Topic: Witchcraft: Stare into the Night
Subject: Follow that girl!

Smoke had been cat napping since pulling herself out of Rosie's sleep. She was debating things. The girl's paranoia finally made some sense. How much of a threat it still was though, Smoke wasn't sure. She wanted to talk to Alex about it, but he was busy right now. A sound reverberated through her head as she thought about these things, an electric sound, a high pitched buzzing that sometimes made the hair on her spine spike up until she shook it out.

While all this bounced around Alex and the immortal, Smoke was not completely certain what to call her, but she wasn't human and she was relatively powerful, were talking downstairs. She heard their voices now and then, heard the cash register open (this caught her off guard for a moment, so far as she knew she had been the only to know about what was stashed there), and then heard Alex's voice raised slightly and calling for her.

The soft grey triangles of her ears perked up and turned toward the hallway when she heard her name. A pink nose turned back toward Rosie, watching as she slept peacefully for the moment.

"Be right back love, you sleep, sleep," she whispered and then got up, gracefully landed on the floor and took her time stretching out her spine before bounding down the stairs.

"I was trying to give you some alone time," She sent to Alex as she came into the room and began to look around. But that's as far as the witty comments got. At the bottom of the stairs she noticed that Alex and Penelope were both looking at the door, so Smoke let her eyes follow their gaze and then noticed the red glowing ‘ward'.

"Rosie, the clock," This was simply sent into the room for whoever was receptive enough to pick it up. Her voice did not have the usual lazy sarcastic tone it usually did. Instead it rang with urgency.

Running she came into the room and did not hesitate as she leapt up into the front window. By the time she landed her tail had doubled in size and the hair on her back stood up while those golden eyes peered out onto the street. She was half expecting a monstrous clock with black tentacle arms reaching toward the store, gobbling up spectators that got in the way. What she noticed was perhaps even more alarming though. Out of the corner of her eye she catches the pale blue dress, and see's the girl just as she is about to leave the walk in front of this storefront and enter the walk before the next.

"Alice? No, it can't be," her kitty voice sounding confused.

A quick dash and her puffed up figure is in the next window trying to get a better look at the girl, but she is moving down the street too fast. She gets up on her hind legs and presses her front paws against the window as she tries to lean closer. Then she's at the door, stretching up and pawing at the knob.

"Damn lack of thumbs! Let me out Alex, now, I need to get a better look, LET ME OUT!" she demands this from him, one of the few times she has ever really demanded anything of him.

Rer - when those wards go off and Alex calls Smoke downstairs, is anything going on with Rosie that would catch Smoke's attention and keep her in the room with the girl, or is she just sleeping peacefully?

Background:
Here is a brief list of each of her lifetimes (Most of the events are inspired by actual historical events, as best as Wikipedia has led me to believe )

1520 - 1530 London, Mary Sullivan, on artist

1531 - 1543 London, Buckingham Castle, Charles Bart, worked in kitchen of castle, she witnesses the end of the Boylen affair

1545 - 1551 Dublin, Liam O'Shea, Gravedigger

1560 -1569 Chelmsford, England, Sybil Waterhouse, sister of Agnes Waterhouse who was hung for witchcraft involving a familiar. In Chelmsford there were many witch crazes in the following years. Often related to familiars. Several Bast's were present in the town, attracted to each other and forming their own coven to stand side by side with the huamn coven. Wicce based, however, most of the cats (including Ellgawen) did not thing to stop the slaughters. (Note: This is something she likely has NOT told Alex about)

1571 - 1582 Chelmsford, England, Joan Upney, accused of witchcraft and hung.

1583 - 1590 Chelmsford, England, Geroge Upney

1606 - 1618 Ellgawen, Sweden, Barbara Rufin, she is accused of poisoning her son, is tortured and confesses to witchcraft and names several others involved, this starts a witch craze. She ends up helping Helena Rufin (Barbara's daugher) to escape the town safely. After this she vows to protect Gifted humans and takes the name of the city.

** Dormant for 200 years **

1825 - 1832 Georgia, USA, Ruth Twilliger, helps Ruth escape from slavery.

1840 - 1856 Georgia, USA, Virginia Salt, given to Virginia as a present when she is a small child. Ellgawen prolongs her death when she catches small pox but the girl dies at 17 anyway.

1858 - 1863 Savannah, Georgia, Lenora Hastings, Lenora is part of a coven (debating association still) working to prevent/end the Civil War in favor of the South. Union soldiers discover the coven and set fire to the home they are in, killing them all, includig Ellgawen.

1870 - 1887 Missouri, Sara Toole, teacher in small rural town

1890 - 1899 Missouri, Toby Nelson, young boy in asylum who is killed, despite Ellgawen's best efforts, by the doctors trying to 'cure' him of his Gift (Note: This is also something she doesn't talk about much, it pained her a great deal)

1908 - 1920 St. Louis, Missouri, Chet Rowls, Newspaper reporter for the St. Louis Post Dispatch, hung out with mobsters and flapper girls

** Dormant until present day **

I like... I'd do more then clap but they won't let me applaud you anymore and... well... you're married

I love how Smoke/Memphis gets to be in the middle and she almost seems to be winking a little... hehe...

We'll have to find a good pick for the bad guys. I'm seeing something Godfather like... Father Alvro sitting behind a desk with his white collar, a siamese cat on his lap grinning happily and a strange little girl playing on the floor infront of the desk

Where is the fun in that!?

Ohh... but back to business at hand. Smokie is staying with Rosie till she wakes up and then will wander down, will likely have all sorts of things to ask/tell Alex when she does.

I'm out of town this weekend so no postes from me till Monday.

He smiles at Marie when she asks for a cigarette. Pulling the one off his ear he slides it over to her and winks.

"Just a cigarette? I could offer you so much more..." That smooth smile slides over to her and then he pulls his eyes over to the Chief as they get their weekly breifing.

Despite the bad-boy image he keeps attentive throughout the meeting. Watching the slides, mentally taking notes. When they have finished he quips up.

"Got anything more on that victim? Name, age, occupation, family situation?"

So it's one of those... they walk up to the yellow tape, duck their heads under and when some green beat cop comes over and tells them they can't be there their superior shakes his head and says 'Let 'em in..' in a gruffy voice...?

For such a large facility... how many people work there?
Are there other branches of it across the city?
It seems to be rather secretive... what is on their shiny badges and how does the public recieve them?
