Why is it that two children of the same age and with similar interests cannot find a single thing to do together without arguing for longer than five minutes?

Merideth turns her head to look up at DM, after a flurry of writting she has been sitting staring blankly at her page for some time now.. she blinks a little as DM speaks to her.
And then starts to laugh a little, "Sojourn is lovely yes... and I've put alot of time into her, but... trust me you don't want her running anything more complicated than a green house. And for that matter you really don't want me running anything even as complicated as a green house. You know I have one plant and it only survives because it is rather hearty and I've got it in the middle of my kitchen where it is really hard to ignore. Did you see the hack job I did for the Borden Murder Case? Yes pun intended... but seriously I killed it good... let it bleed to death due to my own incompetency. Girl I just be waiting for Eol to get some time with his muse or let someone else just tell me what to do... especially in futuristic worlds, I'm a -history- major." She grins.
"Besides I've lost my muse along with dear old Eol at the moment. And what little bit I got left..." She stares at the blank page in front of her, "is trying to go into a D&D campaign, not that it's gone all that very far..." She sighs, and makes a few doodles on the page.
"You know? Maybe our muses our out having an affair... I wouldn't put it past them, flighty little things they are. I guess once the puppy love fades we'll get them back..."

I'm getting too tired to come up with something better than that... so that will have to do for now.

Well it seems rather obvious at this point that this game isn't going much further. I must appologize because truely it is my fault.
This would be the first game I have ever attempted to GM/DM/or otherwise Master in some way shape or form. And I had a cool idea and ran with it before really knowing what I was doing...
Beyond just setting up the character backgrounds I had nothing else really planned out, and due to that fact I have left you players with little to go on... and at this point I'm not certain what plot additions I need to make, nor am I currently inspired to accomplish them...
So I shall again appologize and thank you all for joining in this little expiriment of mine... and not killing me when it falied miserably... lol
I'm actually doing some research currently in how to be a decent DM and in a few months I might be putting up a call to start a D&D game, but with tons more planning than I put into this (which is why I'm saying in a few -months-).

So thank you everyone... and I'd still watch your backs, the murderer was pretty excited about their role

I was out of power for five days a few summer's ago, but did have water and gas still (and since my stove is gas I could cook on that which was great!) but still had to come up with some creative ways to cook.

I found the 'Complete Meals' by Betty Crocker were excellent. They are usually in with the Hamburger Helper in the grocery store and have everything, including meat, in the package and it's all canned so it doesn't need refridgeration and can either be cooked in the over or on a stove top... or alternatively over a fire in a cast iron pan (which I've done on camping trips before).

Which brings me to my plug for cast iron pots and pans... great for cooking on a daily basis but if you ever need to cook over a fire they work great!

Other than that my biggest advice for situations like that is to be nice to whoever it is that is in the area trying to make things better. When we had the big power outages a few years ago, it got nasty for alot of the guys... police actually had to be called in to escort the power company employees into certain areas because people were so upset and actually violent with them. But then other people were bringing them cool drinks and saying thank you... which is what we all should be doing, if we aren't out there helping out in some way ourselves.

De first pirate asks for a paper n' pen so he can write his girl a letter. So dey give it to 'im an he writes de best letter he can.
De secon' pirate asks for a cigar so he can have one last smoke, which dey give 'em an he smokes it happly.
De t'rid pirate asks fer a fork. Puzzled de give 'em one. An immediatly 'e starts poking himself o'r and o'r again wit it. Shooked de cannibals ask wat e's up to. Te which 'e responds wit a wild grin 'Te Hell wit yer canoe!'

Up front Lelain hears Quilla's request. She debates, knowing she desperatly wants to rest, and knowing how far out she has to go before she can do that, but they probably deserve whatever Quilla is going to do. In a few moments the ship pulls up to the blast doors and there she pauses it.

"Make it quick!" She shouts behind her.

St. Louis got a TON of rain and large parts of the city were flooded. Heard most of Missouri got the same treatment. I had a few inches of water around my house for about five hours yesterday morning, such a great thing to wake up to at 8am on a weekend... lol. Got some water in my basement, coming through the windows, the garage got flooded and my car got some water in the baseboards (by the time we woke up the water was too high to move the car... lol). But didn't lose anything of any value, and our basement held up better than our neighbors, no one was hurt where I was, I've heard stories in St. Louis of tree's falling on people and people getting stranded in apt's and even one report of a couple getting washed down the street the current was so rough for a while. Lots of street's closed, power out... though I got to keep mine, thank goodness.
So yeah MO got hit pretty hard, though not as hard as they are getting hit down there. My dad is signalman with the RR and he's on his way down there to help get that back up and running...
And yeah I'm sending all my good thoughts to him and everyone else down there.

Subject: Stay Focused

Lelain was still in some pain and was also still a little woozy from being unconcious even if it hadn't been long. She pinched herself to try to focus on the task at hand, the pain was not that bad, the wooziness would go away eventually and the panic that ate at the edges of her conscience had to be controlled or they would never get out of here. She took a deep breath, and thought. Had to get the ship up and running, had to get the ship out of the hanger, had to get the ship just far enough away...
The engines started to purr underneath her and she smiled a little, that K8 was a delightful little addition that was certain.
Focus, start up procedure. She leaned over, KTI ships were like her second home, and her fingers started moving over the console lighting things up, checking the status of the plane, so far everything looked good (at least concerning the condition of the ship). Moving quickly through the protocols she felt that as soon as the other two got on board that they would be ready to blast out of the hanger doors, and she knew that she only had to take the ship out to a certain distance, and then she could rest... then she could rest, but not until then...
Stay focused... fly the ship...

would require a few things to happen first. To begin with he would have to select the best coffee in the world, nothing is too good for the wonderful staff here at RDI... which means he would have to travel all over the world trying different coffee's out, learning advanced coffee making techniques, avoiding tribes of cannibals and occasionally getting laid up by bouts of Montezuma's revenge. Once the coffee has been selected he will have to go through a huge fund raising endeavor in order to buy a life time supply of it. You'll probably see Olan sitting on street corners, all over the internet, on billboards, at ball games, and perhaps even at large festivals and political gatherings selling RDI t-shirts. Once he has amassed enough funds to buy the coffee, he will need to get the coffee machine. It is highly unlikely that there is currently a machine capable of making the coffee up to RDI standards. So Olan will have to go back to school in order to get a degree in engineering so that he can create a plan to make his own ultra high quality coffee maker. Once that is done he will have to install it, hire some poor high school student at miniumum wage to run it... and then... he'll have to get all the necessary assessories to coffee: Mugs, swizzle sticks, creamers, sugar, and whatever else goes with coffee... which will also require vast amounts of research into which are best, and hopefully he will not find that the best type of creamer doesn't go with the type of coffee he selected or else the whole process will have to start over completly.
Of course by the time all of this is finally done, perfect coffee and assessories have been gathered and are being roasted in utter coffee euphoria... the staff at RDI will decide that coffee is so last year and that this year's drink is tea... and I imagine you know where this is going...
Poor Olan...

How do some people get their houses to smell so good all of the time?

Your Lightsaber is Silver.
You are not good. You are not evil. You aren't quiet sure where you fit in the galaxy. You are probably a grey jedi.

Other famous jedi with silver lightsabers:

Alema Rar
Corran Horn
Tionne Solusar

Well tis always good to have another female running around here, although to be honest there are more of us in here than I originally expected to find.
It's good that you don't like to play the 'typical' hero type, we all have the kind of characters we are good at and they work well together in the stories. And I'm with you on the character development bit. I started off with table top games and found they were too focused on fighting and not enough on role playing, so after the free form site I had been playing on for years died I finally (after several failed attempts at other sites) found a home here. It's great. Sometimes a little slow (if you notice the dates on the threads (aka a forum topic) it takes awhile between posts sometimes... but that's also kind of nice because you can have several games going on at once without getting overwhelmed.
Well I'll stop blabbering. Glad to have you on board and like Eol said, feel free to drop any of us a line if you need anything

A door marked 'Posting Games' opens and Meri waltzes out. Apparently she has conquered the cold she was dueling with. From behind her a few things slip out of the hallway and into the main room of the inn, a handful of sea monkeys, a penguin, a spray of kibble, and some moldy pizza.
Meri kicks the door closed behind her and looks over at the bar maid, "That place needs some cleaning... " she says as she cocks a thumb over her shoulder toward the door.
Then she strides into the room, propping her thumbs under the lapels of her jacket, on the left one is a shiny new silver star with '500 Club' engraved on it, it almost looks like a Marshal's star, except for the engraving.
"Well hello again gorgeous," making her way toward Lysk's table, "been camped out here the whole time huh? Did I miss anything? I see Mr. Charisma is where I left him... "
She pauses noticing Nima sitting with Lysk, "Oh... Well hello. I'm Merideth, or just Meri is fine. New around here? Well we are glad to have you. Everyone will tell you not to feed Grugg, but I'll tell you a secret, I'd look out for Lysk more than Grugg... " She grins at Nima warmly and then winks over at Lysk.
"That said... I have got some work to do! If ye don't mind I'll just sit down and join you." She grabs a chair pulls it out and plops down onto it crosslegged and digs around in the pockets of her coat. She pulls out a ledger bound in leather with the image of a leafless tree burned into the front of it, and a pencil. Flipping the ledger open to a page not already full of doodles or her unique print she bends over it and starts to write.
