Ok, it was rightly pointed out to me that Ziv shouldnt have received any 'vibe' that Dime might be an agent.. makes sense. So I have edited that line.. he still doesnt trust him yet.

When Val ordered a cider for the ‘good priest’ Varuna smiled and bowed his head slightly to her, “Thank you! It might be good to clear the throat before partaking of some ale.”

Leaning forward and lowering his voice to her after the waitress left the table, “Though I don’t know what this ale tastes like yet so who knows which is better.” He winks and chuckles to Val.

Looking around he notices En’Aranthea talking to the bartender and wonders if she is learning anything about the contact she is suppose to meet here. He hasn’t asked too many questions regarding their mission, his only concern was that it was for a good cause, and thus far he had heard nothing that refuted that belief.

Afterall the Goddess had chosen him for this mission and he would never doubt the Sacred Mother’s decision.

Sat back and looked about the Tavern, when he did he heard a clunk and looked down next to him for the source of the sound. The head of his ball mace had struck the ground as it hung from his belt. He had never bothered to peace tie the weapon, a hard thing to do since it only hung from a hook on his belt by the thong at the handle’s end.

He had no intention of causing trouble anyway, such a thing was beyond thinking for him. He healed people and helped the less fortunate and only used his weapon for defense. Even then he hated to kill anyone, though he had when absolutely necessary to save lives, including his own.

His attention turned to the room as he waited for the drinks and food to arrive, the days of riding had given him an appetite and a thirst that needed to be quenched and soon.

Vatta kept a ear and eye open all around them, especially in the direction from which they came. Lorae’s mention of the orcs they passed reminded her that they might have been pursued to this clearing. If that was the case, the orcs wouldn’t be far away.

Vatta nods her head in greeting to the others as the Paladin of light introduces her. She watches in slight awe as first the Paladin and then Cerric heal the wounded. Healing magic is the only kind she really finds useful; she has never truly found mages to be trustworthy.

She smirks slightly at Logan’s question about her ‘skills’ and shrugs, “I’m whatever I need to be sometimes.”

Seeing Brianna bring the mounts and the rest of the group is back on their feet and discussing their next move she adds, “I think Brianna has the right idea, whatever we do we might want to be mounted so we have better mobility.”

Having added her opinion, she hurried over and took the reins of her horse and thanked Brianna with a nod as she quickly swung up into the saddle and one again kept vigil with her bow over the group. She has always liked the shooting her bow from the slightly higher elevation of her horse’s back and using the horse’s speed to ride around opponents on foot.

((OOC: I will stick with this post as she had already given her advice for the moment and will continue in this course of action until something changes or someone suggests something different.))

“The Goddess finds favor with all those who do her work, as I am sure she will be with your graciousness.” Varuna replied to Valendara with a smile. He listened to her curiosity at the phrase ‘Salty Dog’ and chuckled, “I think you will find much of the human’s language to be .. unique and.. flavorful.”

He too found such words to be of interest be he didn’t write them down, having little in the way of writing implements, and frankly he didn’t find them as interesting as Valendara apparently found them.

Varuna took the proffered vial from Valendara and sniffed it, “It is a nice smell though a bit overpowering I think.”

“Actually I find the smell of the sea quite refreshing”, he said as he handed the vial back to her and taking a deep breath of air. He wrinkled his nose at the pungent aroma’s of the town, sea air mixed with human waste and garbage, then said with a smirk, “Though at the moment, it leaves a lot to be desired.”

Reaching the Tavern he smiles at the sign as he slips from his saddle with a groan and feels no lack of pride in rubbing his posterior with both hands briskly, “I think I am going to be numb for the rest of my life.” and ties his reins to the supplied hitching post and staggers inside.

Stepping into the Tavern he smiles at the smell of food and drink, he greets the barkeep in return and points out a table big enough for the group and heads over and sits down with another groan; at least this seat isn’t moving.

Varuna greets the waitress with a smile when she arrives, “A good day to you too Lass, how about a bowl of stew and some bread and ..” digging into his pouch to count his coins, “ a mead as well.”

Vatta nodded to Lorae’s comment and threw one leg over the pommel and slipped from the saddle to the ground easily all the while keeping her arrow notched in her bow at the ready. She quickly looped the rein around the pommel of the Paladin’s magnificent steed and followed Cerric and Lorae into the underbrush.

“I got your Back!” she states.

She keeps to the rear just slightly for several reasons, one so she can cover them both in case of attack and two because she knows that the Priest’s healing skills will probably be needed to help Lorae’s friends.

Coming into the area where the others are waiting, she scans the area quickly and seeing no orcs she stand guard. She keeps her vigilance upon the surrounding woods, her keen senses listening attentively for signs that the orcs will be returning.

She glances at the companions of Lorae, sizing them up; she sees a Dwarven Warrior, An cloaked Elvin man with a bow, a tall warrior woman leans over a male warrior laying on the ground covered in blood. Next to them lay the body of a large orc, a chieftain from the looks of his garb; obviously the cause of the male warrior’s wounds.

Having no healing ability, other than some potions in her backpack, she stands watch with bow at the ready, keeping a watchful eye on the area.

Hearing Flames call that there is fighting ahead and knowing it has to be Lorae’s friends, Vatta is anxious to gallop into the forest. She can see that the way is heavy with vegetation and knows it could take too long to make their way to them if they are deep in the forest.

Vatta is awed by the green light coming from the gem and when Lorae takes off at a gallop she charges her horse after her. She is amazed at the ease in which they make their way through the thick brush and over fallen trees as easily as riding across the open steppe. Magic sure has it’s uses, she thinks.

When they flash past a group of orcs she almost drew and fired upon them but seeing Lorae continue on she follows concluding that her friends must by deeper into the forest.

When they come to the clearing and stop, Vatta’s bow is off of her saddle and an arrow is notched and ready to draw in an instant if a target presents itself. Seeing the decapitated orc corpses she scans the area for others; on constant alert for attack.

Not seeing anyone in the clearing, friend or foe, other than themselves, Vatta waits for Lorae and Cerric to move and she will follow them. If any orcs appear she will immediately draw and fire to protect the Paladin of Light and the Priest of Knowledge.

Subject: Boredom.. a bad thing for an engineer!

Ziv sat for awhile and sighed, bored he hops up off of the couch and grabs his bag, slings it over his shoulder and heads outside. Looking around he spies the R45s sitting there and smiles. Shambling over to the land speeders he sets his bag down and pops the maintenance compartment and peers inside. Seeing a lot of patch work here and there he shakes his head.

“Man, what a mess!”

Bending down he opens his bag and brings out a hydro spanner and his data pad and starts tinkering with the engines. Running calculations on his data pad and recalling old specs, he tries to find ways to enhance the engines output and reduce energy usage. (Lets GM decide on success - Craft (Landspeeders) +5, and Repair +12).

As he tinkers his mind wanders a bit, mostly about their current situation and new comrades. Lana he knows well, having worked with her for over a year now, and while they argue constantly, mostly over technical stuff, he trusts her the most.

His thoughts dwell on the new comers...

While he is impressed with the Jedi and his abilities, he still doesn’t know if he can trust him. The Jedis are known as keepers of the Law and peace, and while he has nothing against the peace part he has been known to bend the law sometimes; when he can get away with it. You can’t expect him to make it on an engineer’s salary. He doesn’t deal in anything that will hurt people, just small jobs that make a tidy profit. Spice was something he never would have had any dealings and frankly he was surprised learning the Captain was hauling a cargo.

While Ziv knew that the Jedi didn’t know about any of his law bending, he still wasn’t sure if having a Jedi around was a good idea. Still, the blind man was certainly good in a fight. He was impressed, but he tried to hide it.

The Twilek was a strange one and something about him made Ziv trust him the least. He seemed to be hiding something and he seemed so cryptic and secretive, it made Ziv wonder if he was a criminal or something. He didn’t know but he was sure going to keep his eye on that one.

The Pilot, Mercury, he knew from the ship and he had always seemed a decent guy, though Pilots and Engineers didn’t hang out much when off duty. Still, Mercury seemed an alright sort and their mutual loss of the ship sort of put Lana and them together as a group of land locked travelers. He hoped they found a way off this rock soon, he didn’t like planetside for too long, he bored easily.

As the hour grows late and 2000 hour approaches, Ziv wipes the sweat from his brow and puts his tools away. Running a last minute check of the system, he doesn’t see anything he missed so he guesses it is the best he can do.

Shutting the engine compartments he picks up his bag and walks back to the house and plops his bag on a chair out of the way and asks of anyone there, “Dinner ready, I’m Starving!”

((OOC: Can edit for back posts if anyone interferes or interacts with Ziv))

YeOlde: Mirthril Knights are available to play, provided the Pre-req's are met. I'll probably limit the PrC to one player though, as the class is rare and prestigious.

You know.. on second thought. After looking over the Mithril Knight I dont think I can do the character class justice and so I will find some other Character class to play.

~Points at Tek~ Theres another candidate for Mithril Knight and I am sure a far superior one at that.

Hmm.. not having any of the books and such I am slow at generating Characters for 3 or 3.5ed so it will take me some time to get a character decided and fleshed out.

The Mithril Knights look cool.. are those available to play?

Jaal's face splits into a huge grin as Caise accepts his offer of hospitality. "Oustanding!" he exclaims. "Don't worry about my father - guests are always welcomed on Darand Plantation. Well, at least they are usually welcomed."

Ziv rolled his eyes at Jaal’s enthusiasm over the Jedi’s acceptance; for while he had to admit, only to himself, the Jedi was indeed handy to have around when the blaster bolts started flying, he didn’t feel in awe of them like alot of people.

The party piles into the two landspeeders, taking advantage of the extra seating capacity that Jaal so highly touted. Lana ends up sitting next to Mercury. "Classics? These hunks of floating rust?" she snorts derisively. "Classic in the same sense as fossils, maybe."

He piled into the back of one of the speeders and watched the landscape as they raced to the Plantation. He chuckled at Lana’s typical sarcastic response to Mercury’s comment about the R45s, “Well you should know a ‘hunk of floating rust’ when you see it…afterall you were aboard the Kul Kura.” He laughed at his joke knowing that it would probably anger her which he loved to do.

The landspeeders follow a dirt track roughly north, where the native flora soon gives way to vast fields of grain. Before long, a group of structures, with one particularly larger than the others, comes into view. "Welcome to Darand Plantation!" Jaal exclaims as the speeders whir to a stop in front of the house. "Okay, everybody out. We'll feed you, give you a bed, even a hydro shower if you want one."

Ziv hops out of the speeder and grabs his gear and looks around nodding appreciatively, “Not a bad spread,“ He says to no one in particular.

Gerald Darand proves to be much larger and imposing than his son - they share coppery locks, but little else. Despite Jeena's concerns, he is welcoming enough - while not overly warm, he is polite, and offers you free use of his home. Once he recognizes Caise as a jedi, he seems to grow thoughtful for a moment, but that is all.

“We serve dinner at 2000 standard," he explains, "and as I'm sure Jaal told you, he will be visiting the city in the morning - be ready to go by 0600. If you require anything, ask my servant, Craln, or one of the droids." He glances at Jaal. "Now, if you will excuse me, I have business to attend to."

With that, he leaves.

“Pleasant man..” he mutters slightly and drops his bag down on the floor with a clank and checks out the place seeming not to care that he might be prying into anything private. He soon finds a comfortable chair or couch to plop down on and kicks his feet up. “When was dinner?” He asks not two minutes after the father had told them all, “I’m starving!”

Topic: The Guiding Light
Subject: Take my horse... please!

Varuna noticed Tal’Anor’s glare at the guard and how a single look from En’Aranthea squelched any angry comment about the guard’s rudeness. He smiled slightly at the Sylvari’s confusion of human’s and their ways; if he hadn’t been raised by the human priest of his order he would probably have the same feelings towards them. He didn’t mistake their words and mutterings as a hatred or even dislike of humans, just their ways were strange; much like the Sylvari’s ways were to him. Afterall, being around humans most of his life hadn’t taught him much about the other half of his lineage.

He sighed when the guard refused to wave the fee for a humble priest, but when Valendara paid his fee he was stunned for a moment and said nothing. When they entered the town he spurred his horse to catch up to them and pulled up along side of Val and bowed his head, “Thank you for that.. I could have paid..,” he stumbled with his words, “I do have some coins.. But I wanted to save the few I have to give to the needy… a silver coin could feed a family for a week.”

He seemed embarrassed by his need to have someone pay for him, “The goddess smile upon you, Dear Lady.” He smiled at her and then looked around at the town as they rode through and marveled that it was much cleaner than others he had seen and thought that perhaps the entry fee was being put to good use.

He couldn’t help but overhear Tal’Anor and En’Aranthea’s conversation and when she asked if humans ate dogs he chuckled loudly, “Pardon Milady, but humans don’t eat dogs, well not the civilized ones anyway, I believe it is a Sailing term of whose origins I am regrettably unfamiliar.”

Although he had said that most humans didn’t eat dogs he could recall seeing poverty stricken people eating dogs, cats, any meat they could get their hands on all in the name of survival. The thought caused his stomach to turn, but he could imagine that almost anyone would partake of such a repast if times were desperate.

He had also overheard them speak of meeting their contacts at this Tavern, but really he didn’t care about that all he wanted was a nice bed for once. Just to get off of this horse for a day or so would greatly improve his morale as well as the condition of his back end.

Vatta returns Lorae’s smile with an even bigger one and nods her head enthusiastically. She lets let Cerric follow the Paladin so that she can keep a watchful eye on him and she falls in behind keeping watch over the rear of the party.

She guides her horse easily behind them keeping pace and unstraps her bow and makes sure that her quiver is free and gives easy access so she can be ready the instant she neds to be.

She feels a rush as she follows them, but she doesn’t let the feeling of pending excitement hinder her scanning of the surrounding area using all her skills and abilities to ensure that no one surprises them from the side or behind.

She glances at Flame from time to time and smiles reminded of another friend of hers who had a Fairy Dragon as a familiar. She almost chuckled thinking of all the trouble that mischievous little dragon had caused when she had traveled with that group. She secretly hoped that Flame wasn’t a distant cousin of the Fairy Dragon.
