I'm travelling around a bit (and for the next couple of months), so I'm not able to jump onto rdinn as often. Will, of course, still post to Trilogy though.

It wasn't really an offer to run such a game. I'm merely enquiring what people's experiences have been.

Although don't let me stop you if you want to run a game via Skype.

I'm curious if anyone ever DMed or played in a game by Skype? Or, used one of those tools out there such as MapTool or OpenRPG?

If so, do you think it worked well?

Almerin's post reminded me of the Redwall series of books that Brian Jacques wrote (some of which I read when I was a small kid).

Might not work for kids under 5 though.

Nope, but Rickon has suddenly become important...

Sansa's a little bit less useless now. And, Arya still has her 'wolf dreams'. I can see her leaving the service of the Many Faced God. Plus she's pretty bad-ass.

Bran and Rickon are alive too...

Both of Ned and Catalyn Stark's daughters are still alive, although the Arya situation is a little complicated... (I don't want to ruin the story any more...)

I think Daeneyrs/Dany is the one character Martin seems to really love. Plus she's the centre of oodles of prophecies and has survived umpteen near death experiences. It may be foolish of me, but I think she'll survive (or survive long enough to die in the epilogue of the last book).

That would be weird! Although I fancy Ned would be on top.

I just finished Dance with Dragons, and I've been left fretting over the fate of Jon Snow.

For those who've read the book, do you think he's dead? I'm thinking yes, but that he come back as semi-good (much as Coldhands did, who's got to be Uncle Benjen right?).

The releases internationally are all different so that the Hollywood folk can strut the red carpet multiple times.

I was planning on seeing it just because of the Joss Whedon factor. Good to know that it isn't a stinker though.

Subject: Pre-gens

For new players, character creation can take forever and can be quite dull (especially if you've only got 1 or 2 books between you all). So it can be helpful to have pre-generated characters.

I would use the edition that you know best. And I think AD&D is more fun to DM because it isn't quite as rule heavy as 3rd and 4th.

Well I'm still Feasting on Dance (sorry couldn't resist), so I can't say yet what I think of it.

The chronological muddle is the worst part of it (Dance takes the reader back to the timeline at the start of Feast). And now that I'm on Dance I want more Arya Stark... :-/

I agree with you Eol.

I think the later novels are technically flabby. It's still great, but it needed a strong publisher to force Martin into condensing the narrative a little. A lot of authors who become very successful is that they're allowed to do whatever they want, which is not always a good thing.
