Searching through the dead… Loriel had begun picking through the fallen enemies, laying out anything and everything she could find while requesting the aids of a magic user to detect any aura’s they might give off. Elesia was only happy to comply, and she waved her hands out before her over the small pile of items and scraps before her. For a brief moment, those with especially keen senses such as Aelistae, Xaris, and Linnix (high spot rolls) were able to see the faintest outline of translucent wings behind Elesia; much too small to bare her flight, but definitely fairy in origin. With a gentle wave of her dainty fingers, she pointed towards a blackened, charred disc whose details were masked by black, as well as a scroll case which had sustained heavy burn damage, but apparently had kept its contents protected.

“The disc I do not feel right about my friends, there is something unsettling about it.” To Kas as well, the disc before them bode ill to her senses, though she knew not why.

Aside from those items, the following are also retrievable.

Small pouch carrying:
12 gold pieces,
40 silver pieces
1 silver non-magical ring

A burned and weakened, but functional set of banded mail
2 short swords
2 daggers
1 crossbow with 8 bolts
One set of ‘bandit’ apparel :Black hood, and cloak, boots (size 10male), vest and leather gloves

1 silver non-magical bracelet
I blackened magical unidentified/touched disc
1 scroll case with scroll inside.

Linnix, Barrbarra and Bart have all approached as well, though they say little in the way of opinion at first. It would see mthey are lost in thought as to what just happened.

Subject: Loriel's Spell availability

Loriel's wisdom of 14 allows her 1 bonus 1st level spell. When looking at a 4th level ranger, we see there is a 0 in the spells/day column. This indicates tha with a sufficient wisdom score she gets 1 spell; in this case she does. The following spells are standard PHB 1st level ranger spells.
Loriel must prepare her choice for this spell each new day.
So in this case as I did not catch it sooner, she may pick a spell now. (I do have the spell compendium if you find another 1st level ranger spell from there)

Alarm: Wards an area for 2 hours/level.
Animal Messenger: Sends a Tiny animal to a specific place.
Calm Animals: Calms (2d4 + level) HD of animals.
Charm Animal: Makes one animal your friend.
Delay Poison: Stops poison from harming subject for 1 hour/level.
Detect Animals or Plants: Detects kinds of animals or plants.
Detect Poison: Detects poison in one creature or object.
Detect Snares and Pits: Reveals natural or primitive traps.
Endure Elements: Exist comfortably in hot or cold environments.
Entangle: Plants entangle everyone in 40-ft.-radius circle.
Hide from Animals: Animals can’t perceive one subject/level.
Jump: Subject gets bonus on Jump checks.
Longstrider: Increases your speed.
Magic Fang: One natural weapon of subject creature gets +1 on attack and damage rolls.
Pass without Trace: One subject/level leaves no tracks.
Read Magic: Read scrolls and spellbooks.
Resist Energy: Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type.
Speak with Animals: You can communicate with animals.
Summon Nature’s Ally I: Calls animal to fight for you.

yes I don't know why Pelor was mentioned, I'm pretty sure she's a follower of Tyr, the justice god.

Kas can spontaneously cast her spells, but she receives less spells per day and a slower spell progression than say a cleric would, that's the trade off.

Ranger's do not get 0 level cantrips or orizons in the case of divine spellcasting, and thusly Loriel has not a spell of healing to spare.

Subject: memories

Your name, sills, horse all that is fine, merely all memories assosciated with family and heritage are blank.

You are Kas(insert rest of first name here), can't even remember your last name (as that cuold be tied to family lineage) you are a skilled warrioress, and good hearted. Aside from that you don't remember where you were headed or why, who the men who accosted you are (though their bodies are before you) and you don't know who any of the people who saved you are..

Your inherent will to do good however is not changed, nor has your aura for the purpose of those who can detect such things. People (yourself included) may not know who or what you are, and they may perhaps find out someday, but as per what we discussed when creating your character, that will only be revealed if and when I deign appropriate to plot progression. (yay flaws I get to play with !)

anywho, Welcome to FR, I look forward to seeing some good character bonding/ interaction here.

So basically..

hi, I'm kas, I like umm... welll.... hi.. I'm Kas... :

Aelistae’s Healing results:
Kas - Cure Light Wounds 1d8+3 =7
Kas HP: 25/31

Aelistae: Cure Light Wounds: 1d8+3 =5
Aelistae HP: 27/30

Xaris -Cure Light Wounds: 1d8+3 =6
Xaris HP: 56/60

Elesia walks over to where everyone is wounded, and looks over the companions. “Lady Aelistae, I do not wish to go against your wisdom, but perhaps, if I bare what meager healing we have left this day, I should save it. Aside from some marks that will likely tell of all your bravery and character to future generations, it would seem you are likely no worse for wear.” Sunshine and Daisy soon trotted alongside Elesia, who reached into their saddlebags and pulled forth a vial from each. “So too were you very brave.” Said the songstress to both Moira and Moonshadow. Perhaps to Loriel’s surprise, neither creature, particularly her wolf so much as flinched as the strange woman neared. With the a gentleness befitting a mother to her babe, Elesia fed both creatures the contents of a vial from a bowl formed by her delicately cupped hands.

Moonshadow: Potion of Cure light wounds: 1d8 +1 =8
28/33
Potion of Cure Light Wounds: 1d8+1 =9
Moira: 26/30

Both creatures were obviously relieved of some of their pain,--as well as a healthy layer of hair-- and moved aside Loriel, hoping to ensure she too was fit to go on.

With everyone having moved past the chuckle at Nebulos’ expense, the trio of scholarly travelers decided to move on. Keeping close to the center of the path, they neared the turn in their path, and the lights shimmered a multitude of pale colours. Gold and whites, blues and yellows twinkled around the bend. Moving as quietly as they could to take a peek around the corner, they were startled by what they saw. Standing their, in the middle of a grove measuring roughly 20’ in radius, was a unicorn trotting around too and fro. Along the length of its beautifully spiraled horn sat a pair of tiny sprites twinkling lights floating all about their persons. The unicorn traipsed along without a care in the world, and the sprites were more than happy to go along for the ride. Listening closely the trio could here the sprites speaking.

“You know Frik, I really like the shinies, the way they glimmer, it matches my beautiful wings don’t you think?”

“Oh Frak, no gem could ever outshine you, you know that; even though it’s the size of a man’s head you’re still the prettiest pixie in all the woods.”

Frak: “Oh Frik you always say the sweetest things. But the shiny really is soooo big and soooo pretty. Maybe we should go check on it, you can compare my beauty to it some more an tell me how I out sparkle it?”

Frik: “Of course dear, but be careful, we wouldn’t want anyone else finding our secret hiding place now would we?”

Frak: “Oh, no, it’s perfectly safe. No-one would ever find it in there

Frik: “Well, just be careful, and remember to pull the blue one this time, you remember what happened last time you were in a hurry and pulled the red one?”

Frak: “Oh yes I do, were it not for your amazing heroics it would have certainly meant a terribly agonizing death!

With that, the pixies patted the young unicorn on the horn, and Frak blew it a sweet kiss, before the two of them began an easy flight across the clearing towards the other side of the grove where another path continues on.

Kas -5 + 31 =+26 (-8 from Elesia stopping her spell-“Rage“)
Kas HP: 18/31

Aelistae: Healing Belt 2d8 =5
Aelistae HP: 22/30

Xaris -Cure Moderate wounds 2d8+3 =10
Healing Belt 2d8 = 15
Xaris HP: 50/60

Loriel: Should she allow it
Cure light wounds 1d8+3 -10
Loriel’s possible HP: 36/39

Elesia let her spellsong fade, an could visibly notice Kas’ form slump from the sudden shock to her body. That aside however, the stranger was alive and well given the probable outcome had they not happened upon her in time. “Merciful Tymora you have gifted us with your fortune this day and for that I thank you.” With that, Elesia moved aside the others. "I can bestow a small bit of stamina to any who request it. Nowhere near the power of lady Aelistae here, but I will help in what ways I can."

So it was that not so very far away, completely unawares of the goings on of a man who had shared a courtyard with them but that morning, companions of a different nature were locked in a hearted battle. The bridge had become a battlefield, and lives were now at stake. Aelistae and Barrbarra had taken up bows, with arrows notched and ready to let fly at a moment’s notice. Kas was putting her armor to the test as it ground against the wooden bridge as she fought of her attackers, with Loriel and Moonshadow, alongside Moira had entered into closer proximity to aid the wounded woman. Linnix and Bart, were coping with the added threat of two crossbowman on the other side of the river, while Xaris was fending off trouble of his own. Only Elesia seemed distanced from the battle, but anyone looking closely enough could see she too was locked in concentration, for her will alone kept the woman known as Kas from the verge of death.

Preferring to take their chances with enemies not locked in melee with their companions, both Bartholomew and Linnix took up aim at the sentries furthest away from the clamor on the bridge. With two silent clicks, lost in the sound of combat, the bolts were let loose. Bart’s shot went ridiculously wide, ending the life of a poor unfortunate sparrow flying by minding its own business. Linnix’s however was something of beauty. The bolt slid down the chamber like a sword into a custom scabbard, the bolt parted the air like a king did the masses, and that bolt whistled the sweetest song of death ever heard, before landing betwixt the eyes of a very startled enemy, who was thrown onto his back, dead, before he ever touched ground.
(Well now, rolled a double 20 for the critical, and a 98% on my crit chart well done)

Sentry1

Kas raised up to face the man who had struck her down. He wanted to lash out at her, to give her another beating, but Loriel had his attention now, and he couldn’t afford to spare it to the rising warrior. Ill fortune for him it was for it allowed Kas to strike at him, driving her blade deep into his side, causing him to lower his guard long enough in painful reflections for Loriel to move in and strike him as well. Her fine blade opened his shoulder, weakening his grip upon his Morningstar. Distracted between the two women, and terrorized by the bloody gurgling of his companion who now thrashed like a rag doll in the powerful jaws of Moonshadow, the sentry gave a frantic swing at Loriel, but received nothing but air and pain for his time.

Xaris was busy fending off both of the sentries on the southwestern side of the bridge, his gnomish great sword weaving in deceptively swift movements against his attackers. The men however were not as unskilled as the confident gnome had originally thought either. While flanking the warrior, they attacked him simultaneously, one striking high, the other low, and from opposing angles. Both of the short blades bypassed Xaris’ defense, and both bit into his tender flesh, one under his left armpit, the other up and into his right side thankfully deflected by his ribs. (Xaris 51/60HP) The gnome however was not to be denied his vengeance, and with great finesse brought that great sword down upon Sentry 5 with a world of pain alongside it. The strength of his blow was nearly enough to sever his sword arm, and the limb hung loosely by what few tendons remained, his fingers involuntarily releasing the grip on his blade. (That’s another critical for the good guys!)

Aelistae, finding a target free let fly her arrow, which sank cleanly into the already wounded, and now weaponless sentry, piercing his shoulder from the rear, and dropping the man into dirt.
Barrbarra too knew well her shot, and with unerring accuracy placed an arrow right over Loriel’s left shoulder to strike the Morningstar wielding sentry down, the body falling over the side of the bridge and into the once peaceful waters below.

Seeing their numbers cut down so quickly, the two remaining enemies changed their battle plans rather quickly. Sentry2 gave up and made a direct run at all haste towards the north. (Full movement, 150ft (run feat)) Sentry 6 however took a step back, away from Xaris and his wicked blade, instead reaching into his cloak ripping from his neck a now broken string with 2 small red beads upon it. With some speechless garble he threw the necklace at his feet, and the beads exploded into fireballs which encompassed not only himself, but everyone except for Bart, Linnix, Barrbarra Elesia and their steeds as well in deadly flames.

Fireballs: DC to beat: 14 Damage at stake: 26
Aelistae 17 Xaris 6 Loriel 20 Kas 15 Moonshadow: 14 Moira 21.
In that split second before the flames washed over them, one must ponder what went through their minds. Aelistae quickly turned and rolled, avoiding much of the flames, though they still licked at her flesh. Moonshadow, Kas, Loriel, and Moira all dove for the water on instinct, but when they hit bottom, no cool embrace welcomed them, only hardened earth, as the illusion of a bridge, river, and crossing all faded into reality. The flames washed over Xaris, and the bodies of the fallen foes famished and seeking sustenance upon their lives.

When the smoke had cleared, much of the attackers remains were smoldering, scorched beyond recognition, and blackened stains upon the earth. And there, amongst it all, stood Xaris, who’se hair tips smoldered like a tallow candle, and whose first reply to the ordeal was to simply puff out a ring of smoke to clear his lungs. The gnome’s gear all sustained burn damage, but luckily nothing had been totally ruined. The little fellow though for all his obvious agony, was alive, and still standing of his own accord.

Kas however was another story. The battle injuries coupled with the flames had pushed her body beyond even Elesia’s grasp of maintaining conciousness. The woman’s body lay still amongst the other’s in the middle of the road. Elesia was still locked deep in concentration now, her spell no longer keeping her capable of fighting, but the only thing that was keeping her alive. Sweat rolled off the priestesses face as well, the task of keeping the spell active was taking it’s toll on her. With obvious urgency and added struggle in her voice however she did manage two quick words as she slowly walked by Aelistae. “She‘s dying”

HP: totals:
Kas -5/30 (Elesia’s spell is keeping her at -5 instead of -13)
Aelistae 17/30
Xaris 25/60
Loriel 26/39
Moonshadow: 20/33
Moira: 17/30

(Sentry 2 is at 150ft and fleeing fast, Kas is bleeding out, everyone is pretty rough looking, and the actions are yours to make. Thanks for being patient.)

Nebulos was in quite the predicament. He could feel the acidic fluids within the bell sprout eating away at his skin, as though someone were boiling the flesh from his bones. Through gritted teeth and fierce determination however the old mage was able to sputter out enough semblances of an incantation amidst his struggle to send forth a small ring of fire about his person. The wave of flame burned brightly, licking at the vegetation, consuming it with hunger, and soon the vines and lashing arms were aflame, the bell sprouts burning and enflaming each other in their painful trip to wilted destruction. As the bell sprout that had consumed Nebulos released him and his face was revealed, the once stoic and proud looking warmage now left much for wanting in the looks department. His entire head was a bright red, like he flesh of a freshly cooked tomato, free of blemish or hair, and the old, now very bald mages skin wrinkled as though he had sat in a tub for too long. Every breeze made his face twinge in pain. Selena to her credit turned away, looking intently at the pile of smoldering plantlife before her. Whip however couldn’t contain his delight in his companions embarrassment and let out a hearty laugh at Nebulos’ expense. “I once burned off me eyebrows playin with fire, but ne’er have I heard of a salad getting revenge Ar ar ar hehe hehe!”

Scarlet bent low and reached into a pile of blackened refuse, and pulled forth a worn and severely desiccated remnant of what once was likely a fine earring. Platinum to be sure, though much of it’s value had been lost.

The path continues back to the fork, or continues on along a similarly lush and beautiful path. Twenty yards up ahead however, the path seems to veer off sharply to the right where colorful illuminations can be seen filtering out of the pathway along the trees.

The ship rocked and swayed beneath Katriana’s bare feet, but the agile feline simply swayed in time with the creaking boards beneath her padded feet. The enemy vessel had reared its crude flag denoting piracy, and as it neared, her inner spark of good and justice went off like a silent alarm. Her fur began to stand on end and her nose twitched involuntarily. “This vessel reeks of foulness.” As soon as the vessel had come within 10 feet of their own, Katriana pushed off of the wall of the captain’s quarter’s sending herself into a running charge. With a quick step atop the rail she bent low and pounced across the distance between the two ships, tucking her legs in and landing on all fours continuing in a charge towards a specific target. The worldly feline had encountered pirates before, and though their guise made it hard to distinguish a leader amongst them, she aimed towards the one who seemed most out of place. One with more stature in his pose as though he had seen both stateroom and auction house as well as traveling the high sees, the one whose eyes never stopped moving, though held a cold stare. Towards him she charged, and attacked with all her clawed fury in a vicious swipe.

(I had grugg roll a Skill check for me to see if I would have made the jump, or been posting about a soggy furred kitty… I succeeded so my post reflects that. Grugg I’m making the spot check as discussed, and attacking using my SNA.. You know what that is.)
