Hey everyone, been awhile, for sure, though I keep tabs via reading many of the threads on here, a recent venture to Pax has me really wanting to be part of some serious roleplay again. Something I can do wherever in the world I happen to be given my hectic schedule. Play by post seems to be the the center of that convenience.

If anyone's up for a long time member / veteran of many roleplaying series (save 4th edition but willing to study and learn) let me know. Anxious to dive back into the fantasy and let the old cooped up imagination run wild a bit.

It's christmas. Some of us remember full well what the loss of income around the holiday's can do to impact a family.

You still got that paypal thingy people can donate too? You do so much for us all year round giving us a place to call home away from home.. Rdinn's been an.. extended family for over a decade for me.. perhaps some of us can help with the holiday hurdle.

Subject: Olson

Olson accepted the kiss and kind words, and though his facial expression did little in the way of change to show how deeply the sincerity touched him, within he was swelling with emotions, both good and bad. "Let me tend to my family, and I shall return."

This a nod of his head he turned and headed towards where the small ramshackle graveyard of follower's had been assembled near the eastern wall. Making his way to his wife and daughter's markers, little more than stones with their names carved into them, he took to his knees, and he spoke awhile.

"Elsa, my heart, these last years have been hard, and I have been so lost without you to gently nudge me in the right direction. I've... I've done some horrible things, things I'm not proud of, things... things I never would have done were you and Faith still with me. But you're not with me, and this is the hell on earth I've been left with. I've done what was necessary to survive, and I've tried to follow you and Nicole's teachings. I've done what I can to make a difference in this shit-hole of a wasteland. But I've run out of ideas, out of goals. The NCR, for every bastard I've killed has a dozen more, and I know... I know unnecessary bloodshed is not what would have you proud in me. So I've returned home. I need a new direction, for each time I close my eyes my love, the desire to join you and Faith grows stronger and stronger in my mind. I need your love, your guidance.. one last time..."

Olsen sits on bent knee with his fingers tracing gently over the stones which represent his fallen family, and faith.

(Dunno if Celtia you wanna add anything here, if so great if not... below is moving on)

**After awhile, Olson blinked the tears away from his eyes and rose to his feet brushing off his knees. "Aye, you're right my love. We are only given the doors which open and close, it falls upon us to decide how to receive such impasse's and opportunities. I'll go see Julie, perhaps I can do one last good thing on this earth before I join you and Faith. Keep a light on my sweet. Let Faith know that I love her dearly... and Daddy will be home soon."\
With that Olson headed back to find Julie wherever she was. Though his cheeks were puffy and his eyes red, he was stoic and professional as ever. "I'm ready" was all he said.

"Olsen! It's so good to see you, to have you back." Julie cried, flashing the older Follower a smile, "God Bless you for coming back. I think I know why you're back, but I'm also hopeful that you'll stay for awhile. There's not many long-term Followers here among the guards, most are more recently hired. So there's not many I trust enough, or trust to take care of themself well enough, to send them around Freeside. As you've just seen, things aren't exactly...stable.

Olsen couldn't help but let a smirk creep to the corners of his chapped lips. It had been some while since he had been welcomed so openly, and even longer since it had been by a woman. "Aye, I've come to pay my respects Julie, but yes, it does look like you've had your hands full; and I just happen to be out of direction for the time. If it benefits the cause to have this crotchety ol guard back, by all means add me to the roster, there looks to be much work to be done ma'am."

Not wanting to be rude and interrupt the taller blonde man who talked to Markus, but glad that Julie was still as alive, well and feisty as ever, as her eyes met with his own, he merely nodded a curt nod with a simple "Good to see you again ma'am"

Topic: Real Steel
Subject: Real Steel

Alright I haven't seen a review posted about this one here yet, so I'll give it a go.

How would I describe Real Steel in 3 words? Pure Epic Fun! Sure, it's the classic underdog story, but who hasn't at some point had a love for robots? be it from "Danger, Danger Will Robinson", to Transformers, to Wall-e. Couple that with some great special effects, and a touching story of family, redemption and a second shot at life, love and the whole pg rated panorama, and you've got the makings of two hours and five minutes of entertainment.

Hugh Jackman for me was wonderful, from cocky-risk it all (and lose a lot) smart ass to sincere unexpected father, sort of a Rocky Balboa after the fame died down, and fallen on desperate times.

Dakota Goyo, his 11 yr old son in the movie, though I don't recall seeing him in anything else (aside a very brief look I'm Thor as a child) works the screen like a veteran, his body language and attitude reminiscent of the father he barely knows, his charm while growing attached to his own repaired robot Atom, and dancing upon the screen wins over the crowds both on screen and off. (At one point the entire theatre was practically bouncing and dancing from there seats along with Max (dakota Goyo) and Atom.

There is a small amount of real life violence, mostly later in the movie, but I can let that slide when it's a father trying to protect his son/himself from the misdeeds of past mistakes catching up with him (gambling, loansharks etc) With if I'm correctly remembering only two less than pristine words thrown in. One near the beginning (oh sh**) and one near the end comparing Zeus to a female dog.

All in all it was a very enjoyable movie, I'd say children 8 and up if parents find them mature, teenagers and adults for certain will enjoy the clash of steel on steel coupled with hearts of gold and the building of strong family ties and relationships at its core.

One of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a very long time. And considering I went to see it with no previous knowledge about it other than "Dude it's like battle bot boxing 2012 style" (yeah not the most descriptive imagery) It was fantastic.

8/10 stars for me!

Olson didn't say much as he helped the wounded Freesider to his feet, letting him put his weight on Olson to stand / walk better. As the mechanic's clad stranger approached and offered to take some of the wounded man's weight; Olson knew he had been denied entry earlier, but for some reason didn't mind seeing where this stranger's perseverance would take him. Besides, the sniper's were still atop the towers, and another dozen guards awaited on the inside of the gate.

"Fine" was all Olson said as they supported the Freesider between them and helped him into the compound.

Olson looked at the Freesider's and raised a brow.

"Look, I just arrived here myself, been off for quite awhile now. Either way there's two ways I see this going down. First, you put that pig sticker away and let me treat you and your friend, and we can talk about what you believe to be going on once you're feeling a bit better, or two, your buddy over there bleeds out and you try to carry him outta here on that bum-leg you're sporting and no-one's even given the chance to perhaps give a damn about your convoluted proclamations."

Olson took one step forward, his visage stern.

"So, what's it gonna be. Spare what caps and weapons you have for contribution to your aid and I'll do my best to get you two back in shape? Or die in this god-forsaken place and let the vulture's man and beast alike pick their fill from your sun bleached irradiated bones."

Olson smirked an unmistakable grin as he patted Elsa once more, slinging her over his shoulder and setting her once more into the position he took comfort in her being. At his back, and watching his rear. As he strolled back out of the gate he approached the two wounded Freesiders; stopping about 10 feet away, one hand resting on Faith, the other on his doctor's bag.

"Looks like you two boys could use some medical assistance. As luck would have it I happen to know a doctor. If you've got the caps to make a kindly donation to the Followers Cause, I'd be more than happy to see you receive medical treatment right away."

Olson took in the remnants of the once much larger courtyard of the Old Fort. His eyes fell upon the familiar form of Julie Farkas as she spoke to some good-natured sod, who turned and made his way past him smile wide and parcel in hand. Olson had thought about approaching Julie, even as she spoke to the other Follower-guard, likely about the mechanic outfit clad stranger out front when a call from behind him roused his attention.

If a guard had found the need to yell out his standard greeting / protocol that loud, it only meant there was either a larger group than he alone could process, or he suspected trouble.

Olson unslung Elsa from his back, his weathered hands caressing the cool steel as he traced it from barrel plug to custom grip. "Perhaps Nicole shall have to wait but a little longer my love" He said as he patted the nameplate lovingly.

Turning around, he moved back towards the gate he had entered, using the corner of the gate/wall as cover and to simply take stock of those approaching.

(Not utilizing Rapid Trigger, simply aiming and adjusting, waiting to see what happens. First Freesider to attempt a violent action against the guard, or Markas, and Olson will Target their leg (if it's a melee weapon) (or their shoulder area if they are holding a firearm. If no clear-non-lethal shot can be made on a firearm wielding Freesider, Olson will go for a head/kill shot though he's trying not to kill)

Olson nodded towards the guard that bid him pass. He made his way into the compound of the Old Mormon Fort, anxious to see what would come from his return.

As Olson approached the front guards of the Old Fort, he noticed the man in the "Mechanics" Uniform that Rotface had kindly warned him about. His hand resting within his coat, firmly atop the grip of Faith, as was his typical doctoral way of walking; he proceeded towards the guards just as the man said something in Latin and walked away towards a nearby wall. As a Follower Olson had been educated in what shreds of old Language the FoA had access too. It was apparent the stranger was looking for someone.. Perhaps an old brother in arms, or a fellow soldier. It seemed the guards weren't about to let him pass however.

Olson approached the fellow guards, and nodded in respect. "Good Morning brothers. It's been awhile, but I've returned to pay my respects to my family, the teachings of Nicole, perhaps catch up with current events. "
