Background:
Linnix is above-average looking and has cultivated an ability to charm, so that she is not readily seen as a threat. Strength is not her forte, and she has trained diligently to become adept at using light ranged weapons. Her favourite is the longbow. She will only enter into melee no other option is readily available. But she has learned to use her hand crossbow and thrown daggers effectively even then (Precise Shot Feat).

She has honed a few of her non-combative skills to nearly an art form: namely to stay out of sight when the situation calls for it, as well as lock picking. Her "standard" thieving skills are also as precise as she has been able to make them. At least, up till now. On the way to follow a different path of life, there may be other things that change about Linnix before the journey's end.

She is driving a cart now more because she's grown accustomed to it than for any other reason. She's even grown a bit attached to Tock, the horse that pulls the cart.

Upon her meeting Aelistae, Linnix has grown and developed into a more benevolent person. Where this path will take her, she's not very certain, but she intends to follow Caera's steps before her, as well as Aelistae, her new sister.

Appearance:
Linnix is a pretty, fair-skinned blonde. She is unscarred, supple, trim and toned, and likes to wear light make up (usually just eye-shadow and lipstick). She is attractive in spite of the uneven (and rather hasty) cut of her usually-long hair to about shoulder length, although she is letting it grow longer now. Her clothing is light and dark browns and is in worn condition, having survived a number of battles.

* ‘Envenomed’ quality grants +2 to saves vs. poisons, and allows for the activation of a Poison spell once per day, cast as a ninth level caster. It equates to a +2 bonus to a suit of armour.

Dimension Stride Boots: Grants +2 competence bonus to Jump checks. In addition, the boots have 5 charges which are renewed each day at dawn. Spending 1 or more charge allows you to teleport a short distance (with no charge of error). The wearer must have line of sight and line of effect to the destination. The boots can’t be used to teleport the wearer into a space occupied by another creature, nor into a solid object. The wearer can bring along objects up to her maximum load, but no other creatures can be brought. 1 charge – teleport 20 feet; 2 charges – 40 feet; 3 charges – 60 feet.

Ironward Diamond (least): Grants damage reduction 1/-. Once the gem has prevented 10 points of damage, it becomes inert until the following day.

Crystal of Return (least): The weapon to which it is attached can be drawn as a free action.


Appearance

Drow females are bred to be beautiful and strong, and Aelistae D’Vrann is no different. Wide, nocturnal eyes are framed below narrow tufts of stark white hair. And the angular beauty of her face tapers to lush, dark-red lips. But she is not completely like others of her race. Her eyes are violet, and her long hair (which is tied back) is died a silvery colour. More than that, however, her face does not contain the same malice and ill-intent that most drow possess.

Aelistae has a slim dancer’s physique, honed from all the hours she has spent in worship to Eilistraee. When expecting battle she wears form-fitting black leathers underneath a fine coat of mithril armour, and a long, hooded cloak for those times when the glare of the Sun is too bright. With the long two-handed sword and longbow that she carries, she would appear indistinguishable from any other drow warrior. The only exception is that she wears a silver brooch depicting a naked drow female dancing before a full moon (the holy symbol of Eilistraee).

When relaxing, or in private, Aelistae would prefer to wander around free of all clothes if she could. In respect of the modesty of other races, though, she often wears a silvery, diaphanous gown.

Highsun, 8th of Ches: Darromar; Tethyr

The once great land of Tethyr has recently emerged from a decades long civil war which left hundreds of thousands of people dead with two new monarchs. Queen-Monarch Zaranda Star Rhindaun and King Haedrak III have risen from being long forgotten scions of once lost noble lines and been placed on the throne. It is through their love of the lands and its people that they make motions to revitalize Tethyr and see it prosper once more. Seated now in the new capital city of Darromar, the populous is in a fluster as news of the Queen’s newest prospect reaches their ears. Proclamations and propaganda flood the streets, and the taverns and common rooms are abuzz with talk of adventure, danger, wealth, status and more.

Throughout the city are flyers and posters of interest regarding the Queens newest undertaking. Easily found anywhere, they read the following.

Citizens of Tethyr, for years we have fought to regain our lands from meddlers, foreigners, and sadly ourselves. With the blood, sweat and tears of our people we have overcome many of those obstacles, and even now we see comforts and prosperity once thought forever lost. However, outside our walls still lies an untamed countryside, and beyond that, foreign interests which seek to impede our progress or covet the land so recently and with steep price won by the lives of our countrymen.

So, to repay those of you, our countrymen and women of Tethyr, I offer both a challenge, and a chance, to rise above ones current standings, for as we all know, land equals status. And land, is what is up for those brave enough to take the opportunity presented.

To the Northwest, nestled between the forks of the River Sulduskoon and under the shadows of the Starspire lies a keep. Abandoned long ago at the outset of war, it has since been overrun from all accounts by goblins and their ilk. Once an important halfway point for those forced off the Trade Way and through the Wealdath, as well as a common ground for the elvish emmissaries who once frequented the civil lands regularly.

The task at hand my people, is to clear the keep and it’s surrounding lands of all dangers, that it may once again serve it’s purposes as both a defensive structure, and respite for travelers. This task is not to be taken lightly, and those unprepared or inexperienced should not risk what they do have for false hopes of grandeur. However, to those who clear the keep in the name of the Monarchy, the title of Lord / Lady will be appointed, and all the responsibility’s and benefits of noble standing shall be bestowed as well, along with a purse of 200 gold pieces to each member of the team which successfully clears the dangers from the keep.

For those interested, please arrive at the Darromar central courtyard at sunrise the 9th of Ches, where teams may be assembled under the leadership of one of four different sponsors.

Aldaris looked over the strange artifact before him, running a pale hand over the ancient surface of a long since dormant relic. "Vaati," Aldaris said out loud to no-one in particular. Walking around the broken artifact and returning to look once more at the glyph carved delicately upon its surface, Aldaris turned and regarded his companions. "If my basis of thinking is correct, this was once an object of teleportation, much like Allustan's mirror. While this one has long since been broken and innert, the language seems a precursor to Auran, the meaning 'Wind Duke', would certainly lend credence that we're in the right place."

Aldaris moved back through the companions and stood in the middle of the intersection. "The wolves have claimed this place as their den, and yet they do not defend it from intruders like normal pack animals I've encountered. I would see where they have made off too, for perhaps they are in league with some more dominable force. If that's the case, then our progression through these tunnels will be wrought with more peril than we anticipated.

Commanding Jeeve's to take point, Aldaris follows his companion over to where the wolves had headed, the armed and prepared warrior butler Jeeves ready for anything that may leap out from the shadows with his unnatural vision.

That leaves one more space for a character to join this varied and intrepid group.

Gonna work on opening post today, may put it up early to allow for some initial contact / conversation.

Aldaris and Jeeve's nodded a silent acceptance to Aurea when other's had deigned to allow her to accompany them on their journey. Though he had not heard of another from Allustan, Aldaris would be mindful of the newcomer and see what value she may hold. As the group moved on and investigated behind where the strange woman once sat, they came across the remnants of some arcane apparatus. Aldaris stepped forward, his curiosity motivating his response. He moved before the device, and wracked his mind over what it might have been for, going over the object while trying to translate the glyph or identify any markers of note to which to categorize the object.

Knowledge: Arcane: 16/d20 + 10/skill+int = 26/total

Jozan, maybe seeing everyone elses concerns you'd like to play something else, something not immediately confrontational...

Savaar or Wolven from nomachron remember them? both are different non evil non standard humanoid races...

If I'm allowing a Drow to try and break the shackles of her race I can do the same for a goblinoid. Jozan, I will allow you to play a gobliniod with the following restrictions.


**Your alignment is True Neutral or above (leading towards good/law) This is because I cannot see anyone save possibly Aelistae accepting you (because she herself will have one heck of a time fitting in)
1: If your actions are deemed unacceptable by the rest of the party and they choose to oust/atack you, I will allow it as due course of racial problems all over Toril. To ensure a real feel of the tentions and constraints of the Campaign Setting.
**I do Not want Jozan to make an opening post and immediately have everyone attack him, but the scene set should help prevent that.
2: Since your character is of evil racial stereotype and not alignment, I'll hope (but not demand) for your attempted teamwork and productive addition to the team.

If anyone still decides they cannot or will not roleplay with a goblinoid for whatever reason speak here and now freely. If you know my DM'ing style, you'll know my PC's change the game, and I am but a weaver of tales. From the opening post on, I allow as much liberty in action and roleplay as can be allowed, and thus hope you'll do me the honor of continuing to play.

With Lar'd Ner leaving his front exposed, Aldaris commanded Jeeve's to move in front of him, kneeling with his shield providing some cover versus projectiles, scimtar at the ready.

Aldaris was ready for whatever might make its appearance from the trees, his bow readied against any recognizable threat.

Readied Bone Bow Atk: 19/d20+5/atk =24-vs-AC

(Threat defined as anything obviously going to attack, or cast a spell while visible. Spellcasters take priority for the atk.)

The howling did little to unnerve Aldaris as he gazed out into the night. With no natural fear of death, combat or the unknown fascinated the strange scholarly elf. And what did Jeeve's care, as he was already dead! Jeeve's slowly pulled forth a scimitar and sheild, his sightless gaze piercing farther than any humans.

Putting his back to the cave wall just inside the entrance, with jeeves guarding his flank on the inside of the cave and other adventurers on the outside, Aldaris pulled forth his foreign shortbow hewn from the bone of some ancient beast. Knocking an arrow he listened and watched intently on his surroundings.

(Listen check: 7/d20 +2/skill =9/total)
(Spot check: 16/d20 +7/skill =23/total.)
