One moment Dudley was yammerign on about having a button on his staff and the next he was gone. "Now what has that Cid gotten himself into?" Alondas said to nobody in particular. Seeing as he was not much real use in the fight, Alondas amused himself in what might be his last moments alive by randomly throwing objects at the golems hoping to at least distract them and make them easier targets for his friends.

Alondas failed in his attempt to trip one of the golems and it was becoming clear that in this fight he was not much help. This was a battle that would be determined by muscle and steel, not magic or trickery. Such a fight was not made for a mage so Alondas stepped clear and watched, hoping his companions would win.

Alondas came up with no real options. So he did the best he could, try to distract the iron creatures so the ones who could hurt it had easier shots. Taking aim at the creature attacking Crow he tried to slip his staff between its legs; hoping to trip it.

Charge, magic either or both is good but Sparrow will still be keeping at ranged distance.

Post play does indeed limit the ability to quickly hash out a plan. That I do miss about tabletop play. But, in the end it all works out once we or the creatures are all dead.

We need a "Diet Fireball" spell. Same great effect with half the collateral damage.

"We could simply try to pick off as many as possible from here with ranged weapons. Maybe get them to charge us. At least that way we wouldn't exactly be walking into a trap."

"I agree, were-rats. From the tracks there are many of them and big ones at that. Doesn't seem to be any way to avoid them but at least it will only be fight of their choosing and not a surprise fight of their choosing. Anyone have any ideas how to approach this fight?" Sparrow knew she would be using her bow but others might have some additional ideas. "I wonder how were-rats would react to the presence of a were-bear?"

Subject: Now what

Alondas saw his magic missile bounce off with no apparent damage. Then he saw the physical attacks fail as well. That was not a good sign. Unable to think of anything else to do, he cast protection from evil on himself to at least try to be less of a target while he looked for something that might help.

Hearing that all was safe, or as safe as could be expected given their current location, Sparrow moved forward to have a look at the tracks. Taking care to inspect them carefully, she wracked her brain for any semblance to others she had seen before.

Sparrow looked into the space the darkness surrendered and did not like what she saw. The area was filed with statues, very lifelike statues. It didn't take a genius to put together the statues and the bards tale of basilisks guarding the entrance. "Anyone have an ideas on how to fight something we can't look at?"

Taking a moment to catch her breath, Sparrow looked around and noticed a few things. First, two of her companions looked seriously hurt and they had not even gotten into the cave yet. Second, the sun seemed curiously out of position. It should not have been much past early morning but the sun stood directly overhead. Sparrow knew the fight had not lasted that long so some other explanation was needed; but what? Did the spell move them much further than they realized?

"Looks like we need to find a new way in once we patch ourselves up." Sparrow looked around for any signs of another entrance that might be visible.

Yes a ranged touch attack as you are trying to touch with the whip to allow the shock damage.
