Subject: Ronan Bruel

Walking into the bay where the New Jedi fighter rested, Ronan paused to look it over. I had interesting lines and an aggressive style; he liked it. But he did not like the feeling he was getting about it or this place. Something was out of place here; the force was telling him that but not what it was.

He walked over to the fighter and stood next to the nose of the craft for a minute, then slowly he reached out and laid a hand tentatively on it’s metal surface. He almost expected some kind of attack from the feeling he was getting; it set his entire being on edge. He didn’t know what was going on here, but it was his duty to find out especially if it related to this craft.

He walked alongside the fighter, his left hand slowly caressing the frame trying to coax some kind of response to what he felt. Some type of emotion or warning of what might be wrong with it. He didn’t know this design, but he instinctively knew star fighters and if something was wrong with the design he figured he should be able to figure that out without the force.

((OOC: Nice ship! )

Thon listened to the group discuss ways of getting across the ravine without using the bridge; he kept his men on guard both at the base of the bridge and behind the group while they plotted.

“If it is some sort a magical barrier,” the dwarf said quietly, “then that explains the presence of the Shelnaks.. thay would be here ta tend the forbidding. In time it might dissipate though I don’t think we should stay here that long without knowing how long it might be.”

He looks across the roughly 50’ gap gauging the difficulty of the rope idea.

“It could work,” he said still looking at crossing, “maybe yar big fellow here, “ turning to glance up at Billy, “might have the strength and altitude ta get a rope across there.”

He fell silent waiting for the group to decide if that was the course they would take and who would attempt to be the first across.

((OOC: Ok since you havent really com to a conclusion here, that is all for now. Once a course of action is stated then I will update again with the results. Make sure to post who is making the attempt at the rope and the crossing. I need details! Carry on!))

Vatta sits sipping her wine, waiting on her food when a young man enters and walks over to the table where all of the party sits; her off hand slips down off of the table top and rest on the hilt of one of her daggers out of sight of anyone. If the man was observant, he might have noticed the move, though he couldn’t see what it is she held.

She was always cautious, though she saw no overt sign of hostility in this man, she knew how quickly things could turn ugly. Besides, Vatta had a thing for people who walked up and joined a conversation without the courtesy of asking.

When Brianna introduces them, Vatta nods her head to the man and offers a wan smile but says nothing and only takes a sip of her wine.

Subject: Over the wire and through the bullets.. to our comrades rescue we go...

Wilderness – Northeast of Night City – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 11:43pm

The decent towards the fence was approximately thirty meters, and they devoured it in about two minutes. This left the fence to deal with…

The electricity to the fence is null. The message scrolled across MDK’s eye as though on queue. That left the simple problem of getting through it. The top was covered in razor wire and it was nearly fourteen feet high. The metal of the chainlink was too thick for the cutter in MDK’s Swiss Army Knife, so it would have to be another solution.

MDK approached the fence and scanned the other side with his enhanced optics looking for the position of the guard patrols, especially those with dogs. While doing that, he will stay as low as possible to minimize his outline to anyone watching.

Once he tags the patrols and has their timing down, he slips up close to the fence and slips off his large leather armored duster and throws it over his shoulder. He turns to Peacekeeper and signals her to watch while he goes over.

MDK never had a use for chainlink cutters, he often found it slow and left a sign that someone had come through here. It was best to go over and razor wire, while detrimental to the unskilled or prepared, was not a problem to a trained infiltrator such as himself. Once the guards were moving away at a distance, he quickly but quietly made his way up the fence, his heavy hard soled boots digging into the fence easily.

At the top he paused and holding on with his left hand, he used his right to whip the long duster over the razor wire at the top. The trick to razor wire was to not touch it and even if you did it was not life threatening though it could hurt someone quite a bit. He spread the duster out covering a good 5 foot wide section of the wire; weighing down the coils with the heavy armored leather. With a quick scan to see if he had been spotted, he quickly raised himself to the top and saying low over the wire, eased himself over and then down the other side.

Once on the ground he signaled Peacekeeper to follow him over and to drop the duster down once she was over. He turned his back to the fence and unsung the two H&K and staying low kept them covered while she made her way over.

Once she was down, he quickly donned his duster again and looking towards the nearest building gestured for her to follow and stay low. Quickly they would make their way to the shadows of the building, all the time on the lookout for any sign they had been spotted.

MDK hoped the net runner kept and eye on those cameras and texted his display with intel, otherwise they wouldn’t get far. If the runner was capable they just might have a slim chance of getting in and finding their comrades and getting out again. Strange, he thought, he had just referred to Croaker, Bull’seye and the others as comrades. He smirked a bit at the thought that he must be getting soft.

How wide is the bridge?

The Bridge is about 15’ wide.

Does the ring cut it off the other side entirely?

The ring covers the entire bridge and beyond a little. As I mentioned previously it is like the Stargate and the bridge passes through the middle of that opening.

Is it still growing in size?

The ring doesn’t appear to be growing but when someone approached it, the glow became brighter to Siliwen’s eyes.

Is there any way to get by the ring staying on the bridge, so that swing on a rope and by pass section held by someone on the bridge but not up to the ring and get them swinging and perhaps get them to the other side?

It could be attempted but at some point the rope might intersect with the glowing ring and then….??? You decide if it is worth it.

Note: The other side is smooth, and you cant ‘fire’ a rope across without special equipment. Someone could try and toss a rope and hook across, it would be a difficult throw but possible, it might take several attempts to find a purchase that will hold someone, hopefully someone light.

You decide.

Will update Tuesday night.

Subject: Vatta... thoughts..

Seeing that Xuor is handling the rooms, Vatta smiles and nods to him and turns and moves to her table and orders a glass of their best wine. When Brianna and Xuor join her at the table she thanks Xuor for taking care of the rooms. When the wine comes she sips it slowly and listens to the playful banter between Brianna and Xuor and smiles softly her eyes downcast to her glass seemingly lost in thought.

Maybe it was the recent departure of Cerric that had her down. She hadn’t had a chance to apologize to him for the ‘disagreemnt’ they had earlier While she didn’t think of the Priest in any type of romantic way, she had considered his friendship to be the closest between her and the rest of the group. Everyone else had some type of previous attachment or were forming new ones and now with the only one she had felt close to gone, she felt like and outsider in a way.

“Anyways I noticed both a Fletcher shop and a Bowyer as we rode in that is good I personally can never have too many arrows in stock being as I do depend upon my bow a large part of the time. I think we are going to make an awesome party dear lady I have seen you fight with those blades of yours up close and personal and now with the addition of my bow and Then Vatta's magic as well as your other two friends Lorae and Logan. Xour stops for a second Sorry I'm rambling again. After we leave here does anyone know how far it is to our destination?”

Vatta looked up at Xuor’s mention of ‘her’ magic and raised an eyebrow questioningly; she was unsure what he had meant since she had shown no magical abilities that she had been aware of since meeting them. Strange.

She was going to mention again that perhaps the bowyer and fletchers were closed for the evening since it was late when they arrived, but hearing Brianna agree that they should go and come back to drink more later, she remained silent until after they left the Inn.

“Waitress,” she called out, “bring some food,; meat, and whatever else you have. I am hungry.” He tone almost commanding yet holding a downcast aspect that showed she meant no harm; maybe she was just tired they might think.

Once any food comes, she will pay for it and another glass of wine then slowly dine. Once she is done, she will rise and gather her things, telling anyone else left that she is retiring for the night. She will head of the stairs taking a glance about the room noting everyone there, just looking for anyone out of the ordinary. A old habit really, one never knew when someone you didn’t know was after you for something.

Riddle... no problem.. just a joke.. Rangers usually carry bows. But it seems you have been loaned one from Sil for the moment. In the interest of moving the story forward I did have him use it and to good effect. See the main thread.

Brianna - You are correct in the first one.. think Stargate.. one of my favorite shows.. it is indeed vertical ring with the bridge intersecting it through the middle.

Any other questions, let me know.

"Stop." she cried out, "There's a trap, a magical trap. Turn around now, come back."

Siliwen reaches out to grabbed the dwarven leader's shoulder.

"Call your men back It is right there in the middle of the bridge. Can't you see it?"

Thon looked at her then quickly told his men to stop and return down the bridge; they instantly responded though they looked at her strangely.

The glowing ring dimmed somewhat as the dwarves moved away from it, but it was still bright enough for Siliwen to see it clearly.

“What is it, Lass?” Thon asked her with concern on his face, “I see nothing; magic you say?” He turned to look at the bridge again as did his men but they, like everyone else except Siliwen see nothing except the bridge itself.

Location: Under the Grey Mountains
Date/Time: Day Nine – Early Morning

(OOC: The farthest target is a mere 70 feet away so it is not too difficult for any of you. I think I have enough now to go on, will assume you are going ahead with plan. Also, the dwarfs do not have any bows which is why they looked to you guys for help in this area.)

Alea takes aim with her bow at the farthest target as does Thor with his crossbow. Riddle takes Siliwen’s bow and arrows and notching one takes aim at the closest target which Siliwen targets with her magic missiles. As the others take careful aim, Billy gives the count: “One… Two… Three!”

Three arrows and two ‘arrows of light’ streak across the space between the party and the Shelnak sentries, their aim so precise that as they quickly reload they see two shadowy bodies drop and fall over the edge of the ravine and down into the darkness; not a sound was uttered beyond the twang of the bowstrings and the impacts of the arrows.

The dwarves, and Billy race forward as planned but reach this side of the bridge to find no one to fight. The dwarves carefully search the area on this side and find no sign of anything out of the ordinary; no hidden passages or alcoves that might be concealing an ambush. Declaring this side clear, they can not speak for the far side, but they do not see any movement in the glow of the moss light.

The rest of the party comes up to join them and they all reunite on this side of the bridge and they too see no sign of ambush or anything out of the ordinary,; all except Siliwen.

As she approaches the area at the base of the rock bridge she feels something strange come over her; it makes her slow her approach and fall to the back of the group. Her eyes are drawn to the bridge itself where something doesn’t seem right to her vision. She stops and stares at the bridge and as she does she begins to see a faint glow in the air which begins to brighten as she stands there looking. It appears to be a fat glowing ring of energy that intersects the center of the bridge span at the apex of it’s arch.

This side declared safe, the head of their dwarves guide, Thon, decides to send over a couple of his men to see if there is any problem on the other side. Two dwarves are pointed out and they nod and start slowly across the bridge watching for trouble.

Siliwen continues to stare at the glowing ring, which no one else seems to see. (Which they can not) She watches as the ring continues to glow and grow brighter till the glow is almost dazzling to her. It appears to be getting brighter the closer the two dwarves get to it.

Siliwen’s heart is racing; she doesn’t know what it is but she appears to be the only one seeing it as no one else is reacting the way she is to it. The dwarves are mere feet from stepping into this ring as her heart pounds in her chest feeling as if it is about to burst free. She just knows it will be bad if they touch it.

Beli stood in the doorway of the apartment with little expression on her face, but what was their was sadness, she was thinking about something that had past or a tragic predicted. She was in a sort of trance like state just following Ronan around with her gaze, it was only when he looked at her that she snapped out of it.

"Everything is in order."

Was her reply as moved her hands behind her back.

"The test flights will begin tomorrow, you'll be testing it's maneuverability first, then the weapons system at about mid-day. Lastly the team here at KTI would like you to test the ships hyper-space capabilities."

She turned to leave but the remembered one last thing.

"Also we would like you to attend a small presentation after the test flight and you are free to view the craft at your leisure, it will be in the landing bay you arrived in within the hour."

The door slid close behind her with a hiss.

Ronan could sense Beli’s uneasiness but it didn’t seem as if she were in trouble or that she was lying, so he thanked her as she left the room. He stood there for a moment, stretching out his force senses trying to get a feel if there was any thing wrong here that he should be aware of.

(Let me know if he senses anything)

He examined his room and found a small locker where he put his small bag which contained only a few minor items he might need but most of his necessary items were kept on his person.

(OOC: If he does not feel anything is wrong through the force)

Ronan sits down upon the floor in a meditative posture and closes his eyes and begins to meditate and clear his mind of distractions, to let the force flow through him, to feel what it is the force has in store for him. He will mediate like this until the hour is up and then he will rise, leave his room and retract his steps to the landing bay where the craft should be waiting.

(OOC: If the senses something wrong)

Ronan concentrates and tries to determine what it is that he felt; someone in trouble, something wrong regarding the new craft? If he can locate it source he will attempt to leave his room to investigate. Follow the feeling to it’s source.

Subject: Ronan Bruel Enters!

Sitting in your cabin in the old Firespray, one of the few remaining Firesprays left in the galaxy, your captain, an old Duro who revels in order and organisation, comes over the comm. His rough voice made worse by the old technology.

"This is your captain speaking. We are now approaching the city of Fulluusub. Destination for Jedi Ronan Bruel."

He then went on to repeat his message, typical military fashion, he had piloted this ship during the Yuuzhan Vong war.

A few minutes later you felt the ship touchdown, could couldn't see it because all the portholes and windows are blacked out. It had been done because this ship had been used to transport Vong captives and it was thought unwise to let the Vongs see military installments on their way to which ever prison it was that they were going to.

You descend the gangplank under the shine of lights off polished metal, it's not a soft glow, it's hard and cold but welcoming, this planet had survived the war well, and now it stood an example of what money can buy. At the foot of the gangplank a Sullustanian woman waits for you. She introduces herself as head of private investments and contracts for KTIndustries, her name is Beli.

The ship turns and leaves the private hanger in the crust of the planet as you follow Beli through a magnetised blast door, down 15 meters of corridor with numerous holocorders, through a security door and into your room. It's a luxury suite with programed sunstrips lighting it, they are currently set to Corusant daylight hours and so it's about dusk.

Ronan Bruel sat quietly in his seat as the old Firespray craft made it’s way down the gravity well of Sullust. He didn’t seem to notice the buffeting the old ship was taking as it hit the upper atmosphere; he knew the ship was old but the Firespray’s had always been a reliable and sturdy craft so he didn’t for a moment have any worries.

No one thought much about the male Zabrak dressed in old style brown Jedi robes; he kept mostly to himself seemingly lost in thought. He might appear different to other Zabraks they might have seen with his tan skin, an unusual color for his race, and lack of facial tattoos that usually came when a Zabrak male underwent during their rites of manhood. They wouldn’t know that he didn’t have the tattoos because he had never lived on Iridonia and therefore never partook of his people’s manhood rituals.

Having grown up on Nar Shaddaa in a Zabrak refugee camp and having been orphaned when he was only six years old might explain the differences. Ronan often thought about what little he remembered about those long lost days on Nar Shaddaa; his father working for a crime lord in order to survive while his mother struggled to raise their small son in a dog eat dog society. Little Ronan didn’t understand the problems his family endured each day; his mother had kept him sheltered as much as possible from the ugliness. His father however had gotten him into pick pocketing visitors since no one really thought of a little six year old boy as a thief. He had a knack for knowing who had the most money and who would make an easy target.; he was well on his way to joining his father in a life of crime.

Then the Yuuzhan Vong came and destroyed Nar Shaddaa and Ronan was one of the lucky survivors when his mother managed to barter passage for him at the cost of her own life. He barely survived and then thanks to the Jedi star fighters who stopped the Vong Coral Skippers who were attacking the tramp freighter ferrying them off world. The Jedi had to help repair the heavily damaged freighter in order to allow it to reach hyperspace and freedom. One of his rescuers, Jedi Master Kyp Durron, sensed the boy’s potential as a force user; something that explained his strange sense that made him a adequate pickpocket. Finding out the boy was an orphan, Master Durron arranged for the boy to be taken to the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4 for training.

The boy entered the academy and excelled in his studies, and even survived Vong attack on the Academy on Yavin 4 and continued his Jedi training on Ossus. There he stayed until his 18th birthday when it was decided he should now learn from ‘real world’ experiences.

Having excelled at Piloting Starfighters, Ronan participated in several Jedi battles during the Second Galactic War when Darth Cadeus, formally Jacen Solo, attempted to overthrow the New Republic; it was a great eye opening experience and now a full fledged Jedi he had been sent here to Sullast to oversee the testing of new fighters commissioned for the Jedi.

Ronan came back to the present as he felt the landing gear of the Firespray touch down and he reached out with his senses and he could feel the Force around him. Even though he couldn’t see out of the blacked out ship, he knew he was on Sullast.

Rising from his chair he checked his things more out of habit than necessity. His hands ran down to his belt where his two light sabers hung, one to either side. On the left, he found the guard style light saber which usually drew the most attention from onlookers. It’s strange hilt was longer than a standard saber and had a odd grip protruding 90° out the side about 2/3rds up the shaft (ooc: think tonfa sticks). It was a unique weapon which many at the academy had found too strange to attempt and even tougher to defend against it unusual twirling attack.

On his right side, hung a more normal looking light saber, except for it’s curved hilt which caused the blade, when ignited, to protrude at an odd angle which made opponent have to cope with it’s unusual angle of attack. Both of these weapons suited their master’s unique style and tastes and everyone who knew him were not surprised at his differences when he had constructed them.

Straightening his robe over his 1.7 meter frame, the Zabrak let his hood remain on his shoulders revealing a series of vestigial horns sprouting from the top of his head and long straight black hair from the crown down to his shoulders; to most humans he was an awe inspiring sight as Zabraks were not often seen outside of their homeworld of Iridonia or refugee camps across known space.

Reaching into the seat next to him, he hoisted a small soft sided bag and slipped the strap over his shoulder and exited the Firespray once the gangplank had been lowered. He paused at the doorway and squinted his eyes against the sudden brilliance that was Sullast. Seeing a Sullastan female waiting at the end of the gnagway, he proceeded down to her. When she introduced herself as BelI, head of private investments and contracts for KTIndustries, he responded in kind.

“Greetings Beli,” he said softly in common, “I am Jedi Ronan Bruel.”

Introductions over, Ronan followed Beli as she made her way down into the secured area of what he assumed was KTI Industries. He said nothing as they walked, his eyes taking in everything around him. His force senses stretched out trying to ‘feel’ everything around him. Jedi Master Kam Solusar had always told him to be mindful of the force and everything around him and to listen to what it had to say; “It might save your life.” he had said time and again.

Reaching his luxurious quarters he entered with Beli and turned to the Sullastian and bowed his head to her.

“These quarters are far more than a simple Jedi is use to, thank you!,” he said with a smile, “Now, can you tell me if everything with the project is satisfactory and when can the test flights begin?”

He walked over to the bed and laid his small bag on it and glanced about the room as he waited for her to respond to his question. He didn’t expect any problems as he had been told this should be a routine assignment but he had also been warned that certain factions might have learned of this project and to be wary of any complications.

(OOC: Thank you all for having me.. I hope I can live up to any expectations. )

Wilderness – Northeast of Night City – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 11:40pm

Peacekeeper jerked as her phone buzzed silently in hand.

Peering up at MDK again, she cautioned him to wait as she slid back around the tree and opened the display. A simple message read in green:

I’ve a netrunner on board. What’s your 20?

It was Jack’s contact information. Jaimy took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She’d almost thought he’d left them to boil. Her fingers worked the small digital keyboard as quickly as they could being cold and wet for as long as they’d been.

On target. she typed. I think we’re alone.

She waited.

What’s the gun count? came the reply within seconds.

2

Jaimy glanced over to MDK and whispered, “It’s Springed-Heel Jack. He’s a netrunner ready to assist, but…” Her phone vibrated again.

Are you capable?

“He’s asking if we’re able to proceed,” Peacekeeper raised her thin eyebrows. “A netrunner might be able to get us past the e-sec. If Croaker and the others aren’t dead, they might be in there—“ She checked herself. “—And we still need what’s in there to ensure our safety, and an end to this bull sh*t. What do you say?”

MDK looked at Peacekeeper with a blank expression as he considered the options of what she was suggesting. If the others had been captured they might be in this facility since it was so well guarded it made a great place to hold them and interrogate them. He silently ran the numbers through his head, chances of survival against the security and firepower they had at this place. He didn’t like the odds, but if Jack’s Netrunner was capable in the least, the odds did improve a little. He knew Jack’s style and that he usually hired the best, afterall he did hire MDK didn’t he?

“Ok,” MDK said to her in a whisper, “your right, if the others were taken then they are probably inside there, so I guess we better get them before they tell them about the rest of us.”

He turned his head to scan the area around the facility before turning back to her.

“Tell Jack that if we are going to go in there,” nodded his head at the stronghold, “his netrunner had better be good. Here is what we will need… they have to get those security cameras on a loop.. a long one… then disable the perimeter scanners… if possible.. cause some kind of alarm on the other side of the complex.. something to draw as many guards as possible. If they can do that.. we might have a chance to get in there… if not.. well hope you don’t mind being a ‘dead’ hero.” He smirked at the last, something that didn’t invoke confidence.

He waited for her to relay the message to Jack and if the reply was that they could do it, then he was ready. He slipped his mask and bandana back in place. He checked the available ammo he had for the two MPK-11s he had confiscated, and slapped a fresh mag in his automag and reholstered it.

If the reply was that they couldn’t do what he had requested, then they would have to wait and come up with a different plan.

If the reply was affirmative, or even partially so, then he nodded to Peacekeeper that they would proceed.

“Tell the net runner to monitor us on the cameras,” as he scanned the perimeter again, “and give him my Optic frequency 038.830 so the runner can send me directions and warnings via the marquee in my optics.”

Once this was done and they were both ready, he would nod to her and take the lead and slowly make his way down through the treeline towards the perimeter.

“Follow my lead,” he whispers to her as they head out, “do exactly as I say and we might get out of this alive.. not likely.. but maybe.”

(OOC: Ok.. not knowing what is going to happen it is hard for me to be very descriptive so here is a general overview of what he intends for them. He hopes the runner can do all he said and they can sneak up, crawling if necessary, to the perimeter fence. They can wait for the guards to move off, timing their route if possible, and try and get past the fence and into the perimeter. His process will be very, very slow, being patient and waiting for guard patrols to pass. He will attempt to breech the fence and get inside to the buildings. Using the net runner’s computer link to his optic marquee to warn him and hoping they can keep a watch on the facilities cameras and use them to help. That is the basics, stop them at any point they run into trouble or something major comes up. Lets see how far they get. )

~Backpost~

"Lorae, he called out. "I must leave you here. I am sorry I will be unable to continue with you on you quest. I have been called for another task. I did not know when i would have to go until now. He points to the painted sign with the paladin's helm under the town's name."

He turns he horse and start back down the trail pausing a few paces from Vatta's mount. "I regret only that I must leave before I can apologize for causing you distress. I would not..........ever want to hurt you. Now, I must go. Perhaps when I have finished what I have been called to do I can return, if not, fare thee well, Vatta."

Vatta was stunned by the sudden turn of events, he sat there for a moment as Cerric told them all that he was leaving. She too had hoped to repair the damage to their friendship which was just beginning. She was left speechless for a few seconds after he finished and started to ride away. She turned her horse to watch him and then called out to him.

“Cerric” she said her voice forceful yet quivering a little with emotion which she didn’t understand. When he stopped and looked back at her she didn’t say anything for a good 5 seconds and then found her voice.

“Take care of yourself,” she said softly, “we will meet again I am sure.”

She watched him ride away and then turned her horse to follow the others into the town. Her thoughts a swirl of emotions and unknown feelings, so much so that she forgot about the arrows until she was headed into the Inn, she turned and nodded.

“There will be time tomorrow,” she said barely audible, “the shops are probably closing this late.”

She entered the Inn and went to inquire about a room (as stated above).

(OOC: I assume this removal means Philosophers' MIA. Pity)

Yeah you changed the title of the post but in the body of it there is an announcement saying Jedi Den Koon... I assume the announcement will be my name instead. And cant he just be Jedi .. instead of Jedi Padawan.. he isnt a Padawan really since he doesnt have a Master to teach him right now.

I will wait for your PM on his reasons for being here before posting as it will no doubt impact my post.
