Topic: Garayon - Reign of Darkness
Subject: OK, break it up folks

Billy nods to Thors and turns to Karl, "If you wouldn't mind, could you help me ge the poor widow back into the kitchen? Seeing all this isn't going to do her any good. Is there a town constable or someone in charge who can help make sense of this whole thing?" Billy waits a moment for Karl's responses. In the mean time he simply moves slowly closer to the innkeeper's wife, trying to shield her view with his body.

Topic: Garayon - Reign of Darkness
Subject: An uneasy crowd

Billy glanced around and saw the crowd was getting a bit antsy. Not that he could blame them; for all appearances it was very obvious what had happened. He also knew from the last few days that the obvious was not necessarily the truth. "Blasted mages and their tricks. Again it seems only magic could be to balme for what has transpired." he mumbled to himself. There were several men with weapons scattered about the room; too many for his liking. He also noticed a few of the braver folks beginning to move as if to try and capture Siliwen.

Not exactly sure what else to do, Billy moved close to Siliwen and waited. He hoped someone would find a way to disperse the crowd or there would be more blood on the floor than that of the barkeep. No one was going to touch Siliwen without going thru him first. Anyone who looked at him would have no doubt that another step towards his companion would be taken at their own risk.

Billy took in the scene before him and had two thoughts; how did it happen and who missed Siliwen going downstairs whiel they were on watch. He heard Thor suggest "clearing the place out" and that sounded like a good idea. "I agree we should get the folks out and the body moved but exactly how do we get them out? It isn't like we can just pick them up and carry them out. Well actually I could but that would probably not be good. Who had watch when this happened? I know she didn't come past me on my watch."

Subject: Nightfall

Billy quickly skinned the wolves and tied the raw hides to his pack. Hopefully he could find a tanner later or tan them himself.

The trip was uneventful and Billy was glad to see an inn at nightfall. Hearing that they had food was even more exciting. "I will have a plate of whatever the cook recommends." Billy said to the innkeeper. After dinner Billy pulls out his steel and begins taking care of his sword while relaxing by the fire. Whenever it is timw for bed he will go with the others after suggesting that they share rooms and set watches even though they are in an inn for trouble seemed to be following them lately.

Subject: Question

Is there a review process for benefits? I mean, if a 80 year old man needed a heart transplant is it possible the government insurance woudl say "no, you are too old and it isn't worth the money to do it"?

Managed care always has the potential to limit inovation and foster an attitude of mediocrity is fine. I mean, in fee for service systems if you are the top heart surg you can charge more $$ for your experience and might look for new ways to do things to earn more $$. If the government sets a fixed fee for all heart surg's you are unlikely to work extra hard or longer hours to be the best.

"Pay they will Alea. Would serve them right if the remaining wolves found them tonight. Would it be alright if I skinned the dead wolves quickly before we leave? At least they can offer us pelts to keep warm and not have died for nothing; but I understand if you wish me not to also."

Subject: Mages, go figure

"I mean no disrespect for you have done nothing but good for us since we met but mages are often sneaky tricksters who do not attack directly but rather thru illusions. Could the stranger have been a mage controlling the beasts and playing tricks on your mind? I will do what I can to keep you safe; mages seem to dislike being confronted by large men with sharp objects so maybe my presence will be a deterent." Billy looked a bit worried that his words would be taken wrong but he had never been a great speaker. "Whatever or whoever did this knows we are here. If we take to the woods we might get lucky and hide from it but we might also be playing into its hands for it comtrols beasts of the woods. On the road at least we can make good time and the open space may allow us a bit of warning of any attacks."

I managed to get a very nice view of the red moon and then the eclise. A friend of mine invited me to go flying to see it. Very cool to be in a small plane watching it.

Billy gathered up his backpack and prepared for travel. As he did he noticed that Siliwen looked rather shaken and so he moved closer to her. "I think it is safe now. The wolves have all gone and the strange man I saw fled also."

Subject: futile effort perhaps

Billy arrived just in time to hear Alea asking about trying to heal the injured wolf. "I do not object to trying to help where we can but this one might be beyond help. Unless I am wrong, it's spine is broken and at best it would be a cripple. It could not hunt or run with the pack. I am not sure if healing it would be a blessing or a curse to it."

Subject: Coward

Billy slowed to a trot as he watched the man turn into a wolf-like creature and turn tail. "Run you coward! Have you no honor?" Billy turned and saw Thor nearby. "Did you see that? The cursed mage ran away. Just like them to use others to do what they themselves cannot do. Ugly thing it turned into. Not sure if it was a wolf-man or man-wolf. Never saw anything like that before." After a moment Billy realized that with Thor and him here there was no fighter left to help the others. "We have to see if the others are OK." With that he turned and ran back to the party.

Subject: A stranger

Billy swung and missed teh passing wolf and found his sword buried in the dirt. 'That will certainly take the edge off and need fixing later.' he thought to himself. As he pulled his sword free he noticed two thing; first, the wolves continued to ignore the fighters and second, a strange man was standing a short distance away. He realized that the others probably could not see the man for he himself could barely see him over the bushes. He watched for a moment and saw the man never moved and seemed focused on the party. Then Billy noticed the eyes, red and firey like those of the wolves. "Blasted, sneaky mage!!" Billy roared as he charged at the stranger, intent on doing the one thing he knew would stop a mage: sever his head.

Subject: Smart wolves?

From the corner of his eye, Billy caught sight of the dwarf flipping a wolf over hs head. "Nice move, you will have to show me that sometime." he yelled to Thor.

Billy was about to move towards the injured wolf when several more appeared from the bushes. Strange indeed they seemed to comletely ignore the fighters but focused on one behind them. "Something is not right here. These wolves are acting very unwolfy, or wolfish or wolfesque. Bah, they are just plain acting strange." Billy turned to the nearest wolf and swung his sword. He would do what he could to protect the others. "At least they die, that is a plus."

OOC: sorry for the early post, guess I was excited by the excelletn story so far.

Subject: Oh my aching back

Billy squeezed and the wolf scrathced and bit. One sought to rip the throat from its enemy; the other to break a back in two. Soon a sickly crackling noise eminated from the wolf and its struggles ceased. Billy dropped the lifeless carcass at his feet and looked around. The dwarf was well engaged with one wolf and interference in his fight would steal his honor so Billy sought out the injured wolf. If no other wolves were nearby he would put the injured beast out of its misery.

Topic: Garayon - Reign of Darkness Q&A
Subject: conditional posts

I would vote for conditional posts (esp if you at the bottom of the initiative list). In order posts can rally slow things down if the top folks cannot post right away. The other way I have seen it done is everyone posts what they intend to do and then if their action is no longer possible they have no action that round (a round is only 6 sec so it is very realistic that if your targeted oppenent is suddenly killed by an arrow you might not get in another action other than searching for a new opponent)

Subject: a nice hug

Billy ignores the wolf that is obviously injured and focuses the one that is trying to tear out his throat. Unable to bring the blade of his sword to bear on the wolf he instead places the pommel square in the wolf's back, between the shoulder blades, and squeezes the beast in a bear hug. His plan is to either suffocate the beast or break its back.

Subject: solid defense

Billy takes stock of the situation; two wolves stare at him with teeth bared. Any attack would leave him open for a counter and he did not wish to give the wolves an easy opening. Once more Billy took up his familiar defensive stance; sword held high waiting for the correct moment to strike. He would allow the wolves to come to him. "Come on and get me if you can. I could use a new cloak!"

"Give the horses some slack in their thether and they can defend themselves. Besides, a panicked horse in our circle could be a bigger problem than the wolves." Billy looked to the dwarf, "A fine plan my friend, the three of us should be able to keep most of the wolves at bay."

Subject: Wolves huh?

Billy strained to catch a glimpse of the black dots on the horizon. "Ahh I see them, what are they?", he no sooner asked than a sharp eyed companion identified them as wolves. They were headed towards the party and not in a good way. "We should try to forma circel with those who are good at close fighting around the others. Wolves tend to attack lone prey. If we stick together and show a solid defense they may leave us alone."

Billy looked around the shop in the small town. He needed little and settled on several days of trail rations, a length of rope and a few flasks of oil. After paying the owner he waited for the others.

Soon the rest of the party was ready and they set out. After a day of travel they finally set camp for the night. Billy had pulled his watch and was fast asleep when he heard a scream. Instantly awake, he grabbed his sword and scanned for enemies. Finding none, he looked around a bit confused.

I hate when someone wants to bring in such an underpowered character. I mean, 5 rounds to kill a god; shouldn't take more than 3 using your lackey.
