Hey.. give MDK something to shoot and he wont be so quiet.. he hates this sitting around! And if you notice.. I said the characters were dull.. not the players.

Hmmm.. he isnt much of a rifle man... rifle is only 2.. he is more of a close encounters type guy.. handuns.. martial arts.. submachine gun.. that sort of stuff.. Killing from a distance.. not his thing! He likes to look them in the eye when they die.

Amen brother... 2nd Ed is the last good edition.. though I still remember playing many a wonderful game in Basic and Expert.. but lets no go too far back into the past.

I love rogues.. for much the same reasons as others have stated... my next close favorite would have been monks... having studied several styles of martial arts the monks aways held a special place for me.

The Red Lantern – East Marina – Night City – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 12:13pm

Mae listened to everyone’s ideas and was glad to finally hear from Lightning; he was about to jab the Techie to see if he had fallen asleep. He hoped he had just been waiting for the right moment to throw in his experienced take on things.

Setting his glass down he raised a finger, gesturing that he wished to interrupt as he looked at Croaker.

“You never did answer my question, boss,” MDK said with a faint smirk, “I asked what is our objective? Why is this place important? What is it we are after in there? That kind of stuff ‘might’ be important to 'some' of us.”

Location: Wooded Area - Destination: The Grey Mountains
Date/Time: Day Six - Early Morning - Couple hours till sunrise

Riddle is surprised to see a shadowy figure standing only a couple feet from Siliwen’s bed as she wakes up and rises to stand close to him.

She whispers softly "Alacran says he sent someone to help us. This may be him."

Siliwen raises her voice to speak to the shadowy form in the darks woods even with her infravision. "If you are he who comes from Alacran to join us, please make yourself known to us. You are welcome here in his name."

The sound of her voice awakens Billy and Thor and while they rise up and place their hands on their weapons they hear Siliwen’s words and stand fast ready to defend if this shadowy form means to cause trouble.

The form seems indistinct, even to the night vision of those non-human kind, until the form takes a single step towards Siliwen and suddenly it is as if the figure stepped out of a dark fog and its details spring into view.

The form looks very similar to what they have seen twice before, a Shelnak, only its features are softened and they could sense no malice or evil from it. It stands only 5 feet tall with ashen stone colored skin, it’s body was completely naked and hairless and apparently sexless as it had no sign of sexual organs. Its body was well formed with sculpted muscles which gave the impression that it was far stronger than its small size would indicate. Its face was alien looking with only two slits for a nose and a v-shaped lipless mouth; its eyes were a deep indigo color looking almost black in the dim light.

The only thing out of place seemed to be a small amulet around its neck, a small gold dragonette set with many small gems; the mate to the one Siliwen wore. The creature stood there its dark eyes unfocused yet looking directly at Siliwen much like a trained dog waiting on its master’s command. It says nothing and doesn’t move or respond to Siliwen’s query about whether it was sent by Alacran.

(Post at will here, I will make any necessary responses to posts as they occur.)

Subject: An appeal for aid...

Varuna let En’Aranthea speak as she was technically the leader of their little group and she had a far better grasp of tactics than he did obviously. When she had finished explaining he plan, Varuna would calmly add his own words.

“It is our desire that their not be any unnecessary killing,” He stated in a clear and calm voice, “we are not Pirates, and neither or the Slaa’kar, therefore we do not shed blood needlessly. ‘She who birth all people’ would not welcome the needless taking of lives when an alternative is at hand.” He finished hoping that to call upon the name of his Goddess Lysora using the name by which she is known among the Slaa’kar might appeal to their sense of good and righteousness.

“As En’Aranthea has said,” Varuna concluded nodding towards the Elf warrioress, “we hope to get them to surrender by showing them there is no escape for them. But to do so they must believe they will be allowed to live if they give up and leave the swamp.”

He held his breath as he waited for the Slaa’kar leader’s reply hoping and silently praying to Lysora that peace would win out here today. There had been enough killing and he was still trying to atone for the near breaking of his own vows as he slipped into despair.

USS Charon – Captain’s Ready Room – 1830 hours

Once the flight officer had been separated from them by the hydraulic-powered door Kel gave a slow shake to his head while his lip curled eyes still on Talon. “Have I not given you enough to do, Commander Talon? That you would find time to play cat and mouse with a new crewmember while I’m waiting on intelligence pertaining to our flight paths, ship operations, and plans on just how you’re going to protect my ship from Romulan technicians!? The Cerberus will be here in a few days’ time and my ship is still sitting in drydock under repairs! Get out of my sight, Commander, unless you’ve something productive to report on. MOVE! Before I skin you alive…”

Talon did find amusement with the games he had been playing on Lt Mas’Riat and he could see that the Captain didn’t find them amusing at all. Keeping a straight face as the Lt walked out and during the Captain’s berating of him, the Lyran didn’t take offense at his commanding officer’s tone. He was use to it and expected it most of the time; having fought back to back with the Captain through many battles he knew they shared a kinship unknown between other Humans and Lyrans. Talon respected Captain Gavison and would lay down his life for the man without a thought.

“Yes Sir!” He said giving a proper Lyran salute before turning sharply and leaving the Ready Room.

Stardate: 2374.09.01
USS Charon – Outside Captain’s Ready Room – 1831 hours

Stepping out into the hallway, Talon noticed the Bajoran Lt standing there with an exasperated look on her face he smiled and laughed softly.

“I hope your not angry,” He said to her a grin growing on his face, “it was all in good fun! Consider it an initiation aboard the Charon.” He didn’t wait for a reply but started off down the hallway leaving her to follow him; his long strides would force her to walk quickly to keep up with him.

“Come along, Lt,” Talon said in a Senior Officer to Junior Officer kind of tone, “I have to get you some things so we can get you started on your assignment.”

(OOC: Assuming any responses from her to take place as they walk)

Talon would lead her to the turbolift and address it to the security station; once there he would type into the computer some information and his security code and then hand her a Starfleet communicator badge and a PADD.

“These have been assigned to you,” he began, “if you check the PADD, you will see the Captain has already assigned a briefing time of 1000 hours tomorrow for a report on your suggested course into Dominion space, I will assist you if you require it.” If she looked at the PADD it already had her name, rank listed at the top and the scheduler shown had her reporting to the Captain at 1000 hrs tomorrow morning.

“Might I suggest that you don’t be late for this meeting,” Talon snickered, making a soft hissing sound.

Subject: Waiting on Intel.. and a plan...

The Red Lantern – East Marina – Night City – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 12:12pm

Mae knew that he had just reiterated what Croaker had said about needing intel on the security of the place but he had meant it as an admission that the intel was needed before any detailed plans could be worked out.

“What you say MDK is on target, we do need as much info as possible on the Target as I asked earlier, especially the security. But in that we may have a problem as Preacher has said their sec plans are most likely in a datafortress and Preacher is the only Netrunner we have available. But like he said its a tough run and he may not be up to it after being so long away.”

MDK’s eyebrow raised at Croaker’s statement regarding Preacher and the corner of his mouth lifted ever so slightly in a smile. He said nothing as it seemed there was nothing else to be said. He was a hired gun and not a netrunner so he had to wait till the real work would begin.

Looking around the place and flagging down the waitress ordered a final ‘Glenmorangey neat.’ Kicked his large combat boots up on the empty chair next to him and sat back listening. He hoped his time her was not going to be wasted and while he waited and listened, sipping his scotch, he pondered his options with the ‘other’ job that had been offered to him.

Drydoc, The Eye of the Dragon
Shader's Alley
Febre, Mid day

“This is a bad city to be carrying around items of value without an entourage.” The elf said, though it sounded more as if he were singing than holding a dialogue. “Unfortunately I haven’t seen any kobolds running past. Perhaps you were mistaken.”

“Perhaps I was,” the Halfling said. There was no use in arguing his point it would only get him skewed like a pig at a feast.

The elf turns around as well, and begins to walk away. He stops for a minute, and turns to the Halfling with a look of consideration on his face. “I think we’ve heard of you… Perhaps you would like to lodge a complaint with our guild master? I believe he is looking for new faces around here.”

‘Oh, Great!’ thinks Tanglefoot as he considers his limited options and always loving a bit of danger he smiles and bows at the waist to the elf and says, “It would be my pleasure and an honor to met the Guild Master of Drydoc, though I doubt he has heard of such an insignificant little person as myself.”

He confidently walks forward to follow the elf, not looking nervous at all; but beneath he is full of doubt and worry. This could pan out and he could get the statuette back and be in the good graces of the Guild Master and while it presented many dangers it could also end up not being as dangerous as a price on his head for failing the Brons.

(OOC: No problem! Danger is what it is all about! )

Location: Open Plains - Destination: The Grey Mountains
Date/Time: Day Three – Afternoon

The group settled in for the camp in the small clearing among the trees. It would have been a fine place to rest with birds chirping around them and the trod of small animals running by the clearing; except for the escape from the Inn and the hard ride they had just undergone. They found plenty of fresh water only a couple hundred feet down the slope from the clearing; a small stream ran through the forest here and the water was clear and cold.

Though it was only early afternoon, they felt so drained from the ride and the emotion of watching Alacran fight so that they could escape, so they rested the rest of the afternoon and decided to camp here for the night. Watches were set, a few whip and snare traps were set, by Riddle, from natural materials found nearby, and things were packed and ready, weapons were kept close at hand. It seemed that they all had learned to be ready to travel at a moment’s notice.

Siliwen slept easily that night, the best since coming here, she had no nightmares and it seemed not long before she was awakened by Riddle for her watch early the next morning.

Location: Open Plains - Destination: The Grey Mountains
Date/Time: Day Four

The morning came bright and clear and it’s warmth made them all seem as if yesterday were only a dream. The horses were well rested, having the entire afternoon and night to recover; they seemed ready and eager to get underway. The food, water and extra rest they had received filled them with exuberance.

Checking the map (whoever has it) the entire group gathers round as they eat a small cold breakfast; and when they estimate their current location, they believe it is still at least 3 days of normal riding before they would reach the base of the Grey Mountains. Siliwen checked her ring and it pointed almost straight Southwest, straight towards those very mountains.

Breaking camp they start off sticking to the woods as much as possible, but by early afternoon they come out the other side of those woods and have a lot of open plains before them. Riding normally, not taxing their mounts whose energy may be needed later, they make good time and as darkness falls they find a small cluster of trees which would be large enough to shield them from immediate sight at any great distance.

Making camp in the trees, they find no water here but have enough in their skins and such to tend to themselves and their horses. A few birds, squirrels and rabbits seem to take offense at the intruders into their domain. The night comes clear and once again watches are set as usual and Siliwen once again has no nightmares, leading her to believe the amulet it working.

Location: Open Plains - Destination: The Grey Mountains
Date/Time: Day Five

The morning comes again and still no sign of pursuit or danger of any kind; though glancing to the Southwest as the sun tops the western horizon, they see the tips of the Grey Mountains through the morning haze and suddenly they get an ominous feeling in the center of their chests. It isn’t danger, just a feeling of dread at the seemingly great task before them.

After another breakfast (not sure if you are still keeping a cold camp but that is up to you) they consult Siliwen’s ring and the map and taking their bearings, still towards the mountains, they head off across the open plains again. They see little out here but a few grazing wild animals and even a couple of what looks like cows in the distance, but they do not approach as it would only lead to an encounter with peasants or others that couldn’t help them anyway.

Through out the day as they ride, the mountains grow more distinct and ominous looking and the feeling of dread grows greater with each passing hour. When they stop for a short break around noon, they estimate that they are now beyond the city of Zygoth on their map and estimate that at this pace they should reach the foothills of the mountains by late tomorrow evening.

They once again get underway and the mountain peaks are now looming up before them clearly in the distance. Dark clouds seem to constantly swirl around the tallest peaks periodically sending out flashes of silent lightning across the sky. The sight only increases the party’s apprehension about the foreboding task to come.

Just after their noon break they are crossing a rise in the plains and suddenly pull up as Riddle’s keen Ranger eyes spot sign of riders in the distance to the South. Watching them for a couple minutes they can tell the ‘riders’ are headed away from the peaks and headed due East. Riddle can pick out at least a dozen of them and if he had to guess he would say they could be more Na’sir like they encountered when they first came to this land. Luckily the ‘riders’ do not spot the party, maybe their vision isn’t as keen, and within a few minutes they pass from sight still headed East and the party continues on.

By the time the darkness begins to settle around them the peaks now stretch across half the sky before them. They search around and just before sunset they find a sizable group of trees that would give adequate cover from discovery. Riding slowly into the thick trees they find a small clear area just large enough for their camp, though it will require some cutting of brush and such to make a clear area to sleep.

Camp is soon made, and being so near their goal they might consider it wise to keep a cold camp (really up to you). The mounts are fed and they obtain water from the stream running through the woods. The water seems ok, but it is has a slightly stagnant taste as if it had sat still for too long, despite its constant flow towards the South. They hear no wildlife here, the woods are quiet and the air here seems still and stale smelling. It is as if the proximity of this place to the Grey Mountains is somehow tainting it slowly over time.

Watches are again set and people begin to turn in to bed, but the strange silence seems to nag at each of them making it hard to fall asleep at first. Once asleep they sleep peacefully, no nightmares and the night passes slowly.

It is early morning and Riddle is still on watch, the sun has not yet started to brighten the sky to the West above the large ridge which he can see that separates the upper land from the lower land where they are now camped. The cliff face is several hundred feet high and the mountains seem to jut out of the ground directly in the path of the cliff as if barring its way. He can only imagine the great upheaval that would have caused such a rift in the ground to occur. If the rumors they had heard were true, this was where a great battle between the gods happened and that is why the stone they are looking for was lost somewhere beneath the mountains.

As Riddle stood watch, keenly listening for any sounds and watching through the trees to towards the West, Siliwen stirred slightly. It wasn’t a nightmare that disturbed her sleep but a vision in which she couldn’t really see anything but clouds and sunlight peeking through. It was really quite soothing and comforting and slowly she begin to hear words, low at first but growing in volume as if they were floating to her from across the clouds.

“Siliwen,” the voice said sounding very much like Alacran, “have heart.. the task is near at hand.. you must be strong.. for the burden of this task will fall to you.” The last would normally be disheartening but the serenity of the vision and the comforting tone of the words seemed to lift up her spirits giving her hope. “I have sent you a ‘tool’ that will aid you….. he will seem strange and possibly ominous and don’t expect a great conversationalist.. but he will aid you in the end… keep heart and you will not fail.”

The voice faded away with the last words and slowly Siliwen opened her eyes as the vision faded from her mind leaving her wondering if it had all been a dream. As her eyes focused she saw an unexpected sight; standing at her feet was a dark shape and though she couldn’t quite see it clearly in the darkness surrounding the camp it had strange edges and didn’t appear to be human; certainly not one of the party.

Subject: Suggestions.. and Questions....

The Red Lantern – East Marina – Night City – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 12:12pm

In that moment she was asked for her number and she answered aloud for everyone to program it in their phones. She would send them all the map she had received. Once they sent her a tag she would attach the map and reply with just the map. Then her love had asked her of her theory.

Nodding to him with a faint smile she spoke "We can't be suspected should we be forced to share the roads to approach our destination. Perhaps have two on the path enjoying the view, perhaps with a camera, dressed as an elderly couple when people approach, and have the rest scouting the nearby area. Take the woodlands around the path as far as they can, and once we get close enough to the base, we'll meet up at a point in the road and the scouts can tell us what they see." she wasn't a woman of many words and those who knew her, knew it to be true.

Mae looked carefully over the map layout, what it was over his cellphone, and shook his head. It wasn’t impossible but it was going to be difficult. Listening to Peacekeeper as she spoke he nodded slightly as she echoed some of his thoughts and when she was done he cleared his throat to get the groups attention.

“If I may offer my thoughts,” MDK said sounding more like a statement than a question and once given permission he laid out some questions and ideas:

“One we need to know what kind of security we are dealing with here. Is there anything on this approach road, patrols, cameras, motion sensors, etc. What about the woodlands surrounding the place how is it guarded? Personally I would like to know what our objective is here? I may have came in after this was brought up but it would be glad to know what I am risking my life for this time.“ Offering a grim smile that said it hardly mattered he just liked to know.

“Now if there security is confined to the immediate vicinity of the grounds and buildings,” he continued looking again at the map, “I believe Peacekeepers plan has some merit, with modifications. Myself and maybe someone else can slip in through the woods and scout out the place without getting too close. Then report back and get a more definitive plan together. But I like her plan that two people, maybe Croaker and Peacekeeper approach in a car up the road to the buildings as if they came up this road by mistake. The rest of us could have been dropped up further back up the road and approach on foot.”

Looking back up at the group, “Of course the two in the car wouldn’t approach the house until the rest of us were in a position to attack and then at Croaker’s signal, like the first shot fired or something, we assault the place taking out all opposition.”

Finishing he sat back and picked up his drink again. He had laid out his plan outline in a sort of deadpan manner as if he hadn’t even been talking about putting their lives on the line or of killing others so readily. It was what he did. Killing came natural and he did it very well and without emotion, something that sometimes frightened his companions and even his employers.

“Well?” MDK asked then downed the last of his scotch.

... what kind of storyline will they have to explain why the other cylons dont know who the final 5 are? In the last season you start seeing some holes that they need to fill in or people may be disappointed...

I still have a problem with the Col Tigh being a cylon... I mean he is as old or older than Adama and in BSG: Razor when they had the flashbacks to the mechanical cylons experimenting on humans they hinted at that was how they made the 12 models... well then they would have had to replace Tigh then at some point... or something.???

There are some others but we will hopefully see.. I will miss this show. Always keeps you guessing.

Oh, and I too am glad that Callie got offed... she was so getting on my nerves too!

Subject: The meeting...

Vatta wrapped the cloak tightly around her to keep out the chill wind that whipped along the street; it seemed that a storm was coming. Her eyes never strayed far from the back of the man leading her through the merchant district of Westgate to the house of Jonas Gorrath, one of the wealthiest merchants in the city. When her eyes did stray they scanned her surroundings; the side streets, behind her, even the roof tops. She wasn’t paranoid just cautious; something that had kept her alive so far.

When they arrived at a large house surrounded by a stone wall and guarded by several hired warriors, she knew this was a serious man with a lot of month as the many rumors said. Some tales said he was a elderly man, a recluse who hoarded his money and many a thief had tried to take it only to be strung up atop those walls. She wasn’t afraid of entering here for she had attempted nothing against this man, but she was cautions and curious at the same time; why would this man want to hire a thief.

Entering the courtyard she saw the gates swing shut behind her and at least a dozen heavily armed men within sight. Something was going on here, something that required protection. She followed her unnamed guide into the main entrance and paused looking up at the two story foyer; it was huge, larger than most places where she had spent the night. A winding staircase ran up one wall the the second level and the floor appeared to be solid marble tiles of some kind. Large expensive paintings adorned the walls and the candle sconces were golden, probably solid. She shook herself out of her amazement at the wealth distributed here and hurried after her guide.

She followed him through several rooms until they came to a large set of double doors, solid Oak they were with golden fixtures. The man paused and knocked once then pushed open the door and bid her to follow him. She stepped into the room; a lavish study of some kind, richly adorned with more paintings, fine vases on pedestals and a large oak deck behind which sat a large man. Her guide bowed to the man behind the desk

“Sire, may I present Ms Vatta Silestia,” the guide said and then straightening he withdrew from the room closing the door behind him leaving her and the man alone.

Vatta reached up and slipped the hood of her cloak from her head and looked closely at the man. He was middle aged for a human, some grey starting to frost the edges of his short auburn hair. He wasn’t portly as most merchants but seemed in decent physical shape though he didn’t look like a warrior. His clothes were made of fine silks and adorned with little buttons of gold and he wore a gold amulet around his neck. His eyes were dark and seemed to bore into her as if trying to read into her soul.

She only stood there and stared back at him, her countenance firm and unyielding. She was not going to let this man intimidate her by his gaze and obvious power. They stood there for several long seconds before a small smile lifted the corner of his mouth and he nodded slightly.

“I am Jonas Gorrath,” he stated, his voice firm and authoritative, “would you like something to drink?”

He rose from behind his desk and walked over to a side table where several decanters holding various colored spirits waited with some glasses. He picked up one decanter containing a reddish liquid and poured a small amount into a short glass and looked at her questioningly.

“Yes please,” Vatta replied and walked over towards him, “I will have whatever you are having.”

Subject: hmmm?

Well I suspect Laura as well... makes some sense about why she is so at odds with everyone lately and leading them off into who knows where... maybe she heard the music too and they just havent shown it yet.

Adama I think is out! Dont know why I think that I just do! I could be wrong .. and you mentioned that it should be someone without 40 y/o ties.. but Col Tigh has been around a long time... even before the first Cylon war and the creation of the 12 models.. hmmm. think about that! Makes me wonder.. were the four on Galactica.. or maybe 5.. always cylons or have they been replaced?

I have a suspicion about Baltar.. maybe his link to the Cylons is why he always see Six... plus Six has told him stuff before in his 'visions' that Baltar sshould have had no way of knowing.

But it all comes down to the end.. we will soon see!
