Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Clock Tower
Subject: My Real Name?

The woman wearing the sunglasses, hiking boots, jeans and a Hard Rock San Diego t-shirt of equal worn out appearance had curled herself into the seat, a brown backpack squished protectively between her chest and her drawn up legs. Wrapped around her was a red and purple fleece blanket. Propped between the window and her head a light pink stuffed animal bunny was serving as her pillow. She did not sleep even though the dark circles under her eyes screamed of how little sleep she had gotten recently. The smell of the chemicals on her dyed red hair combined with the thoughts running through her head kept her awake.

Every time someone shifted in the car she jumped and turned her head in their direction. The young man directly across from her disturbed her some, but he had kept to himself, as had everyone else, so she did not do more than keep an eye on him. Besides her moving gaze she was generally restless. The worn out paperback book would appear from her bag now and then, but she could never get further than a few paragraphs before it would go back in the bag. Tubes of crackers would come of the bag between attempts at the book, which she would chew on nervously letting the crumbs fall all over the blanket before getting exasperated and wiping them off frantically and shoving the crackers back in her bag. Her fingers fiddled with the edges of her pants and the hem of the blanket. She just wanted this trip to be over with. Every clack of the train wheels took her closer to Mexico. Mexico, she had to get to Mexico.

When the train slowed to a stop she sat upright in her chair and peered first out into the darkness that surrounded the train, but saw nothing more exciting than the few lights of a sleepy desert town, she then turned her shaded glance over the car, looking at each patron suspiciously.

The loudspeaker announced that they were experiencing mechanical issues. Her mouth twisted into a knot.

You know dear, this is just what you deserve, after what you have done. You’ll never get to Mexico. If only you had been the good wife and mother I had raised you to be dear. None of this had to happen. You know if they find you, they won’t take you back, they’ll shoot, and likely shoot to kill.

Her mother’s voice rang through her head as her fist pounded against the arm rest in frustration.

She had just started to uncurl her hand and work refocusing her mind when the lady in the blue uniform entered the car. Immediately she threw her hand into her bag, curling her fingers around a hard solid object hidden deep within it and dropped down into the seat. Cautiously she tilted her head to get a glance of the woman in the small spaces between the seats. Not noticing any firearms or handcuffs Eve eased some, but still sat tense as a rattlesnake, ready to strike if necessary.

The blue uniformed woman spoke then, explaining that to proceed they would have to sign some contract, with their real name. What kind of rail service was this? Maybe the town had a bus station, she could catch a bus to take her down south.

And yet, the others were getting up and signing. It was only her and the strange Indian man who had yet to sign. If she tried to get off the train now it would only make her stand out. Standing out was the last thing she wanted to do. She fingered a lock of her blaring red hair, and caught a sight of the hideous color out of her peripherals. That had been a mistake, she really couldn’t afford to make any more. Her fingers released the hair and slowly moved up into the air.

“Bring it here, I’ll sign…” she said as confidently as she could. The uniformed woman brought over the folder and pen. Eve took it and carefully examined the document, formal looking, and with little written on it. Nothing overly alarming was written, what could it hurt, could she possibly get in any more trouble than she already was in?

Taking the pen she quickly scrawled her name, the letters stared up at her and for a moment her bottom lip quivered as if she might cry. She watched until the letters smudged out of legibility, and swallowed hard chocking down her tears and handed back the folder. That done she turned her back to the car and stared out the window, seeing more of her own reflection than anything beyond the window.

Borrowed time love, your living on borrowed time… her mother whispered.

"Yes, pleasant day, made especially pleasant by Friend Computers honor at being chosen for such an important mission." Like the others she kept her eyes down and her smile on while offering pleasantries back to the man in the blue uniform.

She then turned to the others, blinking in surprise when she caught sight of the one man's extra eye, but all the while kept her smile on plastered on her face. "Yes a team. We should really get to work on this right away, the thought of those horrible communists running free out there is frightening."

Her blue eyes sparkled, her blonde hair, pulled back from her face in a perfect ponytail, shone, even her uniform seemed almost shiny. The only thing that was not completly perfect about her was the rainbow of paint colors that she could never fully get out of her cuticles. Such were the dangers of her occupation.

More on Eve's appearance as well

28 years old
5'2"
110 lbs
Freshly cut chin length hair (obviously dyed red)

I'll put more detail as to her clothing and accessories in my first post.

I'm out of town this weekend, so I'll make sure to get something up before I leave

Hit up the library Driztts. There are books out there that have publishers in them, kind of like the white pages, only for literary folk. Usually they are catagorized by the type of works they generally publish, as well as their contact information and what they require to be sent to them and how to send it and blah blah.
I've leafed through the books, drooling over the day I could finish one of my stories and submit it (which hasn't happened yet, good for you having something finished enough for submission!), but as I just noted I haven't ever submitted anything so I don't know how well it works to just send stuff, but might be a good place to start.

PS. Good Luck!

Subject: Ohh

I had only seen the short teaser preview at the theaters until now. Those only had the ship docked at some space station getting worked on, then again the Enterprise was ALWAYS getting worked on, Kirk never could figure out that star ships were not meant for bumper cars...

Gonna have to see this one, even though it is likely it isn't going to be very good, at least it looks way better than the new Star Wars movie coming out!

When and where?

For the purposes of maintaining the peace and keeping our great sector clean of communists are there cameras, microphones, or other means of surveillance that Friend Computer has installed? If there are are they in private quarters, public spaces, and/or work environments?

She had gotten in a swing at one of the abominations, but it wasn’t enough, the creature struck her, hard. The pain was terrible, but the smell was worse. It drifted off the rotting form like a thick cloud as it neared and then overwhelmed her as it tried to initiate her in it’s band.

Face turning greener still she stumbled back off the edge of the road and toward the trees behind her, she managed to keep her footing though, and was grateful for that, the mandolin was on her back and if she had fallen the precious instrument would have fatally broken her fall.

With gratitude in her eyes she watched as her companions came to her aid, even the wolf, but their efforts failed also failed to bring down the corpse. Preparing herself mentally to launch herself forward again with the blade she heard Isaac over the fray. More of them coming. There was no way they could fight them all off, they had to get out he was right. But she was wounded, a quick glance told her she was the only one thus far, a silent curse escaped over her lips.

So instead of moving forward she took another step away from the attacking carrion, keeping her eyes on it the whole time. Crouching down slightly she sheathed her sword and flipped open one of the pouches on her belt, out of it came a small clay vial. Using her teeth to pull out the cork she then let a drop of silver liquid fall to the ground at her feet. The cork popped back into the bottle and then disappeared into her pouch. Very softly she began to whisper very quietly, looking down at the bead of mercury on the ground and fingering the mother-of-pearl pendants around her neck to help focus her concentration.

“Lidana I beg you to help me now… Be with me now and give me strength to get out of this… I call upon Telamor, be with me now as well… Let this drop of mercury become the method of my salvation, let it form a disc that I may ride out of here… Telamor I beg this of you as your humble servant…”

((Casting Tenser’s Floating Disc, which if it works she will get upon and attempt to get to a height out of the reach of the zombies and float up the road as Isaac had suggested))

And not just for the DM, Hammer had Meera listed as Syana's companion in his last post if I read it correctly...
And perhaps I'm just getting everyone further confused now...
And yes please have the puppy helping Syana, never did complain about that. Just wanted everyone clear on the fact that Meera is a good puppy and helps out all of her companions but that Shianna is her partner.

I'm working on getting Syana out of the way now.

Rer already mentioned this, but it still appears like there might be some confusion: Meera is with Shianna, not Syana. Eh... picked names that were too similar.
Out of the compassion in Meera's heart she could have attacked the zombie on Syana, but she is offically traveling with Shianna.

So... Shianna has a wolf, and Syana doesn't really ever talk.

Alright, on with the show!
