My thought would be those with melee weapons only stand to both sides of the door, those with missile weapons stand at missile range.  Hornet can make a fire and throw on wet leaves to make smoke. When it is ready he will open teh door and the magic folks can control wind to make teh smoke go inside.  Web spell over the door would be a nice touch.  As the bad things run out the melee folks whack them and any that do not drop right away get hit with missiles as well.  Thoughts?

So it looks like the two main options so far are:

1.  Go in and attack (using web to help)

2.  Try to smoke them out and kill them as they flee (using magic to control the smoke)

I would say we give option 2 a try  Please post your thoughts with a running total to help the DM.  Of course feel free to add an option if you wish

Option1 : 0

Option 2: 1

After scouting the door, Hornet returned to the group and told them what he had found.  "I have no idea what the writing says but it is old.  The pile of rubble next to the wooden door suggests that someone or somthing broke the stone door and replaced it with a wooden one.  I could hear voices inside but they were too far away to get any idea of what they were saying or the number of speakers but it was more than one or two.  IWe could try smoking them out with a fire but that is kind of tough if the wind doesn't blow just right.  If we move in quickly we could take them by surprise.  Of course we might run into more than we bargined for but that course of action would be my suggestion.  Fighters first, then magic users them those of us with ranged weapons in the back so we can shoot and guard the rear incase anything else comes in behind us."

No post from me as Ghalan has nothing new to go on for the job and is just listening at the table.

It was time to scout the door.  "Silver and I will sneak up to the door from opposite sides.  If it is unguarded, I will move to the door while Silver covers me.  I'll try to listen to see if anything is inside and then if there is time I will check it for traps and then for it being locked.  If locked I will try to pick the lock.  If I fail, Silver and I will swap places and she will try it.  We won't open the door but will return with news of what we found so we can move in as a group."

Hornet enjoyed his banter with Boris.  Some questions were answered fairly directly; others were left to interpretation.  But, such is the way of the fey.  One never really could get simple answers from them.  In the end, Hornet came away a little wiser about what dwelled in the area around the river and now had a way to contact Boris in the future.  "I thank you for your willingness to teach a young elf like me.  It is true that most of my kind would have pondered the questions I had; perhaps for eons before thining to ask them.  Maybe that is why I travel in the world of men and not of elves.  I wish to gain much knowledge and for that one must be unafraid to ask.  Hopefully we will meet again one day Boris."

With the party refreshed they headed out following Boris.  It was not an easy trek and Hornet was glad they had a guide or it would have been even more difficult.  With nothing wlse to do along the way, Hornet talked to Boris.  "Boris, I was wondering; are there others like you around here?  By that I mean either talking otters or other versions of whatever kind of being you are.  Please don't take that as an insult; I am just not sure exactly what you are.  How old are you?  How did you come to be in this section of the river?  Is there a way we could find you again if we wanted to visit you?"  After much walking the party arrived at the spot Boris indicated led to the entrance to the goblin lair.  "Perhaps we should scout a bit before we walk up to the door.  I suggest Silver and I sneak up there to have a look and listen.  Then we can come back and all make a plan for entry.  Would you be willing to accompany me Silver?"

We can take two but as a thief Hornet has a good chance to hide and move quietly alone.  But backup is fine also.

Hornet is willing to try to sneak up to the door, listen for any noise, check for traps, see if it is locked (try to unlock if necessary) and maybe take peek inside.  What do you all think?

It seemed everyone was in agreement that rest would be a good idea. "So the plan is to get some rest and recover spells.  Boris will do his own thing while we rest and then meet us back here.  Then we will head out to find the goblins."

The otter had an interesting story and seemed friendly enough.  After a bit he even offered to guide them to the golin lair.  It seemed that luck was on their side for the moment.  Thäoran voiced the idea that the "fool in the red cap" mentioned by the otter might be the leader of the group that took the children.  It made sense; how many red cap wearing goblins could there be?  "I say we a take Boris up on his offer.  It is the best lead we have. "

"Hey everyone, I got more info on the job from the Cree-metal.  Seems a group of wannbe netrunners calling themselves The Tychoons have been a bit of a thorn in their side.  They would like us to send them a message.  When we send a message it isn't a mean e-mail if you catch my drift.  It is up to us to find these idiots, let them know the Cree-Metal are not amused and ensure the message is delivered.  Personally, I find it hard for a corpse to cause trouble and most of my alt-cult would agree so this is gonna be a fast, hard and messy hit.  Hopefully we can catch them as a group.  Cipher, Blossum I am sending you a digital footprint we captured.  Can you find them and where they are hiding?  Those interested will make a plan to deliver the message once we know where they are.  Each Tychoon that is eliminated is worth 2,000c.  So who wants in on the job?"

Ghalahn would vote to have Vegas take over again as leader.  He will share the all info on the contract with him and then in character will give the rest of the group the required info.

"A most interesting tale master otter; or should I say Boris?"  Hornet smiled at the otter and sheathed his dagger.  "I am known as Hornet for I am protective of my home and can pack a sting.  Sorry about the wariness but one can never be too careful especially in these times.  As for how we have come to be here at this moment I shall let one of the others answer that."

Hornet felt no remorse as his dagger slit the throat of the sleeping bugbear.  There was no chivalry in this fight.  As he wiped his dagger clean on the tattered rags of his fallen enemy, he saw the otter had been cut free and was conversing with the rest of the group,  A talking otter was certainly unusual but was it truely an otter?  Didn't his own companion turn into a hound to help in tracking?  Could the otter be another shape-shifter?  Just because the bugbear had captured it sis that mean it was safe to set it loose?  Hornet pondered these questions.  Pulling out his whetstone, he repaired teh edge on his blade more to keep it handy just incase it was needed than because it needed it.  For now he would watch and listen.
