Subject: Loriel

Loriel was considering what she should say to Barrb. When Bart spoke up, Loriel decided to put her response to the side and she helps as could as the situation unfolded. The Priestess of Tymora seemed to hold several cards to play in reserve. First was the two white horses that appeared from the woods. Most likely they were summonsed by the Priestess. Pure elven stock Loriel could see it in there delicate form and way of moving. Like dancers. Fine legs flashing, a swing of their head and neck, a flick of abundant flowing silky manes and tail, they displayed the pure grace of elves in horse form. They would certainly be a definite advantage in the group’s travels. The white stallion led the way to the Priestess and paid her homage by gracefully bowing his head before her. The mare, a bit more delicate, followed him closely. Moira danced a bit in place knowing better than to leave where her rains had been dropped. Nothing the less she showed her eagerness at their appearance.

Next useful item was the portable hole in which the Priestess placed most of the stores Bart had brought with him. Loriel had dismounted to help Bart with the provisions and then descended form the wagon bed. IT was just about then that the increasing sounds of pounding hooves or men cursing and calling out reach her ears for the first time and grew as the cause of it all rounded a corner in the streets of the town and boar down on the gate like a stampede.

Surely they would draw rein. Such a rapid pace might endanger others was Loriel's first thought. Besides themselves townsfolk proceeded in and out the gate.

But the riders did not pause and as they drew nearer Loriel could hear the man in black spiked armor, yelling out to his men. . As a dozen men on horseback, all dressed in armor and weapons rode hard towards the companions their yelling clearly enough and mostly likely purposefully enough to be heard by all of Bart’s entourage. Unfortunately al caught clustered about the two wagons in the direct path of the oncoming warriors. As the group neared, the black spiked armor of Zacharius denoted him at the lead, and he rode his fellowship right towards the companions, with no obvious intention of stopping or veering to avoid them. "Move aside" he called as he neared. "Rabble has no place before one such as I! Onward Men, They will move, or they will be mowed down!"

Loriel reacted immediately she leaped form the wagon onto Moira’s back and spun the mare around to face the oncoming riders. As they did Moonshadow had reason to make her dislike know by barking furiously at the armored riders bearing down of them. “Away, Moonshadow,” and she cued Moira to side pass nimbly out of the path of warriors bearing down of them. Thankfully she saw others moving quickly in various directions to clear a path as well.

When they had past she side passed the mare back. Thoughtfully her eyes followed the other group. They were going to present a problem she was sure of it.

She moves over to where Barrb had gotten out of the way. “I have not forgotten you questions.” I need to think on what you asked me since I am not sure exactly what your question entails. However on another note those men who passed us, though supposedly dedicated to the same mission we are might present us a problem equal to the goblins menace. I noticed they had no supplies, and even if they have money to purchase them. They may not find them in the directions we are traveling—certainly not as we get closer to where the goblins occupy. The goblins will have striped all they can from the surroundings. Whish will make what we carry with us important to them.”

Trillian does not move to the center whe the sarcophagus lies. She is leery of the tunnels that lead off into who know where and before shed does anything else she checks those tunnel out.

The first tunnel to the left is narrower than the one they entered through to this chamber First things she does is visually just at the entrance from the dome room. Kooking into its depths she can see the end of it which seems to be jsut rounded. Trillian slips into the first tunnel and checks it out carefully for any possible left over treasures and secret places. Carefully she examines the walls and floors and even the ceiling. to satisfy herself that there is nothing that could prove dangerous though hopefully she can find something of value.

One by one in a clockwise pattern she checks out each tunnel in turn. After those are completed she will make he way back to where they came in. she moves over to where the group has gathered.

Inga was also quite sure from the Warrant Officer's response that she had thought about this possible explanation for something in the same vein as Inga. She also recognized her response for what it was. An officer's duty to allay the fears of her subordinates and keep forces focused on the matters at hand. Siliwen , still on the ground prepares another Magic Missle strike against the beast facing Riddle. If she could catch several together facing her she would use Color Spray but not for now. She ws saving that for multiple targets.

It was an inelegant position for a wizard she thought, but she could not risk messing up her spells by trying to get up. At least she could stay out of Riddle's way down here.

Siliwen moved her legs until they were under her so she make as small a target as possible. More like a lump on the ground than a body sprawled out as it had been when she fell.

Dae turns bak and continues quickly through the town moving out into the more open lands of farms and open fields. Still well populated in this area. she knew it would get much less so the closer they got to the gorder of the Barren lands.

The day was pleasent enough to enjoy except for their missiong party member. Dae kept a watch out and was the first to spot something she did not expect something was moving their way and a rapid pace greater than normals horse movement. from behind them on the road.

She turned around to get a better look. "We have company coming up fast behind us and fast. Just be prepared."

Loriel reined back Moira a few steps as Linnix approached her, not allowing her too close. She sat quietly on Moira's back keeping her eyes on the woman.

Moodshadow moved forward to keep watch and when Linnix raise her voice, Mooonshadow growled lovly a warning. "Moonshadow," Loirel spoke in a quelling tone "Be still"

To Linnis she requests "Please calm your tone. We can speak on these matters without heat. Say what you need, if we are to work together we must feel free to discuss things freely and peacefully." after that Loriel said nothing. She listen respectfully to Linnix finished what she wanted to say. Her early years of life helped her to remain unfazed by the reactions that her words to Linnix and Bart had seemed to engender anger in the others.

Loriel just waited until Linnix finished before replying. "I have heard what you had to say. I am sorry my words have upset you." Loriel's kept her response cool and controlled. "However it changes nothing of what I needed to say. Bart is our Sponsor, but not knowlwedgeable in the ways of these matters. If you do not want to heed my words then don't but I would be remiss if I didn't share my experience with him and you and the possible problems this method of travel might cause us.

"If those carts break down we may be miles from anywhere were repairs could be made or replacement found. By putting all the supples is one cart they are all at risk. Your horse looks fit enough, but Bart's mare is pulling her weight, or more, in supplies and gear which she hopefully can do without much problem on smooth flat ground, but she will struggle to pull that up hill and it will strain her even more downhill."

She pauses. "Also we may be forced to leave the road. It would be the first place the enemy would patrol. Those carts are not build to go off road, or to pass through woods and forests. This is something I know about. If you won't listen, that is your problem.

Ariellyn nods to Myra as Selaro greet the cleric she meet the day before yesterday in the Rusty Dragon. She moved in slower to the clerk in the store and took the time to look around was she waited patiently for hin to finished with Myra. As she was waiting Wlbry arrived at the store too, a small world it seem to be about here. People meeting over and again. But mostly like for good reason she figured. They perhaps all sought things on the possiblity of accepting whatever is offered by the Sheriff, that and this is probably the best of the general stores if not the one one.

Ariellyn mental cataloged what she had and just to make sure she took out her note pad that listed what she had left in her backpack and on her person. She had enough staples and rations for at least 10 days and if she had the chance to hunt she could extend thoses easily to a extra week or so. However some flour would be useful, a bit o salt and of course the hot peppers as hot as she could get them.

When the clerk is ready Ariellyn makes her needs known, Good day to you sir." I have need of a few stables and spices. I would like your hottest pepper spice finely ground, about 2-3 pounds depending on the price, and pound of salt, and some thin wrapping paper. It does not need to be good enough to write in. Tell me the price of what those would cost me and I decide what I will purchase"

Subject: Loriel

Loriel had never traveled over this particular terrain between here and their destination. She had no input to add. However, one thing was clear, the wagons would never make it over rough ground and river crossing would be difficult, especially if the rivers were deep and fast. To many unknowns for her to be comfortable making any positive suggestion.

When Bart arrived in his wagon and the old mare. Loriel shook her head. Then Linnix arrived driving a cart as well. Their fate was sealed as far as Loriel was concerned--they would have to travel by road. Neither of these folk seemed to have the slightest realization of how poor a choice of transport these choices were.

Walking over to Linnix she asks her. "Can you not ride that animal? This cart will slow us down considerably, two even more so. if you can get a saddle and bridle it would be of great benefit to our movement rate."

After taking to Linnix she moves over to Bart and talks to him about the dame thing?

"Can you not procure pack mules for these supplies. They are sturdier and more capable of negotiated the unknown terrain than any wagon. Especially if there is a chance to move across country and save us some time and distance.. With these two carts we will be slowed mightly. Mules can carry about 100 lbs each of supplies, and move over difficult terain better than horse can. With these wagons it will be difficult to make more than 15-20 miles a day over relatively dry flat terrain. If it rains hard we will be mired down unable to move for days. They are slow up hills and even slower doen hills."

Looking over the old mare. "I hate to say it I don't think this mare will make it the whole way if she is pushed at all and if she were to go lame we would nave no backup. She might be fine for your farm but not out in cross country terrain."

You should get some mules or pack horses and repack these supplies on them. If you then want to ride this mare she might be up to that much. An another consideration is if we lose the wagon everything is gone, if we lose a pack only part of the supplies will be lost."

This was not an auspicious start for this adventure. Sponsor or not he seemed to have few skills in organizing a trek into the wilds.

Inga finished dressing Hart's wound, after thoroughly cleaning it. No telling what stuff might be floating around her or how Hart's Jacket that got dragged into his wound. Thankfully it was more of a graze than a complete penetration of the flesh.

Inga medic skills were well honed and her finger deft. So she had cleaned, dressed Hart’s wound with ointment, gauze and then wrapped well and fastening in place with paper tape so it won't slip. "Here are a couple of pain killers for now and two more for later. Keep hydrated. Any excessive pain or if you see bleeding through let me know."

Inga finishes off by patching up Hart's jacket with several layers of gauze, and a layer of Mylar tape to cover the holes. "You're fit to return to duty but nothing too stressful on that arm." Inga packs away everything neatly in its right place and all bios wastes go into a small bio trash bag for later disposal.

Inga looks around for W/O Blake and moves over towards her. Excuse me, ma'am. Permission to speak, Ma'am." Corp. Johannsen salutes Warrant Officer Blake.

If permission is granted, "I've been listening to the goings on and thinking that what is reality for these men is not our reality. I do hop the Lieutenant can talk them down, because I thinks we need to ask a few question that might lead us to a better understanding of what they think is real. You're our scientist, computer specialist and probably the best to ask these soldiers once we get a chance to talk to them without guns drawn between us. That blue field might be part of the problem here. They or we might not be where we are supposed to be. Anyway those are my thoughts so far."

(Waits for reply)

"Oh good, looks like the Lieutenant was successful. Got to see if he wants me to check them out. Inga is instantly the medic waiting for orders.

"I thnak you for your offer of breakfast but I have several things I need to take care of first. I will meet you in one hour at the gate, and ake care of my own breakfast." Loriel politely declined his offer.. She had taken care of herself for many years and liked it take way.

Loriel truthfully had a few things she wanted do in the city in the hour she had been given. She looked for a nearby inn to satisfy perhaps two of her errands in one place. Ranger, Wolf-dog and mount moved together through the now almost empty city center to a find decent inn. And Moonshadow would make the choice. When they found the first Moonshadow muzzle lifted in the air her sensitive nostril analysizing what she smelled. If Moon shadow moved foreard Loriel would go in if she turned away she wouldn't enter. Moonshadow moved away from the first but stopped at the second and moved foreard. Okay agrees Loriel and moves to the hitching post.

Outside the inn Loriel ties up Moria to the hitching rail ansd she calls for a stableboy. "Hallo, Stable boy." once one appears (boy, girl, or man) she continues, "I will tie my mare here and I wont be long but I would like you to bring her a bucket of oats. and I will purchase two sacks of corn and barley as well filled to the brim. I will inspect them for cleanlisness and quality if they meet my needs I will purchase both." Moonshadow steps out from Moira's shadow and follow Loriel into the inn. The massive wolf dog cross is her constant companion.

Loriel sride quickly inside th einn, she does not have time to waste and any of here errands and that includes breakfast."

"Innkeeper" she calls out." What do you have that is ready quickly." and I need a double bowl of last nights meat stew in a big bowl. Moonshadow's appetite was commenserate with her size. In the forest Soonshadow could hunt which she often did providing for the both of them. Here in the city it was Loriel's responsibility ot make sure Mooonshadow was feed. They were a team their skills complimented each other. The whole being stronger than the sum of it parts, Loriel's skills mind, knowledge, training, weapons were her contributing while Moonshadow's were her ears, eyes and nose her speed and power that were her part.

Breakfast ordered Loriel asks the innkeeper, "Do you have extra hot pepper spice for sale? "The hotter the better and if you don't where can I find a shop that sells such things."

A Name Generator is a great idea, Elven, Dwarf, Human names, etc. There are a lot of lists out there already with names in them for various races. I gound seveal elven name generators. Perhaps links to those will help as well.

Dice Roller. RPOL.net has a dice roller accessable seperately for each game. Only members of that game can make or had there their rolls recorded there all rolls are posted there for DM to verify, they cannot be edited by anyone. Tt also has a capability for secret rolls, result are only seen by the Dm/moderator and person making the secret roll. (Secret rolls are posted in same list as others but only readable by those two parties) In the meantime Devalaro you can do all the rolling yourself. Players just post what they are going to do and you roll results. IF it is for a game their is a great Dm Program DM genie taht lets you run a whole battle with a push of one putton. you can Put PC in it and make NPC too. also heeps characters updated as well.

ANother usefull generator is a trait generatoe. List of personality traits a person might have. they could be divided up into good, traits, nuetral traits and bad traits. LEt me tell you their are a ton of them. I made one up for another systen and have over five hundred listed though they are not broiken inot good, nuetral or bad yet.

WHich reminds me RPOL. had that same (private message capability that can be used by players and DM for secret information right in the regular post themselves. So I could make a post to all and a secret post in that same post that only certain parties in on the secret could know. That way Dm can post a knowledge reult or of spot result right in the post to a player withoug anyone else seeing it and without having to make a second private post outseide the game. Actually players can send other players private messages in the posts too without anyone else knowing.

As En’Aranthea speaks Vallendara thought again about killing the priates. Yesterday she was a different person than today. The events that transpired in the lighthouse had affected her. But did not mean she would change her thoughts about killing so drematically perhaps it was oonly the fresh horror of the situation that let her believe she could kill without conscious. THe calousness of the murder done to the family in the light house, had affected her strongly. However was it just a monmentary emotional reaction or something more lasting in a way of shange.. That was a question that she had no answer for now, only time would reveal the true answer, though she did not have the lusxury to wait.

"I could kill them" she said softly, Then agains repeated a bit lowder, "I could kill them." she said with force."for what they did to the lighthouse family" she esclaims.

Val'lendara shook a bit ans she spioke aloud. "I didn't think I could. but this is different than I ever imagined. Howevber, I agree that it is best to try to avoid unnessary bloodshed." She looks to Varuna addressing him, "I was going to volunteer to go. I don't wear weappons except for a dagger. I don't war armor and I am a female. Though you are right, En'Aranthea. Varuna has already make contact with them. I thought I could help in that way since I am not a fighter at all."

"Sometimes I just wish I could do more." Val'lendara finishes softly more to herself than anyone in particular.

Subject: Loriel

Loriel waited for the press of those signing up to resolve themselves into lines before the various sponsors. She had listened carefully to each as they made there offers to those who would follow them to rid the keep of the goblin invaders. A superficial perusal would probably send one to sign up with the smithy, or the mage, perhaps even the jeweler attracted by there offers,. That because few here would weigh their words and offer with the years of experience and knowledge that Loriel possesses.

Here was a farmer, a simple man who daily worked hard to coax crops from his fields and tend his animals. What glory does this provide him? None. What fame does it garner him? None. What riches does he gain? Not much but the produce of his efforts. So what did he have? He had him Inner strength, the strength born of daily confronting all that nature can and will throw at him. Here was a man use to working hard every day, a man capable of long term planning and a steadiness of purpose to prepare, sow, tend and reap his harvest. However, he was probable out of his league when it can to battling goblins, but Loriel wasn’t. She had experience and skills that could help him succeed and now of the other sponsors touched her as did this simple man who stood up there despite the ridicule and made his offer. If he had the strength to do that then she could certainly respect that man. With her talents and skills she could perhaps help him with his dream.

As the crowds began to thin Loriel wove Moira around the edges of the courtyard to where the sponsors were placed about the area signing up those who have decide to give this a try. Despite signing their name many would not complete this mission. She knew that for a fact. Those not firmly dedicated would fade off when the going got tough and no signature on a piece of paper would stop them returning to the more comfortable and safer niches in life. A few would stick it out. Some would go for the money and rewards offered, some for the fame, some for glory. some for honor and pride of country, some went to fulfill dreams. Those whose purpose was strong would stay the course; those less committed would not.

Loriel planned to stay till the job was done. As the lines grew shorter Loriel noticed how few went forward to sign up with the farmer, Bartholomew James. That did not stop Loriel, her mind was made up and her parents knew once she did she could not be easily dissuaded from her chosen course. She watched a Drow sign up with him and that did surprise her but it did not deter her. Loriel dismounted and walked with her mare form Moira on one side of her and Moonshadow on her other side and move forward to sign up. They were a team..

A long figure, horse in hand, a huge wolf dog on her other side approached the sign up table there Bartholomew was. A gnome was there signing up, talking to Bartholomew and so the cloaked figure waits her turn. THe gnome feels a warm breath on his neck. When the gnone turns around there is a huge wold dog immediately behind him. the dog actually had to drop her head to look the gnome in the face. "Don't worry comes a voice from the cloaked figure. She likes gnomes."

Loriel then turns to Bartholomew, “I will sign with you,” came the melodic voice from under the hood of her elegant deep green cloak. A slender hand, gloved in supple tanned leather reaches out for the pen. In flowing scrip she signs her full name.

Loriel drops back her hood, and looks to Bartholomew, antithesis in coloring to the Drow who had signed up before her. Loriel’s skin was pale; her hair black with electrum frosting, her eyes a soft shade of violet. “I am Loriel Glyndara Isilimoren, an Elven ranger. I will follow you to wipe out the goblins in the keep. I am ready to ride now. And I think as soon as the last signs up we should go if we are to get there first.”

Val listens to the various to the others trying to figure out what other things she can perhaps cast b3fore they get into battle. Eight does not seem that many but there could be more and they were all fighting men. The cleric, Varuna would only kill if necessary, and she would defend herself but her skill in fighting was not with weapons of steel.

One option crosses her mind as to what might help their cause. "You know we might try to enlist the aid of the Lizard Folk. They certainly want those pirates out of there territory as well. If we enlist their aid then we gain a numerical advantage which might make the pirates think twice. Much as she wanted to destroy them for what they had done it did come to her mine that with a superior force they could also negotiate with the pirates to leave.

Val’lendara fought with herself about mentioning this but finally she decides to present the idea.

"If we get the Lizard fold to help us we could also.... perhaps....just get the pirates to leave." Vall's adds honestly but not enthusiastically.

Of course it would be easier for the flow of a battle to post in initiative order but it will also take more time to complete a round. especially with peoples posting at different times and having to wait for the post and result to be posted before posting their actions..

I also like the idea of people posting in non-order too and with conditional actions based on previous characters moves and results. THen I can go back and edit post for the actually action that takes place.

So it could be aither way for me I will go with majority.

"Well we are back to nearly where we started out from. Lorae. Back to whre............" Brianna;s voice trailes off and she rises suddenlyand walks to a window to look out. Staring into the darkest. Back to where Jerred lost his life her best friend and companion from the Forbidden Isles. His deather had hit her hard. She had cremated his body it was what he had wanted being so far from hom the thought his essence had a chance to get back if he was smoke in the wind. She had done it herself. gathers the wood, laid the prye and place him upon it. She doused him with oil to speed the flames and then set the torch to his remains.

The memory still hurt but is had lessened some from those first days and weeks that followed. Ansd know they were back with a new group of fine comrades. SOftly tothe night she whispered "I still miss you my friend, but it hurts less now. Be at peace with you God."

Brianna returns to the table and sits down again. Flame scuttles back form the tankard as Brianna has to rescue her tankard, that is not quite hwlf full anymore.

"You left it," the little dragonette wqueaks out hidding behind the pitcher on the table. just his head picking on one side of hisand his tail on the other side as well.

"You;re right I left it you can finish it off."

Turning to the others gather at the table she lifts the fresh tankard from the table. We worked together well today and sent many of that evil trash to oblivion where it belongs.

Stnding up and saluting each of them Brianna toeasts them all "Here is to us." She tips out a small portion on the gound "And this is for the Great Goddess." She takes a long swig and sits down in good company.

Vallyndara listens to the Bladesinger when she returhas to the group carefully. IN a battle she has little to offer herfew offensive spells though might be of some help. The information was favorable for them to attack tonight. She had a strond suspision that the pirate that fled form them was taken out bu the Reptilians befoe her ever got back to his camp. SHe was quite sure they had keep watch from their hiding places and saw the pirate run.

Carefully considering what she has prepared Val'lendara makes plans to use her few offensive spells.

"I have some spells that may help us. I could cast sleep first before we attack. then when we attack those not effected I could us Color Spray next. These spells might help us with the numbers wer have to face." Val'lendara offers to the conversation.

Val'lendara had no scurples about using those spells against the pirates after what they had done to the family in the lighthouse. None at all. A militant light shown in her eyes as she told the others of her contribution to the elimination of the pirates. IT was easier for her to think of them as vermin to be eliminated, especially she they possised not one iota of humaity. Vermin such as these men had proven themselves to be need to be eradicated.

At the Rusty Dragon

IF you don not mind I will accompany you this morning. I really have nothing else to do with my time and it might be a way for me to find out more about Sand Point. Finishing her simple meal she waits for Selaro to ride and lead the way. Out in the streets she makes mental notes of where they go and looks at the shop fronts they pass fo rthings she may need. Arrows being one of her main needs.

Out with Selaro.

MostlyAriellyn just looks about her. quite literate even in common she quickly reads the shop signs many useing symbols as well as words for those who don't read. Common goods are often displayed openly so buyers are drawn by the products of a shop. Some actually call out what their wares are.

Selaro makes her was to a well guarded shop. Two burly guards give them a look over before calling out into the shop "Customers" and let they pass inside. As Selaro moves up to the store clerk or owner since she is nt sure she stays a step back since she has no buiness to transact.

Ariellyn does look about to see what is offered though.

Siliven, her mistake as soon as the horses started to tug and pull in their fright. Fortunately with warning from her party she got them tied up agin but left them with longer lengths so that they could rspond to any attacks on themselves. She was making her way back to the others when she tripped over an unseen root fallen face foreard inot the duft of the forest. THE olny things she could do was move her arms out in front of her to cover her face so that her hesd did not hit the ground full force.( Didn't know elves could be that clumsy.)

It was a fortunate fall. The wolf that lunged to attack her went clear over her head and had to slow and turn before coming back to attack, which it ws doing. Riddle broke for the others and moved over to cover her. However she would not wats time getting up her weapon could be used even while she was on the ground. brining her lands up from where they had moved to break her fall. Dompoasing herslef she gathered together the arcane energies together and wove them as she chanted the words of magic missle so as to hurl a dancing spark of energy at the wolf before her.
