If smiting didn't make me cry I think I'd almost have to smite you for that last post.

But yes... we can hope, or that she picked up something back at the drugstore...

There are always staple guns too...

Did anyone pick up a tetnas (sp?) shot?

Ohhh... went ahead with a little fluff of my own. Looks like someone recognizes the Father.

I think as long as we're all on agreement with the plan we should be good for a GM postage to let us know how Mac is doing at least.

Subject: Anyone but him!

The man outside had proclaimed, in a voice that was slowly becoming naggingly familiar, that he was not going to eat them. Well… he had recited a bible verse that at least indicated that he wasn’t. When he stepped inside the hardware store the tiny smile that he spread across her lips when Tom had laughed at her comment slipped off her face.

Father Ted… God do you have a sense of humor…

Murph was stepping forward to go through the introductions, and go over their situation. When Murph ticked over her name she offered the briefest of nods to the man holding the elephant gun. The next moment she turned on her heel, returning back to where Mac was laying in a puddle of his own blood.

She pushed back the tears that stung against her eyelids as best she could and looked at Emily when she came to inspect the wound and offer whatever assistance she could to the man. “Let me know if you need any help… my hands are relatively steady…”

One of her hands, still stained with Mac’s blood, rose to a plane level with the ground, it shook a little bit but not enough to prevent her from working.

Truly the tears trying to impair her vision were a bigger threat all things considered. Her emotions were so shattered at this point she wasn’t even sure what they were for; Anger? Fear? Grief?

Focus Amber… focus and help Emily out. Just avoid the good Father as much as you can. Avoid him and keep your mouth shut, no need to cause any hassles.

God… I need Joshua. I’ll play nice with the stupid Father if you’ll just promise me that Joshua is okay… that he isn’t laying like Mac… this isn’t how it is supposed to go…

This wasn’t how my life was supposed to go. Why? Why did it all have to go like this!!?

God where is my son!?

The image of that little toddler from that movie flashed through her mind, he tottered down the hall with the syringe in his hand calling for his mother. Her hand began to shake a bit more, and she quickly clamped it shut into a fist, her eyes clenching tightly at the same time, spilling a few tears.

“No…” she groaned a little. Behind her she heard Tom still talking, and took a deep breath.

It’s not over yet…

Sure about that?

She shook her head at the voice in her head. Slowly her dark eyes reopened and she looked at Emily. “Let’s get to work then…”

Emily does actually have supplies needed to stich someone up right?

String of some sort and a needle? Or are we going to have to use Malek's idea and just duct tape him up...?

Which is why we don't need any more.

Getting everyone hopped up on sugar and nothing of substance will just cause a major crash later on that might be worse than coming off anything Amber's got stashed in her bag.

Neat how the human body refuses to run properly when sugar is the only source of fuel given to it.

Protien, some source of complex carbs (ie whole grain) and some fruits or veggies would be our best bet for foods right now.

Since you brought Jebus into all of this...

I think it's a bad idea to move Mac until he's been stitched. Sanitary napkins will only hold for so long.

Do we stay long enough to get him patched up then everyone head to the grocery store, load up... then head to the harbor?

I like Mac & Murph running across the street to get food.

((please dear God no candy bars... get useful stuff, canned meat, fruit, veggies, crackers, PB... and a can opener, because if we have to reenact that scene from The Pianist I'll cry))

With a gun, her prior training to be a nurse and her bag of goodies Amber is more needed with the injured... although I'm not sure how great she'll feel about being left with the good Reverend and watching Murph walk off, but it makes the most sense

So long as whoever goes across the street has guns that would probably make the most sense.

*shudders* God I just agreeed to splitting up the party for a bit. I'm going to help get us all killed I know it.

From a player p.o.v. having Emily fix up Mac's shoulder while still in the store would make the most sense. He's currently unconcious, so he shouldn't scream too much, and it will be easier to move him if he's properly stitched up.

We also have shelter to do it in currently, who knows when the next time that will happen will be... oh and at least some daylight from the windows to help as well. Waiting around another few hours will make it more difficult I'd imagine... I watched them try to do that on M.A.S.H. a few times, it always caused more problems than it solved.

For a Dead Lady

No more with overflowing light
Shall fill the eyes that now are faded,
Nor shall another's fringe with night
Their woman-hidden world as they did.

No more shall quiver down the days
The flowing wonder of her ways,
Whereof no language may requite
The shifting and the many-shaded.

The grace, divine, definitive,
Clings only as a faint forestalling;
The laugh that love could not forgive
Is hushed, and answers to no calling;
The forehead and the little ears
Have gone where Saturn keeps the years;
The breast where roses could not live
Has done with rising and with falling.

The beauty, shattered by the laws
That have creation in their keeping,
No longer trembles at applause,
Or over children that are sleeping;
And we who delve in beauty's lore
Know all that we have known before
Of what inexorable cause
Makes Time so vicious in his reaping.

Edward Arlington Robinson

((I'm terrible at writting my own poetry, much better at prose, so I just use other people's. Robinson is one of my all time favorite poets))

Well I was waiting for Teddy to respond and come in personally.

Beyond that for someone to make a decision. I'm playing the passive character who in all honesty is just going to follow Tom around like a cute little puppy until she gets eaten or does herself in.

Mrs. Bickerson will have opinions if I ever have to pull her out, but Amber doesn't really.

I don't think a high would be the goal in that situation.

Yeah... just maybe we wary if she hands you a drink.

She just handed Tom some water! Beware! It might be laced with something... 'What Tom? I thought I discussed the suicide pact with you... no? Well... umm... you won't go alone...'

Father Teddy has yet to answer Amber's question as to whether he plans on eating anyone yet. He might just say yes and we'll have to try and bash his brains in.

I doubt Amber would know where the police station was... or would even be thinking too hard about it even if she did. Hell I'm not even sure where the police station is in my city... yeah come to think of it I only know of where one is in the whole expanded city I live in. *shrug* Can't say I have much need for them, thankfully. They've always shown up in a car when I've needed them. (which has happened more than I'd really care to think of *sigh*)

But... I digress...

How about we just skip the whole discussion of where to go... The hardware store's gotta have some rat poison, we can lace that in some coolaid from Treasure Island and forget the whole mess

Subject: Welcome Father

The makeshift bandage was secured into place, Mac was still unconscious.

So likely he doesn’t need any of your drugs to quench the pain… more for me…

She pulled back into a crouched position, knowing she could do nothing further at this moment, the doctor in training should really take a look at him, when she got a chance. Judging from the sound of gunfire exploded to her left, though, she didn’t think that she would have the chance just yet.

The hatchet she had picked up sat at her side, almost blankly she looked down at the brand new gleaming edge. Lucky for Alaster she did, for in its shiny face she caught a glimpse of something less than human moving nearby.

Bloody horrid creatures! It’s just wrong to fall to one of those. A wound from a weapon, starving to death, hell even a belly full of pills is better… anything is better than being eaten by these things…

Her blood soaked hand reached over and grabbed the handle of the hatchet, quickly rising up to her feet (another one of those neat tricks you learn while taking off your clothes), she moved fluidly, swinging the weapon in an arc until it buried its head in the decaying back of the creature with a squishy thud.

Just like the thing she had whacked with the crowbar earlier she barely thought while she did it. As the creature fell to the ground she stared at it, then let her eyes tick up to Alaster a moment. She gave him a quick look that could almost be a smile, but wasn’t quiet there.

Near the front of the store there was more commotion, shots firing, screams peeling across the linoleum. She, however was busy bending down to pull the hatchet out of the mound of flesh laying on the floor to give them much more thought or attention.

Finally a deafening round sounded off followed by a more surreal silence. The silence drew her attention. The front of the store was truly a scene from one of those Triple B’s. Gore splattered the floor, sometimes in heaps large enough to be one of those creatures, or one of those she had been trapped in the basement of O’Brians with. She imagined, rightfully, that she was starting to look like them too. Blood and sweat smeared over flesh as badges of their pain and effort.

One of the piles began to move, and she realized with a bit of horror that it was Murph, crawling off the floor and to his knees to spit up whatever was left in his stomach. The others were gathering around another heap of flesh, that seemed to be wearing the clothes Emily had been earlier, she was down, but moving some.

Mother ******. I don’t have the training to deal with the wound I just clogged up with pads… not really. We need her. Dear Lord what if she’s been bitten… what if we have to kill her like we should have Jake?

“Report,” she heard Murph ask in a hoarse voice and noticed that he was standing up now, “how’re we doin’?”

God… what if he’s been bit?

Her mind flashed an image of the bottles in her bag.

How are we doing? ******. That’s how we are doing. And not in a good way…

She looked over at Mac still unconscious on the ground. Next to him several items that had been in her bag were spilled across the floor, a few covered in his blood. She reached down and picked up one of the bottles of water and stepped closer to Murph.

In a shaky voice she tried to answer him, “I got… Mac bandaged up… its only temporary though, he’ll need further care,” her eyes went to Emily nervously then back to Murph, “he’s unconscious.”

When he reached for her she passed the bottle of water to him, letting their fingers brush for a moment.

“Sexy move there Tom…” she whispered to him and forced a smile to go with it.

“Yeah,” Alaster answered before Murph found the proper use for his own breathe and replied for himself, “He's fine. Miss trooper over here bashed that zombies brains in, no problem. Murph has a nice thank you in store for her.”

“For you, too, kid,” Murph muttered, drawing up to the group at Amber’s side, “You two definitely saved my a**… Thanks.”

“I want to know who saved us from out there. That man has style whoever it is.”

“That man has Jesus and a bazooka is what that man has,” Murph smirked, catching sight of Reverend Artillery’s form wading across Treasure Island’s parking lot.

“I can’t say I ever had much use for Jesus or a bazooka, but right now I might be willing to reconsider my feelings on both subjects…” Amber muttered then watched as the man approached and called out to them.

”My children, God truly lays a magnificent gift before me in this time of need. He has told me of your struggle, and I am here to ease your burden. If you would have me enter, I would very much like to make your acquaintances.”

“Eloquent speaker at least…” Then taking up the role the group’s PR consultant she rose her voice. “So long as you promise you won’t eat us you’re welcome to enter. Otherwise we’ll have to smash you into a bloody pulp before you get your dinner.”

And I’ll take the first swing… I will die out here… but not like that… not like that…

I figured the gauze she had was probably not sufficient enough.

And yeah... I had just read Gerald's Game. She uses pads in the book, and that was the reason I had Amber pick them up.

Glad I got to use them so quickly. They are super absorbent.

I'm actually debating if Amber would be willing to 'share' some of her 'candy' with him...

If the zombies don't kill him she just might.
