Biotechnica Facility; Northernmost Building – Northeast of Night City – Saturday, March 14th, 2020, 12:08am

MDK smiled slightly behind his mask as his rounds took out the one guard, but his celebration was short lived when two additional guards, probably the ones he had seen go around the corner, came back guns blazing. He staggered when the heavier caliber bullets slammed into his body; it hurt but his armor was keeping him from sustaining a fatal hit, so far.

He was glad when shots from behind him took out one of the other guards and adjusted his targeting as he continued to run full speed at them rapidly closing the distance. He targeted the two new arrivals with his optics and once locked on let loose with his automag going for the head as usual, it was the least armored of most people.

As MDK was firing at them he yells out loudly as he closes on them sticking to the left side of the hallway. and just before reaching the closest one targeting on him the most, he drops to his knees sliding on them towards the little hallway he sees on his left. This maneuver serves two purposes: one it makes him a smaller target this close to the men, and it opens up more of a lane of firing from those behind him. He know at least one person is back there firing and he hopes others have also followed him as he needs all the help he can get at this point.

He will slide into this small hallway, using the edge of the wall to provide cover as he continues to fire at the closest (Gunman 2) if he is still up and attacking, or firing at the other attacker (gunman 1) if not.

Subject: Proper Compensation...

Ska’tki grinned a mouthful of teeth at the servant as he skirted him and went out to fetch him some food. He turned back to gaze at the Lord as he explained his position in the castle.

“I am Lord Ontzlere, recently appointed chancellor of Pardinal,” Ontzlere’s tone was brisk and full of business. “I am going to assume that the prince you refer to is His Highness, Benedict, and not the exiled Prince Gen—“

At the mention of the exiled Prince, the Kazari smiled slightly at the memory of his friend. Gen Archais Menbren and he had adventured together for a long time and Sna’kti considered him the closest friend he had in the world. They had many good times together, and some bad ones, but they had always endured through the good and bad and managed to come out of them alive. Though with the thought of Gen he also wondered of where he was now; he hadn’t seen him, or their other companion Herai Enko, in years and he missed their company.

With a start he realized that this Lord Ontzlere was still talking; “—Prince Benedict is…above negotiations concerning this matter. I trust then that you’ve no further questions concerning my credentials, or the whereabouts of any further of the royal family, and as such I’ll continue with your assignment.”

Sna;kti didn’t acknowledge which Prince he had been asking about, though it had indeed been Benedict he had been asking bout, he only nodded that the man could continue with the details of his assignment.

He didn’t know what it was but he didn’t like the vibes he was getting from the Lord Ontzlere; it bothered him somewhat that the King didn’t appear to even know what was going on about him and that this man, recently appointed chancellor, was in charge. He felt something was going on here, but he didn’t know for sure and besides what could he do about it even if something was out of place.

“If you would join me,” Lord Ontzlere said, his voice like dry leaves on the wind. “I will show you the proposed location of the cave. After which, you may spend some time studying the map while you eat, but I would ask that you keep your time here short as the longer His Majesty has visitors the weaker he becomes.”

He followed the man over to the table and glanced down a the maps before him. He listened and his sharp eyes took in every detail about the map and the location of his objective.

“It shouldn’t be difficult to find,” Lord Ontzlere managed to draw out the word ‘find’ in such a manner as to leave it hanging in the air like a tempting treat. “A recent mudslide revealed the columns of the ancient structure, and allowed for those who discovered it to tamper with the protections that were in place about it. From all accounts the farms outside of Visden have been suffering disappearances of a very costly nature: both livestock and family, and at least two farms were completely razed.

“I trust that this storm won’t deter you from setting out immediately, Sna’kti. It is, after all, of great importance that we remedy this situation post haste. Oh, and the matter of compensation…The king has seen fit to offer one thousand fusat upon your triumphant return.”

Sna’kti’s eyes came up to look at the Lord and then glanced to the King and back; one thousand was a significant sum and it definitely made it hard for him to refuse such a mission. He looked back at the maps and studied the terrain, possible approaches to this cave, nearby farms, etc.

He studied them till the food arrived then he looked up at Lord Ontzlere and asked him about the imprisoned creature.

“What can you tell me about this creature? How powerful is it? How big is it? Are special weapons required to harm it? I need to know what I am up against.” He knew from experience that some powerful beasts were impervious to normal weapons and required special items to damage or destroy it; silver and Iron were common against such beasts but who knew. He thought it best to ask and find out everything before accepting a job. He would begin to eat while he listened to any information they might have to give.

(After any response)

Wiping his mouth on his furry arm, he nodded and then thought about the mission. It sounded like a good scouting mission, but there was more then that if he ran into this creature.

“It sounds like a very dangerous job,” he said as he chewed and thought it over then added, “I will go to the cave and ascertain the danger for one thousand… but if I have to fight this creature.. It will cost you an additional thousand if I kill it… take it or leave it.”

He turned back to the food and ate quickly as he planned to be out of here as soon as he could after they agreed, or declined his fee. He was not a haggler; he gave everything his all and demanded proper compensation. Facing some demon creature that had been imprisoned by magic sounded like a very dangerous mission and though one thousand was a lot, he thought two sounded much better.

Brom... considering that MDK was running full out from the corner I assumed he would be further down the hallway.

If I remember the rulebook, it states a character can move his move rating x3 in meters (MDK's Move is 10x3 =30m).

According to the map he has only moved 30 feet from the corner. Is there some reason he hasnt moved further?

I am new to the system and am just trying to understand the movements and actions. Thanks!

Subject: Sgt Lee

Sgt Lee was starting to feel alittle better as he made his way down the hall; he was upset though at not being in his usual spot at point. He was still mentally kicking himself for letting that thing get the best of him. He should have handled that better and not allowed himself to be almost killed. He vowed to take it more cautious and planned to get out of this place alive.

Lee was glad when his vision returned to normal during the trip to the Lab. The first thing he did was check the action of his weapon; round loaded, safety off, ready do rock. He checked the status of his other mags, they were loaded and in their proper place.

When they got to the Lab, Lee moved to cover the LT as he moved to check out the alien and it’s pod. He kept his distance from the LT; it was better to cover from here so he wouldn’t get in the way if the LT needed to retreat. He kept a watchful eye out for any sign of danger; he didn’t want a repeat of their surprise attack earlier. He now had a plan if they were attacked by a strange beast again; at the first sign of trouble he would hold his breath. He figured he could hold his breath for a minute or two, in which time the battle would be over one way or the other.

Has anyone seen this movie? Caught part of it on cable and now I have to get the DVD and see the whole thing. If you saw the first D&D movie I think this one is better and is closer to the game in mechanics but the special effects are not as good as the original D&D Movie.

This one doesnt have the kiddy aspect to it, though it is still rated PG.

I recommend you check it out. The parts I saw were better and made me want to see the whole thing from the beginning. I do wish the special effects were better though.

Check it out!

If you seen it let me know what you thought.

... I loved this game when it came out over 20 years ago.. it was always a good way for frequent D&D parties to work off some steam and get even with the other player who caused their characters death or some other misfortune.

I am tempted.. but I am stretched thin now as it is and one more game.. would push me over the edge. I wish you luck in finding players and recommend this to everyone. If you havent played it give it a try... you'll love it!

p.s. If anyone wants to risk instant termination for their character... I have the Paranoia Rulebook in Electronic format.

Brom... can you describe the hallway in which the battle is taking place?

How long is it?

How from from the corner where we started is the hallway from where those guys came out?

Which doorways where the original two guards using to hide?

Can I get a rough drawing even?

That would answer everything. I am having problems visualizing exactly where everyone is at right now.

Vatta looked at her again and then nodded slightly as if understanding but she said nothing. She tagged along with Xuor and her as they made their way to the Blacksmith’s shop.

"How can I help you?" the Blacksmith asked. He voice as deep as his her shoulders were broad.

Vatta didn’t really need anything here so she stayed to the back and just looked around the shop. She say a typical blacksmith and his work in progress. Her thoughts at the moment were still a bit jumbled and she wasn’t quite sure why. As Xuor was left to talk to the smithy, she turned to keep an eye on the street as was her usual way. Always on the alert, it kept her alive so far.

Subject: The Royal Treatment

Sna’kti allowed himself to be escorted through the raging storm to the castle and each step put him in a fouler mood as his fur, which had been getting drier back at the tavern, was now drenched. He said nothing to the guard or the Captain, they seemed in as foul a mood as he and frankly he didn’t think they would be very good conversationalist.

Arriving at the castle he was surprised as that his escort didn’t take him to the throne room; apparently this was some kind of clandestine operation going on and that piqued his curiosity even further. His eyes took in all the lavish surroundings and shook his head slightly; it certainly paid to be royalty.

Entering the antechamber in the presence of the King, Sna’kti suddenly wished he wasn’t soaked to the bone and smelling of wet fur. He studied the ruler of Pardinal ad frowned slightly at the old man’s condition; he didn’t look good. He had heard that the man wasn’t well and that his son, Prince Benedict, had been running things in his stead.

As he approached the King he continuing his appraisal of the room; noting the strange man standing by the King and the cleric of Lysora sitting by the fireplace. Stopping before the King, Sna’kti looked at the old man and raised his hands, crossing them over his chest with his claws inward towards his body and bowed his head; the traditional greeting of respect among his people.

“This is he then?” It was the man at the king’s side that spoke, not the king.

“It is, Lord Ontzlere.”

“Leave us.” Ontzlere didn’t move his body at all as he spoke, and the thickness of his mustaches kept Sna’kti from seeing his mouth move much as he spoke.

The guards saluted and then sharply made their escape, leaving Sna’kti alone in the room with the king, Lord Ontzlere, the priest of Lysora, and three servants.

“I hear tell that you are something to behold on the field of battle,” Lord Ontzlere spoke crisply and articulated everything very carefully.

Sna’kti eyed this Lord Ontzlere; it appeared that this man was going to be the one explaining about what was going on here. He had never heard of this man before and that was strange, and he couldn’t help wonder exactly how much power this man had over things.

He shrugged at the man’s comment, said nothing, and only smiled slightly revealing a row of teeth designed to rend flesh.

“The Kingdom has a need for your services.” Lord Ontzlere continued to stare at the Kazari without expression on his long face.

“Not surprising!” Sna’kti said as he turned nonchalantly and walked over to the fireplace. He nodded again at the cleric as he stood in front of the fire to dry himself while he waited for the explanation he knew was forthcoming.

“It seems that there’s a cave near the city of Visden where a creature was imprisoned some centuries ago. The scholars that were consulted on the matter have determined it from a previous rule where creatures of some power and dubious intention controlled the country. Historically speaking, the people—ancestors to the great families of this kingdom—rose up and deposed their rule, but they weren’t able to kill the most powerful of these, and just succeeded in imprisoning her. As you’ve likely surmised, her prison was within this cave.

Sna’kti turned from the fire to look once again at Lord Ontzlere, it was more to warm and dry his back then from any need to look at the man while he spoke. Water dripped constantly from his body to puddle on the floor about his feet. He didn’t seem to care about the mess it might leave on the floor.

“Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that the prison has been tampered with, and certain events in the area have led us to determine that this being is building her power, and still operating from this location. Of course, we’ve yet to be able to determine whether this is fact, or assumption as our scrying has been defeated, and no scout has yet returned. This is where you come in. The king would like you to travel to the cave and ascertain whether this threat exists, and should you determine you’ve an opportunity to put an end to the threat, the Kingdom would be most appreciative. If you determine that the threat is too great for you, return and we’ll send in the proverbial cavalry.

“You will, of course, be well compensated.”

“Damn right I will!” He said with a chuckle and he glanced towards one of the servants who appeared to be standing by waiting for something to do.

“For starters,” he said to the servant, “bring me something to eat. Your guards interrupted my dinner.”

“So tell me,” he said turning back to look at Lord Ontzlere, “Who are you and where is the Prince? Why isnt he giving this little recruitment speech?"

Topic: Garayon - Reign of Darkness
Subject: Sudden End...

Location: Under the Grey Mountains
Date/Time: Day Nine – Afternoon

Billy and Thon attacked the Shelnak wedge from two different sides, their attacks were devastating to the weakened wedge and all coherence among the creatures broke down. Three of their number went down in the attack and the others broke their formation and while the back half of the creatures fled back the way they had come, the rest scattered and tried a fighting retreat using only their small iron dirks.

Alea said a quick prayer to Corellon and reached out and touched Riddle and felt two things: one the healing power of her god pass through her and into the severely injured man, the second was an intense burning sensation in her hand. She quickly withdrew her hand and saw the viscous liquid starting to burn her flesh.

She drew out her water to try and wash it off of her and Riddle, but the dwarf next to her stopped her hand and shook his head. He reached down and taking dirt from the floor next to the wall he dropped a double handful on her injured hand and began to rub off the liquid and the burning subsided. While she brushed at the dirt on her hands, the dwarf began to douse handfuls of dirt on Riddle to stop the acid like film on his body. As he did she could see the healing power start to do it’s work and though he remained unconscious she could see he wasn’t getting any worse, but he still needed further attention.

Next several things happened almost simultaneously; Thor had turned and grabbing his throwing axe, hurled it at the back of the Shelnak Leader as he loomed over Siliwen. Seeing the leader bearing down upon her with little time to cast a spell, Siliwen turned to retreat. As she turned she saw the dwarf from behind her step up and place himself directly in the path of the Shelnak, his axe swinging.

The dwarves axe met the iron stave of the Leader and both weapons went flying, the leader continued on and tripped slightly on the dwarf as he almost fell down from the force of the blow. Stumbling, the leader reached out and grabbed Siliwen as she started to run. Sweeping her up in one arm he reached out for her necklace with the other as he continued to stumble.

Siliwen got a close look at the Shelnak then as it’s face loomed over her shoulder; it had no eyes really that she could see, it’s lipless V shaped mouth was salivating over her, and it had two slits for a nose; it seemed to be sniffing at her as if trying to locate something by smell. Suddenly she felt the creature jerk and begin to lose his balance even further as he stumbled on; what she couldn’t see is the throwing axe which suddenly sprouted from the creatures back.

Thor shouted in triumph as he saw his axe bury itself deep in the leader’s back, but then he watched in horror as he watched the creature stumble on weakly towards the edge of the cliff. He tried to yell a warning but no one heard it as he saw the creature, carrying Siliwen disappear over the edge of the cliff towards the waterfall. He ran over towards the edge and peered over and saw nothing beyond; her and the creature had disappeared into the darkness. Looking about he suddenly noticed that the dwarf he had seen attempt to come to Siliwen’s rescue was also missing. He thought the he must have been clinging to the creature in a vain attempt to stop it as it continued on it’s quest to get at the mage.

With the disappearance of their leader, the remaining Shelnaks all turn and flee on all fours back up the cavern in the direction from which they came. Thon and Billy each bring down a couple more as they flee then Thon restrains the large warrior with a arm and shakes his head, meaning they should let them go then he turns back to the rest of the group behind them to access the damage.

Situation: Riddle is still unconscious but no longer burning. Alea and one dwarf are aiding him. Thor stands by the edge of the ledge looking down into the darkness. Siliwen, the other dwarf from the rear guard, and the Shelnak leader are nowhere to be seen.

((OK N.P.N.S. Any questions let me know. Brianna, check PM for message.))

Need to know so I can pick spells if I need to do so prior to game starts.

Well I havent determined initiative yet.. and everything revolves around that... if she loses initiative it is a moot point... but if she wins her opponent is close now and if she turns to run he will get an attack at her back before she gets out of range. If she wins she can have time to cast a spell.. especially something as quick as Magic Missile.

My advice, casting a spell is your best option, but the choice is yours

Biotechnica Facility; Northernmost Building – Northeast of Night City – March, Friday 14th, 2020, 12:08am

MDK continued on down the eighty, or so, feet to the next corner, stopping short and peering briefly around it. There he saw four more men, just as two ducked into another hall putting them out of sight, and the other two stepped into the doorways on the outer wall, making them fairly well covered. Pulling back behind the corner, MDK knew that the men had spotted him, having likely been very cautious due to the alarms. He’d also noticed that there weren’t any doors on the inside hall, but that the hallway the men had ducked into was approximately eighty feet down the hall, on the inside, leaving another forty feet of hall before it turned to the left again. The outer wall bore four doors with the last of the four at about ninety feet, and the second to last at roughly eighty feet. These were the two doors that the other two men had ducked into.

MDK quickly related to the rest of the group the layout around the corner and the fact that there were at least two guards ready for them down the hallway. He was assessing the situation rapidly in his mind and going over their options. He didn’t see many that didn’t offer great risk.

MDK took the HK and handed it off to the nearest person; he drew his Automag from his holster and plugged into his Smartlink. He checked the chamber making sure it had a round loaded and thumbed the safety off as he made sure his optical targeting system was functioning properly.

“They have the superior position,” he says to the others as he hefts his Automag loaded with the Incendiary AP rounds and straightened his mask and made sure the armored bandana was in place.

“This is going to happen fast,” he said turning to look at each of them behind him, “stay on my leg when I cut and don’t stop for anything, even if I go down.”

It was then that a voice carried over the ruckus the alarms made as one of the corporate guards at the end of the hall bellowed out: “You might as well surrender! You’re never going to get out of here alive otherwise.”

MDK turned back to the corner with a smile on his lips as he peeked once again around the corner to make sure the situation hadn’t drastically changed.

“FUNNY!” he called out to the guards, “I WAS GOING TO SAY THE SAME THING TO YOU!”

As he finished he glanced back to the others, nodded and then with Automag in hand he rushed around the corner and down the hallway. He knew the guards would be surprised by his sudden assault against their guarded position and they would have to expose part of themselves to fire at him down the hallway. When they leaned out, even a little, he would target them with his zoom optics and lock on and return fire with his Automag aiming for their faces.

MDK knew his large frame would once again act as cover for the others that would come up behind him. He just hoped they would stay close to him and aid where they could; he also hoped his armor would hold out and get him through this dangerous action.

He had a habit of doing suicidal things like this and showing no fear for his life. Often later he think back on them and realize just how stupid the action had been; but thus far he had always made it through and lived to think about it later. It was stunts such as this that earned him his reputation as fearless, dangerous and a little crazy; traits consider good in an assassin.

(OOC: Ok, I have made my offerings to the Die Rolling Gods and waiting to see how this works out. )
