The Red Lantern – East Marina – Night City – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 12:12pm

“If you know so much about me then you already know the answer, if I worked for the Corps then I wouldn’t be here. I hate the Megacorps and I am here because I was told someone needed some help sticking it to them but good. So can we stop the f**king bulls**t and get down to business or should I just walk now?”

Croaker watched as the man finished his reply, turned his attention to the Nomad and raised an eyebrow as if waiting for Croaker on the decision.

Croaker exhaled, forced his heart to restart, and took a leap of faith, removing his hand from under the table. Placing both elbows on its wood surface, he interlocked his fingers.

Mae saw Croaker relax ever so slightly and when the placed both elbows on the table taking it off of the gun he no doubt had under there, MDK brought his right hand up from his side and placed both his arms on the table. He picked up his drink again, this time with his right hand and took a sip showing about as much trust as he ever would to people he just met, as Croaker began to speak.

“Ok thanks to Jack we have a target locale, now we need a plan to get at it, here’s what I think. With it only having a single road in and out it will be damn near impossible to approach that way. Even if its not electro monitored with cams and motion sensors there are sure to be guards stationed at some point on it. Seeing as how both I and Bulls Eye can pilot both Helicopters and Vertical thrust aircraft we avoid the road and come in from behind the target by air using an AV-4 or something close to it. If no 4 we get a hold of a helo and go in that. Now assuming we get such air transport we hung the ground using nape of the earth technique and pop up hopefully out of nowhere dead center of the target. We then land or repel down onto the target building and hit them fast and hard.”

As Croaker laid out the plan, Mae noticed the big guy they called Guardian apparently doing just what his name implied, obviously a bodyguard because he simply stood and kept an eye scanning for trouble. MDK’s gaze paused on the bodyguard for a moment as if sizing him up then went back to looking at Croaker. He had no doubt the man had noticed his attention, he had made it obvious, and the corner of his mouth lifted ever so slightly in amusement. He wondered if he made the bodyguard nervous, he often had that effect on people especially bodyguards who had someone to protect.

Mae didn’t much care of that line of work, he tried it once when he was out of money and needed to eat. He found it too boring and much more difficult that his chosen profession. The problem with guarding another person’s life is you had to put your life ahead of their’s and in Mae’s opinion he hadn’t met anyone yet worthy of giving up his life. The money was decent.. sometimes, but body guarding didn’t pay enough to throw his life away.

It was more lucrative and exciting to track down your target and kill them, usually when they didn’t even know he was there. Sometimes he had to infiltrate an operation and strike from the inside; it was one of his specialties. He thought this group was so suspicious and doubtful of him thinking that perhaps he was here for that very reason; this thought again caused him to smile slightly. He turned his attention back to Croaker as he finished up his plan.

“Now of course my plan hinges on having an AV-4, a helo or some other air transport and that’s where you come in Spiff, between you and Jack if anyone can get us such a transport its you and he. So tables open, Spiff any chance of getting one.”

Mae liked the basics of the plan, but it all hinged on getting some form of aerial transportation which wasn’t usually easy to come by these days. One often needed good connections or money, or both.

“Croaker, buddy,” DigitalScribe smiled disarmingly and leaned forward. “I’m going to be really impressed if we can come up with that kind of vehicle-play, really impressed indeed. I’ll admit, we’re going to need transport, but…” the media turned his attention towards the fixer and raised his eyebrows at the sharply dressed man. “Dazzle us, Spiff. Please.”

Following the gaze of the others, he turned to look at the one they called Spiff. If he was able to get them the transportation then he was good.. very good.. but that remains to be seen. Mae just waited till they found out that information and ran the particulars he knew so far through his brain analyzing them from a tactical standpoint. He remained quiet and only sipped his drink as he waited and thought.

Location: Northpoint Road – Leeside Way Inn
Date/Time: Day Three – Morning

Siliwen and Riddle (I am assuming he will stay with her) make their way to the front door which still stands open to the morning breeze. Stepping outside they look about the stabling yard and don’t see any of the rest of the party. They do see the stable man brushing down a mount just at the main door to the stable. Walking over there they ask him if he has seen their comrades.

“Sure nuff did,” he said with a smile, “they headed off real sneaky like towards the back of the Inn.” He pointed to around the side of the Inn towards the back of the building.

Alea pushed open the back door and saw before her a short hallway with five doors, two to each side and one at the opposite end. The door at the end was open and she could see the kitchen there but saw no sign of anyone inside. The doors to the sides were all closed except for the second door on the left. A strange light was emanating from this doorway and she could vaguely hear words which almost sounded familiar but were still too faint for her to understand.

Slipping inside the hallway, and moving towards the open door way, she left Billy outside to guard her back and provide backup if needed. Unknown to her Thor soon joined Billy and stood looking up the hallway and could see Alea as she snuck towards an open door.

Siliwen and Riddle come around the corner of the Inn and see Billy and Thor peering intently in the back door of the Inn. Walking up they ask them what they are doing there so secretly.

Alea could hear talking as she drew closer to the room and she heard a couple of gasps from inside. She could hear the words now that were being spoken, the voice was female and the words were Elvin though spoke with an accent she couldn’t recognize. The words were a prayer .. a prayer to Corellon in the Elvish tongue. The prayer faded as she reached the edge of the doorway and the glow faded with it.

“By the Gods!”, she heard a man gasp, it sounded like it could have been Karl.

Peering into the room around the doorframe, into was obviously a storeroom with crates and bags and barrels; she first saw Karl and the servants from the kitchen standing against a wall staring wide-eyed at the other side of the room. The object of their awe was Alacran and the hooded figure that stood with its back to the room of people watching as it stood over the body of the Bar keep.

Billy relates the story thus far to Siliwen and Riddle; that Alacran and a hooded figure entered the back of the Inn a few minutes ago and Alea is inside checking it out. They are all now standing outside the back door watching as Alea peers into a room two doors down on the left.

As Alea watches the barkeeps eyes opened and he looked around as if suddenly awakening from a deep sleep. Alacran reached out a hand and helped him up as the short hooded figure stepped back out of the way. His clothes were still covered in the blood and the sheet he had been covered with slide to the floor as he sat up and swung his legs over the edge of the crates upon which he had been laid.

“Easy there my friend,” Alacran said as he helped the man to sit up and kept him from falling, “you have had quite a shock.” Alacran looked up and his eyes fell upon Alea as she peered upon the scene, he frowned slightly then turned to the servants gathered there.

“Karl, take him to his room so he can rest,” Alacran said, then turned to a female kitchen helper, “you best go and prepare the mistress otherwise she might be a bit too shocked by the situation.” The girl nodded then turned and rushed out of the room almost bumping into Alea but not seeming to care that she was there watching. Karl came over to take care of the now revived bar keep who still seemed dazed though alive.

Alacran turned and talked to the hooded figure that stood in the corner trying to remain inconspicuous, he spoke briefly and the hooded figure turned its head slightly and gazed right at Alea then turned away. The face in the hood was not visible but Alea had a familiar comfortable feeling especially after she spotted the crescent moon symbol on the left breast of person’s hooded cloak.

While this happened, Karl and the other kitchen servant helped the barkeep up and half carried him out of the room and towards the kitchen where a private stairway went up to the owner’s private area. As Karl passed her he looked at her, his surprise still visible in his eyes, he said nothing to her and only nodded slightly as they passed.

Alacran turned from the figure and approached her as she stood alone at the doorway, he sighed.

“So I guess you saw me coming in the back way and came to see what I was up to,” he stated looking down at the naked sword in her hand, “hope you are convinced ‘that’ wont be necessary.”

Billy, Thor, Siliwen and Riddle saw a servant girl rush out and into the kitchen but there was still no sign of alarm. A half a minute later, they saw Karl and another servant come out and it looked as if they were holding the barkeeper up between them. The man looked very much alive though he seemed half asleep on his feet as they helped him into the kitchen.

Vatta smiled at Cerric’s words about knowledge and wisdom and wondered if that related to an earlier discussion they had about a similar subject. She was surprised when he turned to lock eyes with her and continued in Elvish:

"A pool of clear water is lovely, no matter what its depth. A green leaf is lovely, no matter how short the day." Then continuing in the common tongue, "Though your occupation is somewhat secular from writ and scribe, you must remember that it is who you are that defines the beauty of long lived years."

Vatta smiled back at him and he could swear that she blushed a little before turning away from his gaze. She tried to look over the items that were left after making her primary choices earlier.

“If their be any potions left,” she said clearing her throat to regain her composure, “… something of a healing nature or invisibility items remaining then I could use some of those.

Tom Cruise joining ‘Star Trek’ cast?

By Courtney Hazlett
The Scoop

updated 10:28 p.m. ET, Thurs., March. 27, 2008

Considering all the speculation that surrounded the casting of the upcoming “Star Trek” movie, it wouldn’t seem like a stretch to think that Tom Cruise might be one more late addition to the roster.

“Tom visited the set of the movie and chatted with J.J. Abrams,” a source close to the actor said. The last time Cruise was spotted on a set for a movie he wasn’t said to be signed on for — “Tropic Thunder” — it turned out he had a small role. Unfortunately for Cruise fans, the visit to the “Star Trek” set was just a social call — Cruise and Abrams are friends, and apparently, Cruise is a fan of the television series and in particular, Mr. Spock.

“He asked J.J. if there’s a way he can meet Leonard Nimoy. He said he’d always really respected his work,” said the source.

Unfortunately for Cruise fans, the visit to the “Star Trek” set was just a social call..

(Fortunately for Non-Cruise fans it was just a rumor… I hope! )

Thor watched as Alea and Billy ‘snuck’ after the two figures who went behind the Inn. It was a comical sight to him, the large warrior attempting to sneak up on anyone. He was left to ponder whether to follow them or not. (Since no post yet from Thor)

Alea leads Billy to the back corner of the Inn and stops to peer around the corner causing Billy to almost knock her over. Alea sees no one but the back door, servant’s entrance she guesses, just closed as she looked around the corner.

(Assuming they move up)

Moving to the door, they find it slightly ajar as if the person entering didn’t take the time to make sure the latch was hooked. Listening at the door, she hears some voices but they are too distant for her to make out any words clearly.

Inside the common room..

Riddle and Siliwen are still sitting at the table near the front window; Siliwen is slowly picking at her food and not really accomplishing anything other than being lost in her own thoughts. Riddle is the first to notice that the Karl and the other servants that had been coming and going bringing food and drinks to the patrons, of which there are the two of them and 4 others, have all gone back into the kitchen/servant’s area and have not been out in several minutes. Siliwen notices the calm of the room and looking about comes to the same deduction, something is out of place here.

Location: Northpoint Road – Leeside Way Inn – Stabling yard
Date/Time: Day Three – Morning

As Billy was stating his opinion on the subjects of mages and gods and their reasons which were unknown to normal man; Alea caught movement out of the corner of her eye. Turning her head to look, she saw two figures near the back of the Inn, from this distance one looked like Alacran the mage and he had a shorter robed and hooded companion with him. The two walked around the back of the Inn and out of sight of her.

Thor came through the yard on his way to the stables and saw Alea and Billy standing over beneath a tree talking. He continued on to the stables to see to his horse Lightning. He was met by the stable master and directed to the stall where his horse was kept. Lightning seemed in fine spirits, well rested, feed and groomed it seemed as his coat shined in the morning light. Lightning was overjoyed to see him and rubbed his muzzle along Thor’s face in greeting. Seeing that he had his belongings with him the stable master asked Thor if he was ready to leave, if so he would offer to harness and saddle his mount for him if he waited.

After spending a few minutes with Lightning (or waiting while the stable man saddled his horse if he accepted the man’s offer), Thor thought he heard a sound, like foot steps, that drew his attention. He walked to the door of the stable and stood looking out at the stabling yard around the Inn. He saw two robed figures, one that looked like that mage they met earlier.. Ala… something or other, and another shorter figure completely concealed by a robe with a hood. He saw the two figures disappear around the back corner of the Inn.

Billy, since his back was mostly to the location of the two figures, was the only one outside that did not see the two before they walked behind the building.

Siliwen and Riddle did not see anything as they still sat at their breakfast table inside.

(OOC: Continue to post as you will, I will post observations as they become available.)

"That ship is what's going to keep me alive. If that metal casket's going to keep me from going back to a Dominion prison, then you bet your furry..." she intoned, her voice dropping all softness, all charm "You won't have a thing to worry about," she added.

Lt Cmdr Talon watched the Bajoran closely as she spoke; he noticed how she reacted when speaking about being in a Dominion prison. Lyran had a hard time understanding human species, their manners, their sense of humor, but despite all that he believed this woman when she spoke of being held captive by the Dominion. He also believed that the experience hardened her in ways more humans would never know.

“That’s good, Lt,” he said nodding to her, “I believe you will do fine.” She might not realize that such simple praise was rare coming from this officer, he seldom acknowledged anyone’s accomplishments and often focused on the negatives of which he usually saw many.

“The Captain might take more convincing that I however,” he said with a chuckle, “I believe you will find Capt Gavison a real ball buster but since you both seem to have similar temperaments I imagine you will come to an understanding.” He grinned, again showing all of his teeth.

As Billy stands outside he sees Alea come out and look down the road after Alacran and then she turns and sits under a big old chestnut tree and appears to be prayer. He feels nothing good or bad concerning the mage, it is just his general distrust of magic and their users that he can never stomach. In his opinion, no good ever comes of it.

As Alea prays she gets a warm feeling again, the one she usually gets when she feels the presence of her god. She doesn’t get an answer from her god, afterall she is a minor worshipper of Corellon, but when she addresses the question about Alacran the warm feeling grows just a little. She thinks, or it could be her imagination, who knows.

Spiff took a sip of his drink before continuing. He turned his attention directly to MDK. He wanted it blatantly obvious what he was doing to the newcomer. After all, it was blatantly obvious everyone else had their hands on their guns, and Spiff didn't need that. That's what Preacher had offered to do for the day. "So, Mr. Corporate Assassin. Does that mean you kill people for the Megacorps, or that you kill people in the Megacorps. Before you answer though, I should probably warn you that the former means we'll have to shoot you, while the latter means you'll be of great use." He was, of course, teasing, but he wanted to see what reaction he would get.

As his drink arrived, he turned his gaze to Spiff and his question. He wasn’t sure if the man was joking or not. In any case he smiles slightly as he picked up his drink from the table with his left hand.

“If you know so much about me then you already know the answer,” he said then took a sip of his drink, “if I worked for the Corps then I wouldn’t be here. “

He sit the glass down and looked around at everyone, “I hate the Megacorps and I am here because I was told someone needed some help sticking it to them but good. So can we stop the f**king bulls**t and get down to business or should I just walk now?”

He hoped they would can the posturing and get to the plan, he doubted they would let him walk out now having already heard mention of their location. He turned his attention to Croaker and raised an eyebrow waiting on the decision.

Alea looks about the menbers of the group and sees the demeanor of Riddle.

"Riddle, do you have some issue with what what Alacran has done or revealed? If so, speak out So that we might all hear your.....misgivings."

Riddle may or may not but I have some doubts. Why should we trust this stranger? So far we have found precious few allies and many enemies. Please do not take this the wrong way but there is no way to know if you were marked before or if you were just marked now. Is the mark a good thing placed by the old woman or an evil thing as claimed now? I make no secret that I am distrustful of mages. It is your head that is marked and if you wish to do as he asks that is your choice. As for me, I will be waiting outside whenever we are ready to go." With that Billy took a piece of bread and chunk of cheese and walked out of the inn.

" I side with billy in this matter though i will not leave siliwens side no matter her decision. Although would like to point out a couple of factors. First being the most disturbing to me there are no animals out side not a sound made by insect or animal kind, I find this odd do you not? Why would there be no sound riddle me that what would he have to gain? Plus i also know that there was a man out in the woods contoling the wolves, we have all come to exept that have we not? So who is to say this man is not that man?" riddle pauses and looks Siliwen directly in the eyes, his showing nothing but care and concern " ultimatly it is you decision, know that i will stand by you no matter what one you make, but these are things i want you and the whole group to think about."
with this riddle eases back into his chair and relaxes still watching and waiting his hands no longer on his weapons

Thor grunts and nods his head at Billy and Riddles words and looks right at Alacran as he wipes the froth of a fresh ale from his lips.

“I agree.. We don’t know him.. We shouldn’t trust him,” he said gruffly eyeing Alacran looking for any sign of anger.

Alacran remained silent and sipped his wine as the others voiced their distrust of him. His face showed a slight disappointment that they were so distrusting that even someone who had helped them could not apparently be trusted.

Siliwen looks to her friends the onws so far that have trusted her and have protected her. "You are correct Riddle we were told to trust ourselves and honestly I cannot say if this man is good or evil." Her shoulders drop a bit as she says it because the hope that had flared in her was not quite dampened by her friends questions.

She turns to the man. "I know not the turth behind you actions. Your offer sounds generous but I have no way of knowing if what you are planning is for good or ill"

Alacran nodded to Siliwen and the disappointment she could see in his face changed to sadness and he sighed.

“I understand your caution,” he says softly, “the decision is of course yours to accept my help or distrust it. I will abide by your decision of course.”

Alea can you divine his alignment is there a way to tell if his intentions are good or evil? If he is evil he might want to remove a mark that is good for me. If he is good then the mark is evil as he says it is.

"I am sorry, I an not so high in Corellon's service that I can do such a spell. But I will pray for Enlightenment or Guidance on a chance that he might grant it."

“It might be good to question Karl about Alacran, how long he has know him etc, For it seemed the people knew him and he did know Karl's name."

Alea looks to the man who called himself Alacran, "My friends are right in this, you could be of the Dark and disguised."

Alea takes up her holy symbol, and simply circled of read oak that she had lovingly carved herself. She prays for an answere to their conundrum concerning Alacran

"I have some questions on another subject and hope you can tell me. who or what are these Shelak?” Siliwen asks, “Are they minions of the Dark One? How did they get into this pace, remove me from my room and kill this man without anyone being the wiser. Are they magic users?”

Alacran sighs heavily and draining the last drop of his wine he sets the glass on the table and taking up his staff he rises and looks at them all.

“I do not blame you,” he said, “I wish I could help you.. If only you would allow it.”

He walks slowly around the table, his eyes look upon Siliwen as he reaches the other side of the table near the front door.

“I could answer your questions very well,” he says sadly, “but since I am not to be trusted then I fear my words would not be heeded in any case.”

Stepping to the door, he stops in the open doorway and looks back at them.

“Ask about it you must, ask Karl what he knows of me,” he says and locks eyes with Siliwen again, “if you change your mind just call for me and I will return… but only if you are ready to trust and accept my help. I have little time to waste upon those whom do not want assistance.”

With that he turned and left the Inn, he walked slowly across the front yard and spotting Billy eyeing him suspiciously he nodded to the huge warrior and then left the stabling yard and walked up the road and out of sight.

A minute later, Karl comes out of the kitchen bringing food to another table, he sees them sitting there and comes over and asks if they require anything else to eat or drink.

(Assuming they ask Karl)

Karl nods when asked about if he knows Alacran, “I know him and have seen him upon a couple of occasions though I would hardly say we are acquaintances.”

“He is a wizard of great power it is said and he lives somewhere on an island near Lake’s End,” he says then remembering that they are strangers here, “That is the Capitol.. Alacran is said to be the Magical Advisor to King Timon.” That appears to be all he knows of him and if they order any more food or drink he rushes off to fetch it.

Thor kicks his feet up on the table, having finished eating and now only indulging in ale and grunts again, “I still don’t trust him”

Vatta watched Highnar leave showing much embarrassment on his face and her laughter faded and she frowned. She hadn’t thought the hardened warrior would be so easily embarrassed by the spectacle. She thought on it for a moment or two after the dwarf went inside. She meant no offense really, just a good natured ribbing which she thought was ok but apparently she had been in error.

She went into the Inn, passing Logan on his way out and greeted him a good day, and looked around for Highnar and not seeing him she walked up to Brianna and looked up at her.

“Where did Highnar go?” she asks Brianna, “I think I should apologize to him for my laughing at his expense.” “I did not think such a seasoned dwarves warrior would take such gentle teasing to heart,” she said sheepishly looking embarrassed herself now.

"Well. That sounds... like a vacation." "Any words of advice? Sage wisdom from the furries? Bits of irrelevant gossip for a new Starfleet vic- crewmember?"

Talon chuckled slightly at her remarks, she was trying to play the big front it seemed to him, he decided to press the matter while he had her attention. Leaning forward he locked eyes with her, the yellow vertical slits narrowed slightly.

“Well.. I will give you one word of advice, Lt Mas’Riat,” he says his smile gone, his tone menacing, “You do your job and you do it right aboard the Charon, for if you do anything to endanger my ship.. This ‘furry’ will rip your throat out and leave you to bleed upon the deck.”

The look in his eyes, the tone of his voice, the slight growl in his throat, all would tell her that he was completely and deadly serious in his remarks. She couldn’t know that aboard a Lyran vessel, officers maintained the strictest discipline by physical abuse and even death to those that were negligent in their duties. To fail in one’s job, especially in battle, was a instant death sentence. Many a junior officer’s last sight was that of his superior standing over him with bloodied talons as his vision failed and his life essence seeped out upon the cold steel deck plates.

Talon sat back picking up his glass again, his eyes still locked on the Bajoran woman across from him.

“Do I make myself clear, Lt Mas’Riat?” He asked and then drained the rest of his glass in one gulp as he waited for her answer.
