"Ach, Draven Laddie, I'd be only doing it for your own good. You know that. It be silly to tempt the ill favor spirits with such actions. Fo it as soon as you can that is all I ask of ye. A little thing I am sure."

Geim turns away. No he would not attempt to undress Draven He had hoped thought that it would have helped Draven think about doing what was asked. Ach the lad would not be shown the way he march to his own drumbeat whether for good or ill Geim knew not.

A bit defeated Geim clumped away. Some the wellness that he felt near the tree seeming to fade a bit. He felt older and more weary. His eyes continued to tear up with the red goo and he continued to wipe it away.

"Come Loda Lass there a lot to get done before we can rest. Kharox bless us all this day and the departed souls."

Geim retrace the trail with the others. The canny-eyed elves kept them on the right trail. Trees were trees and they were all about. Though he did notice that the forest was not as alive as it was near where the white willow stood.

lady Quindalay made her adoes to them at the inn. "That be fine Lady, We be taken care of them proper like, Don't you worry none.

Geim wipes his eyes again as he had to do several times on the return trip. The goo still continued to gather right at the inner corner of his eye.

"Draven lad fo as the lass says she knows what she is doing. Look at me goo dripping from my eyes and you were captured same as me. Don't tempt fate especially one you can avoid." go strip off those clothes and wash them out. If you don't I will come over there and strip you down myself. Geim threatens.

"Elessarae, lassie, Would you have me wear away? We can get started here with the dead. Not need to wash first since we will need to wash later, no point of taken two baths in one day." Geim chuckle mainly as a release. Lets get going. Well divide up the town and bring out the bodies. Two people together we still don't know what may be out there. IF this tree ws so bad for so long I just bet a platinum to a copper that there is more out there.

"Hey, Loda Lass, lets me and you join up and show these others how two Khords get the job done."

Loriel gets up as Aelistae asks for someone to go with her.

"I will. It would be a pleasure to accompany you." Loriel gathers her things leaving nothing behind for pilfering hands to go through and makes her way with Aelistae through the town. There are many who just stare at the unlikely duo and others that call out insulting remarks.

Loriel walk quietly alongside of Aelistae. if human town was strange to her they were strange in a different way to Loriel. Oh she had been in some of the great elven cities but they were as natural as they could be, living things were incorporated into the buildings and all manner of growing things all around. Human cities were stone and wood, wattle and daub in so poorer sections very little of what was natural remained after they had built. The other thing that got her was the smell of over packed humanity. The poorer parts of the city offended her sense but politeness made her able to keep her reactions to herself.

Loriel was not sure what she wanted. The elven chain was certainly beautiful as it plays through Aelistae hands it sparkled brightly like the splashing of water hitting rocks in full sunlight. It almost looked liquid in her hands. Not the rough common steel mail. She could afford such a thing but what she really wanted was a bow of magic and magic arrows as well.

But she could appreciate the fine quality of the elven mithral chain mail shirt. IT was a bit more than would be asked in her own lands but such a thing is a rarity.

To Aelistae she says ax she moves up to touch the fine elven shirt. "It is a thing of beauty and weighs a fraction of what steel does. I think it would suit you style of fighting very well."

Looking to the man she asks as Aelistae thinks about the chain shirt. "Excuse me, do you sell bows here or just armor? I am looking for a special bow, a magical one if posible"

Aelistae’s and Loriel

Loriel watches Aelistae’s movement away from her after she addressed the issue of her state of dress which really had nothing to do with that state at all. Loriel had just veiled her comment in those terms but knew Aelistae would also know what she was talking about,

“I just had to mention this to you. Please do not take it amiss. My hand I tendered as a promise of faith in each other’s sense of what is right and good. I continue to believe that even though I asked what I did. Forgive me if I have offended our new accord. Take it as words said in friendship and not criticism. I do not know if I could walk the path you have chosen with so many who would judge you not by your actions but by the color of your skin and the reputation of your race.”

Loriel then finally got some solid sleep more at peace with herself and her offer of her friendship to Aelistae. The woman would have enough problems outside the group with others who would judge her skin and not her heart.

Day of Travel

In the morning as she arose and got started there was an contretemps between Kas and Linnix. Neither one could see the others point of view in this matter. Fortunately Kas did not take it to far and the matter thankfully was dropped for now, however it was not settled and that hung in Loriel’s mind as she rode. Kas was right in one thing they were not a united group, that when they did join together in a common goal they did better than when they all did there own thing. Loriel knew this was true of any group who sought to work together not just theirs. So what to do to help them meld together, Loriel thought to herself that her own actions and deeds and speaking truthfully and treating all fairly, those would help and being open to differences. She thought on it as she rode and act on it when she could. For now on the trail she acted and scout and lookout. Moonshadow could and did cover more ground even than Loriel, not so much curious but hopeful of a snack or two on the way. Moonshadow was a great huntress she had fed the two of them many times; hares, squirrels, and other small mammals, snakes and lizards too had made up some of their dinners. .

Castle Tethtry

Wilds gave way to cultivated lands as they neared the Castle. Bart mentioned that it was the last place they could get supplies at before moving onto their final goal the castle overrun by Goblins. Loriel didn;t go far she went with Bart until he procured lodgings and first off ordered a hot bath.

Before everyone takes off in different directions Loriel rides over to Artanis, "Artanis if you would like to share the bath with me then as soon as we are done and can find out iwhat we might get for the sale of the loot I will join you to help you reupply. I do have some extra coin if that will help you.

Loriel was not fastidipus but she kept herself as clean as possible and had not been able to bathe recently. She would not go out until she had thoroughly washed herself and freshened up. Her clothes still smells of smoke and char and too many days without being waasked. Whichi is the second things she did. When the Bath was brought into her room she had her clothes taken to be washed.

Basically she watch for Bart and Elesia to return with how much the various items would fetch.

It seems he was being protected from being located as she was. Well that was fine by her.

"Well, all of you, it seems like we are now up so let us not waste this time. How about we breakfast early and set out as soon as we are done. The sooner we get to those hills the better."

Xuor had joined them and she had a ready welcome for him a s he joined Highnar and herself. Highnar was a capital dwarf and totally lived up to Brinna's idea of the hard drinking tough as nails race she knew from her homelands--fully capable of holding his liquor regardless of how much he drank,. She match him tankard for tankard glass for glass until finally she knew she was done for the night.

She remember standing up and heading for upstairs " Good night all and one or two of you left. I am off for bed she got out not to slurred. We are moving on in the morning adn I hope you will join Lorae and I on our hunt for the possible trail of the Dark One. Just let us know tomorrow if you are planning on continuing with us. Highnar it has been a honor and a priv_lege, ori--vi-lege to fight along side you. Xuor you are very good with that bow of yours. You made those Orcs look like porcupines . Good fellows, both of you. Now I am......off to bed....by myself, thank you." and Brianna left the table fairly steadily and made her way to her room

In the morning Brianna found herself in her bed still dressed and could not remember how she got there exactly. Nor much about the last part of the evening. She knew she had gotten drunk, somethign she had not done in a long time a very long time. She hadn't had the time or the privilege of betting drunk. Brianna got up slowly her head pounded a bit was she rose to vertical supporting herself by the bed post.

There was a pitcher of water set in a basin on a small table in the room. Brianna poured it over her head. It was cool and helped her to clear her thoughts.

Brianna stripped out of her clothes form the day before and used the water now in the basin to freshen herself up. Dressing in a fresh set she tuck away all her things into her pack and went downstairs. Now knowing who or what she would find down there.

Dae walks into the common room from the stable yard to find the rest up and gathered for breakfast. Morgan she noted was transformed by his ring to disguise who he was. SHe also noted taht despite the the healing he received there were still dark shadows under his eyes.

Dae hoped it did him some good though. "Light make it so" she intones under her breath. She had rising with the sun to greet it and the new day was was her custom. Then she had the stablemen prepare their horses so all would be ready for the journey when they had finished breakfast.

Closing over to the table she caught just the end of what Moraglin was saying to Oko.

"Good Morning, I have all the horses being saddled and made ready so when we are finished we can get started again." said Dae as she moves forward to their table. "I would like to get a early start and make as much time as possible to Harrington." which is not the way they were headed but night put someone off their trail. not that she could see any other than local types in here for breakfast before setting to their days labors. However thought Dae not being use to the skullduggery, the best spies would appear to be nothing more that locals. Dae did not like subterfuge she like things straight out and unfortunately thing like what she was faced with right now.

Subject: Moraglin's Entrance

Moraglin finishes preparing herself for the journey today. There was not much in the way of civilization beyond this place except for small town or two and villages of various sizes gradually giving way to the wilds that ws the last land before the barrens. There ws nothing beyond that well supposedly nothing but the reports that she had read before accepting this assignment. Not that she was happy about it. Her talents were best used in a civilized enviorment. wher her quick wit and intelligence could make a difference.

Here Moraglin was almost to nowhere stuck with a Ranger who hardly said a word, two do gooders and a man on the verge of sanity and perhaps a step over the line. She was supposed to deal with all this and find out what was going on out there where nothing should be.

Morabglin had more than a bad feeling about this adventure, she had had a premonition, a dream when she first decided to undertake this. However Moraglin was not one to give into premonitions without facing it head on in her own way.

Well everyone should be down there by now so it ws time to make her entrance this morning.

She gave an unnecessary twitch to her long split riding gown, long but not quite to the floor, over tight fitting pants and tall boots all decorated with pierced leather and inlays of red and purple in the jet black. She colored her lips and eyes as if going out. Her warpaint so to speak. With a twitch of her hips she sweeps the things into her handy haversak and swung open her door and descended to the main floor of the comon room.

Moraglin's eyes sweep the room and quickly spot Zara, Oko and Ah! Yes, Morgan as he called himself, setted together.

She crossed the room with an easy swaying walk ther elegant gown swishing softly as only the finest silk does.

"Good Morning all, well almost all where is you charming sister Zara? she seems not to be present. I took her for one who would be up early chiding us to hurry and get going. I guess she stayed awake to long last night.

"Hmm, Morgan did you have some tender loving care from our prim miss? Those shadows under you eyes just won't do my boy. With the restoration I gave you yesterday you should have recovered you health overnight without a problem unless you were disturbed and did not eat and sleep as I told you to. Where is the darling girl now? Did you tire her out last night?"

"Well I will have breakfast now and then I do believe we well move on. No rush though."

"Good Morning Oko, I hope I may call you that" Moraglin gives the pure Felani male an assessing look.. "I hope you are feeling fit as a fiddle this fine morning. Perhaps today I can get an opportunity to find out more about you." Moraglin with with a light arch of interest in her eyebrow.

"Geim, I am glad that I brought you back. When I seen that you were in trouble I didn’t hesitate at all to save ya. I could'nt let such a fine specimen of dwarf slip through my fingers so easy."

Loda winked at Geim, and smiled.

Geim was surprised both by his comments that he thought might be rude but Loda seemed to have no issue with what he said or the way he said it and by her following response.

"And if you would think of me as much as I think of you just by laying off the drink, I'll do it in a heartbeat!"

Loda slapped Geim on the butt, and walked off towards the tree, laughing loudly to herself with Gothard by her side.

His hand went down to rub over where she had smacked him on the butt, not that it hurt, no, not at all. It just gave him something to do with his hands for that moment. Geim chuckled as bit to himself as he watched Loda walk away—not bad looking lass at all. Her occupation was a bit different, being a Dwarven Ranger was out of the ordinary. And her drinking to excess but still she was as fine as a companion as one could wish for.

All these good folk were as fine as set of companions in difficulty that one should wish for. Geim now had time to look around him. “Okay, anyone need healing?”

It was then that Geim heard Elessarae tell everyone who had been contaminated by the tree to strip themselves of their clothes. So that is what he did. He went off to find some conveniently thick undergrowth and strip and wash himself down with water from his water skin taking some extra time to wash his eyes again that seemed to still be running. After changing his clothes he gathered up his things, and made his reappearance in fresh clothes.

Help is here but she did not think there were many otherwise they may have attack all out. The bac part of all this is that she seemed to be in the middle of the spell and it would take her a long time to cut the boy out and make their way out of the area of the spells effect. It really was more of a hindrance than a help right now. She had been so close to getting the boy free.

Tiana with ax is hand is stuck as is the goblin nearest to her. The boy was so badly entangled by the spell that he would need to be cut out of the vegetation that literally covered him up.

Actually that was a good thing perhaps that he was right now, he was difficult to see and she was standing right next to him. That meant he was not easy target for goblin arrow. The goblins before her had his bow out and was loading it. He was her target. (If nexessary she will close one step or half a step I did not know if suwares at five foot or not. She takes her time, reamaining a quiet as possible since his attention is othe the one who had come to bargain with them. She will strike aiming for the torso a nice broad target swinging the ax as powerfully as she can. She brings the ax around into the goblin.

Geim came back to consciouness as gar as he was concerned only moment after returning to the land of the living. Opening his eyes on Loda who was holding his head and looking down at him. "Your a sight for sore eyes there lassy. Best thing I have seen in a while. That was some powerful healing you did. I fell fine as a fittle except my eyes are all yucky like I over slept.

Damn tree tried to kill me. Nearly did I have you to thank for that. It felt like a bear had hug the breath out of me. I know it was bad as I was out walking the Great Dwarven Road and was almost to the gates of Kharox's Great Hall. Mighty fine place that it is." Geim was unnaturally loquacious, most likely it confirmed to him that him he was alive to talk to others.

Ach! Enough of this laying a about. Give me a hand there Loda lass I have to see whats happened. I quess we won this one. Is everyone else okay?

With help Geim gets up feeling a lot better than he has in some time. refresh restored invigorated. He wipes his eyes again with his sleeve they were gummy.

You know lass you are a comely lass when you have no time for all that drinking--it is bad for you health. Geim suddenly stop., Never mind lass forget I mentioned it I don't know why I did.

Geim looks about the the whole place had changed. Gone ws the sick tree lashing out furiously at them with it sickly white trunk and branches that had nearly been the death of him. Geim felt himself shudder a bit. IN it place was a tree that had little resemblance to it former state. Its trunk was gleaming white, not the flat deathly white it was before. Gone was the red veined leaves looking as if blood had course through it them and not sap. Now it leaves shone bright as mithral and it branches reach to the heavens. Geim was even award of the birds breaking into song nearby and other sounds of the forest that were natural not something he was normally very aware of.

Before Aelistae’s statements to Kas

Loriel sat down beside the Draw Priestess so there were at the same level what she had so day was as one to another fairly on equal terms. “Aelistae you have shown me that Drow can be other that our traditional enemies. Too know that there are Drow that are good and to work with one who is is two vastly different things. You have given freely of your talents and skills in the many trying situations that we have encounter so far. I wish to extend my hand in friendship to you as one being to another beyond the dictates of histories or the acts of others. You have been a staunch ally all the way. Loriel’s eyes are open and frank and there is a honest ring to her words as if spoken from the heart. Her hand held out to the Drow Priestess, “As one comrade to another.”

**Aelistae's reply**

Loriel paused and then looked down as if what she has to say next does not come easily, “Aelistae I will not ask what went on with you last night away from camp but I hope that it will in no way interfere with what we have undertaken for Bart.” Please do not take the intent of my words as any criticism or reproof. It is just that you turning up in a man’s shirt and little else was noticed, at least by me.” She waits t see what Aelistae has to say then goes about her other self-appointed tasks making ready for a day of travel.

One of those tasks was to recover the body of Marcus’s mother. After telling Bart what she was doing. With her horse and rope and Moonshadow's help to stand guard she leaped the pit again and went back to the room and wrapped the women in the blanket. Loriel does a quick search of the room for anything useful but only found seven sticks, each with a crudely painted eye on each of them. Back at the at the edge of the pit she left her securely tied with rope and then made a running leap back across the open pit and used her horse to pull the woman’s body across it to the other side. She brings then pulls the body across her saddle and lashed it down to the saddle. When back at the camp she also checks out all the horses and their condition of body and their shoes. For a want of a horse shoe nail the shoe could be lost and a horse lamed.

After the confrontation.

Loriel moves towards the two different as night and day literally as well as figuratively. “I can confirm most of what she said except for who was in camp when Kas went back to ask for help for Artanis. Only Xaris came and then he disappeared below from he pit where the Giant Spider was. Later he came back was able to get Artanis up and get got her across the pit. I didn’t know why the others didn’t come I did not know why Linnix refused to, but with Xaris’s help we got Artanis back and Marcus too.

"But Kas, do not count us out. We are learning to work together and we were able to when you needed rescuing and when we fought the Ogre. Like a newly wed couple that thinks they know each other well enough to marry and then after the wedding there are some bumps and turns they did not expect. We are learning to work together. We are just in the early stages of coming to know and depend on one another. If we build on our strengths we should be able to help Bart out on his quest and rid the area of the influence of goblins that seem to have taken over in more places than just that castle. That is our reason for our being out here. Bart has taken up a mission from his queen along with three other groups to rid this castle to the north of goblins so that trade can flow again. It is a good goal to undertake why don’t you join us, if Bart agrees.”

Loriel looks over to Bart to see what he would say.

By the way in game play we should rest and recover spells before we make the final push I am down to like 3 spells ot maybe even two

Loriel did not say she would not ask for anythign only that it could wait until morning when we could perhaps get together and decide who gets what. After all of all that has been found Loriel has nothing from any loot take except money. She gave the spear and the shield to others, Linnix had the sword even though she lost it.

Loriel's thoughts on the matter of who should get what are to protect our front line fighters as best as possible given them the best of the weapons and shield and armor and such. That would be for Xaris, Artanis and probably Kas as well. Next protect our magic users Elesia, and Aelistae. Loriel wears light armor and is a bow specialist she she could use the RoP 1 or the Bracer of Armor 1. but she would arm the magic users before her with these items since they are restricted from wearing armor. Most likely she would not find the cloak useful in her line of work as it is too incumbering.

Moonshadow hearing her name looks up expectantly to Loriel her mouth open wide in a wolfish grin white fangs glitter against the deep pink of her cavernous mouth and she yawns wide and then snaps her mouth shut hard. The sounds of crunching bones could be imagined very easily

There was much to take care of in the aftermath of the altercation that took place outside while she was in the cave searching for captives. She did turn to ask Marcus if he had seen or heard about any other captives of the goblins and orcs.

Marcus looked at Loriel and he smirked at her pointy ears, he hadn't ever been around elves before. as Loriel asked him about the cave and his knowledge of any other captives he shook his head. "Nope, just my mom and me, there were some before us I think, but they were eaten by the sounds of things and tossed down the giant king’s holes."

Loriel asked, "Have you seen this giant king?"

Marcus nodded his head enthusiastically and stretched up real tall on his tippy toes "He was REALLY BIG and smelly and carried around a Axe bigger than I was!" Marcus began stomping around the campsite going "BOOM, BOOM, BOOM" as he stepped.

Marcus stopped suddenly and stared at the pile of stuff they had collected earlier, propped up against the cave wall was the Ogre’s Huge Ax and his armor Marcus stare at it ant then at the companions. “Oh, my Gosh! That’s his stuff! You guys killed him. "Kapow!" He said as he slammed one fist into his open palm. "You guys are awesome!"

Loriel was amazed by the boys quick shift of emotions, but at least this was better than dwelling on he recent lost. She pulled out her bedroll and handed it to Marcus. “It is late now, use this out and get to sleep.” Loriel decided to take a simple direct approach to handle him for now keeping emotional ties out o it. He was young and had suffered lost but he was old enough to where he needed to develop independence. He was going to have to travel with them until they found a safe place for him to stay. That might be hard. Form the sounds of what the two men had said to Kas the whole area was plagued with orcs and goblins and their might not be a safe place for him to stay.

Loriel took out her extra winter blanket she would use that for Moonshadow and herself this night or what was left of this night. While she sat on the blanket Moonshadow at her side Artanis reappeared looking a whole lot better than the last time she had seen her. The tall warrior woman was dressed in a etheral gown of the finest silk gauze. As she walk into the cave with the low fire reflecting off her front and and the moon shinning behind her She was truly lovely in a way Loriel had not imagined she could look like.

“Artanis, you look a hundred times better than when I found you,” Loriel said quite truthfully. I was afraid you wre going to die before I could get you help. And byt the that gown looks splendid on you.” She gives a slight laugh, not esactly your mormal adventuring attire. Perhaps these men will know of where we can purchase what you have lost, I brought out the shield but I think we need to identify it before it is used again. Now you and Xaris need your rest the rest of us will take watches as needed. I will take first watch, Kas can take second. Aelistae, Elesia, Linnix, and Bart what can you do to help us out this night?

**Watches settled**

Elesia told them about the three items she had identified. All useful items but as to whom should they go to, Loriel’s mind refused to contemplate any more this night. She moves over and lays the winter blanket down folded against the cold of the stone floor and lays down on it and catches cat naps throughout the night. Rising at random times to check on their parole, Moonshadow and the rest of the camp.

Loriel heard LInnix but the woman sounded distressed and so she continued on, Moonshadow quickly trailing the missing party member. Moonshadow barked when he found her first.

Loriel rounded a small stand of trees and saw Linnix standing against a tree her head done and the sounds of soft weeping. She dismounted quickly from her mare and and move closer. "Are you injured? Can I help you?" She was genuinely concerned for the smaller woman. Who knows what had happened to her out her alone.

Amiri reads the poster on the wall then looks over to the other elf who was also intrested in the information to be found there "It seem we are to give our names to the barkeep and he will pass them on to the ones who solicited for help."

Turning to the other elf who had joined her reading the poster. "My name is Amiri Moondancer. If you are interested in joining this adventure let us return and give the barkeep our names." Amiri surveyed the other elf trying to get an idea of what area their skills lay in.

HEr own appearance was most likely deceptive, being well spoken, intelligent but carrying a long sword and a composite bow and quiver her well muscles wiry body hinted at her bing some kind of fighter. Which she would not deny. She had worked had to earn her mother's favor in following her footsteps. He Mother ranked high in the Sisterhood of the sword. However this ws not her first shoice of occupations her earlier life lead her into the paths of magic and later even into the priesthood. The death of her older sister the apple of her mother;s eye in that Elira was a consummate fighter cause her to add a new facet to her like that of Sister of the Sword. Only sometimes did she regret the long road to rasie her self to the ranks of full sister and to where her mother took pride in her but it meant that she had to put aside inproving her skills in her own chosen paths as cleric and mage.

Now she had taken on this responsibility again for the sake of her mother but with no regrets. SHe had a filling that all her skills and knowledge and abilities could be important in this matter before her. She had done an augury about it at the Temple before she left.

Amiri returns to the bar. "Master Barkeep," she begins politely, "I understand you have list to put names on of those who are interested in this matter. Add the name of Amiri Moondancer to it please. I will also order dinner and drink so please send a serving girl over," and with that she returns to the table where she had been sitting before. I would like to order a room for tonight at least she fishes out coins to pay for her night's lodging and passes it over.

Amiri weaves easily through the tables and patrons moving about. It is as if she knows where they are moving to and thus deftly avoids any contact. Sitting down at the table she waits for the serving girl before ordering a bottle elven spring wine and a simple dinner of stew, bread cheese and a fruit tart to finished it off. Oh I would like a second bowl of the please my companion will be joining me shortly.
