Subject: Character Sheets?

I need everyone's Character Sheets please!

I have one (DMs) and Keeper yours needs to be converted to 3.5, mostly the feats and skills need updating. I think Brianna said she could help if you needed it.

I would like to get this game started so please send me your characters, or post them here.

Let get this party started!!

Thanks!

Subject: Alright!

Looks like we have 5 players, the minimum I need to start.

Septimus has decided to make up another C that seems more appropriate for 3rd level and more of a good or neutral alignment.

Everyone please email me your c sheet on the Red Dragon Character sheet located in the Vault on RDI.

Once I have all the sheets and I have looked them over then we can start the game. Remember that we are now running a 3.5 edition game.

If you would like you can post your character's history in the this thread.

Look forward to seeing all your characters and to getting the game underway.

Thanks to all of you for playing!

Subject: 3.5 ed it is...

Since it looks like most of the differences will be on my end… then I think we will make this a 3.5 game since I don’t see any objections.

Brianna - If you could help Keeper with converting his C to 3.5 that would be great. I am sure you could do it faster than I could.

Dragon Mistress- A cleric of a War god could indeed be fighter/Clerics.. You have permission for a F1/C2 character.

Syanide - Guess you will be back in the game then? Welcome back!

Septimus - Please PM or email me to discuss your character further so we can work something out.

The who 3.5 edition thing from a DM perspective will be new to me and I might make a mistake or two so if you see something in the results that seems wrong let me know and I will discuss it and try to correct it if I am wrong. Keeper wont be the only one learning 3.5

Lana interrupts. "Listen, boys, I know you all are just itching to play hero, to shoot up the TDF base and swoop out with your friends in tow, but have you thought about what you'd do then? We gotta get off this rock sometime, and if you go cracking open a TDF holding cell, you better have a ride lined up."

Jaal looks at Lana, then back at Ziv and Mercury. "Maybe she has a point?"

Ziv had to admit that they did need some type of ship, he looked at Merc to see what he thought.

Mercury adjusted his steering and pushed the engines to top speed. “Yeah! Great point! Why don’t you guys get on that while I drive us back and rescue our friends! I mean, how tough can they be?”

It suddenly hit Mercury that in all the confusion and pointless discussion of plans that he still had his commlink. At first Mercury pondered if he could rig the thing as an explosive device to serve as a diversion. He dismissed that idea and moved on to setting up audio feedback to incapacitate the soldiers. After he realized he had no idea how to do that it occurred to him to actually use the device.

“Yo! Blind guy.” Mercury called into the commlink. The TDF could be listening so he decided he better use a code or something, “This is Mercury rising. We’re coming in hot and ... all your calls are going to be early. Can you give me a … a … whereabouts of the …um …lost …um …red …um …soldierboy ... yeah. Come in please!”

Ziv hung on as Merc pushed the throttle to the stops, “Are you insane? You plan to rush in there and get us all killed?”

Seeing him pull out his commlink and try to contact the Jedi he almost laughed thinking at first that surely the TDF had confiscated their commlinks along with their weapons. But he didn’t laugh, he waited hoping that somehow the Jedi and rest had escaped and were waiting for them to come get them. A far-fetched hope no doubt but who knew. Since he didn’t have another plan he would wait a minute to see what happened next.

>He was happy to hear the fringer’s voice. As his gaze panned across the landscape, Caise retrieved his commlink and lifted it to his lips to reply. “I read you,” he said, “Lost red soldier-boy on Dalroth outskirts, moving for secure location. Hot seems to be the word of the week, Mercury rising… Stand by…”

Ziv stared at the commlink in Merc’s hand, “Well look at that! Man I must say that Jedi is amazing!” Ziv was astonished and reached up and clapped Merc on the shoulder, “I guess you were right. No plan is the best plan.” He chuckled and shook his head. He checked his blaster to make sure it was ready, from the sound of the Jedi’s transmission they might not be out of the woods just yet.

Lee and Johannsen enter the first of the rooms marked as quarters, with the sergeant acting as the breach man - sword in the left hand, pistol in the right. The room is empty, though the lighting seems to work fine.

All four beds are neatly made, and the two desks are similarly organized. Several white boards and PPCs (portable personal computers) sit on the desks, along with various notes and a few books that would appear to be scientific texts. Nothing appears amiss.

“Nothing wrong here,” Lee says to Johannsen standing in the doorway.

Inga looked at the PPA. “There might be something useful on those PPCs, Sergeant. The Warrant Officer might maybe able to figure something out.”

Lee nods to her as he comes back to the doorway, “Yeah, there might be but we can come back for them later, now is not the time.”

Lee and Johannsen enter the second room on their side of the hall. This one is less organized than the first. Though the bunks are still made up (in fact, made tighter than those in the first bunkroom), personal belongings are a bit more haphazard.

Lee and Johannsen enter the second room on their side of the hall. This one is less organized than the first. Though the bunks are still made up (in fact, made tighter than those in the first bunkroom), personal belongings are a bit more haphazard.

“Guess all scientists aren’t neat freaks,” Lee says as he picks up the base personnel listing and shoves it in a pocket.

As he reaches the doorway where Cpl Johannsen waits he stops in front of her before stepping out in the hallway. He could tell when he insisted on being the one to breach the both rooms that she was offended but didn’t question him. A good soldier.

“Corporal,” he says softly as he stood in front of her, “I don’t want you to think that by ordering you to guard the doors while I entered the rooms was in any way because you are a woman. Woman or not, you are a Ranger and you will hold up your end like everyone else so you wont find me giving you any slack on that account.”

He glanced up for a second to look out in the hall and looked towards the door that the other part of their fire team had entered then returned his gaze to her.

“You are a medic, our ‘Only’ medic and you are important, more important than a simple soldier like me,” he smiled slightly and seemed about to continue when ….

As the other team fires, Lt. Kernan quickly switches frequency to Fire Team B's. "Sergeant Kane, Fire Team A has engaged a hostile robot. Stand ready!"

“On Alert!” Sgt. Lee said to Johannsen and immediately sheathed his sword and pistol and swung his M6A1 carbine around to the front, and activating his mike he said, “Acknowledged! Lee and Johannsen rendezvousing with Sgt Kane.” He gestured for Cpl Johannsen to move to the doorway where Kane and Hart had entered another room. He took up a defensive position just past the doorway covering the North end and gestured to the Cpl to cover the South while they waited for the rest of their team to join up.

Varuna is glad to see Tal use some healing from his Goddess to heal the dog the rest of the way. He smiles and take off his large floppy hat and wipes sweat from his brow. Over hearing the conversation of the pirate he walks over as he sets his hat back on his head letting the large floppy brim sag down to partially obscure his eyes.

The pirate seems quite amused by en'Aranthea's declarations of honor. "Honor?" he cackles. "Haw, haw, haw! Dead is dead, sweet thang! Corpses don't tell folks whether they was stabbed in the back or tha face... last time I checked, they don't care! Besides, missy, you took me out of your warlock friend's trickery, not 'cause you bested me in some fair fight! Where's the honor in that, eh?"

He chuckles a bit at that, “I wouldn’t be too sure about what corpses can tell you, I have seen priests of my order make the dead talk and give up their secrets.” He smiled. “It was not trickery that bested you,” he shrugged, “we all have different weapons and use them as we may.”

“You fire upon us as soon as you seen us then turned and ran so it doesn’t seem like you were up to fighting fair either,” he smirked.

He didn’t know why he tried, there was no talking to such people. Murderers, thieves, killing for sport or gold. Such a sad state of affairs.

_________

As they moved on he kept a close eye out for trouble and was surprised when they made camp. He took his turn at the watch, asking for the last watch in the morning. He would pray to Lysora as he waited for the dawn. He would wake everyone just as the dawn sky started to lighten and ate his iron rations sparingly.

He was glad when they gagged the pirate as he was sure that he would give away their position at the first opportunity. He asked to take charge of their captive as they got underway again. He tied a short length of rope to the mans hand bound behind him and with his mace prodded him in the back, “Move along and if you attempt anything I will rap you smartly on the head.”

When En’Aranthea asks if anyone can scout ahead, he shrugs, “Only on foot I am afraid, I don’t have any magic that will help us see what is over the next rise.”

3rd edition??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm.. a question for those who requested to play in this adventure. Would you all prefer to use 3.5 edition in this game?

It seems that almost all of you have used 3.5 and would probably be more comfortable with it.

I have played some with it and have the SRD to use to learn about the combat, skills, etc. It would probably be easier for me to learn to DM with 3.5 than for all of you to learn 2nd ed.

Let me know what you guys think.

TPK = Total Party Kill .. when a single encounter wipes out the total party. I have had a few of those in my characters past.

Now to my question;

Everyone should be able to hear the Lt's broadcast

right? Just wanted to know so I can put that in my post. Thanks!

Keeper - I understand your questions and have to agree with you a little. I do agree that the history does tend towards an evil alignment. And a 3rd level C that is a legendary figure seems a bit much. I am discussing options with Septimus to see how we will work it out.

The ship and crew would not have been an issue as it wouldn’t be available in this adventure anyway.

Your C is fine as I see it. Don’t change a thing.

There will be a delay in starting the game as others don’t seem to have 2nd edition info for making up characters.

Also, I would like to recruit another character as one person dropped out already because they don’t have any of the 2nd edition info and they have only played 3rd ed.

Please be patient I will get this underway eventually.

Vatta let loose softly with a few choice curses in several languages, “That guy has the stamina of a grizzly.” She glanced around and saw Xuor still firing his bow and smiled.

“HEY XUOR!” she yelled to him and if he looked over at her, she would point at the Large Orc apparently leading the enemy, “TAKE OUT THE BIG ONE… THE LEADER!”

That done, she draws again and lets loose another volley of three arrows at the Leader. If they brought him down maybe they could get some of the remaining ones to flee. They had lost a lot of orc and goblins so far, and if their leader fell then maybe they would lose heart and run. It was worth a shot.

She was no fighter, otherwise she would be leaping down there and try to fight her way to the leader, but she was small and the Orc Leader would crush her if she stood before him. No her way was to attack at distance, or from surprise, and since surprise was out of the question in this situation she worked with what she had at hand.

While Cpl Johannson finished with the DNA sample Le finished his examining the door and called out to the Staff Sgt, “Looks like this door was ripped outwards so these things might have busted in instead of the other way around.” He didn’t continue figuring the Staff Sgt could figure out the possible conclusion that maybe these ape-like things weren’t and experiment that had escaped but maybe something that appeared out of the cold.

He shivered at the thought; standing near the door, even out of the wind, he felt the bitter cold getting to him. He was about to suggest they should move on inside without the sample when..

Inga slipped on her thermal gloves as soon as she could, but even in that short time her hands were freezing. She flexed her fingers several times trying to get then limber enough write on the outer label. She labels the outside of the last bag and stashes into her medical kit.

“Staff Sergeant, Kane. I have finished the DNA samples. Inga rose up from her hunkered down position. Lifting her rifle from her shoulder she checks it out and out the safety off. Inga continued to work her finger to get some warmth back into them.

With Cpl Johannsen’s task completed Sgt Kane ordered Team B further into the facility.

“OK listen up Lee, you and Johannson take the left side of the hallway; make sure you do a complete recon of all rooms on your side. One man in, one man stays by the doorway covering inside man and hallway rotate inside man every other room. Hart your with me same M/O I’ll go in first.”

Sgt Lee nodded and moved inside to the hallway with his M6A1 carbine at the ready as he hugged the left side wall. If he sees nothing he will move to the first door on his left (First #10), if door is open he will gesture to the Cpl to cover him and he will stack on the right side of the door leaving the left for her. Listening for noise first, if he hears nothing, he will let his carbine slip back on its sling and draw his sword with his left hand. His sword he handles as well with either hand, but he shoots better with his right.

If the door is closed he will try it and if it is unlocked he will turn the know and push enough to open it about a quarter of an inch then draw his M9A2 pistol with his right and using his foot he will push the door open and crouch slightly as he looks into the room. If he sees nothing dangerous, he will slowly proceed inside doing a through sweep looking for anything unusual making sure to check all corners and behind all doors. If power is out and it is dark in the room, he will click on the xenon light mounted on the accessory rail under the gun.

(If he finds anything unusual, he will of course report to the Staff Sgt. He will repeat this procedure for each of the rooms on his side, all #10s and 11 till he ends at #5 as instructed. He will however, order the Cpl to wait at the door and cover him, telling her that he will make each entry himself. He will deal with the Staff Sgt later if he is angry about his slight change in orders. )

-Opening Post-

No matter where you are….

During the night, as you drifted off to sleep you felt a heavy slumber come over you and you instantly began to dream. At first it was as if you were flying majestically through white fluffy clouds so high you couldn’t see the ground. The sun shone and warmed your body but you couldn’t see the burning orb, only the clouds that enveloped you.

You had the feeling that you were not alone, that others were flying with you though when you turned your head to look at them you could only catch glimpses of other fliers through the misty clouds.

You felt elated at the feeling, of soaring high and carefree above the world. Suddenly you each hear a voice through the clouds and even though it was a strong voice, it held a soft gentle tone much like a caring father speaking to his child.

“Listen brave adventurers, you have been chosen to fight a great evil that has come upon this land. You will travel far from home, and you will face trials and great dangers that you will have to overcome. In the end, I know you have the strength and courage to survive and defeat the evil you will face,” the fatherly voice explained.

The disembodied voice was so comforting and confident sounding that the thought of the approaching dangers it spoke of seemed to escape notice as the group soared through the heavens.

“You will go to a far off land, where things and places will be unknown to you. You will have all your usual accoutrements at hand with which to fight this evil, but be warned you will have to work together or you will not succeed,” the voice continued.

“Do not let the evil deceive you! He will attempt to sway you and tempt you but no matter what he offers remember, to accept will mean the doom of many thousands including yourselves.,” it warns., “He will know that you are after him, and he will know your strengths and weaknesses, just remember who you are and you will prevail in the end.”

“Our time is short, you are almost there,” it says as it starts to fade, “Upon the back of your right hand you will bear a mark,” you each look to the indicated spot and see a wide circle with four arrows coming from it, one pointed in each direction of the compass, “tbis mark will be bore only by those of your group. Trust no one who does not bear this mark.” The voice fades out completely and the last words are barely heard.

You each feel as if you are descending through the clouds and the light of day is slowly fading to night the lower that you go. Soon darkness fills your vision and you can still feel that you are getting closer to the ground which you can not see. Trepidation fills you as you wonder if you will crash into the ground which you feel must be somewhere below you.

Just when you are sure that you are about to die as you plummet to the earth, you startle awake from the dream and sit up as the sinking feeling leaves you.

~~~~~~~~~
Location: Unknown
Date/Time: Unknown/Several hours till dawn
As your eyes adjust to the gloom, you realize that you are not where you fell asleep, instead you appear to be laying on the ground under a star-filled sky. Looking around you see a small camp fire around which you see several other figures who, like yourself, are looking about in astonishment.
Almost simultaneously, all of you jump to your feet and gaze around speechless at first. You can see more of the surrounding land now. The camp appears to be atop a cliff which overlooks a large body of water that stretches away as far as the eye can see. The sky is filled with stars, the patterns unknown to you, and two shining moons, one large and one half the size of it’s companion trailing behind it. In the other directions you see groups of trees here and there, scattered across what looks like a small plain of knee high wild grass.
Staked to the side are several horses, as least one of which looks familiar to each of you. Your packs, bedrolls, etc. lay about the ground by your feet as if you all had come to this spot and camped for the night, though you all have no memory of such a trip, or of the companions with you.
Everyone around the campfire is looking at everyone else and the party consists of the following:
The first is a large barbarian-looking Human male standing nearly 7 feet in height and appears to be in incredible physical shape. He is clad in nothing more than a loin cloth and a large black cloak and strips of colored ribbon bound around his arms and legs; he is an most imposing sight. A long two-handed Greatsword makes him appear even more ominous and deadly.
Beside him stands a tall dark haired Human male dressed in a forest green cloak and a suit of black studded leather; a pair of scimitars rest upon his hips. He seems the type that is perfectly at home and comfortable in the great outdoors.
Next is a slender willowy young Elvin woman with Silver white hair and golden pale creamy skin. She is very tall for an elf and she wears a well cut, Traveling outfit in tones of grey, very fine darjker grey leather pants, and jerkin and a paler gray shirt. Her cloak is reversible dark green and the other side dark grey. She carries a longbow, and a fine belt is fastened around her waist holding pouches and a dagger. The only thing out of the ordinary in this woman’s fine garments is the fresh blood stains on the front of her jerkin and pants.
The shortest of the group is a strapping muscle-bound young Dwarven male with very dark brown hair cut short and a long beard braided in three braids adorned with decorations. He wears a gleaming breastplate and holds a large Dwarven war axe in one hand and a spiked Morningstar in the other. He gazes about at everyone with dark, almost black, eyes filled with suspicion.
The last one, an Elvin female with fiery golden-red braided hair wearing a simple diadem of silver about her forehead, stands tall and proud scanning the group with eyes of the brightest clear violet. She is wearing a dark green silk shirt under a short sleeved Elvin tunic of medium taupe gray with dark green embroidery of vines and leaves scrolled about its borders. Her loose fitting pants, knee-high boots, cloak and coif are also decorated to match. Belted at her left hip is a long sword and a long dagger sits on her other hip, both in scabbards that matches her outfit. On her back is a long bow in a case and a quiver of arrows.
(OOC: Here is where your posting begins, any order you wish as long as no initiative is needed for combat, then I will let you know the posting order. Remember I will be making all combat rolls and such, just state your intended actions and let me know what skill or feat you are using. Remember I am new to this 3.5 edition so be patient and help me out if I make a mistake. Know this, I am not a rule lawyer so I don’t follow all the rules to the letter, remember the DM is the final rule so if I decide to play something different because I don’t think it makes sense please don’t quote rules on me. I will expect a post from everyone at least once a week, sooner would be better, and if after 7 days there are people who didn’t post then I will post at my discretion. If you can post for some reason, please let me know. Well hope this gets off to a good start. Hope you have fun.)
1) After passing through the blue barrier he attempted to see if his left hand would pass back throught he barrier. Want to know if we are trapped here.
2) He examimed the door and the door frame when they came up to see if the door was ripped outwards or inwards. Trying to determine if these things were trying to get in or out.
Just didnt want you to miss those in all the large posts in the thread.
Thanks!
As they leave the drop point, Sgt Lee will take the transmitter that Lt. Hager gives them since he is an experienced Comm operator, unless the LT, Staff Sgt or Chief object. He secures the gear with his other stuff to protect it as best as he can from the harsh blizzard conditions.
As they trudged through the harsh bitter wind towards the ARF building, Sgt Lee kept a alert eye on the rear of the team. He wasn’t surprised he didn’t see anything, it was too damn cold out here for man or beast, even fur covered ape-like ones, and the heavy winds would blow away any signs of passage within a few minutes.
When they passed through the blue barrier he shivered at the tingling sensation, it gave him and eerie feeling and he couldn’t help wonder what caused this barrier. If it was a force field it didn’t seem to stop them from getting past. Maybe it wouldn’t let them leave he thought and before he went on after the others he reached back through the barrier with his left hand just to see if it would let his hand pass through it again.
When Fire Team 2 reached the southern emergency entrance Lee noticed the others in the group seemed to be suffering more from the bitter cold then he was at the moment. He was cold no doubt, but the others seemed to be having trouble walking and were dragging their feet. They needed to get inside and get warm before they all died from this cold.
When they came to the entrance and saw the torn out door, Lee walked over to the door and quickly appraised the damaged door and then walked to the door frame trying to ascertain if the door was ripped outwards or inwards before it was tossed out in the snow.
As the first member of the team entered the facility, Le kept his eyes on the outside till he heard someone moving snow around and he peeked inside and watched as Hart uncovered the large furred ape-like creature they were told about on the ride here.
“Well, at least we know that bullets will kill them,” he smirked and said to the others before turning his attention back to the rear of the team and the outside blowing snow.
Ziv hangs on again as Mercury jams on the brakes, “Easy Merc, We will have to come up with a plan but we shouldn’t do it out here in the middle of nowhere.”
Plan?” Mercury asks surprised, “We don’t have time for plans. We’ll make it up as we go. I mean, how tough can they be?”
“I think we should find a safe place to hold up and discuss our next step,” Ziv said looking at the remainder of their shrinking group.
Mercury shifted the speeder back into gear, “Okay, someone give me directions or an idea please!” he says loudly, “Cause people could be dying here while we hide out and make plans” he adds dramatically. “We need a diversion, and then we grab our guys and go. What do we got that explodes? Could jury rig the fuel tanks...”
Ziv stared at Mercury and gestured to those in the speeder, “In case you havent noticed Merc, there is only you, Lana, Me and Jaal and he is in no condition to fight after…” He didn’t want to mention Jeena’s lifeless body laying in the speeder.
“That leaves three of us to take on a TDF riot squad in an armor vehicle from a speeder,” he said looking at his weapons, “I don’t know about you but all I have is a blaster and a couple power packs so I don’t know about us taking them back.”
Ziv sighed, he wasn’t much of a fighter and definitely not a leader in battle. He settled down and racked his brain trying to think of a plan.
“I don’t know if crashed a rigged speeder into the armored transport is going to help and besides we don’t know how many TDF troops were in that carrier,” he said shaking his head, “I know getting ourselves captured of killed is not going to help the others.”
“What we need is some help.” He said looking around wondering then turned to Jaal, “Do you know anyone that can help us?”
Turning to Tal he nods and says, “I have stopped the bleeding, but he will need further healing.” Reaching into his bag again he starts pulling out small bags of items looking into them. “Lysora the Great One, in her infinite compassion, has allowed me to save him but her healing powers are normally reserved for people so it won’t return him fully to health.”
He finds a couple of bags he was looking for and sets them aside. Pulling out a small wooden bowl, a spoon, and his water skin; he starts to prepare a concoction by mixing water with some powders and herbs from the small bags. “I can make something up that will speed his internal healing, but if you have any ability to heal him it would help.”
As he makes the healing herb mixture, he looks up to where the others have detained their hostage; he listens to what the man says and sighs softly. He was always amazed at the human capacity for violence and killing; all of this anguish and death over gold.
He leaves the questioning to the others for now as he attends to his animal patient. While Varuna is compassionate to all living things, animals don’t usually come under his care. Only the fact that this animal is a loyal companion of one of the party makes it worthy of his attention now. When he attempted the healing he wasn’t sure that Lysora would answer his prayer, but even when she did he could tell that she wasn’t entirely pleased with the focus of his healing magic being an animal.
The healing draught complete, he looks to Tal and says, “If you get him to drink this it will speed his internal healing but it might also make him sleep,” he shrugged with a slight smile, “unfortunately we heal faster when completely at rest.”
He would assist Tal in whatever way he thought best to get Dog to drink the mixture. It would be a not so pleasant tasting drink but if he got everything right it should help him heal. ((Herbalism INT -2)). After Dog drinks the herbal drink (if he does) Varuna will put away his herbs and stuff, rinsing out the bowl with a little water from his water skin.
Leaving his patient to his master now, he will rise and shouldering his bag again, turns to their captive to hear what else they may have gotten out of him. Hopefully they can find out how many more of them there are up there at the lighthouse and if they are well armed?
Subject: Arrival ....
Right before sixteen hundred hours, Chogan is dispatched to the barracks to let you know that your chopper is ready to go. "Better hoof it, guys... command says another storm'll be rolling in soon," he tells you.
A half hour later, the entire team (and your gear) are stowed inside a UH-60S Black Hawk combat assault helicopter. The Black Hawks are beginning to be phased out these days, but their long and distinguished service record sees many still in use throughout the globe... and the pentagon apparently sees no need to upgrade at the bottom of the earth. A Lieutenant Hagar grins a greeting as you strap in.
Sgt Lee was more than ready when the order came to move out. He had all his gear ready and was sitting on the edge of one of the bunks running a white cloth along the blade of his sword. His head snapped up and he moved quickly to his feet as he sheathed his sword on his back. He was already dressed in his Artic gear and armor, shouldering his pack and grabbing his carbine he moved out with the others to the transports looking eager for action.
Once they were grounded and gathered into their fire teams Monty had them all take a knee on the snow.
"Some crazy sh** going on here boys and girls. This blue glow-park ain't the half of it neither. I don't know if they've been expiramenting on monkeys here or what, but--" he quickly relayed Blake's find to the rest of the group. "This don't change how we go in. We gow in hot, expecting trouble, and covering each other's asses. Got it?
"Good. Team one will sweep the southern hemisphere. Team two will take the north. Secure the buildings' main floor only, and regroup int the main facility's lobby in one hour.
"Now, unless Chief Blake has anything to add concerning what this blue igloo is; we move out."
Kane his eyes half closed, his mind relaxed came to full awareness with the Lt’s command of where to land.
“Ok you all heard the Lt we land in a few minutes, I want a last gear check, make sure your weapons are loaded and safe‘d. After you check your own kit I want each of you to check the gear of the man next to you. Once we hit the ground weapons off safety and team 2 form up on me.”
Ape-like creatures? Lee wondered what strange things the government was working on down here. Or if this was something from space? He didn’t really care, his mission was to kill things and he was sure that these things would die just as well as a human.
His safety was off the second his feet hit the ground and he scanned the area on his side. He didn’t worry about the rest of the area, he was confident that everyone was doing their duty and were also scanning their own areas. He formed up with Sgt Kane and nodded when given the order to bring up the rear.
He let the others in Team 2 move out ahead of him and wrapping a heavy wind-cloth around his face so only his eyes were visible behind his goggles, he followed them keeping a constant vigil on both sides and the rear. If he spotted anything unusual he would immediately call out an alarm. As he walked he had to wonder about that strange glow ahead, some type of shield or something; maybe some countermeasure to contain the problem, these ape-like creatures perhaps. He had no doubt that they would soon find out, and he would be ready.
Varuna calls out to Lysora for aid, and the goddess answers - a split second after loosing another bolt (that flies wildly off target), the man finds his limbs stiffened by divine magic, and he is literally frozen in place.
“Don’t attack that one, I have him.” Varuna shouts quickly to keep anyone from killing him as he starts forward towards the frozen man.
Faster than any human, Dog closes easily in the second attacker... who calmly kneels, takes aim, and buries a crossbow bolt into the charging animal. Dog screams in agony, breaks stride, and tumbles head over heels into a nearby ditch. The assailant doesn't even bother to acknowledge the fact; he simply resumes his all out flight, heedless of Dog, the party, or his companion's plight.
Varuna saw Dog go down and immediately his course veered towards the downed comrade. Even though he was an animal, he was part of the party and during their travels so far he had come to like the creature. He considered him a member of the party just as much as any of the others and therefore he deserved his help.
“Bind him quickly.” he yelled out to the others as he pointed at the frozen attacker, “We will want to question him.”
Seeing the other man disappear into the distance, Varuna rushes up to Dog and kneels down next to him. Seeing the dog is near death (assuming therefore that he is unconscious) he will quickly slip his healing bag from his shoulder and open it up. Taking out a large piece of cloth, he will take the crossbow bolt in one hand and holding the cloth around the wound he will pull the bolt out and immediately cover the wound with the makeshift bandage and apply pressure.
Closing his eyes he will begin to pray softly, “Lysora, Sacred Mother of us all. Grant this humble servant the power to save this faithful creature’s life. Heal his wound and make him whole again so that he may continue to aid us in your divine mission.” He lays his hand on the wound; calling upon his Goddess to heal the wound and help restore some of the creature’s vitality.
(OOC: Cure Light wounds – Granted Ability. Note: If the Dog is "Conscious" alter above slightly; Varuna will ask Tal to come over and help hold the animal still while he removes the bolt and attempts the healing)
