I think it would be fun to start a game with players designed to work well together.

Whatever other people want to do is fine.

Still looking for the books, but if we are all going to have come from the same mercenary band then we'll need to work together to build characters that will complement each other.

I'll be on chat come the morning (GMT) and some of tonight, if anyone else in this game comes on then we could start brainstorming a well oiled killing machine.

I'd be interested, depends on when the game starts though.

I can work on a character a bit for the wile but can't really play until after my exams, so until Monday week.

(Oh, and I did once have them but now they are gone, I need new ecoppies of the Eberron books.)

Subject: ...

Talking swords are almost annoying as elves, I'd just have a big club smash things with that.

If yous wants the sword though just stick some wax in your ears so you can't hears it.

(Or get an elf to cast Zone of Silence and Permanency or whatever the spell is called on the sword)

Ogre
---------------

Dear Ogre

I have this druid friend who recently reincarnated a dwarf paladin as a centaur as a punishment for disrupting the balance of nature.

I keep wishing I could die so that I could be reincarnated as a centaur now. What should I so?

Sincerely,

Horse_Mad_Peasant

you thought 3 was a magic number, try 406

My photos are uploaded and you can view them here:
http://s825.photobucket.com/albums/zz172/Loki_RDInn/Belize/

This is the full unedited collection, I will see if I can get hold of some pictures taken by other people on the trip if I dream them suitable to be shown to you guys and if I get the permission of the person who took the picture.

WARNING: A few of the photos contain scenes of a sexual nature, but it's only a pair of butterflies.

EDIT: They are not in any logical order, just the strange order the uploader decided to put them in, but I'll be damned if I'm going to sort them chronologically.
Did you know that the Blue Morpho butterfly can have sex for up to 4 hours!

Topic: One Barrel Rum
Subject: One Barrel Rum

OK, so I've got back from Belize and not actually shared any of my experience with you so far. Sorry, been very busy.

I will say this here though.

One Barrel Rum is the best rum in the world, Urban Dictionary pretty much sums up my thoughts. It beats Havana Club hands down as well (those of you who have been able to try some) which is actually sacrilege in my dads house.

It's a Belizain rum, yes it's exported to the US and I would strongly suggest that if you enjoy spirits that you order a bottle. If you are willing to I would also like to be able to get my hands on some for myself, my biggest regret in my life so far (all 18 years) is only bringing back 750ml of the stuff.

One of the alien clans enslaving another doesn't sound like something that could happen on a planet where everything is connected by some spiritual entity that is actually the consciousness of the planet's flora and fauna and actuly resides in the sentient native species.

But hay, I'm am Avatar geek.

I love the sound of your game and if you ever get anything together and there are more players interested I'd be game.

I like the design, complex designs are nice but simple ones are sometimes the best.

I am a big fan of the saying 'Keep it simple stupid.'

Loke it that LD is getting started again. A few comments on the art:

Like your Dalana
Tim is good
Love Aranion's armour (particularly the eyes)

Could you give Steve a bit more of an evil or satisfied smile? He strikes me as the type of person who likes it when his plans go his way and enjoys tormenting player/characters.

Subject: I could argue philosophy.

How can you have a god of love and mercy without accepting one of pain and suffering. With light come shadows so you must accept both. Philosophy aside his words had had the desired effect. The girl seemed terrified of spiders anyway so having the conversation infront of a giant one that made himself feel jumpy. Fear can be a powerful aid but this might have backfired slightly as he'd made out that the woods were not safe because of the gnolls.

He took a step towards Thea.

(In Alcanese) "All of us were needed to fend of the gnolls, there is no chance that just two of us would be able to defend ourselves. You chose to help that man back at the city, I'd say the group staying together and going into the tunnel is a lot safer then anything else."

If nothing else this whole episode would open her eyes and help her grow up, it would prove a very valuable lesson to the girl.

Topic: Season of the Witch
Subject: Talking with the child

Eofara turned to look at the praying girl, maybe he was wrong to have scared her. It was not intentional but if your scared your less likely to take stupid risks.

(In Alcanese) "I'm not sure we are being followed, but I am sure that if we are then it won't be by someone who wishes us well."

His mind slipped back to the square with the execution, what he was going to say might not be the right thing to say but he would say it anyway.

(In Alcanese) "We don't have any allies, the tribe that those dead gnolls belong to will want revenge and your church has put a price on our capture. If a crowd bays for blood at an execution I am sure there is someone willing to take coin to capture those being executed.

Eofara did not get a very good first impression of human society, it had left bitter tast in his mouth. The girl had no place here but he'd make sure that she wasn't hurt, maybe frightning her out of this insane ask was the best thing to do.

(In Alcanese) "Who has the gem, we all decided we would come here and do what was needed back at the city, I think as this is a dwarf city then it should be a dwarf that first unlocks it secrets."

Topic: Season of the Witch
Subject: A second player post

It seemed that over breakfast it had been decided that they should carry on with their appointed task. They had every right to disregard it and the person had no right to force it upon them but the task was being done out of some sense of nobility, honour or other misplaced sense of duty.

Having packed up his own gear earlier he helped the others with theirs if they were willing to let him help. The battle had reminded him of his home but the meal was alien to him, very little talking, so he found himself more the outsider. He was an elf among men kind, he didn't have a companion to trust in as the two dwarfs did. He gently eased his arrows from the armour he had attached to the tree and tugged his knife from the tree's trunk. The armour fell to the ground with a soft thud. He replaced the arrows in his quiver, looking around the campsite the though edged into his mind that he was out of his element. He could track the gnolls but they knew the land and he did not. Reluctantly, he hurried to catch up with the others.

Four hours of following Joseph later and they arrived at a ruined citadel, conquered, reclaimed by the forest. The groups footfalls echoed across shattered broad stoned as birdsong surrounded the ruin.

Aside from the birds in the trees, there was no sign of wildlife or anything within the area. In the middle of the day, this was not unusual, but there seemed to lack any sort of bedding made within the sheltered area. Overall, it seemed quite a tranquil domain…were it not for the large spider emblem crafted directly onto the heavy stone doors at the end of the walkway.

Inverted, legs spread, the eight foot tall door boasted an arachnid that covered the entirety of the barrier, the one thing to break the peaceful feeling within the clearing. The citadel itself was about twenty feet high, and being quite compact in its dimensions, but likely extending quite far beneath the earth. The spider bore no explanation…

Its eight eyes appeared to have at one point housed stones or gems, but robbers had cleared them away long ago, leaving the empty sockets. A close inspection, however, revealed that one of them was slightly different in its shape, and had a small hexagonal indentation at the back. Obviously, this one was not for holding a gem.

The travel so far had been in almost silence but Thea interrupted it.

"Lady Mirros be merciful... Tell me we don’t have to go in there. I don’t know if I can... I don’t know that we should..."

(In Alcanese) "None of us need to go in. But if we are then lets go now and seal ourselves in so we can not be followed."

No words of comfort or kindness for the girl now, he had chosen to come as he could see her innocence. And in honesty he was not a fan of such a big spider himself. He had only seen 'small' onces prevously. Cirtanly nothing bigger then the span of his hand.

(OOC: OK, I got lazy and coppied a lot of text)

Time got away from me this weekend, still haven't got the hang of that again.

Scratches head.

I will get a post up asap, I have a free tomorow so I'll write up my post if I don't spend it all going through Belize photos and moaning about being stuck in college instead of some fantastic jungle.

Bad karma, I get it, back 3 days and haven't posted in the game yet.

If I'm honest I expected the game to progress a bit in my absence, I was looking forward to reading lots of good posts, but never mind. Maybe I should smite everyone in the game for so little progress in two weeks.

For your information I am carefully considering how to write my post, I want it to be a long one and a good one. One that will cover the journey to the cave and hopefully involves some of the characters - to give people something to respond to without going out of character as I have been so far.

I haven't looked at the pictures yet but I hope that you can give me permission to post up some links to pictures of my own.

I am going to Belize very shortly on a joint Biology and Environmental Science trip, the trip will involve night hikes as well as snorkeling on the Belize Barrier Reef, some twitching, visiting the Mayan ruins and general walks around the rain forest. I'd be very happy to share my pictures with you guys and I'm sure that some of you would be interested in seeing them.
