Trillion whirled at the first crackle of laugther. She spotted the two figured emerging from teh woods surrounding Mora's parent's farm.

Reciting the ancient words of her chosen the spell she cast fireball (11d6) targeted not exactly on the woman herself, in case she might resist such a spell, but rather to a spot not far from her so she would be caught in the area of effect.

This harridan wanted the girl with Mora, Trillion ws equally adamant that the woman would not get her

Isilifeleen let the girl eat in the relative peace of the mess hall. Relative only in that no one was commanding them to to something tight at this minute. That was one of the things that made her think twice before accepting the teaching position at the Academy for such it was in fact. That and she had access to many other well trained staff that she could learn from.

"Where are you from, here about or further afield." Isilifeleen asks conversationally.

It was a goodly stream that flowed lazily on the chilly morn. Brianna found a shallow bank that lead to a sand spit left from spring waters near a bend in the stream. She quickly stripped down to just a chain holding a dagger stapped to her leg, and slipped full length into stream. It was coldly refreshing as she swam a few lengths and then moved to the shallower part of the stream near her clothes she used sand to scrub herself with especially her hands and feet. Then she submerged herself yet again scrubbing her hair with her hands, and just enjoyed floating on her back.

Brianna could have imagined that the feminine voices of her companions were Amazons and they had the day off before Autumn Harvest Day. Only they weren't and Brianna's practicality wouldn't let her pretend that they were. None-the-less they were good people. She turned around and watched the others bathe and enjoy the invigorating cold water.

When Brianna hears Lorae call out to them that she had breakfast for them, she rises from the stream she slips on a silk short chiton and gathers her gear. Among her own folk she would not have even bothered with donning her chiton.

Brianna first caught a whiff of bacon drifting from camp. She quicken her step and strides into there overnight campsite to see. Devon and Lorae were setting out food.

"AH good Breakfast."

"We can just walk to the well and tir of one rope and leave it there for out return. THough I iwll hsk the Innkeeper if he could send someone out the every couple of hours or so to scheck if the rop is still there."

Isilmiri will then step over to the innkeeper and tell he what she would like him to just to be on the safe side..

When Isilmiri finished the last page of the journal, carefully reading it as she copied it. she excused herself to the others and headed up for bed, Isilmiri decided to sleep/meditate on some of the things she has been thinking about, especially her thought that the Mage/Sage was behind this whole thing somehow.

Rising in the morning Isimiri join her companions for breakfast as they finalized their plans to explore the tunnel at the bottom of the well. she shared her thought on the matter.

"I want to share with you the idea I had. I have nothing to prove the truth of it but some of what has happen could be pieces to a different situation."

"In a nutshell I think this could have more to do with the old Mage/Sage and that he is responsible for these monthly deprivations on this village. That would mean he would have to have a long life or made it long. however when I read that bit in the journal about him soon achieving some piece and quiet, and the fact that he disappeared and his tower did too virtually overnight, and now the underground tunnel in the well. My speculation is that he made and underground sanctuary for himself. Since he needed supplies and not being the sociable type he just got some lizardmen to pick up the tribute monthly. I am offering this as a possiblity not a probability," Isilmiri concludes

Isilifeleen waits until the Lycan draw closer. She listens to the young female's apology,

"No offense was meant, therefore none was taken. I felt strongly about what he had just said. War does not solve the problems that start them and thus I spook out. It is something I have a tendency to do. I did not mean to interrupt, but after I realized it did disturb your exchange. Forgive me, for that."

I am Isilifeleen, I hope you will share you name with me."

(Repsonse)

"Please join me. I find it much nicer to share an convivial conversation at breakfast or actually any meal since the fare offered is less that stellar." Isilifeleen says with a wry grin at Lakota. Almost makes me want to go out on a field exercise and eat some of my own cooking."

Isilifeleen had already selected from the choice of food offered for breakfast. It was nothing more than simple simple, sustaining fare. Isil chose the grain porridge, added a dollop of honey and a splash of cream and had cut up apple bits into the bowl as well. She also took a hunk of bread and cheese and filled a tankard with cider.

She was not really paying attention to much going on about her but her sensitive ears caught a change in the tone of on going conversations, there was a momentary lull and then gradually picking up again.

Isilifeleen looked up to see what had cause that lull. The young Lycan from this morning had just entered the mess hall. For a moment she wonder what it was lice to be the odd one out. Empathizing with the girl she stood up and if the Lycan sees her she will motion for the girl to join her.

Siliwen ceases her frantic struggle for now, It is not time yet. she turns to look at how her friends were doing. Hoping that they can live through this. Hoping to be set free. But she says nothing to disturb there actions.
She had seen Alea's arrow burst into flame before it even reached the maleficent unnatural remnant of a being. Neither would he incite it to angry at her.

Oh it was hard so hard this waiting and not knowing, Only have words in her head to guide her.

What if they were false. How would she know. Siliwen had been tested by some other until Alacarn had given her the amulet. What if the amulet was failing her in the presences of this great evil. Only the voice was not that of the mad creature before her. She had to trust in something. The voice had come to her after she had prayed to Corellon. Perhaps even in this strange world he could reach her, or one of his avatars.

Siliwen's eyes were focused on that grotesque parody of humanity before her, the shard clearly in view, the lurid red glow tinting her very flesh red.

Brianna's recent years of a rather rough life had made her a light sleeper and she would wake quickly enough when something set off her senses. With Flame, Shadowbane and Soronuume's big cat, she figured the humans would be well warned if strangers approached their camp.

Uncurling herself from her bed roll and stood up and stretched. limbering up her muscles She got up set the fire going with a few small logs. To the others awakening with the coming of morning she called out

"I'm going to take a wash in the creek. Anyone want to join me?"

Not that she really looked forward to a cold wash, but she would wash regardless. Amazons were not barbarians.

"Flame, are you coming with me or staying?"

Topic: Garayon - Reign of Darkness
Subject: Siliwen's Hopes Rise.

Siliwen’s flinch from the twisted beings, was more instinctive than thought out. She wished she had been able to just stand there before him proud and fearless. But she was still wobbly on her feet. How was she going to be able to finish the mission. She was alone with no one to help her. She did not know how she would get free to act, nor if she could get free what she could do to destroy the Shard. One thing she knew very clearly, this was the Shard of Evil that has caused all the evil that plagues this world.

The distorted creature appeared more like some fiend from the Abyss, it’s maniacal laughter ringing her ears helped her though. Alcarn said she would know what to do. The voice, while she had been unconscious. had said she could. Siliwen fought to remember those words. What were they again. They seem to float just out of her reach. Corellon aid me. Let me remember. Then the words can to her

"Siliwen," he said in a pleasant yet strong tone, "you have been through much to come this far... but soon you will face the end of your journey. You will be tested beyond anything you have endured and if you wish to save your friends and the lives of countless people on this world, you must make a personal sacrifice that only you can choose to make. In the end, remember the ring and watch for the glow. A sign will tell you when you must act; when you see it, act fast or lose all hope!"

Taking heart Siliwen stood up a little straighter marshaling her strength. Focus, Siliwen focus on that Shard.

"Come on Siliwen, focus on your chance. Wait for the sign." She told herself while another voiced whispered to her. What chance? To do what while you are chained to the wall? What sacrifice? Haven’t you sacrificed enough?

Hold strong or let go, which path would she choose?

The reality of her situation weighed on her spirits. She was held captive; her friends Alea, Billy, Riddle and Thorndil were lost, or dead. There were the dwarves including Thon and Thrumdil who had given their lives as well and she could not forget, and the Shona, and Bin, all had given their lives so she could end this reign of darkness. So it was, she could count on no one but herself to finish the mission. That had been made clear by Alcran when they first accepted this mission. If she died, if she failed to reach this point, all was lost. Now here she was strung up in manacles and chain to the wall. Alone, no one to see if she gave up or carried on, no one but herself, and who and what she was and believed herself to be. And that was it. There was no other choice for her since there was no one else to do what she could do, even if they were here with her. If the people of this world were to ever be free of this evil shard, she had to carry on. If her friend’s lives were to have any meaning then she had to carry on. Her belief in doing what is right and good made her choice clear. Siliwen would do what she had to and could do, to the even beyond the limits of her ability and if necessary to the limit of her life.

Siliwen took heart in her choice. She took heart in the Voice that had come to her after she Prayed to Corellon. She began as surreptitiously as she could to curl her hands up and tightly as she could and see if she could free her hands, up to and including blooding her hands so that the blood might help her slide her hands out. While she did she took stock of what it was that she could do to possibly destroy that shard of evil that had twisted this creature’s natural form into this insane parody of life, She had her own strength, her intellect, her magic with only a few spells left to her of an offensive nature, her dagger. No, it those simple things could have worked then anyone could do this.. It had to be something else, but what, what, she racked her mind.

What was it the Voice had said just at the end. Siliwen shakes her head clear. It was not the part about the Sacrifice but after that.

Ah yes , “…remember the ring and watch for the glow. A sign will tell you when you must act; when you see it, act fast or lose all hope!"

The Ring! It had to be the ring, the ring that had pointed her here all the time. The ring that had lead her here was perhaps the very tool needed to destroy the shard. But was she to channel magic through it or perhaps touch the ring to the shard. It could be the ring, but she did not know for sure, that was her overwhelming frustration. The lurid glowing shard on it chain, she saw clearly. if there was another glow that the voice was referring to she did not know what it might be, but that shard glowed.

“Lord of Elves, What ever the sacrifice, I will pay it, guide me.”

Siliwen focused on that shard, not letting it out of her sight while she twisted and tugged to free her hands manacled above her head. She knew from the voice that she had to act fast. She had decided to move forward and touch the ring to the shard. And try channeling what magics she had directly into the ring. This plan of action brought her some peace of mind. A plan was better than no plan.
(However, If she can’t get free she tries focusing her magic on the ring and targeting the shard.)

Then the whole situation change, and yet it did not—not for her. The noise alerted Siliwen first, the sounds of running feet echoing down a tunnel and coming closer tunnel,. Siliwen looked quickly as the noise suddenly erupted In the cavern as the huge figure of Billy, with slender Alea, and short stout dwarven leader that had joined thme, Thon, run in, though she did not see Riddle yet or Throndil yet, hope flares. However she swingsshe her attention back to the shard. That alone was her goal, her purpose.

Soon, she must act fast. soon. Siliwen prayed quietly that the guidance would come. Though she had her plan if nothing did.

But the Voice had promise she would know and to that she pinned her hpes.

Subject: Intrigueing Thoughts

Exactly what I was going to do as well. I could so some healing of townsfolk and hold a nice friendly conversation with my patients and anyone else about. Even telling them we found some interesting information while at the Monastery about the town. and invite them to tell more.

My thought is that the marauders are because of the woman form the sea that was killed in fear and misunderstanding. Obvious from the story we found was the fact that she was found in the sea and prayed to a Sea Deity (that is my assumption) or at least a Deity unknown to those on the land.

This tribute might very well be retribution for hi death. She perhaps was even a cleric of said deity. (another assumption) yet to be proven but not necessary really to do so.) It seems her death set off the monthly extortions.

Now my fertile mind has also thought that the old sage/mage has gone underground or into hiding for his peace, (remembering that passage in his book that said something about soon he would have his peace). The monthly extortions are him getting supplies from the villages and it is he sending the creatures to fetch them.

Hmm Say tune for the next installment of this intriguing tale.

She thanks the Dwarf for the return of the arrows.

"Now let us hurry, the faster we find Siliwen the better. I will guard the rear. Billy, Thor, and Thon take this last battle as a clue as to how to fight these Shelnaks. It seems that if you can get to them before they can become a collective of minds then they are vulnerable. First we need to concentrate on the leader."

Isilifeleen saw the two move off and so did she not with them but behind them a ways but close enough to move up if there was need, and close enough to hear with her delicate pointed ears. After the elf said War was necessary she could not let that man's words pass without comment.

"I beg to your pardon, but I agree with the female. War is not a necessity. Balance can be kept without beings killing themselves over their differences. As a fight never proves who is right of wrong Most war do not solve any real problems that are said to be their cause, It creates them. The common people of both sides sugfer because their rulers or leaders couldn't find a peaceful way to solve their differences.

"If wars could slove problems then all the problems then our thousands of years or more of war would have been solved by now. But they are not."

"That soes not mean I believed in total pacifism either. TO protect oneself one needs to be strong with force and knowledge. I do believer there are evils in the world that need to be eradicated. I know they are beings who hunger for power and glory and hope to achieve them on the backs of those who would prefer to live in peace and they must be countered. but say War is necessary is an anathema to all good people."

Isilifeleen glares fiercely at the elf who had spouted such drivel She was incredulous that he ws an elf. She cannot believe any rational, sane being would ever believe let alone suggest such a senseless statement. Though there may be some excuse for such a untenable belief, perhaps he was not raise amongst you kind.

"To be prepared for war is a prudent precaution but that it totally different than saying war is a necessity."

Isilifeleen moved forward to the edge of the impromptue circle that had gathered around the two combatants. She did not like the wat this was shaping up. A seasoned warrior against a recruit. He might just want to teach the boy a lesson but she did not know this man and assume that idea as the right one without proof was poor judgment. She did not have to wait long before the instructor of the class stepped in and relieved the recruit and took up her blade against the warrior. She analyzes, body type stance, style and then the basics, strength, dexterity, and quickness. endurance, and force they could bring to bear and toughness to resist it.

Now she held her initial choice in her mind and as they fought reevaluated her choice in light of any new developments. and the what initiate this decision. All if this she held to herself for the outcome was unknown at these early stages.

This information she kept track of was for her own use and not to brag about to put forward. This is how she learned what made one successful at a particularly tasks or path in life. It was excellent training.

Isilmiri looks around at her companions as the villagers gather around in support of the parents of the lost ones. They had worked well together. She smiled, simple but genuine. Crossing over to the parents, she turns to the mother.

"He should be just fine with the healing he received from both of us. Though, if there is any problems do not hesitate to send for me."

Isilmiri commiserated with the parents of both children, about daring children who had not learned fear. "I think that for now your children might be listening better to your restrictions. Talk to them about this and explain why there was the rule about not coming to the well. They will now understand but it needs to come from you. Tell them that the rules are made to keep them safe for harm.

"They saved Rose's children. I think we should give these folk our apologies. I for one regret not trusting their intentions." He turned to the adventurers, as he continued, "And they can stay for free in the Meaty Herring for as long as they desire." The innkeeper stated.

More of the fishermen and their families arrived and they all agreed that they had not given these heroes the respect they deserved. When the town agreed with the innkeeper Isilmiri spoke again this time clearly to the assembled crowd of people in her best Holy Day Cleric’s voice.

"Thank you, good people. Thank you for YOUR generosity.. We understood your earlier reluctance to trust strangers but I hope we are strangers no longer. Let us rejoice that the children are safe and sound. Let that story be told as a warning to other daring youngster.

“I will buy the first round of drinks, juice for the young ones. We don’t want them to start bad habits, like Driscoll here, who likes a good pint or two of a good brew.” Isilmiri added to lighten the mood. And using that little trick she would make sure that the innkeeper was well payed for his offer of hospitality in a way he could not refuse.

I think that after our rescue of this child the townfolk would ben more amenable to talking with us, if we take it slowly and work into it.
