"Sir," Alea, give Alacran a long look confirming her previous assessment of him, then she speaks so that only those at their table can hear. "it seems our respective Deities have brought us here, to this world, to deal with the problem of the Dark One."

Alea quickly, yet succinctly begins at the very beginning of them being whisped here by their deities and then quickly and carefully related everything that had happened to them from waking in the ridge overlooking the ocean to this moment.

"Unfortunately Siliwen has been targeted from the beginning with twisted nightmares and the like. Last night the Wolves that attacked us were after her and when the failed, this elaborate scheme was contrived to get rid of her."

While Alea and Siliwen relates their tale, Karl comes out and brings a hearty breakfast to the table, eggs, bacon, bread, milk and honey. He will also get any other drinks anyone asks of him. He does not interrupt the tale, only bringing in quickly what is needed and withdrawing back to the kitchen. Soon he is fetching more food for other patrons that have come down to eat, all sitting at tables out of earshot of the groups table giving them their privacy.

Alacran sat quietly, sipping his wine but not partaking of the food; he says he had already dined before arriving. He listened intently to everything Alea and Siliwen said, nodding slightly now and then as if understanding all she related to him. When she was finished he drained the last draught from his glass and refilled it from his decanter, again he offered it to anyone who wished any. He sat in silent contemplation for a few long moments as people finished up their meals.

With this said Riddle gets up and leaves the table to go sit back down with the others, right next to Alacran to be specific hands casually resting on the hilts of his scimitars. Stating with out missing a beat,

"Forgive me for my rude interruption I had some personal business to attend to with my rather large friend here a, little wager that I have lost."

After this has been said Riddle just sits in silence watching, listening and waiting.

"Yes he lost and we were simply discussing the payment. I believe it was 1 gold piece was it not? I guess you will be paying me that now." Billy smiled, winked at Riddle and thought himself very smart for his little trick.

Alacran nodded slightly as he appeared lost in thought, other than the nod he doesn’t appear to notice anything unusual like Riddle’s hands on the hilts of his weapons.

Alea pauses and looks at the man. Now she is in a quandry. She will admit a high magic user or cleric could trick her, and overpower what few spells she has.

She puts hers hand to her holy symbol and silently calls on Corellon's guidance.

Alea feels nothing in response to her silent prayer, not even the normally warm feeling she gets when she just seeks the comforting presence of her god.

Finally Alacran takes another sip of wine, looks up at Siliwen and leaning forward he sits his glass on the table.

“I believe the guilt you feel at your mentor’s death has drawn the agents of the Dark One to you,” he says softly to her, “I have no doubt that you have been marked in some way and it keeps them aware of your location.”

Alacran slowly rises to his feet, leaving his staff leaning against the wall where he sat. He walks around the table to stand before Siliwen, looking down into her face as he smiles softly at her.

“If I may,” he asks, “I will cast a minor enchantment to see if you are indeed marked.” Alacran slowly raises his hands in front of him he closes his eyes for a few seconds, the party feel nothing evil or wrong in his intent. A soft warm glow spreads over his hands, emanating from them, the glow grows in the air until it touches Siliwen’s forehead.

She feels nothing other than a slightly warmth where the glow touches her skin. Slowly the rest of the group can see something begin to appear on Siliwen’s forehead inside the glow. Alacran opens his eyes and the glow fades, but the mark on Siliwen’s forehead remains.

The symbol looks very much like a stylish letter S laying on it’s side glowing slightly in a blood red color. It remains for several seconds after Alacran stopped his spell, then it slowly fades away.

“As I thought,“ Alacran says with a sigh, “the mark of the Shelnak..that is how they have been finding you and as long as you wear it they will continue to find you.” He returns to his seat looking at Siliwen then the rest of the group.

“Evil Magic,“ Thor grumbles as he picks up the mug of ale he ordered for his breakfast. He looks at the others before taking a long pull on his drink, slamming the mug down on the table he wipes the froth from his mouth with the back of his hand.

“Well?” Thor asks, “What we going to do? We wont get far with these beasties on our tail every step of the way.”

As the party sits in silence pondering this question, Alacran clears his throat slightly.

“I may be able to help you,” he says looking at Siliwen again, “If you will let me.” His gaze turns to Riddle sitting next to him, his hands on the hilt of his swords. “I get the impression everyone here isn’t to trusting or grateful for the help I have given thus far.”

He sits back looking around at all of them again, a slight hurt look upon his face.

“I have a spell that I may be able to remove or at least block the tracking glyph on her and allow you to go on your way without them being aware of your every move,” he states as his gaze settles on Siliwen again, “of course you will have to trust me to attempt it.”

He picks up his glass again, sipping his wine waiting on them to make a decision. Do they trust his mage who they just met, one who saved them from a mob intent on lynching Siliwen for murder, one who thus far has shown no reason to harm any of them?

“Well that depends on who you ask” The large Nomad stated in a calm yet very icy voice, his finger on the MPK’s trigger, “But I’m Croaker and like Scribe said, for the moment I am.”

Mae’s silver orbs locked onto Croaker as he spoke, a faint smile came to his lips and he nodded slightly.

“Good enough,” he said, “just wanting to know who the boss is here.”

The large solo sat back in his chair seeming to relax a bit, but his right hand never left his side only inches away from his Smart linked .44 Automag. He hadn’t failed to notice the Nomad’s right hand was beneath the table, no doubt holding a gun of some sort ready to use it if needed. In the silence that followed Croaker’s statement, Mae thought he could hear the faint sound of a safety switch being flipped.

He had also noticed the Nomad’s brief glance towards the one called Bull’s Eye, a warning glance perhaps. It seemed for some reason Croaker didn’t trust him, fair enough he thought. He couldn’t blame him since he was an unknown factor here and no doubt a dangerous one too.

He kept the faint smile on his lips as he raised his left hand slowly and signaled the waitress over to the table and ordered a drink.

“Glenmorangie… Neat!”

He returned his left hand to the table top and sat waiting on his drink and waited to hear the plan. He would wait till those in charge laid out what they thought and if he heard anything he could add then he would put in his opinion, otherwise he remained silent as the grave.

OOC: Edited the name of your whisky. Sorry about that. Couldn't resist. Good whisky that, though I've only had the chance to taste the original and prefer the Islay whiskies over the Highland ones.

Subject: Drags this thread out of the closet and dusts it off ~cough~

Ok.. Working on a C here in case it is needed in the future, went looking for the Serenity RPG Resources and the link is either broken or the site doesn’t exist anymore.

Need to find out what gear I can purchase for my C.

As a side note, I don’t agree with the timeline posted earlier about when the Characters of the Firefly Serenity were born:

Mal, being born in 2468, would be 49? I don’t think so.. The actor himself is only 37 right now and was younger when he Firefly was on the air.

Jayne now could be 40, being born in 2477, the actor is now 46, so that fits. The others all seem right too.

Sorry just a little tidbit I noticed.

Alacrity - You know anyplace else I can get the list of gears, weapons, etc along with costs?

Thanks!

I hear what your saying Brom… but since cdnflirt expressed an interest in taking over the C for now.. I think you should ask her.. or as you suggested maybe you ‘preserving that dash of Dash’ in your own posts until Robert returns or the character is dropped.

I am working on a new C at the moment using the Looking for Brown Coats thread.. very interesting RPG system. I will have a pilot ready in case Dash is unable to continue.

In the end, I guess the decision is ultimately up to the DM.

Subject: The tale...

Location: Northpoint Road – Leeside Way Inn
Date/Time: Day Three - Shortly after Sunrise

"I, for one, wish to thank you for your timely intervention. Now, I will let the others thank you. I believe, if we are to get breakfast the Gentle Wife of the Innkeeper is going to need help in the kitchen." As with most roadside inns the wife was the cook and she would be too distraught to do so. Though Alea knew, work was a balm for grief and she would try to get the woman involved in breakfast as soon as she could.

Alacran nods his head to Alea acknowledging her words, “Yes you are right, but I doubt the woman will be much up to cooking but I think you will find she has a couple of helpers in there besides Karl who you can get to work.”

"Riddle, Billy, will one of you escort Siliwen up to our room so she can wash and change?" By which she also meant for whomever went with her to guard her.

Siliwen first steps forward to Alacan. “Thank you for your presence and insight. I hope you will be here when I get back I will not take long. There are things we would like to ask you. Please," Siliwen added softly.

“Do not fear I will be here when you return,” Alacran says softly with a warm smile, “and we will hear your tale and perhaps I can help you.”

At Alea's request, Billy sheathed his sword and escorted Siliwen upstairs where she could clean herself. 'What the heck is a Shelnak?' Billy wondered silently.

" You are right seperating your self from the group would not be a good idea, now i am going to leave you in billys capable hands and go out side and see what i might find in the way of an escape rout or mayhaps some signs of our killer." as Riddle says this he begins moving to the door.

When Riddle says that he will go outside to check the surround area for signs of the real killer, Thor decides he will go upstairs with Billy and Siliwen to keep a watch over her. While Siliwen is in the room washing up and changing, he stands in the hallway with Billy, staying alert and ready for more trouble.

He quickly steps out side and begins walking around the building searching for signs of the killer as well as a possible escape rout.. once he has spent enough time to satisfy his curiousity he walks a few feet into the forest and sits simply watching what is going on around the inn and listening for anything that might be a reason for him to rush into the inn again. while he sits he ponders the ever elusive question why siliwen.

"ah how i miss my grove" whispers riddle to himself at that thought riddle gets up and begins pacing the outside perimiter of the inn still looking for signs and ponering why siliwen. In his pacing his eye becomes drawn to the mark on his hand "..... trust no one who does not bear this mark" the thought of that night still made him un easy. He quickly altered his course to inside to find this goodly mage if thats what he was.

Returning to the common room Siliwen looks around for Alacan.

While Billy, Thor and Siliwen went upstairs, Riddle went outside to search the area, and Alea got a few of the other patrons to help get the kitchen going, Alacran began supervising the cleanup of the common area with a couple of other patrons.

Alea found two helpers in the kitchen and was told that Karl was taking care of the wife. She found one man among the patrons who claimed to have been a kitchen helper when he was a lad, and he helped the two cooks/assistants get a decent breakfast started for all. Karl made an appearance and nodded at what he saw. He spoke briefly to Alea and told her that the ‘Misses’ was not up to doing anything right now and that he would be taking care of things for now. The poor woman was resting and he would check on her from time to time. Karl relieved Alea from kitchen duties, thanking her for her efforts, as he took over and saw that the guests would have a hot meal shortly.

Riddle searched the grounds around the stabling yard, the buildings themselves, Inn and Stable, and only found normal footprints and nothing suspicious looking or odd. The only fresh prints were those leading up to the front door from out of the field and he surmised that those belonged to the mage Alacran who recently entered. He found no unusual signs in the forest near the Inn, though he did notice something strange; he didn’t hear any of the usual noise of the forest, no birds signing or other animal movements his keen hearing were use to hearing. It was oddly quiet around the complete area.

Siliwen, Thor and Billy (if he returned to the downstairs with Siliwen, I will assume he did) arrive first in the common area and hear the noise of work going on in the kitchen, obviously Alea found someone to start breakfast.

They find the common room back in order, they see no sign that there ever was any trouble here. The door stands open, the windows are unshuttered and open, and a cool morning breeze has swept the room clean of the foul scent of death.
They find Alacran sitting now at a lone table, in the far corner near the window, a decanter of some white wine in front of him, and some glasses on the table, the glass in front of him half full. He sips at the wine looking out the window at the beautiful new day. He hears them come down the stairs and he smiles and gestures them to join him at his table.

“I hear the sounds of cooking coming from the kitchen,” he says with a slight smile, “I expect we will have something to eat very soon.”

He turns to gaze upon Siliwen, his smile fades as he looks at her as if almost seeing right through her, seeing her anguish

“I see you are troubled,” he finally says, “and I would like to hear your tale, especially anything to do with these attacks Alea mentioned.”

As if at the mention of her name, Alea appears from the kitchen her job in there apparently done. Seconds later, Riddle enters and spots the group at the large table.

“Please join us,” Alacran says to them, “I was about to hear your story.” He sips his wine waiting on someone to begin.

(OOC: I posted a short action for Thor since Dragonmist hasn’t posted and I haven’t heard anything from him for days. I hate to post anything for anyone but I don’t want to hold things up if only one person cant get online to post.

As for the tale, you don’t have to tell the tale entirely in this thread, just state what is being told and what, if anything, is being withheld. If there is something you do not wish to tell Alacran, then be specific that you did not mention it, otherwise I will assume everything was told to him. I mention this only because I can see some posters appear to be a –bit- paranoid… I don’t know why! )

I am sorry guys I would love to be in this game but I just have this thing about taking over other's characters. In situations like that I feel committed to playing the character as it's former owner did and I feel that I just cant do it justice.

Besides there is always the 'relationship' issue with another C that might be in place and I dont like to participate in that sort of RP.

Hence, I avoid that altogether.

But as I said, if an opening comes up for a New character, let me know and I will gladly be up to playing it.

Heck, I wouldnt mind playing an adversary of the group, an Alliance agent, a fence, a bounty hunter, etc. Wouldnt have to be someone in every scene either. That would be fun!

Just let me know if something comes up!

"I truly magnificent animal," she gets out and looks about to the others to see their reactions, hoping to hide the quivering of her lips.

“Yes,” Vatta manages to get out while holding in her mirth, “Truly magnificent.”

Looking from Highnar to the mount, then back again she can contain herself no longer.

"Good afternoon MDK, yes we were just informed of your arrival,” Jaimy smiled gently, almost easily as she nodded and spoke.

Mae nodded to Peacekeepers acknowledgement of them being informed of his joining the group. His eyes scanned the others in the party noting they all seemed dangerous and capable.

“Have a seat, Mr. MDK,” Scribe made nice as the host since it would appear all of the guns were more prone to just sit and stare at each other. “We’re about to order some food, and make some reports before deciding on our next course of action. Introductions all around: I’m DigitalScribe, this here is Guardian, currently hired on as my bodyguard—I tend to like to stay in one piece. That’s Spiff; he’s got the connections, if you know what I mean, and that’s his shield, Preacher there looking like he’s ready to ride bull. Smiles over there is Firewind, our medtech, and the lotus there is Peacekeeper. Our intrepid leader is Croaker at the head of the table, and his brother Bull's Eye. We know you’re MDK, but who’s this fellow?”

Mae looked at each of the people as he was introduced to them… Guardian.. He had heard the name of course, a very popular and successful bodyguard.. The word was that if you had the money there was no better bodyguard; he nodded slightly to him.

He nodded to each of the others, Preacher, Spiff, Firewind, Croaker, and Bull’s Eye; he didn’t recognize any of them though his first impression was they all seemed quite capable of handling themselves in a scrap.

Peacekeeper he had definitely heard of before; he seemed to recall that she had brought down a few of his mark’s in the past before he got to them. He didn’t think much of it now, but back then he would have gladly put a bullet in her brainpan just out of courtesy. He knew better than to think just because she was a woman she was any less dangerous than the others. From what he currently knew of these people, she would be the one he would consider the most deadly and therefore the one to watch.

When Digital Scribe asked about Lightning, he smirked a little and gestured with his head to him.

“His name is Lightning, he’s a Techie,“ he said by way of introduction. “I was told to round up any help I could find,” his smirk grew slightly, “the best I could do on such short notice.” He left the rest of Lightning’s intro to him.

Mae sat down in an open chair, flinging the right side of his coat back so his gun was ready at hand if anything went down. His left side not far from his weapon. He still didn’t know these people and as of yet he didn’t trust them. It was a job, and he knew from experience that sometimes things went wrong and people turned on you for the oddest reasons, mostly that was money.

He listened to Scribe talk about ‘last night’s altercation’ he knew nothing of it but filed away the information for later; he never knew what might come in handy.

“Now, what’s our next move?”

In this moment Peacekeeper drew everyones attention. Her face seemed to reveal nothing of why she desired their attention, only that she would speak whether they listened or not. After putting her phone away she spoke "I've got a location. There's only a two-lane road that leads to our location, and there is 10 of us. It would be much too suspicious if all of us climbed into one vehicle to get there. It's just over 10 miles from the city. There is a lot of coverage by pine and mountains, but I think if we can devise a plan we could find a way to overcome the security gate." she shrugged slightly and her gaze sought each in turn searching for their reply and reactions. Jaimy delivered the location, now they had to come up with a plan to get past security, and to get inside to finish the rest of the plan. After a short pause she added "I should be getting blue prints shortly, if all goes well" she fell silent and sipped at her drink.

As she spoke he ran the details through his mind, memorizing them. He reached up with his left hand and removed his dark shades as he thought, revealing his solid silver orbs, and tucked the shades inside his coat. Turning to the group he asked a question he thought important for him at least.

“Who is in charge here?” He had been told he would be meeting a guy named Croaker and figured he would be the leader. So far he had heard mostly from Digital Scribe and Peacekeeper while the man identified as Croaker remained silent. He pondered this and waited on an answer wondering if maybe Croaker was just a figurehead, a boss who let his people plan the jobs and then take all the credit for the success. Only time would tell.

“We should hang her!”

"Corellon curse the Dark One," Alea spit out angerily. "His minions have been trying to get at Siliwen since we killed the Na'sir and drove off the wolfman last night."

"There has been a concerted and foul attempt to get rid of her, the Dark One must fear her to go to this length."

"Until moments ago Siliwen was in her bed asleep, some fell magic brought her here to be blamed for this. for I was at guard in the doorway, as we kept guard all night, fearing another attack." Alea is speaking fast and furious, trying to defuse the situation. "One of you warriors must know the fell of a dead man. Come feel this one he has been dead for a while, look at the amount of blood pooled here. Also consider the power needed to drive such a crude weapon so deeply into the chest. No meer girl could do that."

Siliwen looks up at Riddle as he helps her to her feet. "I did not kill him," she says simply, even though she was not sure of the truth of this statement. She did not consciously kill him that was for sure, but how ot prove it would be the hard part of this matter. Siliwen looks at the blood on her hands and for the blood that should be on her clothes if she had somehow did this heinous act under compulsion. If she had struck the blow she should have sprays of blood across the front of her somewhere.

With even more feeling she calls out clearly into the common room. "I did not kill the innkeeper. How could I have wielded that piece of metal like a weapon against a man of his size and for what reason would I do such a thing."

Billy turns to Karl, "If you wouldn't mind, could you help me ge the poor widow back into the kitchen? Seeing all this isn't going to do her any good. Is there a town constable or someone in charge who can help make sense of this whole thing?"

Karl stands protectively in front of the widow shielding her from everyone and eyes Billy suspiciously. “Come no closer,” he says sounding as if he will fight the big man to protect the woman, “it seems quite obvious about what is going on around here.” He sounds much like the others in the room, having already seen enough to come to a verdict on the guilty party.

“We are supposed to believe them?” One man says after the outbursts from Alea and Siliwen make them pause, and the crowd begins to close in again, their hands moving to their weapons. It looks like they will have to fight if they wish to protect Siliwen.

Suddenly, a burst of light brightens the room and a clap sounding like thunder erupts through Inn. The front door suddenly swings open, the bar holding it closed parts easily as if it were made of kindling and a figure walks into the Inn and stands in the doorway. The people closing on Siliwen pause and shield their eyes from the bright light; a few even draw weapons as if expecting an attack.

“HOLD!” a voice bellows from the doorway, it is a powerful authoritative voice which seems to freeze those closing in on the group.

Drawing everyone’s attention is a middle aged human man standing there dressed in simple brown robes carrying a simple wooden staff topped by a round multifaceted cyrstal. He is a handsome looking man, with shoulder length brown hair and a close cropped beard and mustache. He looks about the room taking in the entire scene before him.

Seeing the dead body of the barkeep on the floor, he walks over to it and after looking at it for a few seconds he looks back up at the group. His deep brown eyes scan each of them in turn, he pauses looking at Siliwen noting the bloody hands and then back to the body.

“Alacran,” someone whispers from the mob and the weapons are slowly returned to their resting places. Everyone moves back from the party now, the urge to hang someone apparently forgotten for now.

The man looks up and spots Karl standing guard in front of the crying widow, he walks past the group and approaches him, lays a hand on the man’s shoulder, “You should take Sara to her room,” the man tells him softly, “I will tend to things here.”

Karl nods and turning helps the woman to her feet and slowly leads her back into the kitchen and soon her sobbing fades away.

The man turns back to the room and eyes the mob as he walks over to the body once again. Facing the room he goes to one knee and drawing a slip of cloth from his robe he wraps it around his hand and with a twisting motion pulls the iron spike from the dead man’s chest. The floor board creaks when it is withdrawn telling of how deeply it was imbedded in the wood beneath. Standing the man holds out the bloody weapon to everyone in the room.

“You all have seen these before no doubt,” he states addressing the mob and not the party, “it is a Shelnak stave.”

He looked at the party his eyes settling on Siliwen and her bloody hands and noting there is no other blood anywhere on her person.

“These people aren’t Shelnaks, “he says softly yet firmly, “anyone can see that!”

He wraps the iron stave in the cloth seeming to take great care not to touch the weapon with his bare skin. He looks up at the mob and frowns.

“Well?” he says, “Some of you grab some sheets and cover the body and put it in one of the storage rooms for now till the poor woman can make arrangements for burial.” One man races upstairs to the rooms while a couple more move over to the body; a few murmured apologies can be heard as they pass the group. The rest of the mob disperses as the man walks over to the party.

“Well now,” he says with a faint smile coming to his lips, “That makes for an interesting morning.” His smile fades as he turns his head slightly to watch the men cover the body with sheets and begin to wrap it up and carry it away.

“My name is Alacran!” the man states simply as he returns his gaze to the party, “It would be my guess that you are not from around here,” His eyes passing over the dwarf and the elves in the party.

"I killed a man to watch him die."

The only sign Talon gave that he had even heard her words was that he stopped scratching behind his ear. He downed the rest of his drink and banged the glass down on the table and when one of the wait staff looked over he gestured to his drink indicating he needed a refill.

He turned his attention back to the Bajoran woman trying to tell if she was joking with him or not. Humans were hard to read; Lyran expressions were all usually fierce looking and he imagined that humans had the same problem with Lyrans. He saw the small smile she gave and he chuckled slightly, maybe she would think he didn’t believe her but for some reason he didn’t doubt she was capable of murder.

"I have," she whispered, her voice conspiratory in quietness, "the distinction of having flown a Dominion craft from the very darkness of Hell itself…. And if i can pilot that, I can fly damn near anything. Now..."

She sat back and watched him carefully through narrowed eyes. "...why would Starfleet be so interested in that?"

He studied her while the waiter came up with a fresh drink and taking his empty glass hurried away. He didn’t know how much she might have been told about the mission and he was sure he wasn’t at liberty to discuss mission specifics with someone recently assigned to the ship.

“Well …” he said lifting his fresh glass, “..I hoped you enjoyed your stay in Hell, Lt. Mas’Riat… because the –boatman- will be giving you a round trip return.” He grinned and downed half the glass in one gulp, then he laughed. He was sure there were extenuating circumstances to why the Bajoran was assigned to the Charon at this time, to him it felt more like a punishment then a gift. With her abrasive attitude he was thinking that maybe she had angered someone who had authority and here she was, like it or not… probably not.

Vatta smiled at Cerric little chuckle, the man was starting to loosen up and she thought maybe his spine hadn’t been replaced by book bindings. The more he saw of the real world outside the library the better he would come to understand it. Some things you couldn’t learn in books.

She followed the others outside to watch the spectacle with the stone horse: she thought it might be funny to see a dwarf riding atop it. It might brighten the day a bit.

She only nodded to Brianna’s mention of asking the others if they thought it ok for her to partake in spoils of the previous battles. Either way it didn’t matter a lot of Vatta, she wasn’t in this for the spoils. Oh she liked the occasional trinket or so, but he previous endeavors had left her with no shortage of funds stashed here or there. Having grew up poor she found herself frugal most of the time with her money. When one was use to nothing, a little something went a long way.

"Half, actually. But at least when I get wet, I don't smell like Cardassian foot fungus."

Talon started at her remark and his eyes widened, then he smiled and burst out in a loud boisterous laugh.

“Well Lt. I know which -half- you belong to.” He said with a grin.

He took a sip of his drink trying to understand this Bajoran. No human he had ever met had the guts to speak to him so, he admired her Kerz’aszt and liked her seeming fearlessness already.

“So tell me Lt Mas’Riat… what did you do get assigned to this Fr’itzs’san mission?” He asked using what she can only assume is a expletive in his own tongue.

He reclined back in his seat, his drink in one hand while with the other hand he absently scratched behind his ear reminding her so much like a common pet cat.

(Backposting)

Before going to bed Alean checks out the room and when all is to her satisfaction she wedges the window closed with her dagger. Should someone open the window, the dagger would fall alerting them of danger. Alea only removed her cloak and boots to rest, she wanted to be ready on a moments snotice, for that she had her bow leaning up against the top of her bead with her quiver, and she unsheathes her sword and lays it beside her body. She sleep facing into the room, and where she can clearly see Siliwen.

When woken Alea goes to the door when woken by the special knock that had been chosen and nods to Riddle. She puts on her boots and gathers her weapons. Alea opens the door and proceeds to move the chair to the doorway of their room, where she could see most of their room and the hallway near the boys’ room. She is happy that it seemed the Siliwen was not disturbed in the night, or her sleep broken by ill-sent dreams of her mentor. She sings softly and prays for part of her watch and then inspects and tends to her bow, arrows, and other weapons. She thanks Corellon for stand by her, and prays for her spells for the day.

A bloodcurdling scream splits the air from below. Alea, already armed, races from her chair and downstairs as fast as she can go On seeing Siliwen there bloodstained and standing over a bloody body, Alea immediately knows something is not right. There was not way Siliwen could have gotten out of the room passed her.

From where Alea sat in the hallway, with the door open, she could see Siliwen sleeping peacefully in her bed and the dagger still wedged into the barred window every time she looked into the room.

When the scream sounded her first instinct was to look into the room where she saw the light blanket that had covered Siliwen was still in the bed only now she could see that no one was laying beneath it. The dagger was still wedged in the window exactly as she had put it.

When he is awakened in the morning by the screams of a woman Thor's first reaction and thoughts go to Siliwen and Alea in the room across the hall. Grabbing his weapons and dashing out of his room and directly across to the other room he busts in only to see that there is no one in the room. Quickly rushing back out as he hears another scream this time he can tell it is coming fro down stairs he heads in that direction.

Thor dashed out of the room and saw Alea running down the hallway towards the stairs, looking into the open door of the ladies room he saw the window closed, barred and a dagger wedged into the opening. Both of the beds were empty.

(Current)

"Milady i doubt that what happened here was done at the hands of my friend this is not her method and she does not kill innocent people for no reason." Came riddles voice again this time addressing the dead mans wife.
The woman who had screamed was horrified and yet she managed after hearing Riddles voice to again say, “She killed him!”

Karl the waiter came out of the kitchen and taking in the scene paused and moved in front of the woman as if to shield her from the people in the room as if afraid someone would attack her.

Alea immediately moves to the fallen man, to see if there is anything she can do to save him, for now the cleric was focused on saving a life.

Alea can tell as she kneels down next to the barkeep that he is quite dead. The 18 inch piece of metal protruding from his chest appears to be a triangular piece of iron. It is rough shaped with edges that are nor razor sharp. It is a crude weapon, roughly fashioned yet quite deadly when thrust into a person’s heart. She realizes that helping his man is beyond her powers.

As the party move into the room to either aid the dead man or Siliwen who has said nothing thus far, more people come down the stairs behind them and begin to fill up the area by the stairs.

One man, a warrior by the looks of him walks over to the doorway, he turns back to the room and remarks, “The door is still barred from the inside.” Everyone in the room can see that the windows shutters are still drawn and barred from the inside.

“She killed him,” someone whispers from near the stairway.

“We should hang her,” Someone else remarks.

The party realizes that this might turn ugly as the scene seems obvious to anyone viewing it. There are about 6 armed types near the stairways and 2 now by the front door. Karl still stands by the kitchen doorway in front of the barkeep’s wife and the only other door out of this room. The ones by the stairs and the front door look like they are readying themselves to take Siliwen for the heinous crime.

Well.. all I can say is that could've, should've, didn't

I just took what was in your posts about staying the night and extrapolated what I could from that.. People mentioned getting a couple rooms, which they did, I figured the women in one and the men in another only because of they were still relatively new acquaintances and perhaps the women didnt want a man watching over her while she slept

But yes it is water under the bridge now... in the future be more precise and give conditional posts if you like...

besides.. if you think I wanted to manipulate this into the current situation that there would be anything the characters could really do to stop it?

Date/Time: Day Two Evening

The stableman and his son took the instructions of their owners, “Don’t worry we will take fine care of all of them.” He said as the mounts were lead into the stables.

Once the party sat down and Karl too their orders, he left and returned shortly with their drinks. While they relaxed and drank waiting on their meals, they noticed the conversation came back and soon the place was as loud as when they first walked in. The apparent strangeness of them had worn off with everyone and they were soon ignored.

In a few minutes Karl returned with their meals and laid it out before them. They found the fair much better than they would have thought possible, and ale, wine or whatever drinks suited them was also quite good.

Then once they all have food and drink and are somewhat left to themselves they listen at first to what Siliwen has to say.

"This enemy we face I think is trying to get to me through my feelings concerning my companion Joriel's death. Tonight there are two things I would like to try. One is meditation so that my mind is under my control and the other, Alea, you would need to do which is cast sanctuary or perhaps a blessing. I would also prefer to sleep with someone in the room with me. I am not sure why I have been targeted if I could figure that out perhaps I could do something to turn this around."

Listing as she talks Thor has to agree with her and he lets the group know, I am in total agreement with what Siliwen is saying, I think we all could tell during the battle with the wolfs that they where sent to get at Siliwen for they kept ignoring us until we started killing them, and then the mental attack with the vision or whatever it was most certainly was meant to hurt or destroy her, we need to be very careful and I think no one of us should from this point forward be left by themselves. Why Siliwen has been the first one targeted out of all of us for individual attack we can only guess at, although the fact that she is a mage may have something to do it, but that is as I say only a guess and could really have no bearing on it at all, at this point we don't really have enough clues. We just need to be extra cautious and the idea of Billy's to share rooms and set watch's even though we are in an inn is the prudent thing to do. Those that need rest to replenish their strength and knowledge should get first rest to be sure they get what they need so i suggest myself, Billy, and then Riddle take the first three watches. As far as how we sleep and who is in which room I care not but I think we only need two rooms.

While they finish their meals, they notice nothing out of the ordinary. There are a few other travelers here but they seem to pay them no more attention then the other patrons and staff, which is only a furtive glance every so often.

Siliwen asks the barkeep if there might be a cleric around here but he shakes his head, “Sorry milady but no! All that is here is this simple roadside Inn I am sorry to say.”

(OOC: I just want to clarify something, this is just a roadside Inn with a stable and a low wall surrounding the place. The only patrons here are travelers and the only staff stay here somewhere in the Inn itself or the stables)

When one of them asks about rooms, the Barkeep says they have a couple of nice ones still available and shows them to the upstairs. He shows them a couple of rooms, at the end of the hallway, across from one another. They are nice rooms with a couple of large beds, a table, and two chairs in each room. They both have a single window with storm shutters on the outside which can be closed and barred.

The situation seems ideal; the rooms could be guarded by one person just outside the doors where they could see the entire hallway leading up to their rooms. The windows can be solidly secured with a wooden bar on the inside.

“Hope you have a pleasant night’s sleep,” says the barkeep/owner when he gives you the keys to the two rooms and heads back down stairs to handle his few remaining customers.

They settle on the rooms, and since the rooms are not large enough for everyone to sleep together in one room as was suggested, the ladies stay in one and the guys share the other. A lone chair is placed at the end of the hall for the person on watch where they can see the entire hallway. The window shutters are closed and barred from the inside with a heavy oak bar. The night watches, Thor, Billy, Riddle, and Alea, are set; needing only four people each night, at two hour watches each, they decide to give Siliwen the night off after her horrific ordeal involving her dead mentor.

Before turning in Alea takes some water from a pitcher and wash basin in their room and prays over it creating holy water. She anoints Siliwen with the holy water saying a prayer to Corellian to protect her from nightmares and visions. Siliwen meditates deeply to clear her mind and calm her soul; when she turns in she feels at peace for the first time since coming to this land. Maybe she will have a good nights rest for once.

Thor stands watch sitting in the hallway; he hears the noise downstairs quiet down and a couple of travelers come up and enter their rooms eyeing him suspiciously. Eventually he hears the noise of the kitchen die down and what sounds like someone going around locking up downstairs, probably the barkeep/owner. Other than that his watch proceeds without event.

On his watch, Billy sits in the hall working further on sharpening his blade removing the blemishes from the earlier fights. By the time his boring watch is over he is done and satisfied with the quality of his work.

Riddle’s watch is also uneventful, except he hears what sounds like thunder in the distance; probably a storm which doesn’t seem to get any closer but passes in the night. When the end of his watch is over he knocks on the ladies door softly and when Alea answers he gives her the agreed upon password. She leaves Siliwen sleeping peacefully and relieves Riddle from the watch. He retires to bed after telling her that nothing was happening.

Alea’s watch is boring too as she sits in the chair keeping a watch on the hallway, no doubt praying and tending to the condition of her weapons. All is quiet until just about sunrise, when the early morning silence is ripped apart by a scream of sheer terror. It takes her a moment to realize the scream didn’t come from their rooms, but from down stairs somewhere.

Everyone is awakened by this scream which went on for several seconds. Grabbing what weapons they have at hand, the men exit the room and join Alea in the hallway. She tells them it came from down the stairs. The scream is repeated and it is now identifiable as that of a woman, one utterly terrorized. As they rush to investigate, other doors are opening and people are looking out as they pass by and go down the stairs. More than a couple of them ask, “what is going on?”

The four of them come running down the stairs and see a sight which stops them cold; the common room is much like they left it except for a body laying in the middle of the floor surrounded by a pool of fresh blood. The body is the barkeep/owner and he seems most surely dead as a large triangular piece of metal about 18 inches long protrudes from the center of his chest. That sight in itself if very shocking, but the thing which made them all pause on the stairway is the sight of Siliwen, kneeling next to the body, her hands covered in blood.

The scream sounds again, and it is not from Siliwen that it comes; it emanates from a middle-aged woman standing in the doorway of the kitchen looking upon the body on the floor.

“She killed my husband!” the woman says to them pointing at Siliwen who just kneels there looking down at the blood upon her hands as if wondering how it got there.
