Subject: Eldarwen's Curiosity

Eldarwen turns her attention to the old man ascending the stairs. This matter has to be straightened out at least to satisfy her curiosity which ws growing.

She stands and moves over to the stairs her natural grace making it easy for her to move around the tables and chairs as she moved around trees and bushes in the forest.

Eldarwen drops her hood out of innate politeness as she addresses the venerable old man.

"Excuse me sir, This establishment seems to have a misconception about a reservation in my name that you apparently know about, However, I know nothing about it. Perhaps you can explain that to me before you retire.?" Her words are quite formal in the way of elven speech just translated into common. and her tone courteous.

Her delicate eyebrows lifter in question over her piercing Golden eyes. Set of with creamy complexion and deep framed with redd hair.

Eldarwen looks up at the serving girl who addressed her. She certainly did not know her and had never been in this place before. She wondered how the girl knew her name though it was apparent that she did not know who she was exactly. She could have lied about it not wanting to be bothered but there ws no reason to.

"I am Eldarwen Ranger of the High Forest. I am curious though, how it is that you know my name."

Eldarwen does not start eating until the girl responds. She waits patiently for her answer. keeping her face neutral and the tone of her voice even.

While Eldarwen waits for an answer she can head the old man chastising the human that just got up from the floor. That younger man grabbed out his sword and raise his voice to the old man about trying to save somebody. The old man's retort was lower and in a much calmer voice. She did however hear a few words with intrigued her. :The Fate of the world (depends on) you four.

She turned her head as the old man announced his intentions to go to bed. then turned to look at the four gathered at a nearby table. The old woman and ther young man who had been unconscious and thw two others one male and one femnale. The fate of the world rested on them? Eldarwen shook her head in disbelief.

Subject: Bronwyn

I don't think Bronwyn had really paid attention to much of what is going on about her. She can't see much in detail except for what is in the light ot in the glow of that face in the sky. Certainly not individual feature of those running to the gates or what they are doing once they get inside. She through the fireball to try to stop the goblins closing the gate and trapping Fate inside. She is a human in the dark so to speak.

She added one Magic Missile after that Unfortunately after that she had a moment to pause and the shocking results of the fireball really got to her. Also she wasn't really paying attention to who or what was entering the keep. To her they were all bad guys. She has seen not shining knight on his steed and an army behind him attacking the castle which would give her a modicum of relief.

Now you are lucky in that she had only one fireball to use. and is not a combat oriented mage.

I don't know why Kaelyn mentioned something about her doing an about face and going all combat on everyone. Perhaps it was just to rile everyone wlse up. You know Kaelyn. He will sets the cats amongst the pigeons.

DM is Upset with me because she wants to join the group and now she is dragging me off to safety away from everybody wlse., I don't think we will ever get joined up that way.

AH well, Cie la Gar!

You have discovered our secret. We get along fine until we disagree. THen we are two strong indiviuals who are bent on having their own way.

The irresistible force meets the immovable object. ROTFLMAOI

Actually Bronwyn is a very shelter character who has never been involved in any combat at all. She took care of an old Wizardess, pensioned off after years of service with a noble family. Bronwyn had a spark of magic that the woman trained while Bronwyn was contentedly taken care of the woman, cooking and cleaning and brewing potions as such She is really a wiz, in her own mind, at doing that. After her Wizardess health fail from being kick out of her pension cottage Bronwyn took the very old woman to her families farm and cared for her until she passes away.

Since here is not much need of a Wizard on a farm so she set out to find a place.

Bronwyn hired Elendil to lead her to where the original group headedo out from to find a posititon as a Wizard.

Bronwyn remained stubbornly resistant in her efforts to keep Elendil from dragging Buttercup into the keep. Buttercup resisted too the noise and smell of goblins made her shy from the battling goblins and orcs. Buttercup heard Bronwyn pleading with her to stop. She turned her stout neck back to Bronwyn and tugged hard against Elendil's pull. Bronwyn's grabbed the lead line and assisted Buttercup's efforts.

Buttercup stood still at her mistress's earnest entreaties, her study legs like four posts dug into the ground, deciding she too did not want to move any closer the the horrible smell of goblins and orcs and the deafening sounds of battle. The rope pulled free and Bronwyn jerk it away with all her strength and turned to return to the line of trees.

Bronwyn screams at Elendil. "Stop don't take Buttercup. They will kill her and eat her. She tries to grab the rope from Elendil's hand tugging on it frantically to get her to release her precious Buttercup.

However. Elendil's firm grip did not release the pony's lead rope and their combined weight and strength literally dragged Bronwyn along with them as she fruitlessly struggled to free the lead rope from Elendil's hand.

It was a strange sight, not that anyone had time to watch with all the fighting around the gate as Elendil dragged the bony and Bronwyn closer to the Keep.

"No! Don't! Please don't take her. Go yourself but leave her here."

Moraglin quickly descended all the while looking for the source of the magic to create a counterspell. However, not finding a spellcaster, even invisible, she cast Greater Disspell on the effect, but it did nothing to stop the spell in progress.

Moraglin took a s closer look after her spell fizzled.

She was surprised to discover there was no spell in effect. The change was not magical in nature.

Dae'd question to her was answered in a flash. "No, there is nothing I can do. it is not a magical effect. That is, there is no magic that is causing Alex's change."

She let the rug settle until she came face to face with Alex in his new form.

"Very nice, Very Nice indeed. I don't know how it was done but I like it a lot. You are quite handsome as a Pegasus."

"How do you feel? I daresay the scream was more in mental shock than physical. I have changed shaped before and I never noticed much pain but them I knew what was happening to me. This must have been a bit shocking to you though."

Subject: Bronwyn the turtle

Bronwyn is done for the night. She is having trouble wrapping her head around the terrifying fireball and its effects on flesh and blood. That they were goblins that were the enemies of humans really didn't lessen her horrified reaction to the results.

This whole night had already pushed her to the max. and now this tipped her over the edge. her stomach was cramping and she knew she was about to heave up whatever resided in her stomach. She was so far out of her comfort zone she did not know is she was coming or going. Only one thing impinged on her mind was to get out of here. She had done what she could and now the gates were shutting but there was no way she was going any further. certainly no closer to the Keep.

Bronwyn stumbled backwards to the one constant in her life the short, stout Buttercup. Bronwyn managed to keep on her feet that far and when she got close enough to her pony she grabbed onto Buttercup's neck like a lifeline and hugged her. Bronwyn buried her head into Buttercup's thick neck and long mane.

It was the closest that Bronwyn could come to withdrawing like a turtle into its shell. She began to sob quietly, tears flowing freely. She was not heroine of old and tonight had proved it.

Elendil found her holding onto Buttercups for dear life and told her they had to move. Anywhere away from her was fine with Bronwyn. She took up Buttercup's lead and walked quietly with her behind Elendil. That was until Elendil move out again towards the keep closer to the gates and tole her to run.

Bronwyn stood like a rock.

"No way! I am not going in there. You go if you want to but I am staying right here."

Dae could care less how Moraglin accompanied them, she was just glad that the flamboyant and outspoke mage stayed with them.

Clint leaving was a disappointment, but only brief. She would see this mission through without anyone else being with her. It was the task she had been sent to do. Not that Dae wanted to do it herself. She was realistic about her chances alone. She might just be able to get information and then get out of there. With her current companions she might be able to do more.

The day stretched on into evening. The edge of the Barrens were finally crossed. The vegetation became sparse, grasses, stunted brush and leafless trees. There were no sounds of insects, The only thin that stirred were the dust and grit of the sun baked ground or small bits of debris blown in form other places, when the wind was strong enough to stir them.

"Here begins the last part of our journey. It is about 100 miles more or less to where the mage towers stand and whatever in going on out there. There have been tales of monsters and evil mishaped humanoids."

The day was boring, the saddle, hard and as Moraglin pulled to a stop as Clint left and stepped onff her obsidian steed. With a word the steed shrinks down into a small black obsidian statue and she slips it into her pouch.

"That is enough of that," she said and she dusted herself off with a wave of her hands. A small whirlwind arose and the dust whisked away the dust of the road until it dissipated far from her. "I will not continue of the excuse of a road breathing in the dust of the road."

With a flourish. Moraglin opens her pack and draw out a carpet about 9x12, it unrolls itself and floats about 28 inches in the air. Moraglin steps on and pulls out a large bolster from her pack and sit down leaning against it. The carper rise up until Moraglin is above the dust kicked up by
the horses.

"Now I am ready to continue. Lead on"

Waling with Xuor out of the store Brianna comment, "If we can't get a good price for the more mundane weapons we can just hold them until we get to a larger town. There is always a need for the decent weapons, and perhaps we can find buyers for some of the magical ones as well. I've got all I can carry and use."

What other things do you need, arrows, is what I need now but I am won't buy inferior ones just to fill my quiver.

"I was thinking of getting barding for Shadowbane as well, though I doubt there is any in this place, its just too small.

Inga swung around pick up her med kit slung it securely and picked up her rifle again.

She check out her gennades eack type stowed on a differnt side. If they faced one on those things again she would not hesitate to use it well before it got close to anyone of them.

Inga had a pretty good throwing arm she got it when she played on a softball team for several years in college., and also from throwing javelins on the track team. Inga preferred the individual sports of the Track team best. She was also a pretty decent at 220 and 440. Inga ran some hurdles too. Those skills had helped her when she signed up for the Army, and later when tried out for the Rangers.

"Yes si," is what she replied to the Lt. All ready to go," then she added "HooAH!". The bantering was over. It was team time regardless of their condition. they all stood ready to carry out their mission. This is what made being a Ranger meant--the team, Each one of them ready to do their part for the mission.

Hooah, indeed.

Brianna said to the woman request for information . It is for about 1 1/2 months for 8 people. While they were fewer she knew she was a big eater and Logan was too so it was close enough. She got lots of dried sausages and meats, root vegetable some which she was unfamiliar with. One was a deep reddish purple globular roots called a beet. Another was like the whitish parsnip but was bright orange and called a carrot. Dried fruit and some dried herbs and spices to cook with along with the staple as flour, salt pepper, bread starter, grains for porridge, etc.

Brianna looks at the pile and reaches into her haversack for a sack, packed conveniently on the top. (magically on the top as it is a Heward's Handy haversack. IT had been her mother;s and her father gave it to her when she met him for the first and what looks like now the last time. All her family were elsewhere. For a moment a look of sadness appeared on her face. Another loss that still had the power to cause her great sadness. But6 it passed quickly enough because Brianna was a creature of the present right now and though the losses hurt present matters had to be tended to first.

"We can pack it in here and if that is not enough perhaps I can pay for a person to deliver the rest to the inn for us."

"Certainly, Lady. My son can pack it over to theinn for you. The innkeeper will hold it until you return he is a good man."

Brianna pays five extra silver to have it all delivered. I will just take the list with me not she says as she holds out her hand for the list. Though she felt she could trust this woman still she wanted to be able to check the list with what was delivered,

Brianna does not want to reveal that she has a bag of holding and stasis. Bags of holding were know but holding and stasis were not at all common. She carefully packs the bag until it is full and lifts it seemingly with any problems. Xuor,I will pay for this all Perhaps you can ask and find out where we can find the other things we need. I need arrows, and to sell off a few of those extra weapons we found.

Brianna picks through the coins she has collects since coming here enough to pay for their supplies.
