Topic: For Whom the Bell Tolls Q&A
Subject: Joshua

If Joshua is another templar of the same region as Jozan's Iskandel, then let Jozan have him as a fellow henchman, someone to look up to as it were a mentor in the templarish ways.

If he's not, I don't know the hieracrchy of the church in this case, but if Emmerus as a cleric outranks Jozan / Joshua as templars, then let him follow Emmerus. I'm not too picky either way. Emmerus is afterall from outside the area, and is really just on assignment since he came here.

And option three....

Can't we get Emberburn to take on the entire forest lol./.. promise him there's a bountiful treasure buried under the boughs of the trees lol..
ok.. so maybe not.

Anywho, I'll get back to you with a 'vote' when I reread the options.

Thondrek knew that his companions were in trouble, but he also knew that to tur his back on the liard before him was to invite disaster upon them all. Hold on jus a lil longer Geim Thondrek thought as he attacked the creature before him once more. The sooner he could finish this threat, the ooner he could aid te others.

Elesia looks up from the small cache of potions and scrolls she has before her. She wished she could sin a song to wipe the pain away from al he dear companions, but Bart's wounds had required immediate aid in the aftermath of feding off the orcs who had arived at the cave mouth afterthe others had ventured inside. The man was no warrior Elesia knew, but for such a common folk, his courage and determination were something commendable. He had put himself in harm's way to protect Elesia, a stranger to him on all accounts, and fended off the attackers as best as he could. Fortunately, Elesia's 'charming' personality had won over one of the orcs, helping turn the tide on the others.

"I'm afraid I cannot sing a song to aid anyone, but perhaps these few potions will lighten the burdens of pain." With that Elesia lifts up the wo potions of Cure Light Wounds and the Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds. "Kas, Artanis, they are yours for the taking for you wounds appear great. Come, drink." Elesia holds out the potions for the others to accept or be given while she continues her identification of other potions and scrolls. "If there is something to identify, please let me know soon, I'd rather be singing a song round a warm fire when the chill of night arrives, then sitting out here with random items before me just piquing my interest." With that, she lets her fingers slide over the spear Kas once carried, and muttered something indeciferable to everyone else. She looked up and smiled at whomever was closest. "It's pretty. Probably worth quite a bit to a collector."

Turning to Loriels ask for assistance, Elesia could only shrug, her time was already allocated. "I wish you luck in your venture too. I'll sing a happy song for your safe return."

I'm in the works of a post for Aelistae whose away from the rest of the party, but aside from that anything pertaining to the main group will need posts in character and at least some semblance of agreement in the q/a of whose doing what.

Katriana departed with a silent stoic demeanor from the Saucy Wench. She carried Kumadel’s limp form in her soft hands, as though she were carrying something far more precious than any cargo they were escorting to the temple. As the group of strangers departed, along with a crewman who carried a box containing the valued cargo, It was Raen who decided to take control of the situation, placing people in a tactical fashion around the crewman, and the warmage who had a slippery trigger finger. Lherial shot back a well spoken retort, though it was backed with no small amount of anger at the disrespect Raen had shown to the crewman. Katriana however, simply fell into place, her keen senses keeping a lookout, as she walked focusing her god given ability of Detect Evil as she moved. “I would have the name of she who would so order others of free will and good standing.” While her voice wasn’t harsh or inquisitional, it was stated matter-of-factly, like no other option was available.

Katriana was still concerned for the late Kumadel. She worried about how she was going to have the fallen warrior brought back to life, for it was no small task. Even if she did manage to raise the money needed, not every church would spend the time or energy to bring back a fallen stranger, especially without having any previous knowledge of their value or respect under the banner of the churches cause. She hoped that with the delivery of the package, it would give their little group the extra leverage to convince the hierarchy of the church to bless Kumadel, a stranger even to Katriana, with knew life.

Topic: Forgotten Realms: The Unsung Heroes
Subject: Some downtime

So it was that the companions, battered but not broken, while having been embittered at the notion that there perhaps was no woman or child to rescue in the first place, had at least recovered quite the haul of valuables for their heroic efforts. As a collective team, the members of the party gathered the loot and made their way towards the exit, assisting Artanis as well in the maneuvering of the twelve foot ladder contraption that would hopefully serve as a bridge to cross the span blocking their escape.

As Artanis lay the bridge down, and tested it for support, the rope along the legs helped to prevent it from skidding, while the center sagged only slightly from the weight of the added rope. And there thankfully on the other side stood Elesia, her beautiful features only enhanced by the act that her pretty white dress was now splattered in a myriad of dirt and blood. “Fear not, for it is not my own, but when we were set upon I feared only the worst for you all trapped below. Come come, let’s get you out of there.”

Xaris, being the lightest of the group, had volunteered to try it first, and with Artanis standing on the lip of the ladder bridge began to make his way across. The bridge was surprisingly strong, and Xaris was able to pick his way across without much effort. The rope helped provide some traction under foot as he went. Safely on the other side, Xaris took a stand on the far end of the ladder, and soon everyone began slowly, making their way across. Fortune was on their side it would seem, and each made their way across in a timely manner. Moonshadow was last to cross, the four legged beast testing the bridge with some uncertainty before crossing. With everyone safely across, Artanis pulled the ladder bridge across the hole, but the unexpected weight of it all when it fell free from the other side tore it from her grasp and it collapsed into the hole below.

Moving back up the corridor, Linnix stopped aside the small chest they had passed earlier, handing Aelistae her candle orbs to give her some light.. While none had even been hinted towards her skills at legerdemain or the thiefly arts, Linnix surveyed the chest, and found a small catch cleverly hidden beneath the lock on the front of the chest. Removing some fine wires and a rounded hoop on the end of a thin piece of tube, defty disarmed the mechanism that would have no doubt caused some sort of harm. Picking the lock afterwards came as childsplay, for it was not a difficult one or of fine quality. Opening the chest, Linnix was rewarded with a silver chain, upon which hung a miniature horse-headed figure. Adding it to the chest of gold that had been carried out from the depths of the complex, Linnix and Aelistae slowly followed everyone outside.

There, finally back into the fleeting warmth of daylight, the companions could see the results of Elesia and Barts own battle. A pair of orcish bodies lay slain on the ground, as well as that of a wolf, once feral and full of mange. Bart sat atop Alice, the signs of wounds and magical healing apparent on his face and arms. “Hail my friends, so good to see you safely back” He paused as the last of the companions, but no others left the cave. “Where are those we were sent to find?”

(Allowing conversation and explaining the events)

Bart simply shakes his head a look of disgust on his face. “And that old man was so convincing I could have sworn he was telling the truth. But enough of that. We have lost the day, and are all tired. Let us make camp in the safety of this cave for the evening. We shall march again at first light.”

As everyone managed to finally relax for a short while, the treasures were piled, and rations shared. Aelistae at one point quietly conversed with Elesia, whom to her happy surprise, was quite skilled at potions and herblore, and began the slow process of identifying what potions were presented to her. At the mentioning of magic items found below, she approaches the pile, and with a barely audible incantation, casts Detect Magic. With some concentration, she points out which effects are magical in nature and mentions she has a single scroll of ‘identify’, and can cast one herself. As Bart goes about divvying up what treasured money has been presented, a fire is constructed and meats and cheeses, wines and waters are produced from the storage of Elesia’s magical pockets.

Finally, some downtime.

The following are what Elesia is abe to discern or identify (without using her two available identify spells those will have to be discussed In chaacter or agreed upon in the q/a)

The following are magical.

blackened magical (unidentified) Holy symbol of Bane

?? Mirrored, quartz encrusted large steel shield (Artanis)
?? Incandescent garnet encrusted short spear (Kasennarion)

Silver chain bearing miniature horse-headed man
The cloaked woman is carrying the following.
A bone wand
A Black and green cloak
Bracers
4 potions, one a foggy grey, two blue ones of different hues, and a white one.
Elesia manages to identify the above potions as A potion of blur, a potion of Cure light wounds, a Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds, and a Potion of Haste.
2 scrolls Elesia also manages to decipher these, as…
A scroll of Fireball CL5, and a scroll of Mage Armor CL 3

A Large Greataxe
A silver and gold ring on one of his tusks
A belt, containing the crescent moon and bloody eye symbol on the buckle. The belt is made from thick hide, with scales of dark green linked together.

Thanks to Linnix I forgot these From Aelistae and Linnix's excursion: 2 potions Cure light wounds 1 potion neutralize poison and 1 potion of darkvision.
Linnix's Glowing sword
Two yellow tipped and rune etched crossbow bolts.

(I apologize if it seems rushed at all, but I wanted to give everyone the chance for some downtime, talking, identifying, or interaction. I’ll split the currency as stated, and let the next couple days be yours to do with as you wish post wise. Enjoy)

Subject: The intersection

As there was roomfor you all to walk two abreast of each other, the intersection is effectively four 5'x 5' squares. AS for the mechanics of Artanis' 12' long double ladder bridge. Setting it on an angle (possibly with some adjustment to extend it to two feet extending on each side,) The ladder bridge 'will' cross the gap.

So it is definately a possibility to use in crossing.

shall I update your trying to use the ladder to cross the gap diagonally from the right passage to the entrance one? and head out? I presume you'll be searching the chest on the way out? Or are you heading out first then checking the chest should the entrance be secure..

Or further still and a likely scenario... people move on out, with Linnix stopping to investigate/open the chest

I'm happy with getting the ball rolling...

On a side note, I've the beginnings of a new character (though I'l not be trying to get Emmy killed. I was thinking of creating his estranged son, a half elf perhaps, who fell away from grace (at least in the priethood sense) in anger for his Father when his mother (possibly elvish) dies of illness while Emmerus was away at war. (SHould Emmy die, the news might just reach his ears and bring him back around for some interesting roleplay opportunities.

It takes about 15 minutes and alot of rope tieing, but soon after you have two ladders tied together with overextended ends, tightly bound by some 50' of rope.

Topic: The Chakran Portal - Q/A
Subject: Moonblade as per the spell

As I stated , Thondrek used the talisman. The Moonblade does 1d8+1 / two caster levels damage, (not including strength because it is a immaterial blade of force)

I'll quote the Moonblade spell for ease for you.

Moon Blade
Eocation
Components V, S, M, DF
Casting Time: 1 Action
RAnge 0 ft
Duration 1 minute / level (D)
Saving THrow none
Spell Reistance Yes

A 3 foot-ong blazing beam of moonlight rings forth from your hand. Anyone who can cast a moon blade can wield the beam with proficiency. However, if you are are proficient with any type of swrd, yu can wield the beam as if it were any type of sword and thus gain the benefits of of any special sword skill you might have such as weapon focus.
Attacks made with the moon blade are melee touch attacks. Its strike saps vitality or life force, causing no visibe wounds but dealing 1d8 points of damamge plu 1 point per two caster levels (to a maximum of +15) to any type of creature except undead. Undead are visibily wounded by a moon blade. Their substance boils away from its touch, and they take 2d8 points of damage plus 1 point per caster level (to a maximum of +30) per blow. The blade is immaterial and your Strength Modifier does not aply to the damage.

A successful moon blade strike temporarily scrambles magic. On the target's next turn after a hit from a moon blade, the creature must make a concentration check to use any spell or spell like ability. The DC is 10 + points of damage dealt + spell level. (an opponent hit by a moon blade while casting a pell must make the usual Concentration check to avoid ruining the pell in addition to the check on his next turn)
The Moon blade spell has no connection with the magic items known as moonblades borne and made by some elves.
