Brianna, who was ready to let Lorae handle this mess, was suprised when Lorae walked out and left it in her hands. “Wait I am no good at these sort of things," she says to Lorae's back as it disappears through the door of the inn.

Vatta ventured a few thinly veiled remarks of her own to the Riders.

The Sgt. appeared a be a bit miffed at Vatta’s words, justified or not. He responded to Vatta as she turned away. “We didn’t arrest her, we detained her until we could find out for a fact she was what she said she was. The Drow have been causing lots of problems lately. It was said they were behind the most recent coordinated attack of Eventide. That you people helped us with."

Vatta remarks gave Brianna a moment or two to figure out what to say, “Truth be told, this group broke the back of that attack by getting a warning to Ashbenford and taking on a large splinter group that never made their flanking attack. So, I think we can try to get this problem straightened out as soon as I find that rascally dragonette. He is the only one of us that can use magic. Though I have never seen him use invisibility before that does meant he can’t."

"I agree with Vatta, there are good Drow and bad Drow. Detaining her when she has done nothing wrong that you know of, is not just. We just don’t know the truth because, unfortunately, she is not here now to discuss this problem with us. One of two things are possible either she is bad and did not want to be found out or two, she was frightened by the idea that she would not have justice at your hands.. Lorae can tell you if she is good or bad, she is a Paladin

“As for Flame, he has a way it seems to know things about people, well at least if they are good or bad. Now it isn’t much, but if he felt so strongly about her then you would perhaps understand why she didn’t stay to straighten things out to your satisfaction.”

“I know this is not how you want this problem resolved, but until I can find Flame and try to get the woman to return with me to have Lorae check her out there is not much else I can do. If we find her and discover she is evil then we will make sure to hand her over to proper authorities. If she is good then you have no need to worry about her at all. I will promise you we will take care of the Drow one way or the other.”

“Now, Sgt. the blacksmith shop is still open, if you hurry you can get your horse taken care of.”

And Brianna hoped he would do just that and leave the matter of the Drow to them. She wasn't very good at this sort of thing. Why did Lorae leave her to do it?

Moving out of Inn on Drow's shoulder

Flame does not move from the Drows shoulder. he stays with his tail wrapped around her neck fighting the fold of the hood.

{I stay with you} came a telepathic thought into the Drow's head. {What fun they will chase us. we will hide good Brianna will get mad and blame me.}

"Wheeeeee!" the sound is suddenly {oops, I be quiet}

"That will be four hundred gold for that blade. Tis the best I have ever made." Why don't you go says Brianna to Xuor I will pay him you can pay be back at the inn, Find out wha tis happening.

The man was not sure Xuor would be willing to pay that much for it but when Xuor handed it over withouth a qualm he nodded to Xuor.

Brianna pulls out her purse and takes out platinum pieces and counts out fourty.

Now I have another request for you services. "We are going to cross those mountains and I want to bring the horse over early tomorrow and have all their shoes checked and added extra nails. I can't afford to have a shoe lost once we are on the trails.

The man looked up please with his sale but ready for more work as well. The sale of that knife will keep his family well for at least this winter and into the spring, it was a cautious estimate. He was a frugal man so it would probably last for muck longer than that.

"I am up before the sun rise to heat my forge. Any time after Sunrise is fine with me."

Brianna nods "I will be here at Sunrise then," Then she strides back to the inn to see what so interested Vatta and uor. She was curious to but it was important that certain things were taken care of in a timely manner.

The lights from the inn shone into the darkness of the night a welcoming sight as the night turned colder. Brianna thought of having a nice hot mulled wine ot a spiced cider once she got in the inn. Some cheese and bread that she could toast over the fire sounded good too.

As the door to the inn open Brianna steps in and closes the door behind her. There was some w armth to cut the chill and it got armer nearer the two fires that blazed at oppposite ends of the common room.

Xuor stood near Vatta, but she could see no sign of Lorae. Brianna moved over to the others. Two Riders stood in the inn holding a tall slender cloaked figure, who hands had been manacled. A red crest of her hood was none other that Flames who had made himself at home with his tailed wrapped about the captives neck.

"Flame," Brianna called out to the diminutive dragonette. It was his name, but also a command, all in one word.

Command or not, understood or not, Flame stayed right where he was with nothing more than a turn of his head.

He whispers into the Drow priestess's ear. "Brianna's here she will make it right. Lorae would be better though."

The blacksmith laid out several different blades for Xuor's perusal. He had several thin bladeed knifes like fillet knifes several thicker blades, straight with sharp on both edges on both side, more like a thick dagger.

"I do have a few multipurpose skinning knives that the hunter's here about like a lot. It is my own design. They are a bit more pricey, but it might be what you are looking for."

He goes over to a wooden box on a table made of thick split logs. Unlocking the box he removes a cloth wrapped bundle. and brings it over to Xuor. Unwrapping it he holds out what is essentially a bowie knife, sharpened on both side at the tip, but only on one side for most of the length. It is also thick on the back.

"This is really good for cutting up large games and it is really good steel. I forged it with some star metal I traded from some hunters. It makes the steel stronger."

The blade is about 12 inches long and about 3 inches wide at the widest point. but does taped at the tip in a swoop and is sharpened on both side of the blade in the tapered part. It is a hefty piece, but it has a large handle to balance the thick blade.

It is a masterwork blade at the very least.

Brianna follows Vatta to the door to see what was going on. As Vatta indicated that she would go sheck it out. Brianna responds to her her.

"You do that, we be along as soon and Xuor has what he wants. IF the woman from the shop comes with those clothes she mentioned have her wait and buy her a drink or whatever she wants on me.""

Brianna watched Vatta stride out in the the almost full late autumn darkness. The air had quickly became more chilled when the sun dropped behind the distant mountains. They same mountains that they were planning to cross. They lookd formidable indeed. even in the darkness she could see their white capped peaks which mean snow still clung in the shadowed places.

As Xuor explained what he wanted the blacksmith brought out several knifves for him to look over tosee which one suited him best.

While Brianna look them over curiously to appraise there craftsmanship she thought that they might all want to have the shoes on the horses checked out before they went up into those mountains. For a want of a shoe, the horse could be lost. She resolved to ask the man if he had time in the morning to look over the shoe on all their horses.

Bronwyn takes out her wand of Mage Armor to renew the spell she threw earlier. The wand it quivers as her hand shakes with tension Bitting her lips she quiets her mind to her trembling.

After she cast her fireball some of the heat went out of her and cold reality set in. It made her decision to go forward much harder. None-the-less she said she would help and she wouldn't back out now even if she had second or third thoughts about what was going on. .

Bronwyn remembered her granny saying to her, "If the good people don't do something to stop the bad ones then evil wins. Fate and some unknown others had gone into that place and if she could help them, it was worth her efforts despite her fears. She wasn't courageous, nor foolhardy either. She was just intending to go in there and do what she could with what she had to use and hopefully get out with her life.

"I am ready. I will cast invisibility to help me but once I attack anything I will be revealed. So I may try hiding behind the gate door and hurl Magic Missiles from there."

She exchanged wands for a moment and held on the the back of Elendil's cloak as they moved forward. The sounds of battle becomes clearer and more daunting with every step.

Bronwyn prays, "Goddess, Protect me......and the other good folk in need here. I commend my soul into your keeping, if I do not survive this. I have tried to be good."

In her thoughts she adds. "Goddess I am scared." Bronwyn follows Elendil staying close so as not to hinder her.

Brianna approaches the blacksmith's shop. Light glows form the open door. Not a bright light, but a variable red glow of the hearth.

A big man with broad shoulder and thick arms of his trade stood at the forge heating a piece of iron. His hair was short more from need than style. Hr had a leather cap on his head and a heavy leather apron protected him from the sparking metal. Hair caught fire rather easily It was nearly red hot He lifts it out and lays it on his anvil hammer in hand. The steady tap tap of his hammer rang out as he shaped the red hot metal.

He kooks up and the three entered his shop and gave a nod but he turned back to his work until the metal worked until it was to cool to continue. He slipped it back into the fire to heat again.

Now he turned to Brianna, Xuor, and Vatta. "How can I help you?" he asked. He voice as deep as his her shoulders were broad.

Brianna let Xuor respond while she looked around the shop. She stepped back to join Vatta.

OOC unles my P< get replies that changes her actions this is what Siliwen is doing.

IC:

Siliwen watched as the leader of the Shelnak suddenly broke form the wedge formation leaving Billy standing there. Perhaps since Billy had hurt him he was breaking for Thondrek and the other Dwarf thinking them easier targets. When she saw him by pass Thondrek and the Grey Mountain dwarf, she became worried. Riddle stood bravely before her ready to take the blunt of the creatures charge. Only that was not to be The Shelnak hit riddle with his Iron bar and sent him flying against the stony wall of the Tunnel. Riddle collapse in a heap. Something liquid splashed on him and Riddle started to smoke--it flashed into her mind that it was most likely acid. but that is all the time she had to spare and the leader was almost upon her.

The leader had been hurt but she didn't know how badly. She didn't know if she could get off another spell in time or not, she had one more Magic Missile to use but if he was still protected that would be a futile waste of a spell and she would be left totally unable to defend her self against his skills. strength, and his determination to kill her.

Siliwen was left with only two possible choices that might let her live. The first was to abort all actions to a full out run but that would leave her alone and at the mercy of the more powerful creature, or two, risk running behind Alea, and the Gray Mountain dwarf over towards the wall and taking refuge beyond them hoping they could now hit the creature. Giving them a change to hit the creature (possible and AoO as well) and Siliwen a chance to get a spell off.

Siliwen went for the all out abort and zooms over behind Alea, and the Gray Mountain Dwarf. Against the tunnel wall.

The glow on her chest was ignored since she had no idea what it meant. Hopwfully her actions might give ehr group time to down the huge Shelnak

Wuestion do I have a chance to cast a spell before he gets to me, There is no way that she knows whether she can be faster, have the higher initiative or not so I just need to know just how quickly he got there and if she has time to cast her last Magic Missile. or do a total abort of action and go on the defensive. like run being Alea and the Gray Mountain dwarves and let them get a chance to hit them. She know she can take a hit from him, that is for certain--not after seeing Riddle wept aside like a bothersome fly.

My post is ready to got with two possible alternatives at this time which would be to run away totally Full out defensive or defensive duck behind Alea, and the Dwarves

Topic: Forgotten Realms: The Unsung Heroes
Subject: Brownwyn' Decision

Bronwyn followed Elendil as the elf ranger led the way out of the woods her bow in hand and arrow notched just incase the bowman was still about. It was not far back, to where they had hidden and where Bronwyn had used her fireball for the first time. Her determination to use her last fireball spell against the goblins was still strong however; her mind kept going over the possible ramifications of her intended action. An active mind was a blessing and a curse. Sometimes Bronwyn‘s went around in circles playing through all the possibilities.

Bronwyn had second thoughts and third thoughts, but then the memory of Buttercup’s dead body lying there in the dark replayed in her mind again. IT fueled her determination to go forward and exact payment for her loss. She needed to get closer to see where she could target her fireball to cause the most damage to the goblins and gnolls and other nasty creatures in the keep. Her invisibility would not last forever nor would it last if she cast a spell so she decide to wait until after she through the fireball to use it for protection.

Before breaking cover from the woods to the open ground around the keep she did take out her wand of mage armor used one charge on herself. Keeping a watchful eye out but trusting to Elendil’s elven vision more than her own.

Suddenly form the walls of the keep came the booming voice of the apparition in the sky only this time it was not a huge illusion in the air.

On top of the battlement stood a huge creature holding a small boulder the size of a keg over his head. He hurled it down into the bailey of the keep. Bronwyn shuttered. No one could have lived if that hit him. Bronwyn’s mind suddenly focused on that monstrous figure. He was why the goblins are here. He may not have been the direct cause of Buttercup’s death, he would not use such a small arrow, but he was the one who was the most responsible for this whole mess that Bronwyn had been drawn into. Unbeknownst to him he was now the target of her roiling emotions as he was the one to blame.

Bolikar was clearly outlined against the night sky and while Bronwyn could not see much detail, she did not need to with the area of effect spell. All she had to do was center it on him. With such a clear view, she did not even have to make a touch attack with the spell.

“That one,” she says to Elendil, “That one is my target,” Bronwyn said lowly to Elendil. The early horror of the effect of her first fireball spell had faded. There was no sense of horror now, only a strange sort of satisfaction--no retribution, reparation, or whatever--that she took from this action. This was for Buttercup. This was for her as well. Buttercup was gone, but she could make the perpetrator pay.

Bronwyn targeted the huge figure on the ramparts and spoke the ancient arcane words of the fireball spell with care and deliberation. The tiny bead of fiery energy raced out from her finger directly to where she had wanted it to go. She watched, with total concentration and a fervent desire for it t to engulf that figure in the ravaging explosion of fire.

Once it hits Bronwyn prepares invisibility and cast it on herself before taking up her wand of Magic Missiles and moving towards the open gate. She was not done yet.
