Topic: Season of the Witch Q/A
Subject: Hi

If you read this tonight (23/03/92) then please DM me with what you need off me.

Due to a very tight schedule I am not sure if I will be able to post until mid April. I might have a free half hour on Saturday but I will need to know what you need before then as it will only he half an hour.

You make the check by a large margin and your game is revitalised with your posting prowess.

I attempt a Use Force check using the Jedi Mind Trick thing to convince grugg that he's a halfling cleric.

(SW Saga, good game. We all wish we could use the force)

Success, I think.

I CAN'T BELIVE YOU SAID THAT ABOUT MERI!!!

I roll a spot check, as a GM, for everyone on the RDInn to see if they see this game.

Say what? That I'm into tall dark foreign men? The truth doesn't bother me

Topic: Season of the Witch Q/A
Subject: appologies as well

Apologies from me, I have this coming weekend to post and then the week after. Period.

I will then not be able to post until past the 14th of April, I know I've not been terribly great at staying away when I say I'm not going to be here but I will have no choice about it as I will be somewhere without electrical power of any sort.

I should also express my worry about the game, you are all good RPers and all want to include everyone in the game. Over my absence please proceed with the game, I can't delay it and hopefully the game will have picked up some more momentum by the time I return. Tek, you will need to NPC my character as I want to return to the game after my absence.

I am to post on the Friday at the latest, I will respond to any posts already up and I will post here the general actions my character would take. For any specific responses to purely hypothetical situations I will need to be PDed before Friday.

Topic: Seeking Avatar Free Form
Subject: Seeking Avatar Free Form

My fellow innmates.

I think the time is well overdue for this proposal, I propose an Avatar Free Form game. Set on Pandora, of cause, I think it would be fun to set the game at around about when the Avatar program started on Pandora so a good number of years before the film is actually set.

It's obviously the GMs choice what he or she permits but I would like the chance to play as a scientist in an Avatar rather then a soldier or one of the Na'vi. I am no GM, numerous attempts have proved this, but I am an enthusiastic player and if a game does start I will positively pour my heart and soul into it and my character because of fast approaching (v. v. good) events in my life.

If you have seen the film and are interested in playing or want to give a stab at running the game then please please post and show your interest.

EDIT: I have the survival guide as well so I would consider myself well informed about the setting which I think I can happy classified as Alternate Earth despite the fact it's set over 100 years into the future on a different planet.

Topic: Season of the Witch
Subject: Erm, hope this reads as well in the morning as it does at the moment.

He'd put his axe away as Thea prayed over Rose's dying body.

"Knit bone,
darn flesh,
stick skin,
weave breath."

There were power in the words that he hadn't seen before and indeed Thea's hands glowed. She repeated the pray again as it become a chant and this time Rose seemed to find her strength again. Thea moved to him next, he wasn't quite sure what he should do but kneeling or at least crouching seemed sensible so that the girl could reach the wound, he felt slightly bemused by the situation as this was something he never though he would do.

The warm energy crossed from Thea's hands and into his flesh, he felt a tingling around the edges of the slash as it closed; he knew it was closing as the cold flow of his fresh and seeping blood had stopped. Once she had removed her hands and moved away he stood up and cleaned the would, dribbled a little water onto the rough cloth his fletching supplies had come in. He took the cloth and drew it over the scar on his shoulder, higher up his body and it would have been his neck!

Kammie had fled at some point during the fight.

“There isn’t much here, I’ll hold onto the coin. Stonelighter, you take some of it, too. That way ye all can’t blame me when ye can’t hold onto yer own pursestrings. The rest, well, my life is better trusted to a dead stick.”

Tipical, he had heard stories of how almost all other races worshiped gold as it a god in itself. None of the stories ever described dwarfs as being anything less than fanatic about anything shiny.

(In Alcanese) "Your welcome to the gold. How should we dispose of the bodies?"

He had never battled in woods before, only on the open plains. They would always lay out the bodies so that they could be pecked clean as carrion but he wasn't sure of what would happen in woodlands. He supposed wolves would do the same thing. He agreed with the dwarf though, he would rather trust his life to a single arrow then to one of the gnolls weapons.

They piled up the corpses beyond the edge of the clearing. He wasn't too sure he approved of the magic that had been used to heal his wounds; he should have been left to heal naturally so that if it was his to die then he would do so. Over the meal that followed Eofara turned the conversation to tracking the creatures that had attacked them. His argument can be shortened to the abbreviation below.

(In Alcanese) "Ends must be made, hang the quest as we are away from the city. If we don't look after ourselves and hunt down the rest of the gnolls they will send scouts to hunt us. I can track and we can shoot and fight but if we don't attack or flee then they will kill us."

That night he took third watch, sleeping through the first two watches under the thin canvas of his tent gave him the four hours of sleep he needed. Over his own watch he tended the fire, kept quite and didn't wake the next person to take watch, or the person after. He was happy of company if anyone did wake but the open night sky was a welcoming presence, although he needed company to feel at home.
As dawn broke he took up his bow and 10 arrows, removed the armour (assuming leather of hide) from one of the fallen gnolls and pinned it to a tree with his knife to form a target to shoot at. This done he packed up his tent and began his practice, taking time to aim each shot carefully so he wouldn’t miss the armour. Once the dwarf had awoken he saw the creature looking into a bag of food he had, his expression was obvious.

(Untranslated Mith’Ganni) "Skxawng"

Eofara lazily fishes for a pack of rations within his supplies and tossed it to Agrin.

Information.

Now we have it I think I'd like to be the first to say 'Halfling Sorcerer'

You better explain the spell point system otherwise it could delay me finishing my character.

EDIT: Have to ask, are there any alignment restrictions according to class? Can a sorcerer be Neutral Good for instance? (not that I pay much attention to alignments normally but in this game I will pay my alignment )

EDIT 2: I will play my alignment properly as well, chaotic doesn't mean he will do anything, it means he will not conform to the laws of society and whirl he will not do anything outside of his good allignment he will go out of his way to mock or even break laws or the social norm.

Subject: I agree

Steelight is asking the right sort of questions, if you give us some idea of the world we'll be playing in (as well as circumstances our diverse range of races and classes will meet under) and information on character generation.

I have a few fun (fun for me ) ideas in my head but it depends on character creation. Most of my ideas involve starting with our characters at level 3.

EDIT: Define 'legal' in terms of character creation, and why can't we just submit character sheets using Bromern Sal's v3.5 Excel Character Sheet?

Just trust us to keep to your character creation guidelines and then deal with having multiple character sheets you need to look at, we all have to do it.

Subject: I do have a confession myself

I do have a confession myself, I will not be able to post from the 19th, this month, to the 14th of April. And even after then I be able to post/may not feel like posting until after the 18th.

This is because I am going hiking in the rainforests of Belize and snorkeling on the Belize Barrier Reef so will be without power for that time. Once I get back I have lots of work to do which has the possibility of being very draining so even if I do have any free time it is likely I'll just be watching trash TV.

I've posted, chose to only respond to Merideth's post as it doesn't make sense if I try to respond to both and Medi's, to be honest, has more to respond to.

I'd like the chance to get some RP done specifically with one of you two dwarfs, without too many insults preferable but I do recognise that it's just what one of them (won't name any names) does.

Topic: Season of the Witch
Subject: Injured, badly

The gnolls had been finished, the ambush not as half as damaging as it could have been. Experience told him he had two priorities, first he must check every opponent was down, second he mus tend to his own wounds. A quick glance around the clearing showed no obvious threats but he couldn't see to his own wound as it's location on his shoulder stopped him tying a bandage around of above it to cut of his blood. Neither could he hold the injury above his head as by definition a shoulder attaches your arm to the rest of you so has to be below your head, at least it wasn't lower then his heart.

His culture demanded a further thing from him, he must see to the creatures that had attacked them. He thrust his sword into the ground, so it quivered slightly standing alone, with his good arm and drew his axe with the same hand. The closed fist of his injured arm held in front of his opposite shoulder more to stop the pain then anything else. He walked from gnoll to gnoll turning them on their backs as needed, cutting the creatures throats with the razor sharp blade of his axe to stop their suffering if they still lived or to help them pass on if they had already died. He realised it must have been a funny site to the dwarfs who must have never seen anything like it or would probably never understand it, the humans had probably never seen it either but stood more of a chance of understanding. When he came to the one with bolts stuck in it he would have removed them it he'd had two good arms, in fact he did try but grimaced with paid as he attempted to grip the bolt, injuries were always worst after the battle.

In all the two dwarfs had fared much better then he had having not suffered a major injury, Igni was untouched due to the choice of using a shooting weapon whatever that thing was. Anora was in a bad way having taking so much damage and Thea was up again and looking at Joseph who had entered at some point at the end of the fight, not exhausted from running but he had been from the manner he had appeared.

“No! no no no…” Thea repeats dismally as she lays her hand upon the broken breast plate, watching the blood poor through her fingers as she does. “No! Please… don’t let her die!”

Thea was gazing up at the sky as he watched her interested.

“My benevolent Mistress… do not let this woman suffer any longer from the pains of this battle. She offered her life in return for mine, please hear my cries for her now. Find it in your heart to bring mercy upon her, see her safely back to us. I beg of thee, I am but a humble servant of you Lady Mirros and promise to remain so for my life… please… grant me the gift of healing for my sister here…”

He wasn't sure what this was but it seemed to have some effect on Rose, some devine magic he hadn't seen before maybe? She had been bleeding badly but the spell had stopped the flow already. He focused on his heart and breathing, slowing it's beat and his breathing to a normal pace, to calm him and slow blood loss. The pain was terrible now he'd fully realised it and he needed the wound tended to as soon as someone could, he couldn't tend it due to it's location. 'Why couldn't the gnoll have cut his arm, it would be easier to treat.' he thought.

(OOC: May not be the best post, a lot of it focuses on my characters actions rather then those of the other characters.)

I think you are forgetting something. There is a druid in the group so we just need to stabilize you if you start bleeding to death.

And better you then me, because of my character's own beliefs mean he would rather die of his injuries then be healed by magic.

Topic: Season of the Witch
Subject: 1st post after the update

Éofara had grabbed his sword up off the clearing floor and rose to his feet, the beast that had attacked him was charging at him with its rusted weapon raised. He stood his ground as the creature charged and prepared himself, he artfully ducked the creatures wild swing and slashed its thigh quite deliberately as he did so. As he spun up from dodging this attack he shifted the sword slightly in his hand to give a more upward cut and clove the creature’s throat.

The gnoll collapsed blood spilling from its throat as such a rate. Its death was swift, more so then the creature probably deserved, and respectful. Éofara wouldn't drive his blade through it's chest as he knew it dead, he'd move the body after the battle and return it to the earth and sky.

As so often with combat you've not fully aware of everything and so much of everything else was a blur so he failed to pin down the actions of most of the group. What he had noticed however Rose had charged to a screaming shape on the floor, he'd phased out all the noise, too much to think about and you must trust your allies to survive. The screaming shape was Thea and a gnoll was bearing down on them, she had over exerted herself and now her weapon useless to her the gnoll they were both in mortal danger.

Tact was useless here, he would need to run the creature through before it run them through. He charged the beast to run it through or cut flesh to save the pair, gnolls were crafty but often stupid, instinct told him the creature would sooner finish Rose then defend himself but instinct could always be wrong.

(OOC: Little shorter then I like for a post but I'll just keep telling myself this is combat so I've only got 6 seconds to write about.)

Subject: My own meathods.

(OOC: I must say sorry, I’m going to sum up the last few posts as best and quickly as I can. My fault for not posting before.)

The other’s, the humans at least, once they had arrived at the clearing began explaining why they where there. Anora explained and Joseph, and himself, listened to this very proper explanation and he found himself wondering why Joseph should care. If Joseph was able to shelter them for the night then he would and if he couldn’t then he shouldn’t regardless of what had happened to them previously. The campsite was comfortable enough however, a clearing in the woods full of soft earth and moss and full of the natural odours of the wood.
Eofara was not spared a lecture about the mention of the laws he had briefly mentioned on the hill. He wasn’t spaired the look by the man they had just met, he had been misunderstood by Anora but he didn’t care, from what the man had said they shared a similar view as he had said much the same thing as the three laws taught.

(In Alcanese) ”You say there are no laws but you have repeated what they sum to yourself. We’re not that different except that I chose to live with people and you chose to live detached from people but if you see beauty in nature then you are blind. It only gives the illusion of beauty unless you have a similar definition of beauty to a murderer. The fever is not natural, it is arcane. The elders of my clan consulted with our gods and decided that we should not fall to something so abhorrent.”

All this was accompanied with the sharp hand gestures that illustrated his disapproval of arcane and how this man lived. They decided to scavenge their food from the forest and although Eofara was not exactly acquainted with the forest he had been in one before so was able to help, it wasn’t a land he was very used to living in and he longed for the open plains or at very least the fields that they had passed on the march to this camp.

Not too long after they were under attack from the inhabitants of the woods, gnolls. Hardly a surprise that he hadn’t noticed them though, he had rarely been on watch for his clan and what good was superior vision when they were surrounded by trees. The fact was it had been Thea that had alerted them and not Anora who had been charge with guarding the group. In the old days, generations ago when the Mith’ganni were plentiful, she would have been exiled for such a failure had any children been injured. An axe cut deep into his shoulder though as he was rising to fight his foe, the blow sent him spinning to the ground and forced his hand to drop his longsword. He grabbed up the weapon from the ground and rose to face his foe, it was bad, he was badly injured and Kammie (I am assuming you have told us your name) worse so. There were 7 gnolls, not an easy number to fight. He attacked the closes gnoll holding this sword in both hands hoping the blow would cleave its head from its body.

Eofara was used to fighting gnolls, he knew where to strike them and how to trick and track them better then anything else under the stars and moon or sun and sky. He'd ignored Rose's words not because he was more experienced then her, but because shouting about how your going to fight is never a good way to fight. Neither is keeping the same method of fighting, your enemies know what to expect. He'd only been caught in one gnoll ambush before, at the age of just 83, and they had slaughtered the beasts then followed the tracks to the camp.
