I almost had to pull over when they announced it on the radio this morning I was so shocked. A sad sad day indeed. Prayers for him and his family and all of us fans who will greatly miss his wonderfully off color humor.

Topic: yet another movie thread...
Subject: Sunshine

4 stars

I really enjoyed the sci-fi Sunshine. I hadn't heard anything about it and then my husband brought it home. I thought it was going to be one of those crappy sci-fi action pacted things he so enjoys, that the writers spend more time on making scary aliens and finding fun ways to have them kill people instead of plot. But was pleasantly surprised. The premise of the movie might be a bit far off... I really know know enough about the planets and physics and such to know if sending a GIGANTIC bomb to the dying sun and having it explode as close to the core as they can will bring the sun back... but it opened up a neat movie. I liked the way the characters developed and how the greatest challenge they faced was not space aliens, or the sun, but each other. It has some intense scenes, and I really enjoyed the cinematography they enlisted when they venture onto the other ship. Caught me off guard and actually ended up rewinding the film to make sure I had seen the half second clip that I thought I saw, so that was really enjoyable.
All in all I think it has been one of the better space movies I've seen in awhile, that haven't outright been comedies...

Kudos to you Loki... another good history post. That sounds like it would be a fascinating class you just took. I've actually done more with Greek history, compared to Roman (especially Roman Republic). I'm glad to see we might have someone to go to with some Roman questions... I'll be sure to shoot you any I have

Rome... oh...
I own both seasons of HBO's Rome and LOVE them, was actually wondering just this past week if I could do a game for it, so I'm totally in, if you'll have me.
I'm so excited!! Would love to play a Pullo inspired character, he's the best. Although if Mark Antony is going to be as hot as he was in the showI might just have to have my char be gay
Not that Mark was, but he could oogle him... it might be funny... hmm... *grin*

Jessica does love you, or did... She was sitting on an airplane going to her next movie shoot when she happened upon this website via her laptop and read all of your posts, turns out she's a huge star wars fan as well. She sent an e-mail to the movie producer telling him she would not be there for the shoot and to hire someone else, as she had to go on a mission to find this Duncan man and devote her entire life to his happiness. Unfortunatly the plane crashed, and there were no survivors.

But... they say it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, so don't take it too hard Duncan.

The chicken crossed the road to try and get away from the sea monkeys. And you see it wouldn't have had to do such a thing if you hadn't caused all the flooding... hmmm...

((btw... thanks for all the flood gear Eol, so far on dry land, but with how much water is around here it is good to be prepared! ))

Topic: A Shadow Over Drasnia
Subject: Contact is Made

Cay stepped out into the coming twilight. The sound of the tavern lessened behind her as the door closed, and the sound of the streets filled her ears. It seemed to Cay that some nights the streets became more filled in the first few hours of darkness instead of emptying out, this was one of those nights. Everywhere she looked she saw some poor derelict that called Drasnia home, and in each of them for a fleeting second she thought she saw the face of one of her new companions.

They hated her, just as the rest of the world hated her. She would not be surprised if they did follow her tonight. Silently she cursed herself for not only offering up her place to do the murder, but for marking it out on a map for them. Now they knew were she stayed, she would have to keep an extra careful watch tonight, perhaps stay somewhere else, in case one of them felt it necessary to act.

The cloak was drawn closer around her as she stomped away from the Hydra’s Breath, she could still hear the voices in her head…

“Are you willing to tempt his loins?”

“I am,” Nyx said flatly, his gaze locked to Cay’s, “but what of you? Should this one’s appetites yearn for a bitter, mana-slinging carp, are you prepared to be the one that offers to dangle from his hook?” The mith’ganni leaned forward himself, moving his face even closer to the crop-eared half-blood. His eyes narrowed a bit and bored into hers, searching for the death in those dark orbs. “Never doubt, witch, that killing is more religion than occupation to me,” he breathed in a deadly whisper, “and never question the lengths to which I may go to accomplish the task.”

Nyx… the bastard elf.

"Yes yes, since you've elected yourself to be our leader, no doubt a lingering trait from your beloved human side, that sounds fine...for now. However, be warned now that I have little respect for those who, like the Empire, use their bloodline as the basis for dominance. Why don't you scamper off like a good little dog now and make yourself of some use now...

Then the twin… little respect for those who use their bloodline for dominance? They were all the same, tainted mixed blooded girls, what bloodline could Cay possibly hold over her head? And Cay had not appointed herself leader, she had simply suggested a plan that made more sense than burning up the Inn… But even if she had Spite did not seem to suggest that it should be otherwise, at least not now, the woman double talked herself. Then again good prostitutes were known for that, so it only fit.

The other twin, though… the silent one. Cay had complimented her, and the girl did not respond with even a flicker of the eyes, the girl worried her. But enough of that, she reminded herself that she had work to do, then she would worry about where she was going to stay tonight, and how she was going to handle these companions. She made her way back toward the docks, boiling over with anger with every step. The anger gave her something to focus on for the moment, but it also clouded all other thoughts and sights from her full view.

“Hey! Watch where yer going!!” A feminine voice called out suddenly and broke through the veil of anger surrounding Cay. Stopping she looked to see where the voice came from.

It was an elven girl, and by the slight outfit she wore along with the heavy makeup Cay assumed she was one of the ladies of the night around these parts. The girl had her hands on her hips and looked straight at Cay with an disapproving look. Cayrimisa didn’t even think, the dagger she had stabbed the table with was still in her hand, and in a second it was out in the open again. She held it between them and stared back at the elf with contempt.

“You watch where you are going… I’d rather not have to pay your pimp back after I killed you…”

Rolling her eyes and tossing her hair back the girl replied “Yeah right…” then took another look at Cay, at the two dark eyes that peered out from under the brim of her hat and decided that it would be best not to test it any further, stepped aside and then proceeded down the street.

Cay watched her go, and thought to herself that someday the crowds here would part in her wake in fear… but until then… she made her way to the Goblin.

(OOC: Rolled to see if she would find the girl:
Your roll results:
20 Your total roll is 23 and a mod of +3.

I’m going to assume this means she finds her… and probably means I’ve wasted my excellent roll... lol)

The familiar sign with the painted green goblin on it came into view. Cay found her way around to the back alley so she would end up at the back door of the place. Once there she knocked and when the door opened slightly and a pair of eyes looked out at her she asked, “Ovelia here?”

(Going to assume a positive answer)

“I need to speak with her…”

(Room here for conversing with the cook, and Ovelia to come down)

“Good to see you again Ovelia, so this is the hell hole your currently working? I’ll make this short and sweet, I don’t want to hold you up. Gracchus Thanald. I know he’s staying here. What do you know about him? And of course as always I’ll make it worth your while…” She smiled at Ovelia and waited for her to respond.

Sounds fair to me. I'll work on my post today and have it up tonight. For the record I'm going to have Cay go to the Goblin and look for a chamber maid. The girl has helped Cay get into rooms in the past and Cay thought she had heard she was working at the Goblin now... but this has been through the grapevine talk, so not a certainty. Which if I read the rules correctly means I need a CHA roll of 10 to make this work...
