Loriel moves forward calling Linnix's name. "Linnix. Linnix> Can you hear me? Are you alright?" Loriel moves outward from the cave mouth looking and listening.

Loriel sends out Moonshadow and she follows just behind. Hunting for Linnix who might have been hurt or carried away. She grabs up her horse and mount bareback using the lead rope as a rein.

Since their target had so kindly obliged her and stepped up so high Raiel have as clear shot at him. She had seen the dark wave of energy heal the man that it should have harmed. Curse dark powers.

Raiel tool a stride away from where she had places the invisible box and readied her bow and fires two arrows as one (many shot I think that is all I can take this round as I had to take out my bow) if I get another one then I take one single shot more.continue to fire her bow since she had hurt him before.)

"Heal this," she growled lowly as she released her arrows that speed on their way, while she notched another one ready to fire again.

Loriel bit her lips to contain a smile. She might imaging how this man felt with the black skinned priestess before him with her blade drawn and dripping blood, that seems to be his because there was not a mark on the ...man's shirt. Loriel took a second look at the Priestess. She would have to find out about that later. She moved forward with her bow drawn aimed at the man on his knees.

She took a head count quickly, Bart, in the cae mouth,. Elesie, Aelistae, Kas on her war horse, Xarius with her and Artanis back in the cave with the boy.

"Where is LInnix?" she asks looking about her.

Subject: Siliwen A Voice in the Night and Something More

Their trip was long and hard into unknowen territories. THey had only the start to guide them and thankfully they did for otherwise Siliwen believed they could have easily lost hthere way several times. They traveled swiftly making cold camps at night and sharing rations for their meals.

Siliwen feels Riddle hand on her shoulder but her eyes see that which she was told to expect. THe shape of the shadow "was indistinct. and she could make out no true form.

It ws Alacran's voice she heard, she was sure of it, but she had also her Joriel's form and voice days earlier and was sure it was him as well. Thankfully she had rested well each night she since putting on the amulet. Good sleep had helped her make it though the long days of riding.

Siliwen's mind was not yet convinced of the truth of what it was that was nothing more than a shadow to her perception but she would try to trust what she heard. Siliwen rises upp next to Riddle. Leaning close to Riddle taking strength form his presence and standing close to his left side but leaving his right side free if what was is the shadow proved hostile. She whispers softly "Alacran says he sent someone to help us. This may be him."

Siliwen she raise her voice to speak to the shadowy form in the darks woods even with h er infravision. "If you are he who comes from Alacran to join us, please make yourself known to us. You are welcome here in his name."

What me, Sneaky? I am s straightforward sort of person. Goblin drops ax. Tianna picks up ax. Goblin pays attention to newcomer. Tianna pays attention to Goblin, close attention with his axe in her hand. Notice how straightforward was my charge and attack. If I can't hit him, I can try to knock him down.

Subject: Geim

Geim knew where he was when he picked himself up off the ground on the broad hero highway. There above him build out of the towering rocky cliffs was the finest example of Dwarven master builders. The palace home of Kharox, God of the Dwarves. The stones fit so tightly that no seam could be found and polished until they shown like gems though they were made of the strong bones of the earth. Geim knew all the stories that had come down to Dwarves over the millenia---was not he a cleric of Kharox?

All Dwarves knew one day they would walk this road though he did not expect it to come so soon, Good or evilm lawful or chaotic or anywhere in between, Geim tried to look on his life objectively. Had he done well in the sight of Kharox,? That question weighed heavily on his mind---nay, on his soul. He had served Kharox for most of his adult years as cleric and loremast3re. Had he done his best? Geim sighed IF was not what he felt he had done that mean a a stone chip worth of difference Kharox would judge him fairly one way of the other.

Geim did have one regret hanging heavy on his mind. He did not know how his companions had fared, he only knew he had fallen and would not get up, not in the mortal world at least. Perhaps he could ask Kharox, at least about how Loda faired Though a stranger dwarfness he had never known. A Druid. Gaim shook his head, but she was staunch in a battle she and her companion, perhaps Kharox would not answer Geim's question about her none-the-less he would ask.

With steady strides, Geim’s short legs carried him steadily onwards climbing the Great Dwarven Road upwards. He did not tire, he felt no pain, his pack felt weightless. The ache in his chest was as if it happened long ago and been forgotten except for memory that it did happen. He wished his comrades well and though only Loda was a dwarf, they had all stood together during many trying times that had tested their mettle. Each dwarf walked this road alone, to meet with and be judged by Kharox.

Suddenly Geim felt faint, darkness wiped away his vision and he must have fallen because he could feel himself on the ground and partially sitting up struggling against the darkness of his vision and against the overwhelming disorientation he felt--and pain. Smells and sounds assailed his ears and nose. For a moment he seemed to struggle to breathe, but it hurt too much to take a deep breath. Then it faded again as the earth shook beneath him.

Geim regined his sense and the world righted itself. He picked himself up off the ground and dusted off his pants and continued on. He was back here on the road just about where he last remember. It was quite a climb up the Great Road winding back and forth from the valley floor to the hieights above wher Kharox's Great palace stood reaching for the heavens themselves. UP Geim went though he felt no strain. The sky was brilliant blue and the air warm and filled with heady scent of earth and stone Geim felt better than he had for years. LIke a yound Dwarf in the prome of his life.

He steps seem to speed him forward as if there were some sort of traveling spell on him or the road. It wasn’t far now, another few bends in the road had zig zag up the cliff face to the base of the palace fortress of Kharox. As Geim drew closer to the great gates he marveled at the architecture and the skill of dwarven builders, Up close it was even more impressive--and so it should be Geim thought It had dwarven beauty, not the “beauty” that elven work, but the superior dwarven construction that was functional, practical, durable and awesome in size and scope --truly magnificent and worthy of Kharox.

(Waiting on further developments)

Tianna groaned inwardly as the boy cried out in fright. nd sure enough a goblin came over to investigate. He was armed with a handaxe and stood over them yelling something in goblin with his ase ready to strike. Tianna didn't have the slightest idea what he ws saying. she hoped by keeping still he would leave them alone.

A voice rang out using common and suddenly several things happened that gave her a chance to do something. THe goblin standing over her dropped his axs and turned to take up his bow and faced whoever it was calling out to the goblins.

She could reach it if she wanted to try. And that was exactly what she did. she reaches out to take the axe behind the goblin's back.

If she can hit the goblin from where she is she will kneel and strike at the goblin. If not she will take a five foot step and hit him or attack by charging with ax in hand and try taking him down from behind. UP boy and fight for you life Only as she hits the goblin does she call out to the boy Do what you can but don't get yourself killed. If she can take the goblin down she will toss the axe to the boy and take up the goblin's bow She is much better with a bow.

Siliwen nodded at Billy's words. Three was more to him than one would first suspect certainly in his ability to take things in and reply in simple clear words. He had assessed the situation clearly.

"You are right, Billy absolutely. your analysis of the event is precise. We are here and there is no going back until we succeed. Thus the guest we were given is our goal. I can believe that it will help this world from what we have seen of the enemy. So we will get to that quest tomorrow after a good nights rest," Siliwen agrees.

"I wilt also accept that offer to stand watch first. "Ihaven't been sleeping well the last few nights and I am tired and the ride today left my body aching. she put action to her words and unrolls her bedroll and tosses down her winter blanket in case it got cold later.

Dragging her pack to her bedroll she sit down and carefully unpack the bundle where her trail rations are kept. Pulling out a bar of dried fruit and handful of nuts "Cold rations tonight will mean we don't have to risk a fire."

Taking out her spell book as well Siliwen studies her spells while she eats. Water is what she has to wash it all down with water that has been a a water skin now for several days. it is not cold nor does it taste fresh but it is at hand.

Siliwen's eyes begin to flicker as the tiredness sweeps over her. She yawns and looks over to the others. "Wake me when it is my watch," Siliwen tells her companions. Then she packs everything away including her precious spell book so that if they had to move quickly everything was ready to go. She would not be caught with her things scattered about as she was this morning.

Siliwen slips into her bedroll and tucks her back pack under her. reaching into her tunic she takes the amulet in her hands and closes her eyes. Her thoughts, before she quickly drifted off to sleep were that she I hoped the amulet will work as Alacran said. Her prayers was for Alacran and then them all that they would be successful.

Raiel drew her composite bow bow and then twanged the string with her fingers trying to get the man committed to a dodge from the sound. Only suddenly the bow disapeared. along with her arrow and her hand She could feel the bow inher hand butnot see it. Looking down the box too was invisible.

Raiel changed her plans in a flash, retuning arrows she slung her bow to her back and she felt for the handles of the box. she had stood next to it to protect it it wasn't hard to do Gripping the handles on both sides she hefted it up and picked her way the room to sind a spot to hide it or if she could get out of the door and the room with it entirely.

That he wanted it so badly made her even more determined he would not get it.

Loriel found Xarius and Artanis near the bridge when she returned with the boy. After she introduced the boy briefly to the others she turned to the main task at hand getting Artanis safely to the other side. They take their time easing their way across the two lashes ladders slowly transferring their weight as they moved so as not to strain the structure, but is held up and with a sigh of relief they had crossed safely..

Moonshadow just leaped across not willing to try the bridge again. Soon they would be back in camp and hopefully something more could be done for Artanis. Until then Loriel knew that it would be rough on her now they had two badly wounded. It could cost them a day or two for them to regain their health. Loriel felt bad for what had happened but could not regret going in because she had been able to rescue the boy.

Kas in the meantime had mounted her horse and use him to pull the bridge back into place.

Once on the other side, Artanis whispered to Kas, ”Have you anything I can wrap around myself? I uh….I’m cold.”

“Whoring tease of a wench!”

Artanis looked at the small group in surprise. “What the hell?!” and she reached for her sword bit it was not there

In a flash Kas was gone, and she cursed not for the last time that day, at her incredible stupidity and also at her weakened state.

To Xaris and Loriel she says, “Go quickly! I will stay with the boy!”

Loriel nodded even as she whirled and dashed off with Xaris. “Moonshadow, come,” she called out. She would thank Artanis later for freeing her to go deal with whatever was going on back at the camp. She sprinted at top speed prepping an arrow as she speedup the tunnel to the mouth of the cave. Not sure of exactly what the problem was but ready to take whatever it was when she got there.

The direction of the start set her path it lay halfway between the road and their true path. The stableman wish them the protection of the Gods, Siliwen thought they would need it this day and in the coming days as well, but she didn’t want to use it all up before they got to where they needed to go. It is unfortunate that the woods they sought were far across the broad grassy plains. Even as they raced at their best possible pace they had not escaped to the shelter of woods when an ominously dark wedge appeared on the horizon. The Shelnak, she supposed. She did not want to stay around and find out but when they met Alacran, a lone figure standing against them all she could not but gasp in concern--so many against just one. She remembers his words that they were more powerful as a group.

Siliwen heart pounds as she urges her Moondancer over the field. The horse of her companions keeping pace. On a good road she may have well outdistanced them but she would not risk her mare over an open field like this. One burrow in the ground could snap and horses leg.

As the wedge move inexorably on Siliwen cannot help but look behind at the confrontation. Raw red power slashes through the darkness around the Shelnak targeted on Alacran. In response vivid streaks of lightning flew from Alacran’s staff. She was torn between continuing on or turning to help but reason told her to continue on racing away. That had been his purpose to keep them from following their group until they got away, so she pushed Moondancer faster.

Her decision was reinforced when Alacran’s words came to them across the intervening distance as if he stood near them. “Do not turn from your path,” Alacran’s voice said, “this foe is beyond your power. Flee and stay on your mission… never fear... I will survive this as this Master is not so formidable… I will send you another ‘companion’ later whose purpose may not be clear but he will aid you I am sure … for I have been preparing him for this mission while waiting for your arrival…. Good luck my friends… keep heart and never doubt your ability.”

They crested the rise almost as one and went over. Not so distant now they could see the dark line of trees at the edge of the forest. A haven she hoped. They rode on to gain that small measure of shelter.

Of necessity they slowed their mad pace to something that would allow them to negotiate through the forest. Siliwen continued to check the direction the star point and always brought them back on course.

But even that had to be dropped again and their mounts tired. Even her elven mare labored. She dismounted and walked along side the mare for a time giving her a break and Siliwen as well she is not used to riding as such a speed and for so long. Oh, she had gone on long rides. but those mostly at a walk with short periods of canters--certainly never anything like this mad rush. As she dismounted her legs almost collapsed under her. But after a few minutes she was able to hang onto the saddle until start walking almost normally. After that she alternately walked and rode at the walk to give her mare a break.

When the small clearing was reached it was almost without a word between them that they stopped to make camp. Siliwen commanded the star to sleep. And took a huge breath and let it out slowly. As tired as she was her rest did not come first. Siliwen stripped Moondancer of her tack and went to look for water for her. After watering her she gives her a rub down. It was not long before her tired body complained to her so the brushing may not have been a long or as thorough as it could have been but it was the best she could do right now. Her arms dropped wearily after she carried her saddlebags to where the others had gathered. She let the mare wander knowing that she would not stray far—such was the bond between them

Amiri Moondancer sat quietly in the corner of the inn near the bar. Her dinner completed she sat with a goblet of wine near her right hand that sh e sipped occasionally as she played her favorite game with herself. She would study the room and then predict for herself what the various occupants would be doing in anywhere from 5-60 seconds. She then would close her eyes and wait the allotted time. And open them and check her predictions. So three times she shut and open her eyes and recheck her predictions. That was how she noticed that first one then two then three patrons had gathered around the bartender and were listening to him. By turning her head a bit she could easily overhear what was been discussed.

She heard the bartender mention a problem that the sity was having and how a call had been put out for adventures to look into it.

Now Amiri did not think of herself as an adventurer but mysteries were something that caught her interest. She finished her glass and wine and rose to ostensibly get a refill. Moving up to the bar she could lisen better to what ws said.

“May I have another glass of this fine wine, please?” Amiri asks in the common tongue but with the musicality of her race’s tongue. Turning to the assembled group she states, “I could not help but overhear that there is a mystery here that needs solving. I would like to help solve that mystery if I could. Where does one who is interested in helping have to go to make it known tht they are interested?”

Moving over to the bar she leans over and whispers "Bartender two glasses of you best brandy or whatever you have that is hard and Make sure that there more if needed."

When the bartender returns it is with two stout full glasses of som thing like clear dark amber. "This is the stuff, but I warning you it is potent.

"I have some dwarven distillation that is pricy but one of the best I have had around her for a bit. Brianna waits until the bartender returns with two glasses of a dark amber hue but very clear other than the color.

Striding back through the tables her long legs carries swiftly through the maze of tables and patrons, back over to where Highnar sits nursing his ale she draws out and chair and sit. She holds out one of the stout glasses filled with the heady liquor.

"Best to do drinking with friends, Highnar, my good friend. So I have come to join you. The bartender says this is some of the best dwarven hard liquor he has had in a while. I think we need to check that out. What do you say, want to give it a try?"

And to give action to her words she takes a sip of the clear dark amber liquor (like Scotch Whiskey, well aged about 25+ years and mellow but very potent.)

Brianna was actually a more that ready to join Highnar in drinking bout It had be awhile since she had gotten drunk. Not since the Forbidden Isles. And right now she could use a night without the bad dreams. Amaterrana would know she did and forgive her. The Wanton would not care and the Warrioress would understand. And so she drank with Highnar matching him glass for glass and adding a couple more to catch up on what he had already consumed

The fleeing orc catapulted Loriel into action. It could not be allowed to warm others of their presences. That could well jeopardize Artanis’s rescue. She fled down the corridor after it through the first door, cross the small empty room through a far door. Ahead she saw the creature throw open a door and disappear again. Her ability to run in the forest ducking and dodging trees helped her as she raced to catch up.

Swiftly she notches another arrow and turns into this last room. She hear a scream from inside but it wasn’t an Orc’s voice it was much higher a females or a child’s. It spurs her to turn into the door hastily. She has to duck frantically as she heard a twang of a bow an arrow whistling, a hair's breathe by her head. She locates the Orc aims and releases her first arrow straight at him she then notches and fires the second in a couple of heart beats. A could of heartbeats because her heart was pounding form her swift pursuit and the adrenaline rush of being shot at. Both arrows struck the orc and he went down with a thud but not any other sound. Another scream echoes in the room. Looking around she spots a young boy whose fear transforms into rage and he kicks and claws at the Orc’s body, before charging into Loriel and clinging to her chest, arms wrapped tight around her waist crying into her bosom. “They killed mom!” He whined, the boy no older than 8 or 9 winters old. “They. *Sob *sob* They killed my mom”

Loriel holds the boy close just holding him tight. Not unlike the succor she had givens young animals whose parents had been killed or badly wounded. It wasn't that far of a stretch of who she was and what she did to comfort the young human boy whose loss because of his intelligence ws so much more. But the situation demanded that notmuch time could be taken here and now for conforting. so she holds him back a bit to speak to him.

"You will come with me and I will do my best to get you out of here safely. Looking at the pool of blood around the woman’s body tells its own story. The blood was dark and not at all shiny She had been dead awhile and the blood congealed on the cold stone floor. “Gather anything you need to, we must leave here quickly.” Loriel lets the boy collect anything if he wants to--or not. She does take time to check the woman’s body but, as she thought, her flesh was cold, signs that she had been dead for some time. Loriel checks the woman’s body out for anything on it and gives it to the boy.

Loriel loots the Orc’s body quickly to see if he is carrying anything and taking anything of value. She pulls out her arrows as well. “Now we must go. One of my companions is wounded down the hall and I must go to her. You stay close to me and if there is a fight get behind or duck behind cover.

Loriel hurries back to the room where she had left Artanis. Moonshadow was still on guard but Xaris had gotten to Artanis and wonders of wonders Artanis is sitting up with Xaris’s help.

To the boy she says, “These are my friends.” Turning to Xaris, “Xaris, there was another Orc I just killed him but we need to get out of here. Let me help you get Artanis up and moving.” Moonshadow to me.”

With Artanis between them they move onto the ladder bridge where Kas still waited vigilantly.
