He has most definatly been active... but from what I hear he has just started up a new job that is taking up all of his time, I haven't seen him on for a few days now. And from what I know of him I don't think he would be offended if we went ahead without him and let him join in once he gets some more time on his hands. That is what is going on in ST:OP right now.
So that is where my vote is. But trust me he has been active... we joined within days of each other and the boy has already outposted me... lol...

I quote the 'To bed, to bed, what is done cannot be undone, put on your nightgown, wash your hands, look not so pale, to bed to bed...' almost every night for my stepdaughter, I'm warping the poor child
Have you seen Scotland PA?
Oh but here I am rambling on and on... get to studying those lines boy and I'll see you around Fall River when you get back!

"We're going to need both of these as many as we can get."

Lelain nodded and started to rummage as quietly in the boxes for power packs as she could. Once collected she handed two to Quilia and shoved the rest into her belt. Pulling up her own gun to chest height she squinted her big eyes some and whispered.

“Let’s get this over with…”

She stood on the other side of the door, put her hand on it and pushed it open a little further. Looking out into the hallway she assessed what she could see, hated everything about it, readied her gun and her stomach and started to step toward the crack of light that would lead her to the hanger and hopefully a new plane.

lol...
I totally understand though. Haven't been able to get on as much as I'd like too either recently. Tomorrow is my last day playing mommy on the two week on/off summer schedule though, so hopefully I'll be able to make it on more
As for questions...
Lysk: Technically she was told that her father was dead, Mrs. Borden's body had yet to be found when the telegram was sent, and to keep her from completly going nuts they didn't mention the murder. However... I'm not going to be nit picky about that, especially since having her know that both were murdered at the forefront keeps the game moving...

Re: Everything I have read about the case points out that three meals were eaten at this time in fall river, breakfast, dinner and supper... with dinner (our lunch) being the biggest meal of the day typically. So there is your answer to the symantics of victorian america.

Everyone: I'm working up some plot/posts and as soon as I have time I'll put them up... keep up the good work when you can fit it in!

USS Charon – Sickbay – 13:40 hours

They had been rescued. Finally. Once on the Charon the crew had been split up. Standing ready in the transporter room had been a medic, and several security guards.

“Anyone in need of medical assistance?” The medic had quipped up immediately.

“Ensign Lyvette ‘ere” MacTavish, nodded toward her pale figure.

“No sir, really… I’m fine. I just need some water. I want to stay with the crew.”

“Ensign…” Tavish’s tone was not one to mess with, and he eyed her slowly.

“Aye sir.” She nodded, lowered her head and followed the medic to sick bay. As she was leaving she heard Tavish ordering the rest of the pod to go with him.

Now she sat on a cushioned chair in sick bay. They had started pumping her full of fluids as soon as she got there, and also gave her something to calm her stomach and nerves. Frowning she had accepted the medical help, but she didn’t like it. She was a science officer, but she wasn’t a doctor. There was a reason she went down a natural science path in college instead of the medical path. Medicine was too sterile for her, it involved too many machines, and it seemed to her that the heart had been taken out of it. Certainly it had been taken out of Lt. Hash. She imagined he had a little gear box running in his chest instead of an organic heart, by the attitude he had shown her and the other patients thus far.

She thought of the little chest she had had in her quarters, a wooden box full of glass vials each labeled. The labels reading ‘Linseed Oil’, ‘Chamomile’, ‘Lemon Grass Seed’, and so on. Everyone contained an oil, a seed, a dried herb that she had carefully collected and preserved. Had she had them she wouldn’t have needed to go to the sickbay. A dab of bergamot on her forehead and a cup of peppermint tea would have accomplished what these strange medicines they pumped into her claimed they could do. Those little vials were gone though, instead she was left with this so called medicine, probably whipped up in some replicator, devoid of life. With a sigh she settled into her chair and sipped on the hot tea she had ordered.

They had brought in a Romulan, while she was there, and Lyvette had watched with interest as Dr. Hash took her from a state of comatose to walking out of the sick bay on her own two legs. Then they had brought in the engineer. Stan. The name on his badge had rung a bell, she had of course overhead the comments bounced back and forth between the pods, but at the moment (as she still lamented over the use of these horrible medicines in her body) she couldn’t place where she remembered it from. Then again, she thought to herself, the ship had not been large and she had probably just seen him in the cafeteria or on the Turbolift during her short stay on the Cerberus. The boy was quiet ill though, feverish, pale and not responding well.

They set him down next to her, and started doing tests on the boy, but it seemed that nothing was conclusive. There were others who were brought in injured as well, it seemed that had been in pods that did not get as far away from the ship before it blew and had been hit by debris. The medical staff moved on to them and Lyvette looked over at the boy next to her. He too was being pumped full of fluids and being monitored, but it didn’t seem to help.

Sliding closer to him she reached out a hand and took his clammy hand into her own.

“It will be alright Stowbeoski… you just need to calm down some…” she knew she probably butchered his name but he didn’t seem to notice much. In fact he wasn’t responding a whole lot at all, every minute he looked worse and worse.

“Just lay down… there… I really wish I had some lemon oil with me, that might help you some. But I don’t, we’ve just got these heartless machines running around making up potions for us, god only knows what is in them… but they seem to have helped out my stomach some. Good for you too, I’m not going to puke on you.” She offered him a slight smile. “Did you know a lot of the people on board? I bet that working in engineering you did. You get to go all over the ship… I didn’t know too many. Hey! Did you know Bruce? He was in engineering too, I don’t think he made it though. Bruce Wainwright, he operated the transporter. Good guy, from Chicago he told me, I think his grandmother lived on a farm out there. Isn’t Chicago a city though? Well how should I know, I’m from England. You a states boy yourself? I went to the states once, but only stayed in New York City, for a conference on chloroplasts. They’ve been working hard on those recently. Trying to find ways to reproduce them, and to channel the energy from them. Might be useful some day on these star ships. Hey, they keep working on it who knows they might find a way to power these boats with plants, and then you and I could work side by side down in engineering. Wouldn’t that be the day. But there are some scientists working on just that, and other things of course, chloroplasts have many interesting applications you know. Well I imagine you don’t… most people don’t. You know the first time I looked at one under the microscope I went running home to tell my mother and she just kind of raised and eyebrow at me and asked me why I was so interested in seeing chloroform… I just rolled my eyes, she never did understand plants the way I did, but she always let me play with them anyways. Oh… you know I’ve gone and done it again… I haven’t introduced myself. Ensign Lyvette, but you can call me Curie. Everyone back at the university called me Curie. I think that the two of us sitting around in sick bay don’t really need to worry about formalities…”

And she went on and on, talking to the poor boy, smoothing out his shaking hands with her soft fingers, applying cool cloths to his head to try and calm the fever and just being there with him so he wouldn’t be afraid and alone, and so that she wouldn’t have to think about what had happened as much.

“Oh Lizzie! My sweet! Are you alright?” she asked, not taking the time to acknowledge Hilliard. “ I got here as soon as I could!”. Oh it must have been absolutely horrible for you”, she continued without giving Lizzie a chance to respond. “I was so worried about you! When did it happen? Were you the one who found them?” (Lizzie responds by repeating the Information she had given to Hilliard just minutes before.)

“Oh dear…I wasn’t here…I wasn’t here.” She repeated. “How can I ever forgive myself!” For the first time she turned and acknowleged Hiliard. “Oh Marshall, I'm so sorry for ignoring you, I'm just in shock right now" she said apologetically. "Where are the bodies? May I see them?” She asked.

Lizzie embraced her sister back tightly. “Oh Emma, it has been horrible. Just awful. But it isn’t your fault. I’m actually glad you were away, I simply couldn’t have bore it at all if you had been killed too. I’m so glad your home.” She pulled back and set her grey eyes on Emma, they were not wet, and her voice carried only the slightest hint of emotion.

“You really don’t want to see them sister. I haven’t seen Mrs. Borden, only father, but that was bad enough. Perhaps she isn’t dead, I mean… I haven’t seen her…” her brow furrowed as if in thought, then she shook her head, “No she must be, Bowen saw her, and he wouldn’t lie to me. Are you hungry Emma, after your trip you must be. Maggie is working on getting together some dinner. I haven’t eaten either, though I’d avoid the milk…” she leaned over toward Emma. “I fear it might be poisoned… but really I’m not that hungry, but you should eat something.”

Turning to Hilliard, “Is there anything else Marshall? Or may I take Emma to the kitchen to have a bite to eat?”

Subject: Getting a Second Opinion

“It is obvious that head trauma killed this victim”, he stated, turning to Dr. Bowen, “ trauma done with some sort of blunt weapon, heavy too. The entire side of the face was destroyed, the cheek bone shattered, the entire occipital orbit damaged. But of course, you knew that. What I find curious is that nothing else on him is touched. Absolutely nothing”. He paused.

“It’s a puzzlement”

Dr. Bowen looked at Dolan with his mouth open a little bit, and the awe apparent in his face. “Blunt object… ahh… well yes I had thought of that, of course.” He fumbled a bit and fidgeted with the cuff links holding his shirt sleeves together.

“Yes… blunt. Although… are you sure it wasn’t like a knife or something? There almost seems to be gashes… you see?” He pointed toward the corpses forehead, “Though no, you must be right, blunt, a blunt object could cause that, with enough force. I’d imagine the attacker would have to be some sort of large man to have done all that damage. You are right, though, nothing has been touched. He still has his pocket watch and the ring on his finger.”

Bowen looked around the room, “Nor has anything in here been touched. Nothing knocked over, the window is closed… shut up tight. A puzzlement indeed. Would you like to see Abby now? She’s upstairs.”

Upon getting some kind of positive response from Dolan he moved out of the dining room and into the front hall, then the two mounted the steps going upstairs. On the upper landing three doors could be seen, two of which were closed, and the third lay open with light from an open window streaming down onto the polished wooden floor of the landing.

“She’s in there. The maid and Mrs. Churchill found her I think. I had them put a sheet over her as well. You know she seemed cooler to the touch when I first examined her, maybe she was killed first. She really hasn’t been touched either, as you’ll see. It is so strange, I can’t imagine why anyone would kill Abby. Interesting story though…”

He spoke as he walked into the guest room and let Dolan examine the body.

“As I said I’m their physician. Abby came over the other morning, not this morning but I think the one before, saying that she and Andrew had been up all night vomiting. She swore that she’d been poisoned. I tried to assure her that no one would poison her, it was just some bad food I said, and gave them some castor oil and told them to drink it with port wine and they would be fine. I came by the house later in the day to check on them, but Andrew refused to see me, saying he wouldn’t pay for an uncalled house call… surely old man he was.” He shrugged a little. “Tis strange though, I spent so much time trying to convince her that no one would poison her, and now here she is laying on the floor with her head bashed in… poor dear Abby…”

Subject: Lelain checking in

Lelain stood in the little compartment they had stolen themselves into. In her hands she held a small gun. She hoped that she didn’t have to use it, that the gunner would do her job and keep Lelain from having to fire it, but she had it just in case things didn’t go according to plan.

Next to her the little robot, K8, was whirring and beeping and whistling away. Not very smart, Lelain thought to herself but just grunted slightly under her breath. The little droid was constantly making noise, she never stopped, and lord only knew what she was saying. Lelain had gathered little from all the bot-noise. Only that she had been working for KTI and like herself had been fired.

"While we're here... would we like missiles to go with our ship, to go?"

Suddenly from inside the box the droid was investigating came a computerized voice. Lelain heard in and jumped, not having expected to hear anything but each other moving about. She raised up her gun and pointed it at the box. K8 did not seem to notice though and went on investigating the box, then started to dismantle the dying droid inside it. The pounding in Lelain’s chest slowed, and her head began to think more rationally, as she put two and two together and realized that the droid inside the box had a translator unit in it and K8 was working to install it in herself.

It was strange watching this process, that almost seemed cannibalistic to Lelain. She shuddered slightly at seeing the droid taken apart and then it’s desired parts surgically inserted into K8. Turning her head she took a look over the little room again. It would be useful to have the translator installed in K8, maybe those bot-noises would finally make some sense. Running her hand over some of the discarded bits of war she thought again about how much she missed her old job. Pursing her lips together she kept her large eyes open, this wasn’t her old job, this was much more dangerous and much more disagreeable…

12:05 pm
Borden Home

In the sitting room Dr. Bowen had stopped helping Dr. Dolan for a moment when Mrs. Churchill came into the room and informed him that Lizzie needed his attention. But he was just getting started with Dr. Dolan, there was so much he could learn from a man like him.

With a sigh Bowen nodded to Dolan, “Just a moment good sir…” and then popped his head back into the kitchen.

“Everything alright Lizzie?”

“Yes Doctor, I’m fine. I think someone poisoned the milk, but really I’m fine. Alice is just worried about me.”

“Alright dear, I’ll finish up with Dr. Dolan, but if you need me I’ll be right here…”

Lizzie nodded and Bowen slipped back into the sitting room and rubbed his hands together, “Well what do you think doctor?” he grinned a bit at Dolan.

Then Bridget had come in and Lizzie looked over at her.

She returns to the kitchen, to check on Lizzie.

"Lizzie?" Bridget begins tentatively, but before she does what she was bidden to do, she had to ask one thing first.

"Lizzie, did you need me to do the dishes, or was there any laundry you had that needed washing?" Bridget asks, her hands beginning to shake slightly; she is clearly keeping herself calm by immersing herself in her work at this point.

As almost an afterthought, after Lizzie replies to her first question, Bridget adds, "I'm afraid Mr. Hilliard would like to see you now."

“Well… we haven’t had dinner yet, I am not all that hungry, but perhaps the others here are, Addie, Dr. Bowen, Alice… even the Marshall. Perhaps you should get something together for everyone. Biscuits, some of those cookies, perhaps get some pears from the backyard, and… maybe warm up some of that mutton soup again…”

Then she heard her say that Mr. Hilliard needed to see her.

“Of course he does.” She nodded and stood up smoothing out her dress. “Addie if you could help Bridget please…?” and then Lizzie went into the dining room.

In the dining room Lizzie gave an awkward smile to Hilliard. “Well Rufus, welcome to our home, I do wish this was under better circumstances of course. Emma is on her way… in case you were wondering.”

She took a seat opposite of Hilliard. “I suppose you want to know all the basics. Well… to start with today… I got up around nine am and came downstairs. I spoke to father and Mrs. Borden. Father left first, he always goes out in the morning to check on business in town, and today he was also going to go to the post office to deliver a letter I was sending to Emma. Then Mrs. Borden left, she said she had a note to see a friend who was sick. I don’t know who is sick. It was just Bridget and I in the house. I really didn’t see her until father came home, that would have been some time before eleven I’d think. Bridget let him in and I talked to him about the mail, then he went upstairs and I went out into the barn. You see I needed iron for sinkers for fishing, I was going to join Emma out in Fairhaven and we were going to go fishing. I think I found some, but left them there, I am not… well was not I guess I’m not going at all now, going to go for a few days see? Well I came back inside… and found father. I sent Bridget for Dr. Bowen… but he wasn’t home. Then I sent her to find Alice, and Mrs. Churchill came over… and… and after that…” she paused to think, “Well I think that’s when Bridget and Alice came by and found Mrs. Borden upstairs. I had thought that maybe I had heard the front door and that she might have come home, so they went to see if they could find her… I haven’t seen her since this morning… Dr. Bowen came over some time around then too, and went to send a telegram to Emma.”

She stopped a moment and looked at Hilliard, then went on in a calm collected way, as if she were not speaking of the murder of her parents, but instead what they should have for dinner.

“To be honest I am not all that surprised this has happened. We have been sick all week. Mrs. Borden and father were up late the other night vomiting, I could hear them through wall, and Mrs. Borden even went to Dr. Bowen for castor oil. You know I think she said something about poison, and I think she might have been right. I told Bridget not to serve you tea because I’m afraid that might be poisoned. The other day I heard some man and father arguing in the living room. And he was with someone late last night too, I could hear them talking downstairs, and they were so loud I even had to shut my door. But I don’t know who that was. Father didn’t have a lot of friends here in town, though I can’t think of anyone in particular that would want him dead. You know about the burglaries of course. Someone must have wanted him dead… I really wish I knew who so I could help more… but I’m just afraid I only know that he is dead and that I’ve had a funny feeling the last week. I hope this is helpful. Is there anything else?”
