Subject: s'ok

I've been terribly under the weather with some kinda cold or such thing for the better part of a week, hence my lack of attendance here or updates.I'm only now starting to feel better, so I'll try to have the game moving before the weekend arrives. hopefully with a night of decent sleep I'll be able to get back on track.

Thanks for being so patient.

Nel looked down upon Groar's slain form, a pool of his blood already spreading around her high ankled boots. Turning to face her fellow Blades she smiled. "Well done everyone, well done." Leaning down she began to search the body of Groar, ignoring his weapon and armor, looking instead for valuables, jewelery, and more importantly, information.

"On behalf of House Deneith, I place Groar the quite killable and his misfit colleagues bodies under confiscation of the Crimson Blades. Round up any coin or valuables the other's might hold, that we may pay the good barkeep for damages, and add to our own coffers." As Nel continued to pilfer Groar's body, she had to wonder if it were truely as simple as a rival guild had ordered her dead, or if a greater threat unseen was setting pawns in motion against the Blades. Her mind always prepped for the worst, merely hoping for the best. To underestimate a situation could well leave her and her friends well, like Groar here.

Raising her eyes to find Discq she politely asked. "Could you be a dear and bring the owner out here? I think this could be an opportunity for a business arrangement."

Anyone who saw the twinkle in her eyes could see the wheels in her mind already in motion.

Subject: While on this floor.

I'm looking for anything of value, information regarding who lived / worked here, the creature that's loose in the tower, and then making my way downstairs, my ultimate goal is to let in the other pc's. But noticing that I'm neutral, and an opportunist, I've no problem with possibly acquiring something of value or new information
Does that work?

Subject: Bloody mess

As Thondrek peered over the window ledge into the tower’s high room the sight before him was enough to almost make even the hardened Khord lose his footing. Thankfully Loda’s enchantment kept him firmly in place. The blood splattered walls were a grim and macabre décor to what Thondrek could tell was once a highly organized chamber of sorts. Stepping into the window sill, his feet sticking to either side of the opening so as not to violate the poor bastard below him any further the bear tracks within the pool of blood struck the duskblade with a feeling of unease. Perhaps the wizard had a pet, or familiar struck by this strange disease, and in it’s rabid form proved too much for the wizard to control?.. Mayhaps some sort of lycanthrope had made it through the protective barrier of the tower and struck the now headless stranger low? Many thoughts passed through Thondrek’s mind as he entered the room, Jumping the short ways to the ceiling, the only thing devoid of blood, and moving across it as he scanned below, trying to keep his invisibility maintained without leaving most noticeable tracks or prints upon the blood covered walls or floor. Keeping his eyes peeled for the signs of the stranger’s head, and anything that moved, Thondrek cast Detect Magic in hopes that it might illuminate any hidden auras within the room as he picked his way across to any exit to the room he hadn’t originally seen upon entering.

(Didn’t see any description of a exit or entrance into this room, so I’m looking for one while searching for anything of note, particularly magical in nature or severed heads.. anything that moves, etc. Is the ceiling flat? or conical? Hope this is enough to work with without being overbearing)

Subject: Hmmm not long at all

The tension finally began to subside as Raen and Kalte both sheathed their weapons. Kalte was sure if it came down to it she could have taken her. Armor was weighty, and the woman moved with the rigidity of militia training. Kalte moved like water, like a panther stalking its pray. She would use the full force of the animal spirits to take on any challenge; including a broad in a tin can suit.

As Celene bid everyone rest and prepare for the journey’s beginning tomorrow, Kalte merely nodded her head in acceptance that though the party would obviously not begin as one tribe, perhaps there would be time for bonding later. It would be a long trip ahead, and Kalte had never been on a ship before, had never even seen the ocean. She left the room silently, heading for a room to bed down in. The morning would come quickly so it would be right to bed tonight.

Subject: the Perverbial Frying pan... of frost

Taklinn found himself traveling down the icy slide with increasing velocity. The lack of friction let his considerable weight plummet down the chute like dead weight. When he did finally come to a halt it was far from pleasant as he landed with a thud upon the cold icy ground, his shoulder throbbing as it bore the brunt of his crash. (-12hp) As Taklinn’s weapons and gear clattered down around him, he looked up to find himself in an ice lined cavern, thick stalagmites of ice growing all around him. The Cavern was roughly 20’ in diameter, with an exit to the north. The passageway carried on roughly 20’ before veering off to the left. Perhaps the most crucial part of the décor was the numerous bones scattered about the floor, some partially covered with ice, some completely encased in it. The very walls seemed to have grown around the remnants of past victims, and in the eastern wall there’s a complete skeleton preserved in the icy wall. From the exit passageway Taklinn could hear the exchanging of growls and howls of pain. It sounded like multiple beasts were fighting, perhaps over the scraps of their last meal? Whatever the case, the Arctic dwarf found himself in the proverbial frying pan of frost as it were, with only one visible way out, and time against him.

Subject: Cool thy Temper part 2

The Yeti had roared, Temper had roared, and Frostbite had let out its not quite so intimidating growl much like a lion cubs when learning to stalk the plains for the first time. As Temper grew larger with the help of his spell, the Yeti took the time to swing at the orcish intruder. Fierce claws came terribly close to grabbing Temper, but in his growing the Yeti’s grasp faltered. Temper was physically and mentally psyched to wrestle with this creature of savage power, a true test of his skill. Temper reared back ready to bite and claw and tear the life from the yeti, staining its white pelt red; that was until the beast transformed, before his very eyes into a simple snow hare. The creature so small and so simple still bore that murderous look in its beady little eyes. Nipping at Temper’s boot it scurried away, only to be crushed under the hairy padded foot of another Yeti with a sickening crunch, this time with a partner in tow. The two Yetis did not stop their charge into the chamber from the right corridor for a simple rabbit no, they continued right on into Temper with a ferocious force; both of them tackling the enlarged warrior to the ground, where they began pounding upon his chest with heavy handed fists. (-11hp) Temper took the opportunity to do all he could against the beasts atop his already massive frame. First he bit deep into the lead Yeti’s shoulder, (-13hp) tearing flesh and fur from the beast, then followed up by clawing at its sides, leaving bloody lines marring it’s once blanched pelt in blood. . (-15hp)

The battle is in full force, with Temper under the weight of two heavy Yeti’s thirsting for blood. Frostbite looked eager to enter the fray, though she looks at Winter for support in the matter. The druid would have to decide whether to help the large stranger or not, and to make matters worse, the low growl of something else was approaching from the tunnel leading to the surface entrance. This room would become very crowded, very fast if something wasn’t done. The cave meant to shelter travelers from harm was fast becoming an icy prison.

Nel was having a grand ol time; that is until Groar so rudely splattered his blood upon her delicate features. "I suppose we wouldn't be called the Crimson Blades if we were never marred in blood." With a quick sidestep she nimbly dodged Groar's massive blade as it splintered the floor by her heels.

"I don't mind your guild trying to kill me, really the exercise is what helps me look this good. But honestly, public destruction of property is so barbaric, obviously Daask leaves much to be desired in the style department."

With that, Nel kept her guard up dancing around Groar left and right, feinting in and out to find an opening with which to end this fight. "Sweety this dance is about to come to an abrupt end, it would seem that Draven here's ready to.. cut in." With that she pointed behind Groar and tossed Draven a playful wink.

((Nel's utilizing the same tactics that have worked for the past two rounds. Combat Ex to the max, + Feinting and flankining bonuses. You could use Bluff with her last comment to convince Groar Draven's about to attack, maybe get him to turn his attention away from Nel I dunno. Draven will atack so i doubt it's much of a penalty lol... Again use that AP ifnecessary, but I'm hoping it won't be.)

The Land sharks had appeared in a blast of rock and snow and caught everyone unawares. The massive creatures had already begun their feast even as Alexander crawled from his tent and Arthass bellowed order’s for his men to form up. The sharks clawed and bit their way through two more of the Altressians, their armor no match for the spear tip teeth of these foreign creatures. Seeing a need to distract the land shark’s long enough for the Altressian’s to assemble, the ever confident Alexander waltzed right up to the nearest shark, and with gleaming great sword in hand, took an overhand chop at it. His sword sharp as it was split the shark’s armored hide clean down the middle of its back a solid half inch-13hp , but the hide of the beast was tough and now it was angered at having been distracted from eating Arthass’ countrymen. Turning to face Alexander, the beast in all its girth seemed to defy physics, as it leaped upon him with claws raking his armor and flesh into tattered shreds. (4 hits total a whopping -49hp Alexander stammered backwards almost falling over from the sheer amount of pain he was in. To make matters worse, the other land shark had taken a vested interest in Alexander, and was making its way over to him.

From behind the forming wall of shields and swords, Galbad, Arthass’ second in command watched as Alexander Slash, their traveling companion, guide, and better in many aspects had single-handedly bought the majority of his comrades enough time to organize their defense. Now, he was outside their wall, and didn’t stand a chance against two of those beasts; not after what one did to him. “We need to help him, he’ll die out there alone.”

“So leave him he’s not one of us” Came the reply from more than one Altressian.
“Yeah just leave him, he’ll last long enough we can start climbing outta here.”

Galbad looked to Arthass for some sign of support, but he knew he wouldn’t find any. They would move as a pack, but the pack wouldn’t reach Alexander in time. “If he dies, we’re stuck on this rock without a guide.” And with that Galbad broke formation, and took off running towards the land sharks nearing an already wounded Alexander. Nearing the first land shark, he hurled his spear at it’s exposed backside, but it merely skipped off its tough hide and skittered over the edge of the plateau. Galbad was reduced to banging on his shield with his sword to try and distract the second land shark, who veered away from Alexander began its heavy footed march towards Galbad.

Arthass and his remaining fifteen men took a step forward, thirty feet moving as one. Shields were raised, and short swords were level as they approached Galbad, who moved within the safety of the shield wall. As the land shark approached, everyone nearby struck out at it, -27hp as the wall curved around it to surround it. Two men forward and one back; in case the other land shark turned their way.

(You’ve got one land shark surrounded by your troupe, 10 forward, 5 back. Alexander is wounded something fierce and outside the safety of the group. Galbad however is facing the second landshark. No more posting after midnight... Large quantities of numbers and liquor spell ill fated doom for my players. )

Subject: Heralds and Heroes, Round 2

The darkness of night had been cast aside by the lights sheathing both Atharam and the Herald’s fabled weapons. Atharam’s was a fiery orange with yellow and red flashes along its length, while the Herald’s blade crackled with purple electricity and an aura of the blackest evil. The Herald bared a toothy grin as it approached, but it would not get far as Atharam atop Raykel charged forward, bellowing commands with steel in his tone. His mighty steed propelled him onward at great speed in such a short distance, and his Flametongue driving deep into the Herald -18hp and sending the large demon stumbling backwards. Seething in anger the Herald howled, but that too was cut short as Tai-Laan appeared out of nowhere to launch a strong kick to the Herald’s knee. Her foot connected with the hard bone of the kneecap and was redirected along it’s shape harmlessly aside Leaving the monk momentarily off balanced… and vulnerable. The Herald breathed a hot stale breath reeking of sulfur upon Tai-Laan as she raised her massive Greatsword. The Fellblade came down bringing doom along with it for the poor disciple of Ravelin. Drake managed to reach the Herald just as the Fellblade came crashing down dragging along deep along Tai-laan’s back as she recovered from her off-thrown kick-18hp , only to find the Herald had brought the massive blade back around with incredible speed to carve a sizeable chunk from her flank, her rib cage visible through the torn flesh muscle and sinew. -26hp (critical)
The wounds crackled with the blackened purple glow, and they burned not only the flesh, but at Tai-laan’s very soul. Drake’s rapier dug in only slightly to the Herald’s thick mantacorian thighs, --9hp) Enough to elicit a threatening crack from the Herald’s spiked tail in response. A dark liquid can be seen dripping freely from the tail spikes.

While those proficient in the art of melee engaged the Herald in dangerously close quarters, Donia and Paorn were far from having a picnic themselves. Grasping his holy symbol, Paorn cried out the words that would hopefully burn the demon’s blood till there was nothing but an empty husk. As the demon’s blood began to boil it let out a howl of anger laden pain -10 A brief shimmer of light threatened to encase the outsider, but with a Growl of defiant rage it broke free of the restricting magic. Not to be outdone by a dwarf of the cloth, Donia quickly fingered a piece of quartz between her fingers and began to chant. Asshe did the quarts crackled and frosted over with ice, which soon elongated into an icicle the length of a lance. With but a thought, Donia sent the projectile careening towards the Herald. The ice lance smashed into the Herald with devastating force; impaling the warrior-28hp and shattering into a million harmless fragments. The Herald absolutely outraged by the mortal’s indignant refusal to bow before a messenger of the God’s summoned forth a blackened aura filled with dread. Everyone except Atharam felt their darkest fears and most horrid nightmares materializing around them, but unbelievably, each was able to pierce the darkness and shake off the terrifying aura, matching it with the light of their combined wills. (Though obviously that’s a metaphor and you’re not all glowing) The Herald was obviously furious, and would happily let the companions know of her anger quite vocally.

Thondrek watched as Alyssia's lightning bolt crackled and split the air... but not the door the electrical charge harmlessly dissipating.

Approaching the door he put his ear to it, then knocked upon it with a 'rap rap rap'. Seeing no way obvious way inside -after trying the door and presumably finding it locked- he turned to his companions stroking his beard.

Dang towers locked up tighter than a dwarven vault. Looks like I'll be tryin ta use a little key o' me own. Alyssia, Geim or Loda my kinfolk if'n you've got any magiks ta pave my way less noticeable or better equipped, I'm gonna try and bypass the door and walls around it with a little 'dimension hop.' would do me good not to poof into a room o' trouble starin back at me. I already risk teleportin into something solid as it is. hopefully from the inside I can open the door and let everyone into this merry little forest hideaway."

Thondrek stood next to the wall aside the door. The door was magic resistant and he didn't want to chance being denied entry from trying to pass through the warded door. He awaited Alyssia's or anyone elses magical aid if any were to be offered.

"Stone walls, we practically be cousins. Don't fail me now Tower, I gots yer durned Key right here!" With that he taps himself with dimension hop to try and teleport 6' through the tower's outer wall."

as a 3rd level druid she's got Spider Climb at 2nd level. I havn't located her spells for the day. If she can cast that it's an option to send one person in to try and open the door from the inside.

Vesper could then cast invisibility upon the one going in, and they would use the invisibility to get downstairs and open the door hopefully avoiding confrontation.

Multiple members have 50 ft bunches of rope. We could use a crossbow bolt to try and stick something in the room in the window (I realize it's a tough shot) and then climb...

Or have Malius' ferret's climb the outside and carry the rope into the window and wrap it around something (provided they are smart enough / he's got enough tricks to allow it)

out of all the spellcasters not a one has any means to levitate, spider climb or even animate rope lol.. I could repeatedly dimension hop but it would blow 9 spells just to reach the window and i'd be the only one up there.

This was the stuff that Nel lived for. Live on the blade's edge as it were; it really got her blood flowing. With a delicate feint Nel's attack drove in, though it did little against Groar's finely crafted chainmail. No matter, once more she had served her purpose. Distracted, Groar failed to notice the weight of Grishnak as it came down upon him, the satisfying clinking of broken links upon the floor riniging as music to Nel's ears. Groar howled and defiantly traded the blow with Draven, but Nel knew the man was stronger that many and would not falter.

Like the stings of a thousand bees Nel would fight, grace and speed overcoming brute strength. Utilizing the same tactics as last round, Nel feints once more, ready to strike at Groar's sword arm in hopes of weakening his grip upon the fell blade he wields. This time however she would look deep within to add a little something extra into the mix.

(Combat Ex + Feint as before (to hopefully deny dex), this time however please use 1 AP as neccesary to strike Groar - Atk 1d20+8+2flanking+1d6 if needed for 1d6+2+2d6sneak attack)

Casting a glance to Mongiere, Nel had hoped her blind companion would learn to zig when he would zag. The man was a liability at times, but he was a Blade, ad she would defend him as she would her own flesh and blood. She made note to finish Groar quickly that they may tend to their wounded and assist those still in need.
