Subject: Battle over

As the last of the bugbears fell, Noctus retrieved his cloak. A quick sniff test revealed a not very agreeable odor. "Alas 'twas a fine cloak and now it smells of vermin. Anyone know a good method to remove bugbear stick?" Noctus had just finished hanging his cloak over the bansiter to air a bit and was about to check the bugbears for useful items when he was asked to check on the prisoner. "Ahh yes, the prisoner. I do believe I heard it may be a 'she'. Perhaps my particular talents would be useful. Let me check." Noctus moved to the sleeping individual and made a check to see if it was indeed female.

Looking into the bag he saw a woman no longer in her prime but who obviously had been very attractive in her youth and still retianed an attractive figure. "Ahh mi'lady. Doest thou slumber in sweet repose alight with pleasent dreams or do vile creatures torment you and fill your mind with nightmares?" Noctus lightly brushed her cheek and looked for any response.

Noctus saw the bugbear before him fall, pierced by arrows. "Many thanks!" Noctus called out as he gave a bow. Then he noticed Peter laying on the ground apperaing rather helpless before a bugbear. Not sure what else to do that would keep the brute from finishing the job, Noctus attempted to cast his cloak over the monsters head hoping to blindfold it or at least distract it for a moment to allow Peter to scramble to safety. Then it was time to attack.

Noctus saw the bugbears rush out of the tent and knew the spell had not gone quite as planned. "One out of four isn't too bad. And you did manage to shut up that whining captive." Noctus nudged Derry in jest as he took up a defensive position in front of him. One of the bugbears charged and from the snear on his face believed Noctus to be an easy target. Others had made that mistake and paid dearly for it. Unencumbered by heavy armor, Noctus easily ducked the attack but was a bit off balance and so his own attacks drew blood but not much more.

"Is that the best you can do? Perhaps I should blindfold myself or tie an arm behind my back to make this a bit more fair. Why even considering that your mother was likely raped by a goblin to spawn one as ugly and smelly as you, your attack was terrible and my grandmother could have dodged it." Noctus taunted his opponent as angry opponents were oftne sloppy and he hoped to take advantage of that. He looked for an opening for his attacks.

OOC: Edited as I mistakenly named Peter not Derry as the mage.

"Ahh a nap for them would be appropriate. Seems only fair to help them sleep off that meal they are having. Why I remember as a lad we used to get cookies and milk and then a nice nap. Those were days."

Subject: a plan of sorts

Noctus listened to Crow's description of the events on the platform. "Perhaps if we can lure them out of the tent our archers can take them out. The real question is if it is better to kill them before they can get back inside or let one open the door for us."

Subject: interesting statues

Noctus looked at the statues; they were the villagers supposedly in need of rescue. It appeared they would need to do more than simply set them free. 'How did they get this way?' he wondered. 'Perhaps a basilick or cockatrice?' That was a most unsettling thought. Then again the thought of something else yet unknown to him was just as unsettling.

He watched as Crow snuck closer to the raised platform. With only large shadows visible from the far end of the garden Noctus could not make out what the tent contained. What he could tell was that whatever they were they were ill-mannered and very large. Certainly not ones to have over for a dinner party though that is what they seemed to be having. Crow moved ever closer and seemed to signal everyone forward. Not keen on getting closer than necessary Noctus moved only about half way to the platform and held there waiting to see how far the others went. Perhaps the archers in the group could find a way to take out the whatever they were.

Noctus was a bit miffed as arrow after arrow took out the Kobolds before him. "Might I ask that you find your own dance partners!" he yelled in the direction of the archers. After getting his chance to melee he found it a great dissapointment. The enemy was not at all skilled and at the end of the fight, if it could be called such, a most curious development robbed him of any plunder. "Ashes to ashes and dust to dust I have heard before. Wax to wax is a new one for me." Looking at the newly fortified building he added, "Seems our adversary is waxing an army while our efforts to enter aare waning. Perhaps a search will reveal a way to eclipse our current problems."

Always good to work in pairs. Just tryign to avoid the center and getting surrounded. No shield and light armor are not good for getting beat upon.

Noctus watched the two start to go around the building and was just about to go after them when things got interesting. Kobolds of all things came rushing to attack them. Crude armor made of shields and poor quality javalins showed them to be their usual poor quality troops. However there were quite a few of them. Not wanting to stand around and be on the receiving end of thrown javalins, Noctus deceided his best bet was to close the gap quickly and rely on his superior swordplay. At least he hoped it was superior swordplay. "Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhh!" he yelled as loudly and fiercly as possible while attempting to get to the left edge of the kobold line; rapier in hand. The plan was to try to work his way inward one kobold at a time from a flank.

Raven, no prob with the charater bickers. I don't take it to heart.

Tann, I never said you should be party leader, simply you should have a say in where you have to check for traps. And a thief might have a better idea of how to sneak in. A thief a party leader?

Subject: conflict or not?

Noctus shook his head wondering why everyone seemed to take evry statement personnaly. As Crow moved to teh door, Noctus moved to Brandr so they could talk in private. "It was not you I was worried about attacking us on accident but rather that any of us could make a mistake. You are from the north and in your lands my comment might have been an insult, that much is true. Were we there I would not have made it. But we are not there and you must adapt to customs here. The plan you proposed is a great one if we know there is a single enemy group and we can surprise it. However we do not know what is in there and so it is likely that we will be surprised and not them, especially if they heard that loud blast. They could be expecting us. What if you run into a spellcaster? Without one of our own it could be bad. And if we trip a booby trap because we have not thief? I for one like having you around to watch my back, I may be good with my sword but I have not eyes in the back of my head." Noctus offered his hand, "Friends?"

Subject: a plan

"Ahh the old divide and be conquered plan. One of my personal favorites and I employ it often. Of course I tend to try and get my enemies to do the dividing and me the conquering. Interestingly enough it seems to work just as well on young ladies as it does monsters. Since we have no idea of what or how many 'things' there are I think we should stick together. It also cuts down the chance of us accidentally attacking each other in the heat of the moment. As for the method of entry I would suggest that since Crow will be the one to put himself at risk clearing the way for the rest of us that we allow him to choose the route."

Noctus returned to the others when he noticed the tunnel was complete. With rapier in hand he went under the wall. Once on the other side he pulle dout a piece of parchment. "During the course of our 'conversation' the lass was kind enough to provide a map of sorts. My 'swordplay left her much impressed. She has her own considerable 'talents' and was eager to return the favor. If her services in this regards to the map as half as good as her other services I can attest to it being a very good map." He shared the map with the others. "Her indication was that most of the villagers were in the ballroom."

Noctus moved the opposite direction of the wagon but did try to point the driver to a secluded spot away from the diggers and crowd.

As for weapons and such, Noctus would never go anywhere without his sword, armor, hat and cape. Would be unseemly to be seen in "common dress".
