Oh come on guys...

There is one Law&Order! I liked it when the one cop was played by the actor who did Lumier's voice. He passed away a few years ago... what was his name?

*snaps fingers (oh nm you guys don't know that reference...ummm.... at any rate)*

He was a cool guy, both the character and the actor.

*nod*

Would you rather - Gear or Char: I think I would say the gear. Tis a shame to loose a character and have to redo background stories and such. Plus the challenge of trying to accomplish a goal without all those extra's is fun!

With thoughts Penelope reached out to Smoke, Get Alex out of here. We don't know what the girl can do, she might kill him without even realizing it. I'll try and do what I can, but I need you both to go inside... now.

Smoke stood there on the street. The girl had lost her attention on the kitty when Penelope came into the picture and started to talk to the girl, about her friend, no doubt Rosie. She hesitated. She didn't like to be bossed around, especially by some vixen woman who has been in her life for all of ten minutes. The thought of her hooking up with Alex had been alright, Alex needed a good hookup, it had been too long. But that didn't mean she wanted this woman to come in and boss her around.

No matter what she wanted or didn't want Penelope to do, however, the woman had a point. With a slightly disgruntled "mew" Smoke had to admit that.

She turned, gave Penelope no further conversation, only the flip of her grey stripped tail as she bounded back toward where Alex stood on the pavement. She had made a promise long ago to protect her gifted human. Penelope would have to fend for herself, she wasn't human even if she was gifted. Alex needed Smoke more than the immortal vixen did. She ran her slender body around Alex's feet.

Alex, Rose needs us. Penelope has the girl. We have to go inside now, she offered to Alex, and Alex alone, in as calm a voice as she could, even though the slightly oily sickly feeling the girl had driven down her spine when she touched the cat still lingered.

The aspirin hit her blood stream and it began to slow the throbbing pain in her leg. It also helped her to relax and to formulate her plan. She would finish up what she had to in here and then go to sleep. In the morning she might try to find some food here instead of dipping into her stash of crackers. After that she would venture out, alone, find some store and see if there was anything left that would be worth adding to her supplies and then she would head out on foot, south.

She had to stay focused on her goals. With a sigh she got up and went back to the sink where Mr. Bubble was soaking in cold water. She grabbed the bar of soap off the soap stand and plunged her hands into the water. The pink material of the shirt slid through her fingers as she began scrubbing the soap into it. The water had turned pink and the bubbles that now frothed on its surface had a pink tint to them as well.

How many times have you done this? a voice asked her. And she sighed.

Everything she had done in the past few years she had done to avoid just this. She kept scrubbing but closed her eyes as she remembered the first time she had done this. Only then it had not been a Mr. Bubble t-shirt. Then it had been an off white silk framed in lace from La Perla. What had been meant as an apology was soaked in her blood. Her tears had fallen over the soap bubbles that formed in the sink that night. There were no tears left in her now.

The smiling face of the bubble brush on the pink cotton was nearly clear of the blood stains. It was not a perfect job she noted as she let the sink drain and rinsed it out. But it was not La Perla. She wrung it out and then hung it over the shower bar, watching the drops of water that fell from it and landed on the edge of the tub. For a moment she looked longingly at the shower. A nice long hot shower would be great right now. But she needed sleep and she need to stay on guard here. Showers relaxed her, she didn’t want to be relaxed. Controlled, but not relaxed.

The jeans are picked up and the first aid kit is as well as she goes back into the room. The clock reads 11:20. But she had missed what the woman had said about coming downstairs. So she just sighs at the late hour as she plops down onto the small bed. From her bag she pulls out the nightstick she had been prepared to take out if anything seemed overly wrong on their way here. Now she sets it beside her before she pulls the jeans onto her bare lap and starts to use the small sewing kit that was in the first aid box to stitch up the tear in the leg.

Ela had smiled back a little bit to Crow, giving him a slight nod to confirm what he smiled about. She had of course watched his back. She always had, and she always would.

She listened to the others make their suggestions.

"A sleep spell would probaby be the best idea yes. But I would not count on them having a way inside. They could simply be more guards. Although it does seem they have a prisoner. It would of course be useful if she was the princess... but Shinara does not throw her light upon me so don't count on that either." She sighed a little.

"Either way though, the first step is putting them to sleep I agree. Where to go from there will no doubt depend on who is in that sack and whether or not they have some means on them to gain entrance inside."

Never in her life had Thealora Justinia been so terrified. It was so intense she could chew it and felt the bitter taste it seeped running down her throat. She had not even told her body to move. Her feet had back pedaled her to her current position out of pure adrenaline run instinct.

The sight of one of those horrible creatures crashing through space in her direction had stopped the instinct, however and instead a lead weight formed in her stomach and pinned her to her position. The moments of her life began to flash before her. She saw her parents and her brother, the temples she had worked in, the eyes of the desperate victims of the fever as they had died in her arms. Before she dies, however, there is a flash and something topples over her. Thea crashes back fully into the ground with the shock and it takes several heartbeats before she first recognizes that she has not died, yet, and that it is Rose who is over her, protecting Thea with her own body from the horrid creature that attacks.

Seconds of breath that she had not expected to pull into her lungs pass. When Rose pulled off her to face the creature she was not certain but now the bloody smile of Rose consumes Thea’s vision. The pretty lips of the confident woman were moving, she was speaking to Thea. Desperatly Thea tried to concentrate, to hear the words that Rose said over the throbbing pounding of her heart. All she heard was: “… take action now…”

Action!? Action!? What could she mean? What am I supposed to do? I don’t fight… I cannot… I don’t know how and even if I did… I have nothing to fight with. I just want to go home! Eofara was right, I should not have come. What if I die? Here under the stench of that… that… thing. What if they all die? What does she want me to do? I’m just a little girl.

The tears that had until then been too frightened to spill across her cheeks start in a downpour now. Through them she can still see those around her and the creatures; she can see the blood and hear the battle that rages.

The darkness starts as spots, dots of ink that take over her vision and her thoughts. They quickly spread until just before the world disappears for her she whispers into the air.

“Lady Mirros… guide me!”

The young woman falls against the ground, eyes rolling back into her head as she falls and goes limp there in the middle of all the chaos.

Subject: 1st Year Student - Kiirnon Talren

Character Background/Concept
Kiirnon Talren grew up in a small town nestled just south of a great forest and the eastern shore of a river. The town happened to be the stopping point for many travelers and merchant caravans. It was a peaceful place but not without its flaws.

Kiirnon's mother was a seamstress and his father was one of the town's blacksmiths. He has a younger sister who has been blessed with the gifts of magic.

Kiirnon didn't have a terribly difficult childhood, but it wasn't easy either. There were a few families and merchants who accepted his family. Most of the town was pretty much indifferent toward them. However, there were members of the community that outright hated his family. Kiirnon's family happened to be of Drow heritage and it showed in their looks. Kiirnon himself had slate gray skin, grayish-purple eyes, and jet black hair with a white streak running through it. He stuck out like a sore thumb, even though he did his best, and wanted nothing more than to fit in. There were several places he was not allowed to go, stores and shops he could not enter. He was even accused various times of stealing from shops that he had never stepped foot in. Kiirnon discovered quickly enough how to hide well, and defend himself. He tried to avoid fights, but when it was inevitable he usually won, though he did take his share of beatings.

Kiirnon would listen to conversations when he was in stores, at town meetings, or just walking along the street. He learned much of his community and the people in it. He gathered a bit of information here and there from merchants about the world outside of his town and developed a yearning to explore. He developed a knack for climbing and would test his skills every opportunity he got.

His great grandfather Erudan, and the source of Kiirnon's drow heritage, had watched him grow up and saw his abilities. He recognized that despite not having the innate magig of the Drow, the boy had potential, and he meant to hone it. Erudan started training Kiirnon in the ways of the rogue when he was 14 years old. He taught him about balance and traps, and tempered his patience and reflexes. Erudan also imparted several other skills he would need to be successful. Kiirnon enjoyed the lessons he learned from his great grandfather and found them to be a distraction from the troubles he faced in the town. Kiirnon would help Erudan on any jobs he was able to. Soon he was sent to take on his own small jobs, with Erudan always watching. Of course the mentor had to test his apprentice and observe his progress.

One night Erudan sent Kiirnon on a simple mission to steal the ledger of a merchant in a town not far away. The task was a bit more difficult then Kiirnon had expected, but he was patient. He made it into the merchant's office and picked the lock on the desk. He opened the drawer and pocketed the ledger, but something had caught his eye where the ledger was just sitting. It was an envelope with his name on it. It had a wax seal with the crest of a red dragon on it. He opened itto discover what looked like an invitation. He quickly placed the letter in his cloak, closed the desk drawer and returned home. When he returned home he pulled the letter back out and read it. It was an invitation to attend a school. The Red Wyrm School of Online Adventuring. He showed the letter to Erudan. After much contemplation, Erudan suggested that Kiirnon should go. He thought it would give Kiirnon the chance to see what was beyond the river valley, to gain valuable life experience, and most of all find a place where he could possibly fit in.

Professor Merideth O’Leary
Staff’s Private Residences
Week 1 – Monday Afternoon

Most of the staff was provided with small cottage like homes on the edge of the school’s property. One night a week they had ‘Dorm Duty’ and stayed in an apartment at the end of the student’s dorm wing. This was not Merideth’s night for that, she thanked the heavens.

With the new students settled and in the competent hands of Tann she had excused herself for the day. One bowl of gruel dumping over her head was enough.

I do hope that I can get those three bloody trouble makers to graduate soon. I haven’t the slightest clue as to why I accepted them into the school in the first place. she sighed as she trudged along the path that led to her sanctuary from the madness of the school.

“Yes I do. Their mother impressed me.” Her eyes rolled at that.

“Note to self Merideth… next time make sure you met the prospective students and not just their parents before you let them in. Just as you did that goblin. That application surely threw you, but he’s worked out thus far. A little tense yes… but no real issues just yet. Certainly no gruel in my hair over it…” she groaned and moved to run her hand through her locks and stopped just short of the sticky mass that they had turned into.

Minutes later she opened the door of her cabin and stepped in. Lounged out in a rocking chair with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders and a book propped in his hand was a lanky elven man. Under the blanket he was dressed simply in a green tunic and brown pants, she knew he wore no shoes even though he had his feet tucked under himself in his nearly catlike curl in the chair. His long brown hair hadn’t been pulled back and lay in a silken spread down his shoulders. Slowly his eyes lifted, dark green valleys, and a smile tugged his lips.

Eledhost looked up at the woman who stepped in. She started at the floor in heavy brown boots that were old and caked in her life, but were also soft and clung to her calves until they gave away to the soft tan doe skin pants. The blue men’s cut tunic she wore was cinched to her curves with a leather vest, and he knew quiet well that despite the appearance the outfit could hide several weapons and that she was rather skilled and pulling them from the hidden pockets with a deadly silence. The large coat that dusted the ground could also hide many things. But the bright blue eyes that hid under the, normally, lovely expanse of red curls could hide very little from him. Today they were hidden under matted down curls and spoke of a rough day at the school.

Merideth watched as he put down the book and walked over to her. Her lips parted as she started to find the words to tell him what had happened. He only shook his head and pressed a finger to her lips silencing them.

“Bath first love… then you can you tell me all about how terrible the students are again… but right now you get a hot bath…” He smiled and took her hand, leading her out of the main room.

Combat Yard
Week 1 – Monday afternoon

Professor O’Leary had been correct, lunch would have to be called short to make it Professor Tann’Talas’s class. They filed out together, the seasoned students leading the wet ones, and a little goblin hobbling along behind.

The Combat Yard, sometimes known as Tann’s Field of Death, was nestled between two hall ways that formed an ‘L’ shaped border of two sides of the field. It stretched out from the joining point of that ‘L’ out toward the woods, and sometimes even made use of the first several hundred feet of the woods.

One leg of the ‘L’ was protected by a large overhanging awning. Under the awning shelves, brackets and pegs had been built onto the exterior wall of the school to house an arsenal of weapons and armor. The storage space was carefully designed to not only hold the various implements used on the Combat Yard but also to protect it. Locks and magical wards rested over anything that the Professor did not want students to touch that day. An expanse of bare shelf was set aside for students to place anything they carried with them that the Professor asked them to leave behind for the days lessons.

The Yard itself was a patch work quilt of various terrain and training sections. Most of it was paved in heavily packed earth with straw kicked around atop it to help when it rained and the ground turned into sucking mud. Hay foes of various sizes and shaped dotted the Yard. A vague ring of flat stone in the middle of the Yard often held hand to hand combat lessons. There was a sand pit, a dirty pond and even a small mountain of boulders not to mention the lands hidden by the forest that could be fought upon as well. An archery range stretched down one length of the yard while an obstacle course stretched down the other.

All in all it was an impressive set up and one that was always being improved upon by the faculty to give their students as well rounded an education in the forms of combat as possible.
