Subject: Siliwen Comforts Riddle

Siliwen stayed with Riddle as the others took care of what needed to be done for know. She covered him with her cloak and cradled his head off the ground and shielded his eyes.

“Fear not. We shall do our best for you and find someone who can help you.” Siliwen promises in a soft voice.

Af6ter the discovery of the poisoned claw on their legs she explains to Riddle what they think happened, “Apparently they have claws on their legs that are armed with poison, and that is what is affecting you. Be encouraged it does not seem to be getting any worse.”

Siliwen is concerned when the dust clouds rise again from the direction the Asir’s leader had fled too. Siliwen stays with Riddle as the other stand guard. She tells him what is happening. Though his body is paralyzed, she thinks that since his eyes still focus so he may still hear what is going on. She sure wouldn’t want to be left without hearing what is happening around him even though he can’t move.

“The dust has been raised by a wagon. The driver appears to be a simple farmer with no weapons visible. Billy, Thor and Alea are on guard." Siliwen continues her narration of events as they unfold. As the man drives up in his wagon, Siliwen does prepare another Magic Missile spell, just in case.

“He appears to be human, though he speaks the Common tongue with a slight accent that is unfamiliar to my ears. That is at least fortunate for us. He seems to be surprised by what he sees here. Alea is talking to him. Hopefully he can take you in his wagon to some place where we can get help for you.”

Siliwne now waits for answers. though she keeps Riddles head in her lap as she waits her hands are free. She does not think that this one man would proved to be a problem to the others

“Lt. Keenan, Sir. May I offer an alternative plan," Inga says over the intercom. "Offer them my services. Medics are usual seen as more neutral personal in any conflict besides I am female. Just an idea. Sir."

Having said her piece, Inga goes back to what needs to do; Hart's wound needed attention. She moves him back from the firing zone a couple of strides. "Let me tale a look at that and get it dress up quick. While you keep your eyes peeled."

A quick examination proves it to be a graze wound. Inga deftly cleans the wound with a spray cleaner and qauze and then uses an spray coagulant and sealer for the wound. Pressing on a patch bandage and then with sealant tape tapes up where his uniform had been ripped open to finish the job for now.

"Okay, Hart you are patched up for now. I will want to take a look at later though, when we have some down time." Even as she finishes saying this she is back at her job watching and ready.

"Here now Laddie. Let me treats those wounds of yours."

Geim cleans and dreses Malius's wounds and then gives him the best healing he has left.

"Right beat up ,poost of us are DOn't know how Draven got off without any serious injures. He took on the one beastie himself and killed it dead. He walked, no staggered out as ye were climbing up the wall."

"Run into a few problems yourself lad did ye. seems this thing spreads by one beastie feeding on an infected beastie. Bad business that. There will be more I bet but we cannpt do anything more today Perhaps we can find a way to lock this place up tight for the night and get the rest we all need."

If Geim has it, he will use cure disease on Malius since he was bitten by that flying maggot.

Subject: Lt. Rhiana, Romulan Science Officer.

Stardate: 2374.08.31
USS Cerberus – Deck 3 Centurion's Cabin – 1100 hours

Rhiana arrived outside the indicated room through the set of Starfleet guards standing near the door. She palmed the pad on the wall to announce her presence, her coppery brown eyes straying to the two guards. She fought to keep a calm demeanor. It was hard. She wanted to laugh, very un-Romulan, but she wanted to. Allies indeed, that was the claim being made. Most of it was political hype. The reality ws that it was advantageous and/or expedient for someone in power to take this currrent stance. Not that is was a bad idea Rhiana thought but it likely wouldn't last-which was too bad for her personally.

Rhiana sighed. She would take advantage of the sitution to further her her quest for knowledge, to find out what Starfleet knew that Romulans didn't. It would last but while it does Rhiana is personnaly going to make as much use of it as she possibly could. It seemede that whenever she started her quest for knowledge, information or whatever in the her current field of interst she ran into road blocks. Mostly potlical road bliocks. That made her ask questions. Questions others did not want asked and certainly did not want to answer except for their stock responses, programed like old non-interactive computers.

Rhiana heard the door slide open. She saluted S'Talon who stood there properly to the man who she had come to respect ever since the accident and the reprecusions of that day.

"Sir Lt. Rhiana, reporting sir, as Ordered."

She let her hand drop from the salute smartly and waited for him to let her enter. She did not assume that he would, one did not assume such things as a more junior officer.

When he indicated she stepped into the Centurion's room. It was more spacious--as it should be--for the higher ranking officers. At least Starfleet had accomodated the Romulan higher ranking officers in better quarters.

She look around the stocky ex-Marine to look at the Centurion.

"She is still alseep? Do you know what medications she took?" Rhianna spoke softly.

The trip here with her still barely recovered, the long wait to be transported hadn't help the Centurion's condition, which is mostly why the sever cramping had flared up again.

Taking her scanner she moved over to the sleeping Centurion and conducted her examination.

She looked over the two vials of medication out on the table and the dossage and frequency indicated on the readout.

"I don't love this stuff. It kills the pain but does nothing to remediate the symptoms that cause them. This one is a bit better at what it does. I hope I can find something better." I will see about using there medical data to see if they have something that might be more edificatious. I will get at that as soon as I can."

Rhianna looks to Talon and turns away from the Centurion over to the divan in the room.

"I hope you don't mind my free speaking. The only good thing I can think of that might happen on this mission is getting her well. I'll make no bones about it, Starfleet has been much better at caring for their injured than we Romulans have. It might be the Centurion's best chance to be fully healed and returned to full active service. Though it is not going to be easy road with all the other things that got her here in this throw away mission to begin with."

"I have run into political road blocks before will again and incurred the censure of our leaders. I don't go through them, I just go into a new field of endevor and try again. In a way I win, but the Romulan Empire loses." Only a hint of disappointment well covered by a grin at her own words was evident.

"Hart. Let me take a look at that." Inga motions to Hart.

Inga steps away from the door futher so Hart could come close and be out of the line of fire. Since the situation was not secure, she would just look to see how bad it was. Then decide on what needed to be done.

Dae tirns to offer Septimus the other half of her apple. When she looked at him she was shocked to see the change in his aure. The brief lightning of her aure of a few minutes ago seemed to have seen sucked out of him twice fold. All light had just about faded and his aura was dark and sombre gloomy actually. SHe didn't know what had happend to him what though had caused this plunge.

The halk of the bright red apple fell from her hand and she reached out and took his hand firmly in hers. she held onto his hand without saying a word because quite frankly she did not know what to say at this moment.

Silence would serve her best since she did not know the root of his current problem that had cause this shasowing of his aura, The warmth of her grasp though was its own message. She had promisedhim to stand as his friend. Handshakes had been a physical sign of that for years. Those hers was just a steady firm grasp.

Wordlessly it said. "I am here; you are not alone." She would continue to hald his hand trying to get him to make eye contact. The eyes are the windows of the soul. In his were shadows; in hers was the Light.

And by the Everlasting Light she had enough for them both.

They had been so shortly a group that she didn't know all their abilities except the most obvious physical ones and the ones they had demonstrated so far in batlle and while camping--not much to go on.

Stardate: 2374.08.31
USS Cerberus – Near and in Rm For Romulan Crew 3– 1059 hours

Rhiana crosses over to the unoccupied bunk in the room. Her bunk mate already having chosen hers. She dropped her things for now, she would unplack later. Taking up her scanner and med kit she turns to her roommate,

"Thanks I would like too, but I will have to join you later. I have something to take care first fo Lt. S'Talon. I’ll be there as soon as I can, but no guarantees. Just take it carefully. Despite what we were told, you could see that we are not well received on this ship. Not that I blame them solely but we are supposed to be working together for a common good. You think they could just put that aside for now. Things have changed, at least for now." Rhiana sighs. She wished it was not true but she koew it probably would not last. She would have loved the opportunites to interact with the various Federation scientists especially their medical personnel on board freely without all this tension. In that the Federation was far ahead of Romulan medicine. That or , she thought it most likely. They cared more for their people when they were injured than Romulans cared for their own. Rhiana herself thought Romulans wasted their people and all the training that went into them when they were injured and not returned to full active status.

Rhiana was a strange one for a Romulan. Her thirst for pure knowledge and truth made her not a good square peg for the square holes of the rigid Romulan society, especially the military side of it but also fir the civilian parts as well. The quest for knowledge and truth as well as Science itself should have no national foundries but unfortunately for her the Romulan social and political foundries had been her stumbling block many times before as she locked horns with bureaucrats.

The trials and tribulations over the years she now put to the side for now and she moved to get to the Centurion’s quarters. The deck and room number and directions were clearly remembered as were almost everything her heard and saw. Retracing her path back to the transporter, she walked with a determined stride, wasting no time to traverse the route. Medical training and education had been one of her first doctorates. She did not have time to specialize afterward and her education continued in other fields she was interested in, but she had a solid practical training and was the best medical person in their contingent.

Inga remains in covering position, rifle at the ready. Now they had even more question and still no answers. Inga remains alert to her surrounding. Not only one the opposition from the observatory but also around her as well. She was in the rear and needed to make sure nothing was coming up from behind them either. She canted her body slightly to keep watch on theie sides and rear.

"Malius, Malius, Sing out, boy. Where are You?" Geim short legs though are powerful and he makes it up to the next level and calls out, then listens for an answer. If nothing is heard, he moves up another level and repeats his calls. "Carn-sarn, ye boy, Where ye be?"

Siliwen's strategy is simple. Hit the Nas'ir as they called themselves, again and again with Magic Missile until she is out of spells. She one step so as not to disturb her concentration but hopefully get her behind some cover. This could be the nearest, Nas'ir body or Billy which ever is closer.

Slender as a wand, Siliwen stands on the cliff top. The ocean breezes stir and twist tendrils of her silken hair about her like a halo of light. She stands facing a foe many times her size and weight. Daunting for the flegling mage who had so recently taken to the road, Siliwen is not without fear, yet she stands steady, the blood of generations of warriors and wizards, clerics and paladins flows in her veins. She will not run away this time.

Siliwen's focus narrows down to the two still standing Nas'ir. Her next target is the one 20 feet from her. The arcane words of power shape the magic to her will. Again two sparkling missiles flash from her slender finger tips and race towards her chosen target. Twirling and spinning, she watches them until they strike her chosen target.

I just can figure out the time line. HE was climbing up when door open. we went to door check on Draven and then went in to see tower. SOmehow he got in upstairs and then got downstairs a floor or two hilled all these maggots and disappeared before we got the the room with the nest. Is that the correct assumption.

Geim gets busy helping Thondrek to kill the maggots. "Best these be dead least we have giant bloodsucking insects to deal with. We’ll pull out this nest of refuse as well and burn it all with the bodies of the beasties. Well rid of them all we will be." The old runemaster was tired not that he would admit this to anyone but he would be glad when the job here was done. In fact if the clean this place up and then locked the door again they could stay here the night in relative safety.

Then a thought came to his mine. Where is Malius? Geim turns to look around. “Has anyone seen Malius yet? He should be here somewhere."

Geim heads upstairs which had Malius's destination and since he had chosen not to come down while outside her must have continued up and certainly must have arrived at that window long before now.

"Ho, Malius, where ye be? Sing out boy, let us know you are okay

Geim suddenly remember that Malius had been bitten by one of the creatures. .” Geim’s short legs flashed quickly as he hurried up the spiral staircase. Under his breath he railed at long legged elves that made the steps so deep. Geim continues to call Malius's name. “Malius. Malius. MALIUS. Speak up boy. Where are you? Are you okay?” Geim shouts out in his booming voice, "Come quick, someone, anyone, Malius may be in trouble. He was bit by one of those creatures. I healed his wounds but did'nae think about him being afflicted by the taint." Geim berates himself over his oversight and moves as fast as he can.

Dae spots the shrine ahead so typical of Ehlonna wayside shrines a simple structure of limbs and growing greenery surround and festooned a small carved wood icon of Ehlonna. Offerings of natures bounties were the usual tithes at such a wayside shrine. Sae began to slow her mount until Septimus was fully alongside of her.

"Looks like we are the first to arrive I so not see the others," Dae comments. We will let our horses rest and then get watered while we wait. Ride in close to the Shrine she dismounts and pays her respects. Deities of Nature have most elves respect if not worship.

The tallish elven women steps smoothing off her mount and loosens the cinch of her saddle and walks the mare about. Going into her saddle bags she takes out three apples. One she feeds her mare, One she offers to sptimus for his bay stallion. The third she cuts in half with her dagger.

"I love the cool crispness of apples especially when they are fresh" she comments as she hands one of the portions to Septimus casually. The man could afford to eat a whole one even several for days. but piece by piece would be a subtler way of getting him to eat what was offered--or anything else. HE had been force to do things and was an old hand at resisting. the walls he had built around himself walls were thick and high.

Where there is a will, there is a way. She had the will and with the Light as her guide she would find the way.
