It's a standard or move equivalent action.. I could alwaysactivate just before combat. I mean it's not like it has to be Activate move and attack in one round, but more of a "look it's the enemy" activate true strike. initiatives begin, then take one's turn.

Topic: The Chakran Portal - Q/A
Subject: CAster shield is in the dmg...

truestrikeclasp was made using the creating magic items table in the DMg under no space limitationruling. Ie it doesn't takeup an item slot.

And activating it would be like speaking a command word, no AoO the same as activating any other ability, such as the dimension door ability of the cape of the monteback (alsoin the DMG and used as the premise for command wordmagic item creation)
Activating it would use up my 1swift/action per round I'm thinking.

Caster’s Shield: This +1 light wooden shield has a small leather strip on the back on which a spellcaster can scribe a single spell as on a scroll. A spell so scribed has only half the base raw material cost. Experience point and component costs remain the same. The strip cannot accommodate spells of higher than 3rd level. The strip is reusable.

A random caster ’s shield has a 50% chance of having a single medium scroll spell on it. The spell is divine (01–80 on d%) or arcane (81–100).

A caster’s shield has a 5% arcane spell failure chance.

Moderate abjuration; CL 6th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Scribe Scroll, creator must be at least 6th level; Price 3,153 gp (plus the value of the scroll spell if one is currently scribed); Cost 1,653 gp + 120 XP.

Unearthed Arcana Craft Points will be used this time round, for item creation on the go as it were.

1/day True Strike Clasp - 720 gold. CL1xSL1xCommand Word 1800 /times/day 5(divided by uses) =360gp x 2 for no space limitation.

2 x scrolls of invisibility (150gp each)

2 x potions Cure Moderate wounds (300gp each)

Caster's Shield (3153 gp) +1 light wooden shield allows 1 spell of up to 3rd level to be cast into it.
(would like haste cast within the shield if possible (750gp)

That will work for now. Unsure how to post going about looking for this stuff without your being able to reply.

realizing i've got like 7000 gold of personal wealth to spend, i think i'll look into getting a new shield or perhaps a couple more scrolls to suppliment my repetoire. Will post my intents in the in-game post, so you have something to go by.

I prefer not to mix in Psionics, though I have in the past, mouse, the blind psion was a fun npc, but mixing psionics and magic made my head hurt in large scale scenarios lol.

If you're bent on Psionics, I'll try and dig up my expanded psionics handbook and work around you.

Topic: Champions of Nomachron: Return to Arms
Subject: NPC's of note

It should be mentioned that many NPC's played an influencial roll in the growth of Nomachron. I'll try and list some of the major ones here.

King Aradan Trice IX (9th)
Descendant of the original founder of Formidia (now known as Trice) it was under his ruling that war came. The Council of Six answered to him, and it was he who ordered the birth of The Order of the Scarlet Rose the organization of Pc's that nswered only to him and the Council, giving them effectively powers of Marshal Law wherever they travelled under authority of the king.

King Kaelyn Alexander Bluestone, of the Island Nation of Aleria
Originally a member of the Pc's starting party, he was a noble spirited street rat who idolized Atharam (Kaelyn was the youngest of the party at only 15 years of age)and joined the scouting party as he had nothing holding him to the life he led. As an orhpan who'se parents had both been killed in a horrible plague when he was just an infant, Kaelyn was the curious addition to the group, always questioning things, and touching things (much like abu from aladdin) even when warned against it. It would later be discovered that Kaelyn was the sole heir to the Island Kingdom of Aleria, the enchanted rapier he had carried since birth (well possessed) a royal treasure, and it's power's revealed in the presence of Vladimir (mentioned above) his evil Step-Uncle who had ventured down the path of vampirism, turning the kingdom into a home for his undead after having thought he'd successfully murdered the entire Royal Line.

King Kaelyn is now an Ally of Trice and Founder of the 'Free Nations' a collaboration of any nation, community or individual that values freedom and justice above all.

*Lord Mortricus -Archmage of Trice and head of the Counsil of Six. Blind but far from sightless, the Archmage was the source of magical power for trice, along with his pupils within the Mystic Spire, a part of his Arcane consortium. Lord Mortricus seemed well over 100 years old, and human, and held soverignty over anything magical. He would outfit the Order of the Scarlet Rose and provide them with key information before they set out upon their missions.

*Donia Moonflower. Pupil of Lord Mortricus, member of the Arcane Consortium, and beginning member in the Pc's party. A Sorceress of some skill, she provided the Arcane magical assistance to the party (as we lacked a pc to do so)

*Arys LotusBane-Leader of the Trician Outer Guard and member of the Counsel of Six. Arys was the eyes and ears of the Council, and of Trice beyond it's borders. She led a contingent of Rangers and Scouts, and information was her trade. She befriended the Pc's and wanted nothing more to join them as they left Trice in search of allies, but her duties kept her homeward bound.

**Acatia Pathwalker -Mirrorwood Druid and First Circle member of the Order of Twilight. Friend of the Pc's particularly Paorn (who also followed Denev) the druid aided the Pc's on numerous occasions, from reincarnating Atharam's horse, to defying the Order's wishes and leading Paorn and Tai-Laan to a sacred temple where they could bequeath the aid of elder elemental's to join Trice's fight.

Topic: Champions of Nomachron: Return to Arms
Subject: Answers to Questions aplenty:

Can you give me a background as to the story line so far? I tried to look this game up but didn't find it. What's happened so far (or, at least, most recently)?

The game in its inception began as the Pc's scouting to the southern border in response to rumors that a force was mustering their, along with a strange disease. It was a simple recon mission, it however turned into the beginning of a massive confrontation between the kingdom of Trice-it's to be made allies of the Mirrorwood and Aleria vs the southern Kingdom of Ravenswood (Under the gypsie queen known as the Emerald Lady) and the combined hordes across the continent. The last part of the game ended with the Heroes returning home to Trice, with new allies in tow, preparing to meet the enemy head on.

What do you imagine the next part of the story looking like? What's the premise for this next little adventure? How does the party know each other? Where do they meet? Who is calling them together? And for what purpose?

While jozan has already said, Nomachron was comprised of 4 different subplots which all intermingled (the choices by one party influenced the others) and all the parties were to meet up for the large battle scene (where we unfortunately ended off last time) This time however, There will only be one or two parties (possibly 4 and 4 if all 8 players pull through) and the game will commence 3 years into the war. The player's will all know each other through comraderie upon the battlefield, or through the fight for survival (though that doesn't necessarily mean everyone has to be goody-two shoes) (The thief might had picked the mage's pockets to 'borrow' a wand in the heat of battle, the cleric of Chardun may have blessed the follower of Corean knowing in battle the more men standing on your side the better, no matter their faith. This game will start towards the end of the war, and i'll tell you now that the outcome was not in Trice's or the united allies of the 'Free Nations' best interest.
This time round will begin on a much darker note, where player cooperation will be paramount in your survival. Once I have a list of player concepts I can better formulate how everyone knows each other.

Posting requirements? Was is once/ week? More often? When do you update the game?
**Posting requirements is roughly 1/week. With a large player base sometimes it takes a little longer, but no later than 1/2 weeks as i'll move the game ahead withouth those who've not posted. Typically everyone keeps it moving at a 1/week pace (and I'll get the odd q/a or pm stating "I can't post but I'd like this to happen" and I'll make due.)

Is it possible to get a brief description of the characters confirmed in the game already? Personality, weapons/ tactics commonly used, exploits/ heroic deeds thus far?

**Atharam Marquel- Holy Warrior (paladin) of Corean was the undeniable leader of the party of 'do-gooders' in games past. Atop his Magical Warhorse Raykel he was a beacon of hope and diligence to all who could see his standard (which at one point was his cape tied to his lance hefted high amidst a battle to help rally the troops) Unwavering in his faith and loyalty to Corean and his friends, he would willingly throw himself upon a stake for a friend (not because he was lawful stupid *cough* i mean good) but because he knew instinctively that his companions would be there to pull him from it, bind his wounds and fight along side him once more. Atharam Led a contingent of npc's into the war, singlehandely skewered an orcish champion in single combat, and with his prized weapon flametongue (magical longsword) set afire anything that would stand in justice's way. (Such as Vladimir, the would be vampiric emporoer of Aleria until Atharam and his party felled him and rethroned the rightful heir, Kaelyn Alexander Bluestone as newfound king)

On the other hand, Tai-Laan, the party's monk, set Atharam's heart afire as the two bonded over years worth of roleplaying and surviving many a peril at each other's side. When last we gamed, Tai-laan had unhappily gone ahead to Trice while Atharam finished training his troops, Atharam arriving days later ready to meet up with his love once more.... What ever will become of her? (Player's not returning)(Should be noted Tek, Atharam's player once had to leave the inn for about 4 months, and in a glorious return posted a 63 page post that the inn couldn't even handle in a single entry lol)

Paorn Earthborer is a cleric of Denev, a level headed and somewhat conflicted dwarf emotionally, as he could switch from jovial to dour in an instant it seemed. He too cared deeply for his party members, particularly it seemed the Sorceress Donia Moonflower, whose racial heritage always laid in mystery somewhere between human or elven. The two had bonded, not in a romantic sense, but in a spiritual one based on their different approaches to magic. Arcane and divine worked in harmony as the two proved a capable pair in combat.
Paorn favoured a magical warhammer of Denev, and also an enchanted rapier he learned how to wield from Kaelyn while they traveled together.

**Taklinn the Arctic Dwarf. Though in a separate party from the other's listed above, The dwarvish fighter held his own in the barren and frozen tundra of the northern realm. Seperated from Trician land by a range of mountains known as the Nabaresh, Taklinn found himself travelling with a monk named Gideon, of the Wolf tribe of norsemen. As they travelled south, both searching for meaning to their lives, they came across an orcish encampment laying seige to the dwarve's of the Nabaresh (Trice's allies and reinforcements) The two of them infiltrated the camp --sometimes through stealth, othertimes through brute force --- and that's where they had left off.
Taklinn favored his self forged dwarven war axe
Those are the three players I know of that are returning. Gideon asmentioned above isplayed by vesper and may return as well though I'm not sure yet. As other players of the past (such as Grugg perhaps) make possible returns I'll update on their influence to the game.

that YeOlde want's to try something else. Paladin's as you know are far from the easier to roleplay properly, and as you also know, one of my favourite classes to try and mess with lol.

If you want the Mithril Knight, it's yours by seniority. If YeOlde also want's it, and can provide a decent background idea for the character, given how I've chosen to start this run of the game, he may also choose to be one.

Yes Tek, you may apply for the Mithril Knight PrC. I'll even allow you to fix your skill allotment to meet the class req's. If you'd like you can also exchange Templar levels for Mithril knight levels if you want, a reward for unwavering loyalty to Corean...and me That would give you 4 levels of Mithril knight, only one more till the PrC's signiture feature, the Mithril Sword.
