Sib I think all the PCs (and Bart) are back at full hp. So you should save your spells.

“Not all drow are in thrall to the Spider Queen,” Aelistae replied quietly. Although, in truth, she did not think that Dylan needed to hear it. His eyes did not contain the same fear and anger that other humans displayed when first noticing the colour of her skin.

The human strode past him, as Talus explained the purpose the fires had served, and dredged up, once more, sad feelings of loss.

“We can’t go much further. I know little about them, but I can see that the horses need rest. And…we should honour the place where Sheva fell with song before we leave.”

Aelistae tested the weight of Dylan’s sword, before offering it back to him. “I think if you meant us ill, you wouldn’t have given it up in the first place. As to who we are – the male who spoke to you is Talus, the armoured woman Artanis, and the other Linnix. The gnome is Xaris and the last human Bartholomew.”

“And yes we have all been bitten, and may all be cursed. We hope to journey to a shrine so that we may be cured but…well in case we don’t make it, it’d be well for you to put as much distance between us and you as you can.”

Well those who worship Eilistraee are only really concentrated (in any numbers) at the Promenade (under Waterdeep) and around Cormanthor. So it's unlikely any non-drow would have come across an actual worshipper.

It's possible that the Dylan may have heard something of the Goddess, but I think it'd take quite a high check to be able to recognize her holy symbol.

Of course this kind of stuff is really up to Kaelyn.

Feel free to freak out at the sight of a drow though. It'll make for interesting roleplaying.

Subject: Not quite an elf

Aelistae smiled and shook her head. The human male had mistaken her for a surface elf, and to her mind there was no greater compliment he could have paid her.

“Not quite,” she mouthed quietly to herself, before turning to address Talus. “There’s a saying among the drow: ‘Gotfrer dosst killian, harventh tir dosst rah. Gotfrer dosst faern, harventh tir dosst karliik.’ - ‘Forget your sword, cut off your hand. Forget your wizard, cut off your head.’ I don’t think I ever understood it until now.”

Aelistae nodded appreciatively at Talus, and stepped closer to the newcomer so he could see her more clearly.

“It’s an honour to meet you Dylan Geiling. My mother named me Aelistae D’Vrann. May the Moon smile on our meeting.”

The drow priestess took a few steps more, so that her true heritage was in no more doubt, and closed her hand around the human’s sword. “Not quite an elf,” she added with a smile.

A voice interrupted the melancholic silence that had fallen over the glade, and it had Aelistae reaching for her sword. Yet her hold upon it eased as her violet eyes caught sight of the figure whose voice it was.

“You’re human?” she queried from under the veil of shadows the night cast over her. “If you mean no harm you’re welcome to join us by the fire and share a meal. But first drop your weapon. We’ve already been ambushed once this night, and lost one of our number because of it. We - I - have no intention of letting that happen again.”

Hmm, maybe we should sell the staff then (when we get the chance)?

We certainly have a lot of art objects, that our characters forgot to sell at Castle Tethyr, that we can sell. After this last battle, I'm determined to raise enough gold for Aelistae so that she can get her hands on an enchanted weapon.

Subject: A quick farewell

Dark, drow fingers trailed over the crisp, black earth. The fires that had burnt over the bodies of Sheva and the werewolves had died, and all that remained were the ashes beneath Aelistae’s hand.

“Strange to think that I never really knew her,” she whispered into the cool night air. “Will anyone miss her now that she is gone or mourn her loss? Will anyone mourn Loriel or Kasenarrion?”

Aelistae shook her head sadly as she scooped a handful of the black earth into a small pouch and placed an acorn into the hole she had created. “I hope your soul finds some peace Arcsheva Redmane. And I hope in the years to come life will return to this glade, and a part of you will live on forever.”

[OOC: Aelistae is whispering in drow (for any that are interested).]

Subject: That's a fair point

I'm not really sure there is a (definitive) answer to that.

We could fit that into the 'no-bid system', if everyone is happy for Talus to take the ring (I certainly don't mind). I'm hoping that in the future other items will crop up for others to take, so that the items are spread out.

If you're uncomfortable with dropping the bidding system, however, (or if anyone else is) we can continue with it.

We could also create a compromise. That would involve not applying a bidding system on an item when there clearly is only one user. And applying it if it's a utility item or more than one person wants it. The problem is that it becomes a little fiddly.

It'd be good to hear people's thoughts on the matter.

I've always given CD points in PMs and in those occasional times when I talk to Kaelyn in chat.

I would encourage people to give them regularly, as if you don't it's easy to forget about them completely.

We still have a few potions that people can claim. Personally I think Artanis should take the potion of cure moderate wounds, as she's more likely to get hurt than the rest of us (and Xaris still has a bunch of potions).

I'm not terribly keen on the ring of sustenance, so maybe we should sell it? (when we get the chance).

I'd like to Bart to keep the bag of holding, so he can store any party loot in there.

Welcome to the game Sibby! (Sorry but Sibby is so much easier to write than Sibelius).

Remember to rub Xaris for luck, and give all your gold to Aelistae and you'll do fine.

On second thought, why don't we do away with the system?

It means Aelistae will be out of pocket (and Artanis too), but I'd rather we just hand out items equitably. It seems silly to me if Linnix refuses to wear the cloak, since she's the only one among us that can make good use of it.

Well we either bid for items we want or try and move away from the system altogether. If people get items without bidding, then it can result in magic items not being spread out (which is what the system is designed for). It'll also mean that people such as Artanis, will never be able to pay off what she owes on her shield.

Plus Talus is the only one who won't have their street cred. ruined by carrying around a glorified walking stick.

That still leaves the cloak. Do you want it for Linnix, Reralae?

well Artanis has the shield, so it seems more equitable to spread the magic items around a little.

Do you not want it for Xaris?

Does the cloak that Talus identified have the image of Shar died into it or embroidered into it? Just asking because if it was the former, Aelistae could quite happily re-die it and wear it.

Although I do think it's an item better suited for Linnix.
