It had truly been some time since the pair of Mourn Eveningfall and Aramil Starsong had enjoyed a decent meal. The hard tack and dried rations they had primarily been living of off while traveling were nutritious enough to sustain them, but lacked any form of oh what was the word... oh yes; taste.

Now that they were here, in the quaint and aptly named ‘Tavern, the food placed before the companions seemed heavenly. Though it was simple fare, to the dried neglected palettes of the hungry travelers, it was a meal fit for a king.

As Aramil and Mourn sampled the fare, Aramil couldn’t help but smirk as Brendalla jumped up to claim her supper; their diminutive friend was always entertaining to the elves.

As the druid asked about their plans regarding the missing children, Mourn nodded quietly as he took a bite of his corn, plucking it from the cob with cutlery. Aramil looked at Mourn and giggled. “So prim and proper, it’s corn not some scroll you need to tenderly examine. Dig in!”

Mourn shook his head and placed his tools of eating down aside his plate. “A-hem, As for the children, yes, we should look into the matter at least, we are here after all. Hopefully someone here will be kind enough to give us more details as to where the kids might be.” With that Mourn set back to eating in his explorative fashion, slowly picking the kernels away from the cob, and enjoying each bite in silent admiration.

Post started, but Katriana is a silent character predominantly, and she's not going to barge into a forigen temple and demand services right off the bat. I'll need someone else to start discussing the cargo delivery and such before I can post.

thanks.

Spear and shield in hand, the group of seven was anxious to be moving on. Two more doors awaited them down the hallway, and as they neared the next door, they could see the end of the corridor was filled in by a pile of rubble, as though the ceiling had collapsed some time before. Falling back into the previous marching order, they approached the first door on the left. It was a solid looking wooden door with iron bands supporting it. It should be noted that the iron bands here don’t seem nearly as old as the original complex.

Placing their ears to the door the companions whisper amongst themselves. They discussed the possible hearing of footsteps on the other side, along with a heavy breathing, and the rattling of chains. Moonshadow however was not so subtle, and growled low and deep as a familiar scent caught in his nostrils. He began pawing at the door, and barked loudly at having located the scent he was asked to track. Falling back into the marching order Moonshadow sat there wagging its tail thinking it had done a good deed, but its maw was still ready for anything to come.

At Moonshadow’s bark came the sound of a woman’s wail, and in response a heavy ‘smack’ which resulted in a gasp of pain, and then silence.

Here's how I'd 'like' to do party treasure.

Each member of the team is entitled to a 'share' of the treasure obviously. Each item found of value, needs to be given a cash vaue once appraised, and those who want to claim said items (this is particularly meant for magical items and such) half that item's value should come out of that member's share. (Why pay what it would cost to purchase it when it's found? gotta save some money somehow right?)

For example.

4 adventurers finish slaying an ogre, and in the back of the cave find a treasure chest containing 2,000gp and a +1 longsword (which we know to be worth 2,000gp in it's own right accordng to the DMG)

Originally, the four members would each gain 500 GP. (2000 / 4) however, since bob wants the longsword, (worth 1,000 to him) he gives up his 500 gp share to the other three, (giving them 666 gp each with some change left over) He must also cough up the remaining 500 gold from his own purse, or future treasure (like a running tab) in order for that +1 sword to be officially 'his'.

~~~~~
The party swapping items and using them for the graeter good of the party is a wonderful thing, but when players eventually start wanting to claim items specifically for themselves, (which is expected) I think this is the fairest way to go about it.
If more than one person wants the item, it goes to auction. with the player willing to put the most into the pot (thus benefitting everyone else) winning the item.
Thoughts?
Realizing once more it will take two hands, Loriel sets the shield down, and yanks on the spear. It grinds a little against the stone hands wielding it, but comes free after a second tug. Everyone is on edge that the room will somehow retaliate against the thievery, but are surpised to find nothing so much as whispers to hint of foul play.
The spear is warm to the touch, and the gemstones sparkle in the light of the spear tip. The gemstones are red, similar to... or perhaps actually garnet.
Fastening the rope around the spear haft, Loriel steps back and tries to yank the spear out of the horseman's hand. However the angle of the spear, sitting i his 'O' grip on the spear won't allow the spear to be pulled out. One would have to pull it forward on an angle equal to the incline of the spear to release it.
Personal wealth has been added. Each time a leg of an adventure, encounter or otherwise is completed. and you are once more reunited with Bart I will automatically split all money found and add it to the personal wealth of everyone, leaving the 'party wealth currency section' as Bart's share. (remember he's already stated he'll risk everything for this mission, so his share will be spent on party supplies and lodgings)
For now though, items picked up will stay on personal character sheets. such as Linnix's items, Aelistae's backpack and armor, and Hopefully Artanis' gold when she posts..)
(Again, once reunited a simple post or q/a mention of putting stuff in party treasure will let me divvy it up.. )
(If linnix for example, decides she wants to keep the money found on the dead soldier, then just don't mention putting it in party treasure and there it will stay nice and safe on your character. We're all experienced rp'ers enough to know characters act differently and not hold it against them personally especially when one doesn't know about it in game.)
The shield is mounted snuggly in the stone centaur's grip. Realizing she cannot remove it with one hand, Loriel sheathe's her longsword and uses both hands to try and pry the shield free.
With a little finesse she manages to slip the shield from the stone hand holding it. The centaur remains in silent vigilance, his hands now held over his head in a deperate attempt to block the oncoming spear of the horse headed man.
Standing there, giving the shield a look over, the shield is incredibly light, and the central 8/10ths of the shield is a mirrors finish. Small pieces of quartz are surrounding the central shield. 8 in total. On the back of the shield is an inscription, also in a language none seems to understand.
Subject: Party Treasure:
I've gotten a couple questions in regard to party treasure, and in response I figure I'll do the following.
Look for an updated 'personal wealth' section in the main treasure post. Where I'll list each individual's personal wealth in currency only. (gems art and othe vaulables will be on the character sheet.
This way, when back with Bart and such, I'll divy up the currency as fair as possible (with bart always taking the lowest share when uneven numbers come up)
Topic: Forgotten Realms: The Unsung Heroes
Subject: Update
The companions had decided to generally take a peek in all rooms come across, then decide if the venture is worth a more in depth look.
Moving down the hallway to the first door on the left, Artanis gives the iron handle a gentle push, and the door creaks on ancient hinges as it swings open revealing what lay beyond. The room itself is fairly small, only 10’ x 10’ in size. The walls are bare, and the room is filled with barrels, some stacked two or three high, others sitting alone. The room now opened lets a smell of spoiled foodstuffs and mould escape into the hallway.
The door on the right, Xaris pushes open with some effort. Rust from years of moisture has set in, and as the door is opened, it lets out a grinding wail as the metal scrapes against itself, and the swollen wood of the door is forced against the frame. Stopping for a moment and listening for any indication that some foul creature may have been alerted to the noise, Xaris breathes a sigh of relief when nothing comes bounding down the hallway ready for battle.
Peering into the room, another 10’ x 10’ square room meets his gaze. This room is empty save for a stone statue set against the center of the back wall. It depicts a Horse headed humanoid rising to strike down a centaur; the elaborate statue fills the back wall. The Horse headed man, holds a gleaming spear, which even in the dim light of the room sparkles. The shaft is encrusted with small gemstones, and the spear point shines with an orange glow, as though it were still in the fires of the forge in which it was made. The centaur, has a shield raised above its head, and the shield too is of perfect quality compared to the aged and weathered stone statue bearing it, what with its gemstones ringing the outside edge, and polished mirror finish. It almost appears ornamental.
Along the base of the statue is an inscription written in ancient an ancient dialect which none of you seem to understand.
I have the aith's and pantheon's book, so feel free to try and level towards any Prestige class therein. I think I have an idea of what you're going for, but let me know just i case.
"Option 3"
Alright, I'll give a run down as to rooms -at-a-glance. For the hallway you're in for example, I'll have you guys open two doors to start, and see what you wanna do.
Loot:
Splitting it up is entierly your decision!
Potions as a rule:
Anyone with the brew potion feat can identify potions with a successful spellcraft check. Sample sipping will garner a more desriptive flavor of the potions.. :Ie, Aelistae sis the blue potion, finding it bittersweet and leaving a tangy aftertaste. It smells vaguely of pine."
While that may not mean anything, should it be identified, it may help should you find future copies of the potion, or it could possibly lead you astray rusting your senses like that
'Identify spell on potions:
For spending 100gp (pearl) plus an hour of time identifying, I've always ruled that when it comes to potions specificaly, I roll a D4+1/2CL's and that's how many potions are identified with a single casting. (In the case of the scroll, that's 1d4+2.)
...
Hope that helps!
Now onto the update
I thank you for the Blessed Weapon spell.
The Transfer spell would be ideal for transfering a cure ight wounds, a lame blade, or even now, a Blessed weapon spell to another party member. (seeing they are all level 1 or 2 spells.) At the trade off of losing a third level spell, it helps with a little more flexibility.
Adventure.
You know Emmy's stand on the matter.
Thondrek knew from the tip of his spine to the wiry hairs of his beard that this was no going to be an easy venture, and as soon as the willow shot forth to ensnare Geim, The Duskblade was ready with a counter-offensive. His fiery bolt struck true, but seemed not to affect the branches which lashed around Geim pulling the air from the Loremasters lungs.
"Crap" was all he said, and in common no less so surprised was the Khord. To make matters worse, The old lizard they had thought to have felled, along with another healthier one had appeared, outflanking the group, leaving little hope of escape what with Wulf and Aluwego screaming in pain behind them, as though a thousand Orcish war drums beat within their heads.
Knowing that the Lizards would likely ensnare them in a field of silence, Thondrek immediately activated the command word for his Moon Blade (swift action), the enchanted weapon designed to deal with those afflicted by curses of undead and lycanthropy. Perhaps a boon this would prove on these accursed lizards, for the moonblade also held a secondary function, the ability to scramble magic, and he hoped it would help prevent the lizards from using their silence fields.
While speech was still an option he yelled. "Alyssia, fry the healthy one, disrupt its casting and sever its head or set it to the torch!"
As he spoke the heavy footfalls of the Khord were already moving towards the wounded Lizard, slashing his enchanted blade at the creature hoping to fell him before he could scream. He hated the thought of leaving Geim in the position he was in, but there were others who could sever the branches with their enchanted weapons and fighting skills, his role was to subdue the beasts that would prevent their casting, and more important, healing.
(Thondrek is taking a charge action against the wounded lizard -only way to reach him in one round and attacking with the moon blade hoping to deal enough damage or disrupt his useage of spell like abilities.
On that note, how long as it been since I've gotten the first post in... or a post of this length.. wooo for renewed vigor on the creativity scale... Go team!)
"I'll not be leavin a fellow Khord ta brave the likes of an acursed tree alone;" Thondrek says as he takes a step up beside the turtle shelled Geim.
"He pulls forth a small bead from his necklace, keeping it in his free hand. May this aid in the cleansing of this abomination."
"Geim, Khorox shall see us through this, and when it's done, we'll share a pint and laugh at the visions of you which will haunt our dreams longer than this tree ever did Har har!"
Thondrek will similarily fashion wide based shoes like Geim, but will not mount anything to his head.
"Whenever you're ready, I'll cover you."
(Thondrek will cover Geim with a Fire Bolt spell, and then speak the command word to activate his moon blade.)
