Subject: Cleric

Just come up with a good concept for a cleric. It does mean bending the rules a little (chaotic neutral cleric without a deity) but it will be worth ignoring this poxy annoying little rule.

I know what you're thinking. "Wouldn't a neutral cleric be a Druid?"
Well no. Not in this case. I plan for this poor soul to either be saved or damned by the campaign he's put in. A real chance for a DM to break a cleric or, if they chose, to save the poor begger (on the condition that he doesn't lose his cleric abilities with the eventual and inevitable allaignment change - a second rule I dont like, people evolve so characters should be able to).

Yes, I am watching A Game of Thrones and enjoying it very much. I was, however, unaware that it was based on a book series (I normally fast forward through the opening credits so if it's there then that explains it).

Am I the only one who thinks that it would be a good world for a game to be set it?

Might I implore some DM to start a bog standard 3.5 D&D game?

Just running though a dungeon crawl or a pre-written adventure would be good.

Subject: an apology

I want to make an apology for some of the criticism I have given. I understand from talking with Skye that it was not necessarily what I said but the way I said it.

Skye: I have no problem with criticism, I do not feel anyone else does either, however it should be more diplomatic. In your case it came across as well...a bit spiteful and carrying tones of superiority.

I am sorry for how I came across as I commented on any of the post I have commented on. I only recall a few instances, and most criticism was given in a joking manner however it can be hard to convey that with just text on chat.

I don't want anyone to think that I am reviewing peoples posts because I am not, I am following the game as I am interested and hope to join it. The criticism I did give, however, should have been more better worded. I would like to apologize specifically to Tek as I grasped the meaning of his message, it merely conflicted with my own personal philosophy and I absolutely did not mean it as a criticism of his post or character.

I will also only join Nomachron if you'll have me.

If I don't say it here then I'll just forget about it and not do it.

I'm going to enter this contest with an epic legend, a story told far and wide to all peoples, of a history too important to forget.

Thanks to flirt for pointing it out to me.

I am suffering from D&D withdrawal. I've not had a good D&D game in almost a year, someone please take pity on me.

I do have some requirements though... I prefer 3.5e and games set in outside/wilderness locations (IE no dungeons, ruined castles, dwarven mines etc.)

My last exam ended today and the first thing I've done is told you about it... actually the first thing I did was buy a bottle of coke to have with my the last of my rum and a pair of rolo desserts. But the second thing I've done it told you I'm done.

YAY ME!!!

EDIT: Just a note. I am looking for a 3.5 game to join.

I realise that it is too late to join the game now but I was wondering if I could be put on a kind of reserve list.
I plan on playing a Raptoran (from Races of the Wild, kinda a winged human) Scout (from Complete Adventurer, kinda a cross between a ranger and a rouge)

I have PMed you (Kaelyn) with some character details and now have the character ready even if I don't quite have his biography written. I am writing my characters responce to the parchment now.

I'll admit that over the last few days I have had the time to post, unfortunatly I have not had the mental capasity to do anything but watch TV, revise and sit exams. I am now on the home stright though and will be done on Monday when normal service should resume.

Chessicfayth, I hope your leaving has nothing to do with me not being able to post for so long.

Topic: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain - Fizzled
Subject: Be on your guard

Your group organised a watch, although with the quiet and dark of the night it seems it was hardly needed. No goblins came down the hills after you and with the exception of a few wolves somewhere in the distance the night was fortunately still, unfortunately it was also cold so the campfire was kept going all night to keep whoever was on watch warm... and to keep whoever company should he feel lonely with the others asleep.

As you slept, all of you, you were hounded again and again by the same dream as you had drempt when you slept in the inn the night before, except now all reality seemed to get washed away leaving you drowning in darkness. Eventually, after waking a few times, you got used to this unpleasant dream and it lost its potency. For the one of you on the hunt you had more success then the night before, the wolves you had all heard proved good prey.

In the morn the sun was up early and shone brightly, a good day to travel. Camp was packed up and you began your hike to the supposed entrance of the mountain... soon enough the hearsay proved true that this was goblin land, a single spear was embedded next to the route you had chosen and on the end was lashed a wolf's skull. On your guard you easy came to the entrance to the mountain, it was a tall and jagged gash in the mountain, dark as a moonless night and filled with an unearthly raw. The raw, logic told you, was the rumble of water as it tumbled over jagged rocks next to the entrance to the cave.

It was midday as you observed the path into the cave, a river slowly flowing to the side of the path from the heart of the mountain. The river must feed the lake, and the goblins must have some guard nearby if they do guard the entrance, but there was no goblin in sight.

Topic: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain - Fizzled
Subject: Val goes bump in the night.

With the last meal of the day eaten most of the group made for their respective rooms. It being a small inn in a small town they aren't quite what anyone is used to but the lock and door seem good enough and there is a bowl of water in the corner for washing. Drifting off for sleep your dreams are hectic and filled with shadows, not a very comfortable night at all. Darren, however, had the least comfortable sleep, not due to the substandard bedding but a premonition, one of teeth, no, fangs, and claws, an ungodly presence in the mountain.

Val however did not go to sleep immediately, he slipped out to fill his hunger. The guard is poor so there is next to no chance of him being spotted, despite that prey isn't easy to come by as the dogs are hunting animals and the rats are slippery. His thirst hardly quenched by the time he needs to settle down, supper is a couple of the rats that have avoided the dogs.
Val's dream were much alike those of the others but featured an eerily familiar presence, as if a kin of his called from the mountain.

All awoke to a misty morning, it had rolled in from the lake and had cast an oppressing cold and stillness over the town. The earliest to wake except the innkeeper, breakfast was a thick oatmeal with a nut bread, hardly the best meal to set off on yet set off you did. After a few hours walk the mist lifted and you were able to see both the mountain before you and the town, much closer, behind you. You push on and much sooner then you would have though possible the sky starts to darken and its near time to set up camp, one more days walk and you would be at the supposid entrance to the mountain.

((OOC: Yer, I'm not great at descriptions but your moving. One day into the walk to the mountain and your starting to reach the foothills, but your not in them quite yet. Maybe a few hours ahead of you if goblin country.))

The entrance to the mountain labyrinth is two days walk from town, it's guarded by goblins who live in the foothills.

The lord of the mountain is a power old wizard.

Enslaved to protect whoever lives in the mountain is a dragon of some sorts.

The lord of the mountain appears as a young man, is actually age is unknown.

Once the warlock is dead the mountain will fall, it being held in place by only his magics.

A city of dwarfs once traded with the town, the warlock put a stop to this by killing the dwarf clan leader.

Whoever steps into the mountain is cursed to die.

Among the foul beast to inhabit the mountain is something the locals describe as 'a night terror' the preys on those that sleep within the mountain.

Your small group sits around a table in The Unicorn Run for the last time, last time before you set off to take the riches of The Mountain for your own. Gilford is only two days trek away from the supposed entrance to the mountain, an alleged cave in its size that's guarded by lesser fell creatures, and the going will be tough as it's barren, trackless ground all the way according to the few that have ventured that way. The trek isn't a worry though, neither are the goblins that are supposed to guard the entrance, it's what could be what is inside The Mountain that worries you. No one can tell you the same, one person will talk of a ghoulish presence that stalks the tunnels, another of savage beasts, one more of a trickster bent on turning men mad, indeed it seems for every man or woman you talk to there is a different story of what hides within the passages of The Mountain. Among the stories there is one constant, The Warlock. An old man of great magic who has enslaved the very rock to his will and who has amassed a considerable collect of treasures even if you don't count the abandoned belongings of those who have attempted to take the treasures for themselves.

(I've attempted to set the scene, it's early evening in game now and you've got some time before it gets dark. You have rooms booked in the tavern and a simple dinner on it's way. Just talk between yourselves and interact with the environment, don't worry about shopping for additional supplies, just PM me with details and we'll assume that you got it earlier this day. Nothing not listed in the players handbook, everything costs twice the listed price.)

Subject: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain

Only a foolhardy adventurer would embark on such a perilous quest, without first finding out as much as possible about Firetop Mountain. That is why you have travelled to the village of Gilford. A sleepy village with a small population, Gilford is situated just two days travel from Firetop Mountain. When you arrive, you make your way to the local tavern, the Unicorn Run.

The Unicorn Run is a well-kept establishment, providing good meals and fine ales. It is owned and run by Otto Stormcloud, a retired human adventurer who bought the tavern many years ago.

Most of the locals here are of a friendly nature and when they hear of your plan to raid Firetop Mountain for it's riches they offer you a pint of cheap ale and a chat, or just a chat depending on what they are doing at that time. Many rumours circulate about the Mountain. There seems to be some truth in the story of the Warlocks treasure being kept in a magnificent, ornate chest with two locks; the keys to these being guarded by the creatures lurking within the dungeon. The Warlock himself is a sorcerer of great power. Some describe him as young and some as a frail old man. Some say his powers come from an enchanted deck of cards, others from a silky black glove he wears. The entrance to the Mountain labyrinth is said to be guarded by goblins but the inner chambers by more fearsome creatures.

It seems that many adventurers have used Gilford as starting point for their trek to Firetop Mountain. Not many have returned and those that have only warn to stay away from the place. Rumours circulate the village about your plan to take the Warlock's wealth for yourself but in turn rumours have kept you in the village, waiting for the courage to ascend to the Mountain... perhaps if there were more of you then you'd stand a better chance then the ones who didn't make it back.
