Topic: A Town Called Durloch
Subject: Boring

Wiz waited a very long time, at least for him so probably about 3 minutes, before deciding this waiting was rather boring. He took out a couple of small bean bags and began to practice his juggling. He had seen it done a few times and it had not looked very hard. Unfortunatley he seemed to have a bit more of a challenge than he expected. Soon beanbags were flying in all directions, sometimes landing on the floor and others on the bed. It seemed the only place they didn't land was his hands. One of the beanbags found its way onto an overhead beam well out of Wiz's reach. Looking a bit dejected Wiz focused on teh offending beanbag, "Bad beanbags, can you not just come down here in my hand". At that moment the beanbag seemed to almost move of its own volition and fell off the beam right into Wiz's open hand. "Now thats better" Wiz went back to practicing without any marked improvement.

Subject: On our way

Wiz rode happily in the wagon, there were lots of interesting people to talk to and many items left lying around that he figured he should hang on to until finding its proper owner. Funny that none of them were claimed by the time the trip was over. "Some folks are just careless" he thought to himself. The only disturbing part of the trip was when it was announced that there were to be less parties in the near future. Not that it mattered, there were many other ways to pass the time.

One the group of new recruits, what exactly a recruit is and how he became one was a bit fuzzy to Wiz but so far it seemed fun, reached town the were fed and then a kind of ugly fellow who was certainly not a fun type called out names and group numbers. Then it was up to the recruits to find their group. Upon finding his group, Wiz was intrigued, there certainly was a varied group. Moving into the room they had been assigned Wiz saw the sets of bunkbeds, "OK, I don't care which set of bunks I take but I do need the bottom bunk. I can barely reach those, the top bunk is just not a good idea for one of my height." As he set out his kit, someone reminded the group that a leader was needed. Taking out a piece of jerky, Wiz hopped up on his bed and readied himself for the discussion he was sure would follow. He was a bit surprised when it was but forth that the half-orc, another of the not very good looking fellows, was suggested. "Will he find us interesting jobs? I only want to do interesting jobs. The guard thing sounds boring; doing the same thing over and over, that is booooring." Wiz took another bite of jerky, "make sure you keep track of your stuff, there were alot of items lost on our trip here." As he laid them out he added "See, I found all these on the trip and this one over here (a small dagger) was just lying around in the room earlier. Good thing I found it or it would still be lost." He tucked it into his belt and took another bite of jerkey.

Subject: Wiz physical

Just so everyone has an idea:

Wiz is slightly portly at nearly 75 pounds and standing only 3'6" tall. His red hair is tied in a ponytail and he has hazel eyes that weems to shift between green and brown depending on the lighting. He wears a loose orange shirt and brown knee length pants. Well constructed boots are the most cared for of his clothes. He carries a quarter staff with a sling attachment and a single dagger is tucked into his waist. His backpack is filled with various "wonderful" items.

Can I change out the light crossbow and staff for a single sling staff? Used as a reg staff but also able to throw sling bullets? A very "kender" type items that should fit him nicely.

Just so the group knows I am going to be playing a Cidal (Kender) sorceror.

When he was just a young lad, Keldric began to notice that he was differant than the other Cidal. Not so much in manners as he loved anything shiny, was distracted by teh slightest novel thing but rather in that he seemed more lucky than his friends. At times it seemed that his wishes came true and unlikely events often occurred just when he needed them to happen. As he got older, the other Cidal began to call him Wiz as he was a wiz at getting out of tight spots. Soon he began referring to himself as Wiz and that has been his name ever since. He still has not figured out exactly why he is so lucky and why his wishes at times come to pass but he certainly takes advantage of it. Since his village has become rather boring he deceided it was time to wander the world and see what exciting and exotic things he could find.

Perhaps he offended a wizard who cast a spell on him so that he actually believes he is human and even sees himself as human in mirrors; everyone else still sees his true nature.

Do you have anything along the idea of a kender mage. Kind of bumbling and never really sure if the spell he thinks he is casting is going to come out right and totally infatuated with any item of magic?

Role play I can do; that is the reason I play. Rules are just there to keep things in balance. If you shoot me a character I can certainly gen a backstory.

Subject: Interest

I'd be interested in playing. I have no experience with 3.5 so I would need a bit of assistance. As for charater, I am good with anything so if you would gen up a character that you think rounds out the group when it is together that would be much appreciated. I tend to play along the lines of dwarven clerics but a switch would be nice.

Subject: why?

As a male player who tends to play both make and female characters, there is a good reason I do not choose female fighters; they are limited in strength and that is the prime fighter attribute. I have played several female rangers and spell casters. I did play a female fighter once but that was with a DM that gave me a bonus to initiative rolls in the first round of combat as no "girl" would be a fighter (she used light armor, well concealed). I find female can come in handy for thieves as well; especially if you have a high charisma.

Arymeith looked at the paper without expression. "Well it seems your letter of introduction seems to be in order. If you follow me we can get you set up." With a wink to show she would not betray the secrecy of the letter she turned and led him upstairs.

"Verkoth, I believe this elf has some business with you. I would suggest seeing him immediately." she said in a hushed tone while slipping the letter discretely on teh table in front of him. Having done so she drew back and kept an eye on the 'gentlemen' at the aforementioned table. As she did, she thought to herself, 'this could get rather interesting'.

Arymeith watched as the candidates somewhat grudgingly formed not so much a line as an ordered blob. Even that did not last long before a few tried to push their way ahead of others. 'mindless brutes' she thought to herself. Suddenly her thoughts were interupted by one of the other agents shoving her aside to make hi way past her. He had no more gotten the first part of his insult out than Arymeith and the agent noticed an elf stand up from a nerby table. A glowing hand put the agent on the defensive and he quickly scampered away.'thats right run from magic you coward' she thought. Hearing that that the elf was here on business peeked her interest. "Well met. My name is Arymeith, may I enquire as to yours?" She waited a bit for a reply and then added. "Who is it you seek tonight? Mayhaps I can be of assistance."

Arymeith nodded to her master. "I'll go. I'll bet half of them think I am your slave. It is always fun to watch the muscle bound idiots trip over themselves in a rush to get hired. It is even more fun seeing the expression on their face when it is me that calls them forward." Making her way down the stairs, taking great pains to lean on the handrail more than she really needed to, she took up a spot in the common room. "Those who wish to interview can line up now. There will be no pushing, shoving or otherise making specticals of yourselves. Anyone caught trying to but in line will be dismissed, anyone not following my istructions will be dismissed and anyone who has a problem with that can take it up with the dwarf. It is not worth my effort to show you out of the inn." Arymeith waited until the job seekers did as she bid them then sent them upstairs one at a time to have their interview. In the meantime she took a good look at the group hoping at least a few of them had some brains.
