look like. The dragon form, or a different form? And with that, the gods began to focus on creating an intelligent creature. And they succeeded... and so came the human.

The gods loved the humans. They took pride in their work, making each one different. Then they altered them slightly, making them weaker, but their senses more acute, and sturdier but slower, smaller, larger... but still they loved the human.

However, after they had covered the world in humans, and dinosaurs, and animals, and humans with some animal traits... they still had just under half of Melios original essence to use. They pondered...what else could they make? They could not decide. Humans, elves, dwarves... they sat listing everything they had invented. Nothing new came to mind. So they decided to use all the essence to create one final race... dragons.

So they were to be reborn. Similar to Melios, but with nowhere near his power. Many gods protested the idea, but quickly withdrew their protests as they could not decide what to make. After using up all of the essence, there were now as many dragons as humans that walked the world.

And so a peace came. Nobody knew of Melios, or what he had done. Nobody questioned where they came from. Every race lived in harmony.

But then the day came when man wanted power. Over everything. And so they attacked the other races suddenly, in an attempt to dominate them. This led to a long, bloody battle which lasted 500 years.

Suddenly, 10 great warriors came forth. Each carried a special weapon, unique to themselves. The ten of them, with magic and might, fought equally against both sides, in an attempt to end the war. And they succeeded, but with many casualties on both fronts, humanoid and dragon.

With their power, these 10 warriors crafted a immense building, and opened a gate to a new plane. They led the dragons to this plane, and sealed the portal forever. The gods, after observing what happened in their world, split the building from the rest of the continent, and buried it under the sea, so that nobody would find it.

These 10 warriors split shortly after this event. They moved to 10 distinct parts of the continent, forming the countries. The world now had defined borders based on its geography, for the first time.

Only a decade after the war however, temples began to rise, honoring Melios as creator of the world. Where they came from, and who founded them, nobody knows.

The year is now 539 NDE, or No Dragon Era. Welcome to the continent of Shrie. This is where you begin.

"Hmm... I'm somewhat hungry for more than a simple mouse... hey, that looks tasty." Fyet mutters to himself. Slinking off into the shadows, Fyet hides himself from his prey. Peeking around the corner so as to make sure that it doesn't see him, Fyet closes his eyes, feeling the change begin.

Fyet opened his eyes. Everything was so lower. Oh wait, he was just taller. Looking at his paw, which had now roughly tripled in size and contained deadly claws, Fyet decided that now was the time to take out the deer which he had been stalking. Jumping out from the bushes with a mighty roar, Fyet pounces on him, his new tiger form moving with a liquid fluidity. As he caught up to the deer, he swung with his paw and caught it directly across the face. Such power! The deer's neck spun around, it's neck snapped, and it fell to the ground.

No more pussy cat. In Fyet was now much larger, with stripes, and huge paws. Welcome the tiger within. Looking down at the deer, Fyet began to eat. The still warm flesh tasted delicious. And it was rather filling. Just what he was looking for.

Fyet let out a sigh. "Little child. I am the male amongst females, this I know. However, not all males are overcome with the desire to mate. I am here strictly on my own personal agenda and how it shares a common ground with your own. You three have nothing to worry about." Reaching out a paw, as large as the small cat's head. Fyet makes an attempt to pat Shard on the head. "I do not seek to harm you little one. I seek to help you."

"Alright, let's find out where these people are now... they might think that I've been captured by those foul communists. However, quite the contrary, I am free not captured, but trying to find them... hmm..."

Markus walks around, remembering them going to subsector 21. He started walking in that direction as he pulled out his PDA. He decided to message Jen, just because it was the first name that came up in his contact list.

Hey. I have a bit of news on the commies. Where are you now?

Pleasant Day,

Markus.

Send.

"Aye! Let's go, and mash these people, or things, or whatever! We'll make them scream for what they did! I like the sound of this!" Flexing his muscles as one might stretch theirs, and making his arms as thick as a gnome, he hefted his axe in one hand and rested it on his shoulder. "Show me where to go. I'll take it from there."

"Hunting is always a good time to discuss happenings. I shall accompany you on this excursion, and I also seek the hunt." Fyet falls in step behind Shard, his eyes always looking back and forth in case of any signs of danger. Shard was easily to small to protect herself. She could walk under him and still have some headroom for Bast's sake! And yet in this little package came such determination. 'Twas remarkable.

Subject: Alexandria, Lorae, and Lenwe

"I'm overjoyed that the two of you accepted my request. The night is clear, and a perfect chance to see the Moon Maiden's watchful eye. Let us be off."

With that, Alexandria bids good night to the other strangers whom she had met, bids good night to Flame personally, then walks outside towards the smithy. Just as Lorae had said, there was a large tree there, capable of shelter if it rained, or protection from the wind. Alexandria sets up her bedroll at the base of this tree, making sure that there was also enough room for the other two, even if she had to sacrifice a bit of her own cover. Then, Alexandria undoes her sword belt, and props her sword up against the tree. After that, she begins taking off her shining armor.

After her armor is removed, Alexandria now wears only a pure white dress. No stains or smudges are visible on it. Grabbing her sword again, she turns to Lorae and Lenwe, and says, "Pardon me, but this will only take a few minutes. I will return shortly."

Turning and walking away, you can see that the dress has no back, revealing a large tattoo of a moon with a sword going through it. This covers her whole back, spanning her shoulder blades and all the way down to the small of her back. The tattoo almost matches exactly her sword. Walking a short distance from the tree, away from any obstacles, Alexandria looks up at the moon, and speaks:

"Ussta dro zhah alkar ulu dos, Drathir Wenress. Mrigg uns'aa wun jal Usstan xun, ji nindel Usstan xal kla'ath dos wun natha ditronw i'dol wun ussta di'morad, wun ussta wiles, lu'wun ussta ssiggrins. Xuat ori'gato ussta dhyn ul'plynndae sariya ussta tajo, ji nindel Usstan mora xusst ulu byrren t'sek d'tluin bwael ulu mina 'zil dos daewl. Usstan joros nindol dal dhyn khel, areion l'trelao, ulu dos ussta valsharess."

After staring at the moon without blinking while speaking this, Alexandria closes her eyes, her long hair blowing slightly in the wind. Perfectly serene, perfectly still. Then suddenly, she nods, and opens her eyes. Taking her sword in hand, Alexandria whips her head around, as though becoming conscious of an enemy in her midst, though there is nobody. And so she begins to fight with that enemy, though the combat is graceful, and fluid, almost like a dance. Her sword catches the moonlight with every swing, making the dance more beautiful, along with the flowing of her hair. Her lips repeat the prayer which she had originally spoken over and over again as she dances.

"Wasn't the whole point of coming here to find out who was the heir? Whoever killed the killer was to be the heir, wasn't it?" Almyrikon's eyes narrow, as he begins to wonder why he came. That wizard had lied to him... and now he would pay if he wasn't correct.

"Grr... You'll learn your place. Both of you." Almyrikon fumed, though he did remain quiet. Looking around, he moves over to the two who he had singled out earlier, and waits, though he gives an evil glare at the gnome. The barbarian perfectly resembles a bear, living up to his name. "So when do we avenge the dead king?"

Very well, I am the new guy. I never really know much about a world anyway... and actually, I'll have a reason for not knowing the area even slightly in my story.

As for the Character, sounds like a plan. This adds a new dimension, and it sounds fun!

From the hall, you hear a loud bellow. "WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG!!!"

As the doors slam open, Almyrikon comes thundering back in. He had litterally just pushed the closed door open, not turning the knob. "I've been waiting forever! Marching his way over to the group, he forces his way into the group. "What's so special?" He asks, clear irritation in his voice.

"I believe it is time that sleep is needed. I am going outside, to sleep under my lady's radiance. Does anyone wish to join me in this? Being under the moon when you sleep is a wonderful gift of the lady, and she keeps you safe." Alexandria smiles as she stands up from the table. "Also, it would be a nice oppourtunity to meet some of you, get to know you more. I hardly know anyone here, save Flame, and a tiny amount of Lorae and Brianna."

Brother Perrin rose his head as Josop called out to the travellers. It was his turn to tend to the gardens with Brother Josop, and it was true that it was a hot day. But everyone had their duties to attend to, and Perrin was not one who would shirk his duties. However, Aiding others was always a duty more important than the gardens.

"Yes Brother Josop is correct, the sun is much too hot to be traveling too far. Come in, and we shall offer you drink. Please, permit us to aid you."

Waterdeep was a big city. Big city filled with soft people. Pah. When he got there, he even had to glare at a few people to get them to stop staring at his immense frame. Grrr... annoying people. They would learn to respect him.

Boring stuff was said, introducing all the other people trying to take his claim to the throne. Apparently some of them were his relatives. Meh, they could be second in command. He would avenge his ancestors, and take his proper place on the throne. But of course... nobody could do anything without good allies. Perhaps he should seek friend within his blood first... no need to get outsiders involved. Making nothing subtle about it, he Almyrikon says,

"Oy! Velina! Maranda! I need to talk to you two! Meet me outside." Then, leaving, hefting his huge axe, Almyrikon casually walks out of the room.
