Subject: as is standard for Kaelyn

as he's a 100% campaign specific adaptable character... I've rolled a d10 for his starting class.. and so Kaelyn this time round is not the standard rogue, but a wizard instead.

Subject: Heart of Winter

The women, wounded and weary, were so focused on helping the spirit, of ridding this temple of evil that they clouded their minds to numb the pain that gnawed at their bodies, and apparently their minds.

So focused were they that as they gingerly cradled the large heart, feeling the numbing cold through even their thick cloaks, that they missed the expression of the spirits grin switch from one of a pleaful gasp to a grin of manipulative malice.

As soon as they set the heart upon the bones of the skeleton nestled in the arms of the Pieta, it shrunk, sank beneath the ribs, and settled into the chest cavity. Suddenly, the entire body seemed to enter a state of regeneration, as vessels and muscle tissue, sinew and flesh began to form anew. And the Spirit cackled maliciously as it sank over the regenerating body, fused and became one with the shell, and as the body finished its recouperation, the flesh took on scales that glistened like snowflakes, and hardened to steel. In mere moments, the body had reformed, and it was not the body of a human, but when the eyes opened to reveal reptillian eyes, and scales covering elongated features revealed exaggerated teeth and claws, Silvara and Zorana knew they had made a terrible mistake.

The woman in a half-dragon form sat up from where the skeleton once lay, and with a toothy grin smiled at the women as it yanked at the chains which bound her wrists and ankles. Snapping free of the bonds which had restrained her for so long she let out a screeching roar, which halfway through turned into a cackle of laughter.

"I thank you my ungifted sisters... You have released me from a most... unenjoyable confine, and for that you should be rewarded." The half dragon yawned and stretched before stepping down off the alter between the two women, her back currently turned to them.

"So I grant you your lives. Leave now and take your pitiful existances with you, for I, Malice, have returned to continue what was interrupted those many moons ago."

Subject: try again!

Zorana and Silvara knew the danger of the object before them, but they knew also the dire situation that leaving such an object alone to grow could have if it were to continue to spread.

Bracing themselves with prayers and positive thoughts, the duo charged the the black field once more, and once more as soon as they hit the barrier they felt the strength sapped from their bodies. (Zorana Str 13 Silvara 14) but this time they would not falter; to do so would mean certain failure, and death. Pushing against the strength sapping aura, they closed on the sphere, and it pulsed a defiant purplish-black light. Zorana in that instant felt every nightmare she'd ever suffered in her years of life strike her, and her knees fought against buckling out from under her. Silvara, of a race of sleep and dreamless creatures, was unaffected, and did not understand what was happening to her companion whose link to her Deity was the only thing keeping her standing, despite the physical toll on her body. (Zorana 38/42hp)

Pushing through with incredible effort, The women moved to strike the orb, Silvara with a channelled spell, and Zorana with all the might of her deity.

Silvara's enchanted sword channeled the firey power of her spell into the orb, and it flashed in an almost angry retribution. Her sword connected and so did her spell, but the wave flashed out and extended wider in that instant, sapping more of the women's strength. (Silvara 12 Str 29/ 38hp & Zoranna 11 Str 30/42hp)

Zorana's strike came down at the same time, her channeled holy energy smashing into the unholy orb, and the opposing forces exploded in a shower of neutralized energy. (Critical hit!) The Orb shuddered, and so too did the entire temple around it, before a great crack appeared on the orb's surface. The crack fissured and spread across the surface of the sphere, like a great earthquake rending the surface of a planet as viewed from space. Blue light shot forth from the orb, catching the women in a ray of icy cold. Zorana miraculously was able to shrugg of the debilitating effects of the spray, only suffering the damaging cold, but Silvara was knocked clear from her feat as the spray stole a part of her essence. ((Silvara 12 Str 22/ 38hp -1 temporary level & Zoranna 11 Str 21/42hp)

As Silvara fell from the blow, frost still upon her delicate features, the orb exploded in a shower of dark glass and energy, the fragile surface bouncing harmlessly off the women's armor, and their vision went black...

When sight returned to the women, the orb, and the black field emanating from it no longer existed, but sitting there upon the pedastal where the sphere once lay was now a most disturbing sight. Encased in a thin layer of magical ice, lay a large still beating heart. It throbbed and pulsed, a cold aura surrounded it as it beat in a steady, taunting rhythm...

Around them, the skeleton's in the pews had all fallen to pieces, the only one still assembled was chained to the pieta in the holy alter. Around the women, the spirit twirled and soared, her voice distant still, but speaking with more enthusiasm.

"Yess, you have stopped the orb... now, the heart.... bring me the heart....."

Subject: Decisions

Having decided that moving under the cover of night would be more tactically sound, the group made camp in the thin copse of trees a hundred yards from the burnt out bridge and waited for nightfall. There they discussed what to do with their horses, spell selection, and other strategies, for tonight would be the first strike against the keep and all those trying to occupy it.

(Move ahead to midnight where Aleistae can now pray for her spell)

I'm going to assume everyone is in favor of going under cover of darkness, and as such, will move the game along in such a fashion.

Ginafae my dear, in searching the corpses, aside from crude weapons (shapened sticks, and bent pieces of scrap iron etc, the goblins are armorless and contain a single copper piece wedged carefully between one of their toes, likely trying to keep it hidden.)

The soldier, bears a breastplate with severe burn damage, and a gaping hole about the size of a tennis ball burnt right through it with scorch damage around it, and numerous small nicks and tears throughout his clothing. The soldier's ear lobe is torn, likely a forced removal of an earring, and no weapon can be found.

The Horse bears the useless but perhaps tradeable gaugdy barding, but it's rather heavy and cumbersome. There are no saddlebags or the like.

Subject: The sphere

Silvara and Zoranna were convinced that destroying the sphere before them would put an end to the troubles desecrating this temple. So with a cry to Tyr Zorana charged the sphere, with Silvara providing support. Her charge however was halted the moment she hit the wave of darkness emanating from the orb.

The force of the wave smacked Zorana as though she had run into a stone wall. Reeling, her senses distorted, and Silvara barely stopping in time to avoid the force herself, Zorana felt her strength wane in that instant of contact with the field. (-2 temporary Strength ability loss) It would seem like this field didn't like tresspassers, and it would take a great resolve to reach the sphere, and greater still with each moment that passed as the field grew larger. They would have to either brave the field, or leave the evil machination to its own devices.

Subject: Reprocussions of Delays

The night thankfully passing without incident, the group rising the next morning with renewed spirits and vigor, they made all haste across the open plains of Tethyr towards the north, where nestled between the forks of the River Sulduskoon and under the shadows of the Starspire lay their destination. For three days and three nights the party traveled, riding hard, and stopping little lest food or nourishment be required; until they would hit the river and travel along its banks to the east. Only once did they encounter resistance, in the form of a stray prairie cat, disturbed by thundering hooves while stalking a gazelle across the fields. It paced the riders for a few moments, but a hail of warning fire dissuaded it from continuing farther, and it lurked off back through the tall grass.
It was on the fourth day that Bartholomew pulled out his map noting the rising peaks in the distance matched with his information. The Starspire Mountains, the end was within sight. The riverside at their left, as they made their way east, Bart estimated another two hours travel before reaching the ford indicated on the map.
“We’ve been fortunate these passed few days, but I wouldn’t chance to bet that same good fortune means no other parties have beat us here, or that the goblin’s simply got tired of the scenery and retreated back into their caves. From here on out, we must keep more alert than ever before, for we are entering the heart of enemy territory, with more players present in this game than I’d care for.”
The riding order what changed from the open ride to one of strategic importance; with Artanis riding abreast Xaris atop Sunshine, the steed out sizing the gnomish rider almost five to one, the little barbarian bouncing along in the saddle at the forefront of the marching order. Behind them rode Linnix and Dylan in her cart, Tock working hard as ever to keep the pace set before him, the stubborn light horse never complaining as it pulled the largest weight out of the group. Beside them rode Bart, map in hand, Alice quietly trotting along the pace slowed to account for the lack of a distinguished road along the riverbank. Pulling up the rear of the convoy were Aelistae and Talus, their keen eyes keeping sight for anything out of the ordinary.
For another hour they made their way forward, until the signs of smoke rose out over the distance, and as the party neared, Bart’s instincts told him what was wrong before his eyes fell upon the scene. The wooden bridge spanning the ford had been burnt through, only the edges of the structure still remained, the waters of the Sulduskoon river flowing freely beneath the wrecked passage. As the party neared closer, they also spotted the evidence of a battle, and at least three separate forces were engaged here. Upon the earth were the corpses of a trio of goblins, their lives ended by sword and arrow wounds, crude weapons fallen at their sides. Aside them was an armored man in spiked steel, a vicious burn mark piercing his armor, and the obvious cause of death. His eyes lay back in his skull, a grimace of pain emblazoned upon his twisted features. Finally there lay a finely adorned stallion, it’s side split open from spell and spear laying dead upon the ground. The barding it wore still carried it’s gaudy appearance, with large semiprecious stones and colored glass ornamenting the silken fabrics. Functionally it would hardly protect the steed from harm, though it would certainly garner the attention of onlookers to the rider of such an ostentatiously garbed creature.
The dead soldier certainly did not appear to be the rider of the aforementioned steed, their attire clashed attesting to that, so perhaps the steed’s rider had fled to safety. All over the ground, dozens of hoof and footprints trampled the grounds, many leading to the now destroyed bridge.

“We’re too late.” Bart said much of his luster stolen from the statement. “Backtracking to another crossing would take days, and no horse can make the forty foot jump across.”

The river itself, as Bart deducts is roughly forty feet wide, and without the bridge, nigh impossible to cross without some industrious means. The river might be swam across, but certainly the horses wouldn’t make the depth of the river, which though clear in water, cannot be seen beneath the murky depths some distance below. It would appear a plan of action need be made.

Subject: The sphere's area of influence

The Sphere at the end of the Pew's is radiating negative energy at the rate of about a foot a round, or we'll say 5' a minute to keep things simple. So the radius grows 5' a minute, and given where the closest skeletons are you've got about 3 minutes before the black wave hits the first pew skeletons, 4 minutes and it'll hit two more, 5 minutes it'll hit all 6, and in 6 minutes it'll even extend far enough to encompas the chained skeleton at the end of the room by the alter. By ten (10) minutes the entire room will be covered by the wave.

As Silvara and Zorana discuss how to handle this turn of events, and Silvara questions trying to seal the door, even though no means to close it can be seen; the woman both feel that chilling presence once more
this time it whips around them and takes on a spectral form, the flowing transparent figure of a woman clad in robes appears before them and though her expression seems as though she is yelling the warning; her voice is hollow and seems to come from a distance.

"There is no time, you must destroy the sphere... I cannot keep it's evil at bay much longer... in contacting you I have weakened... destroy the sphere.... save us..."

Kimono watched as Maera baited Kiku, taunted her and spoke to her as though she knew her innermost thoughts. To add to the surprise, a trio of figures entered the Outer Dungeon behind Maera, and the one known as Azure Kite offered challange to the infamous player, who was seeming less and less a regular player by the minute.

Kimono didn't know who would win in such a battle, and though the odds seemed three on one, the comments about continual losing did little to ease her concience.

"Let's not waste their efforts!" Kimono called, taking off after the others, grabbing Kiku's arm and diving through the portal.

Katriana mews a cough as she reflects on the news gleaned. It would take longer than was wanted just to track down and gather the others, let alone wait for the four hour rendevous time, and by then any hopes of catching the caravan would be long gone.

"I guess we all have some time before departure, and it seems we'll be making our own way. Why not try to obtain a map of the area and surrounding lands so we can plot our course, I am going to tend to a few things, I will not be late."

With that Katriana takes her leave of her companion.
Katriana will attempt to spend three hours of purchasing a large quantity of bread and fruit (25 small loaves of bread and 25 apples) visiting the local churches/ orphanages, back alleyways and perhaps the harbor district and other places of impoverished people, sharing what she may of kindness and the gospel to those that will listen. If any of the beggars, often a city's underlying source of rumor and information have anything to share that may prove useful, she'll reward them with a copper for each tidbit as well.

Wow I'm glad I set it up to be able to be read from work. That post excited me long enough not to fall asleep overnight hehe, Though I must say my night was better than Thondrek's. I got promoted and he got captured lol

anywho...

Did our captors take our healing belts? I'm just wondering since it looks like a normal belt and it's currently holding up me pants under my armor (which they didn't bother to take off) or my True strike clasp for that matter? since it's just a normal ornamental bauble in appearance. I presume they have the means to detect magic items and the answer's no, but it's just smart to try and take stock of all possible options.

If someone else would like to take over on the story I started then by all means go ahead, but for now I think I'll focus on my other game which is still going on strong and gaining momentum every week.

The Room was like an antichamber to something beautiful and terrifying at the same time. The blue flamesl ining the door before them stood as a challenge and a testament to those brave --or was it foolish-- enough to pass its threshold and glean the wonders beyond.

Kimono had just finished building herself up to take that fateful step when the voice of a stranger to some, but not to all made itself known behind them.

Turning, to find none other than the much talked about, dare said legendary Maera, wings glistening behind her as she hovered above the floor. Few word's were exchanged, but at the womans designation of the word Tarvos, her gaze affixed upon Kimono, the noob Adept rogue felt like something deep inside her character data had just lurched, as though some unknown entity inside had responded to being called by name; and back in the real world, a bead of sweat caressed a delicate forhead and cheek from beneath the headset as the player involuntarily shuddered.

"Tarvos?" Kimono asked, wondering what that meant exactly. "Is that some sort of 'The World' lingo I've not heard of yet? Cause it sounds to me like some twisted astrological sign or something, and you better not be assosciating me with a bull or nothing."

Kiku was more shaken than the other's, visibly so as she retreated from Maera. Kimono approached her, placing herself between the cleric and the infamous Emperor. "Don't worry", Kimono said smiling to her companion as she switched to party chat. PC: "Nothing to worry about, if she is the top Chaotic PK'er like its rumored, everyone just jump through the doorway into the next area and we'll take it from there."

Kimono kept fighting the Outer Bugs along with her companions, those partied or otherwise, and she could feel the level up's enhancing her character with each battle. "Yes!" She exclaimed as three more golden rings encircled her as they continued on. When they reached the 'end', and Gho Lightning explained the possibility of 'power' and the irrevocable future that advancing would mean, Kimono found her feet never slowing in their path to the destination.

"If power will allow me to protect others, and prevent those damn Pker's from running rampant, then only one path lies before me, and I'll take it to the end of the world and back if I have to." Kimono gritted her teeth and thrust her bend arm forward and up ending in a clenched fist to accentuate her dedication to her goals."

The ground rushed up at him much faster than he had hoped, and the wind was knocked from his lungs for the second time in as many hours as the earth he loved claimed more injury. Picking himself up, he knew however that he didn't have time to worry about himself, this goblin foe was dangerous as was the horde that was dangerously close, their footsteps could be heard plainly, as well as the sounds of goblin-tongue as they were only seconds away.

Thondrek activated his True Strike clasp and called out to his companions. "Ten second's till we're overrun, whatever you plan on doing do it quick!"

(Move action to stand, standard for activation, free action to speak)

Round two

Depending on his initiative, Thondrek will move to strike him with his crystal enchanced Axe using his increased Accuracy. Hoping the goblin iswounded enough that he might be able to fell him with a strike, he'll Channel a Shocking grasp into the blow, taking advantage of the metal armor he wears.
((Atk +34 (8+1 (crystal)+20 True Strike +2 flanking +3 he's in metal)Damage 1d10+3 (2str +1 crystal) +5d6 electrical))

(If the Goblin is felled before Thondrek's initiative, He will instead cast Swift Expedious retreat as a Swift action, Move aside Malius, and expend Two charges from his healing belt into the ranger. (Providing he's not dead)

For the first time since the expedition had begun, the traveling companions went an entire day without any conflict or danger. Dylan sang, Aelistae pondered, and Artanis traveled deep in the thoughts of her past, and of the changes she would make for her future. Others bantered or quietly rode along in the company of their thoughts, and soon daylight had been wrested from the sky as the blanket of night overtook it and soon the party decided to make camp. An unspoken tension hung as the moon, as full and clear as the night before began its climb into the night sky. Everyone knew the possible consequences of its ascent, but none wanted to speak of the possibility of having to turn on one of their own, and so with mixed glances of trepidation and doubt, everyone agreed to sit around the fire within sight of everyone else until the Moon had reached its zenith.
Bart tried to make small talk to try and pass the time, but nothing he could say seemed relevant in light of the night’s possible outcome.
“I guess Elesia was so much better at this than I.” He chuckled to himself.
“I.. I just want to let you all know, those new and old who have joined me in my vision, that whatever happens tonight, it’s been a pleasure; no an honor traveling with you all.”
The night went on and the moon rose higher, and at it’s crest, everyone exchanged tense looks, hands subconsciously moving closer to weapons or incantations being pulled to the forefront of minds. As soon the moon reached its apex, there was an eerie silence… and then Linnix howled.
In an instant, hands flew to weapons and faces turned in shock and horror to the lithe woman who sat there laughing and howling to the moon in a mock rejection of the fate which could have plagued any one of them. “Looks like the Lady truly favors us this night.” She said turning to the others, a smile splayed across her delicate lips. Bart’s scornful look melted at the realization that everyone seemed fine and well, and he could not help but laugh himself, and howl and then bark at the moon above.
“Let us all bark to the Bitch on the moon and let her know Shar has no power over us!”
~*~*~*~
The rest of the night passed smoothly, and in the morning after a delightful if not simple breakfast, camp was broken and the fellowship moved on once more, only a handful of days left until they would reach their destination.

(I’ll allow for some conversation here if wanted, and post again in a couple days)

Silvara threw caution to the wind and inserted the silver candlestick into the relief in the heavy gold door. With a soft ‘click’ the item fit into the space, and a two inch gap in the door slid away on either side of the relief as Silvara and Zorana both looked on in bewilderment and wonder. When nothing else happened, Silvara reached in the space provided, gripped the candlestick, and pulled it forward like a lever, and a great grinding sound of hidden gears and machinery was heard, weights and balances working in unison to move the obstruction. The door gave way slowly, lifting up into the ceiling of the threshold, till only a faintly golden half foot thick line could be seen.

As soon as the door parted from the floor, a rush of stale air escaped and washed over the pair of women. Before them was a room that looked not to have been disturbed in many years. The room was massive, roughly thirty feet wide and sixty long. It would appear to have been some sort of prayer or ritual chamber, as the hallway was lined with floor sconces and pews on either side of a faded once deep red carpet leading up to a raised platform where five ornately iconic pillars of alabaster surrounded a central alter depicting a beautiful motherly woman who presumably once was holding a another stone figure in the form of a pieta, however the second stone figure was now only fragments of vandalized and destroyed stone scattered at her feet and on the floor, while in its place was a skeleton chained in a blasphemous mockery of the statues intent, the bones preserved from the lack of disturbance in the sealed room. While it is obviously a skeleton, closer inspection would require approaching it.

Aside from the skeleton in the center of the rear Alter, a handful of skeletons also sat in the pews, positioned in moments of prayer, boney fingers interlaced, or resting on the pew backs in front of them while their heads were bowed. There are six skeleton’s in total.

Before the alter stands a pedestal of black basalt, it seems out of place in this hall of alabaster and light wood. Upon the pedestal sits a black orb about the size of a large cannon ball; which emits a strange iridescent purplish light. Through torch and low light vision, the pair of women tries to detect any possible threats, but finding none, slowly advance into the room. As their feet cross the threshold, they are both battered by a chilled breeze which whips across their exposed skin and ruffles their hair.

Thinking the ghostly presence is possibly a warning, the women halt their advance, but it only took that single step across the once golden barrier for the room to react to their presence. In the darkened room the floor sconces flared to light in purplish blue flames every five feet down the hallway, before they circled the raised platform, illuminating the room in a purplish-blue glow. The orb atop the pedestal as well seemed to ‘awaken’ as well, and began pulsating a faint wave of absolute darkness out from its center, starting in a five foot radius but slowly expanding wider and wider.

It was then that Zorana was smacked with a massive sense of negative aura and energy, and her heart told her this object, whatever it was reeked with the stench of evil.

Umm ok how do I explain this.

I'm under the impression I just fell off the wyvern for 3d6 points of damage and am now on the plateau with the goblin and the rest of my companions.

If I get up and smack him with my weapon, channeling a dimension hop through an arcane strike; I can teleport HIM up to 25' in any direction. So I was thinking of sending him 25' up and over the edge of the plateau so when he rematerializes he suffers the fall damage and can tumble down the hill or what not right into the midsts of the oncoming goblins.
