Could we move slightly to an area that the arrows cannot target us?  Not exactly sure what the terrain looks like

Hornet saw his bolt strike true, wounding the gnoll but also enraging it.  Perhaps it was a mistake as the gnoll broke the web and charged.  Once more it seemed rapier was prefered over crossbow.  To save time, Hornet dropped his crossbow rather than sling it and drew his rapier.  It was then that arrows from inside the tunnel stuck him.  Apparently whatever was in there was getting organized.  Doing his best to keep the gnoll between him and the tunnel as a shiled, Hornet attacked with his rapier.

Hornet looked around and saw the group was in pretty good shape.  Soledad was protected and only two goblins remained in combat.  The web was holding so far and those held fast in its grip would be easy targets.  Returning his rapier to its sheath he turned once more to the crossbow and sent a bolt towards the gnoll stuck in the web.

If everyone who can attacks the goblin on Solidad and kill it she should be free to move without getting attacked.  Even if she is attacked as she backs up it would probably be better than standing her ground in the melee fight.

Last round is over. Hornet is hoping that next round you will move to close the gap as Soledad moves back. You can move, take an action and take one bonus action per round in any order.

Combat was rejoined quickly as the creature poured from the tunnel mouth.  Arrows and bolts pierced flesh and the enemy ranks thinned just a bit.  A brand new web engulfed more of the foe and removed the from the fight for the moment.  All seemed to be going well until Soledad cried out in pain.  One of the goblins struck a blow that staggered the witch ; she could not take many such wounds.  "Soledad, step back!  Dok, Thaoran close ranks and protect her!"  Hornet dropped his crossbow and drew his rapier.  For now he would attack the goblin in front of him

OOC I noticed I could not really get to the goblin in front of Soledad this round.

Hornet easily withdrew from the fight with the clumsy goblin and made his way out of the tunnel into the fresh air.  Making his way to cover he knocked a bolt and watched the entrance.  In moments a goblin appeared and a bolt found its mark.  That was the good news.  The bad news was that several goblins appeared and behind them came a pair of gnolls.  Goblins were not much of a threat but the gnolls could be another story.  "Target the gnolls!  They are the greatest danger and if we kill them the goblins may flee!"  Hornet sent a bolt flying towards a gnoll and then disappeared back into cover.

OOC:  If a spell targets a gnoll Hornet will target the same one.  If not he will aim at the lead gnoll.  Bonus action: Hide

Nice.  Maybe we should target the gnolls first if we stay and fight

Your character sheet will list bonus actions.  Disengage is the one that allows you to break from a fight without the enemy getting an attack of opportunity.

Just FYI from Tann's last post Silver moved into the tunnel before Hornet and Thoaran so she would technically be the lead individual.  Her abilities would allow same retreat option as Hornet.

Hornet will use his thieving ability to perform bonus action of disengage to break contact and then use regular action to retreat.  So if he wins initiative he would be able to escape without the goblin getting an attack.  If he loses initiative the goblin gets its regular attack and then Hornet moves away instead of attacking.  Either way there is no attack of opportunity for the goblin

Ghalahn sat quietly as the others discussed the upcoming plans.  He knew he would be taking on the bounty job but he waited to see who else would go along.  Fixer expressed some doubt about his usefulness on the mission and a plan for those who scored kills to donate half teh bounty to the group general fund and keep the other half.  "Putting half the bounty toward a group fund makes sense.  However I am not fond of the idea of each person getting the other half of the bounty personally for each kill.  We work as a group and everyone that goes will have a job.  We all share the risk and we should all share the reward.  I suggest the other half be divided equally by everyone who goes. "

Actually Hornet gets "cunning action" as a bonus action which allows dash, hide or disengage.  He could use it to run without offering a attack of opportunity. Basically he would disengage as a bonus then move freely as an action.

A few more goblins fell to the blades of the party but then the real enemy raised its head.  The smoke made it hard to breath and Hornet felt himself getting dizzy from lack of oxygen.  "Perhaps it is time to return to the outdoors.  If we stay here we will die from the smoke rather than the goblins.  If it is that bad for us it should also force them to flee as well.  Looks like we are back to the origional plan of waiting at the entrance."  Hornet used his thief skils to back away from the attackers, turned and moved back to the opening of the tunnel, sheathed his rapier and readied his crossbow once more.

OOC: Bonus action of disengage then action of full move to the entrance

The plan worked as expected; but only for a few moments.  The expected paniced mass exodus of goblins did not come to fruition.  In fact the creatures fled back into the tunnel and burned away the web.  Surprise had been lost, the smoke was drifting into the tunnel and the goblins were alerted to the presence of the party.  "It seems we are destined to press the attack into the lair of the vile creatures.  Thaoran, draw your blade and follow me.  Dancing lights might give us an advantage in the dark tunnel.  The time has come for close combat."  Hornet drew his rapier and made his way into the tunnel.  His elven vision would hopefully allow him to find the goblins in the darkness,

OOC:  Hornet will move as an action and hide as bonus action.

Hornet can try to add one more load of wet leaves now that the web is down and more smoke can get in.  Not sure if anything more than another 10 minutes is worthwhile   We have lost surprise unless we back away and watch the opening and attack tomoorrow when they think we are gone

Hornet gathered sticks to start a fire and once it was lit, he tossed on a heap of wet leaves. Smoke rose in a dense cloud and then propelled by magic wind it drifted into the tunnel. Knocking a bolt, Hornet stepped back and waited to see what might emerge.
