Kaelyn, error in your post. Eofara did not recite the three iron laws, he didn't say them out loud.

I will get to posting soon

Well my character would cirtanly prefer to hunt and cook rather then eat filth, sorry, I mean rations.

It could be a good oppertunity for some short RP between just our character and if we both hunt/gather food then we can either half the time or double the ammout we gather, but making sure we don't gather more then we need.

Subject: In to the woods

He was glad that he was supported by Thea, and the support seamed enough to convince the man that he was telling the truth. Although he would not have revealed that they were hunting something as that rises more questions then it answers. Rose on the other hand had been stern, it was certain that she was vying for power and control of the group. Why didn’t she go back to the city where she belonged, oh yes, there was a price on their heads. Before she was able to say or do anything more he made mention of some ‘3 iron laws’.

(In Alcanese) ”Three iron laws in the wilderness Rose, you’d do very well to know what they are.”

He of cause meant the following:
There is only truth; nothing wild has the capacity to lie and those who live in the wild have no reason to.
There is only brutality; the apparent beauty of the world is a mask disguising an endless losing struggle for survival and the greater good is the only good.
Trust is the only way to survive; you should trust your horse to carry your weight, trust a hunter to hunt and trust that those who live in the wild.

Rose’s words to the man were sickening, laced with unnecessary and overly polite, she was truly a creature that didn’t belong in the wild. She accepted an offer of a place to rest before anything had been offered, the man had no reason to accept them, food was scarce in the wilds and you took only what you needed for yourself. If taking someone in means you don’t have enough winter supplies then you don’t take them in. The man had however decided that Rose was not any danger, probably due to her innocence to the wild world, and invited them to join him in the woods. Éofara would accept this offer, it was not pleasant to should at each other across such a distance. The dwarf was living up to his expectations while Igni, although a dwarf still, had not done anything as of yet.

He turned to face Thea, who had let got of his shirt soon after he had spoken to the man and the wolf.
(In Alcanese) ”Thank you. Will you trust him and follow him into the woods?”

He offers her his hand to indicate that not only she should enter the wood with the man but that he will be following the man himself. Let Rose act leader of the group if she wanted to, and it was obvious she did, it would be him that would light the fires and prepare the food, hunt fresh meat when the dwarfs grew tired of bread and biscuits. And if she didn’t take the role on as a leader should, not a leader of an army or mercenary group, then the amount of game meat he would be able to catch could be limited. Fact was, he knew how to survive when they didn’t, maybe this man from the woods would help Rose but he doubted it.

He walked down the hill towards the man and his wolf, it was a good sign, and wolves do not tend to be trained by city folk.

As the others joined the group waiting to depart he greeted them mostly in a similar fashion, only holding the hands of the females though and greeting the second dwarf to arrive (Agrin, if grugg is still playing) with Oel ngati kamänge instead of the greeting he used with the others. The difference is hardly noticeable however and would require a keen ear or knowledge of the language. The days journey would not be far but it would take long, particularly without a horse to ride, but he was with company which kept his spirit high and joyous despite Thea’s constant questions. Many of them were simple to answer, “Everything needs to eat.”, “My kind are not timeless but we do live many hundreds of lifetimes.”, “I’m over 200 solstices (2 solstices a year).” But other were more complex, like questions about the plague. “My clan hasn’t been affect by the plague, we’re nomads so are usually untroubled by the pestilences of cities but the elders are been concerned. We are a dying race, everything has it’s time but this illness is not of natural craft.” He didn’t answer all her questions though, most of the ones he didn’t answer regarded the plague as he didn’t know much about it, but others were ‘clan secrets’, things that only a Mith’ganni should know. He was resentful to teach her much of his language however, he’d seen the world of man and his race were trusting, a word of friendship is taken as that and even more so in their own tong.

After about four hours of travel they arrived near a large elm where they decided to stay a wile and eat, there was no game in the area (big game isn’t usually the main food source for hunter-gathers anyway) and there wasn’t enough time to hunt anyway so the group eat some of their rations, salted meat, ‘travel bread’ and dried fruit, washed down with liberal amount of water to remove the taste of salt. There was a stream nearby however so everyone refilled their waterskins and Éofara decided that he would hunt in the eve or dawn when the others were sleeping but wouldn’t be able to provide enough for them all.

With the journey more then half over it didn’t take long to arrive at a large woodland, over the top of the hill they were met, for most of them, a strange sight. A lone would was sitting in the middle of the path blocking their way, the tamed beast howled and Rose’s first reaction was to question the wolf’s presence, she was right that wolves were pack animals but having seen similar before Éofara waited patiently to meet whoever the wolf had summoned. Rose stepped forward with her shield raised and he felt half inclined to tell her a wolf pack was no danger here and Thea whispered “don’t” in such a low voice he doubted Rose could hear her. Soon enough a man appeared from the woods, dressed in lose trousers and a lose shirt, with a bow similar to his own slung across his shoulders and a quiver. He held a quarterstaff and had a knife at his belt, his light pack suggested he lived in the forest. The man stood in the path looking at the group waiting for something. Thea took a step back behind him. He invoked the name of the wolf god, god of the hunt.

(In Mith'ganni ) “ Tsmúkan oel ngati kame.”

He addressed Rose, and then the man and the wolf.
(In Alcanese) “Lower your shield Rose. We’ve fled Vyrrmas with a price on our heads, we seek a place to hide.”

Not the full truth but close enough.

EDIT: Please don't feel that you have to rush with posting, I'm just explaining why sometimes I come onto the inn and do not post.

Before I post can I make a knowledge nature check?

Check for, although this obviously isn't natural, if the wolf is a natural wolf and or if it's under some kind of control.

And I'd also like to know if it's likely that my character would have come across something similar in his clan or if there was a childhood story about this wort of thing.

It would just streamline the posting slightly if you judge this to be a free action.

I'd like to apologise, that was rude and brash.

The Mith'ganni are your creation and so is your game, you should be included in every RP decision that affects how one of your creations is portrayed.

For that reason I would like your permission to continue using Na'vi as the Mith'ganni firm of elvish.

The small cloaked figure started when he approached her and a biscuit she had been eating soon disappeared.

"I... I didn't think you would come after all that you said." Her voice was a bit shaky but quiet and soothing. A tiny smile played on her lips though as she spoke to him, tumbling a crumb down her chin.

"I'm not complaining though. You are a Twilight elf... right? I cannot say I've really ever met one of your people before, seen a handful perhaps but I don't think I've ever spoken to one. I know... you don't think I should be here. But..." she sighs a little, "but I am following what my heart says, and I pray that the Goddess guides that. Of course my stomach... thinks that I am insane." She laughs, but it hollow through the tears that threaten to overwhelm her blue eyes again.

"I listen to my heart though, and that's why I'm glad you decided to come. It says I can trust you. Oh..." another laugh and the tears are held at bay, for now.

"I'm Thealora Justinia." She smiles a little and holds out her hand to him. "I would offer you some elven greeting, but I'm afraid I know none, so I am forced to offer you this human greeting."

Éofara took Thealora's hand, just held it lightly without shaking it, and bowed his head to her.

(Mith'ganni) "Oel ngati kameie"

He straightens up.

(In Alcanese) "It means 'I see you', but it's a crude translation."

He said kindly before pausing, wondering about what he's going to say next.

(In Alcanese) "I'm called Éofara, it means Horse Traveller. And you shouldn't have come, you should have run away from here."

His last sentence was markably sadder then the previous one, he was no more than half a foot taller than the girl and his silver hair caught the light in contrast to her bright red hair. He was glad he could be trusted, even if she would grow to dislike what he would need to do to keep her safe end the group fed.

Perhaps she wasn't so young though, so young by elven years but near adulthood for a human maybe, and she just had a youthful appearance. Not unlike himself, over a century old but timeless in all but his eyes.

(In Alcanese) "I am one of the Mith'ganni, a Twilight elf as you call us, and I'm not surprised you haven't met one before. We stay away from your world and our numbers dwindle. We're people of the horse and bow, your stomach won't think your insane for long."

(OOC: Anyone feel free to interject at any time, I don't keep to a posting schedule at all so just jump in when you feel its suitable. Of cause, I don't need to tell you this, it just makes me feel I'm not paying all attraction to one PC)

As I'm playing a new type of elf, one who hasn't got a language already associated with it and who's language is probably only spoken and not written, can I use Na'vi?

EDIT: I don't care what you think about me using Na'vi actually, it's how I choosing to RP my character.

Please check out the site (http://www.learnnavi.org/) for help on the pronunciation of the language.

The man had answered him in his own tongue, he wasn't surprised to hear it as he'd always thought that he'd be able to speak Mith'ganni. It wasn't the man's place to put such offers before them, it was an abomination that this man was also trying to justify this. Unfortunately he had no choice but to do what he must.

The man threw a bad of tea on the table, something he hadn't come across before but Anora knew what to do with it.

(In Mith'ganni) "I think those leaves are meant for me.

He spoke in his own tongue and in his normal voice.

"There is much to be done, and little time to do so.. I realize there is little reason to place your lot in with each other before you, but we are united by a commonality we cannot deny... survival. There are more questions than answers, and Mr. Vale may be the only one to shed light upon the veil cast over our lives. I cannot prophecize about what your mind's are telling you, nor will I be so bold as to openly proclaim what lies in yonder hearts. However, it lies within my gut that our answers lie in Erkand Vale, and the start of the path to claim those answers lies in the ruins he mentioned. s such, I will be at the previously stated rendezvous outside the gates in two hours time. I beg you all to consider what's at risk, and join me then and there.. We come from different worlds at first glance, different races, religions, and lifestyles, but perhaps it is our differences that will unite us, perhaps it is our uniqueness that will strengthen us. They say the Syln line their bows with many layers of different woods to maximize flexibility and strength, and good Dwarve's I know your kind are the masters of metallurgy and the combining of ore and mineral into unrivaled goods. I beg you all to look within, and let us be as one on this journey the fates have placed us on, stronger together than apart."

He already knew what he had to do, he stood silently apart from the rest of the group, detatched and thinking. He knew his duty, not a duty to some god or order, a duty to his family, his race and his kind. He was perhaps the only one of the group who would honor the dead, not smite them or kick their bodies aside.

Éofara waited for the last of the group to leave and then left himself, he returned to the inn. He donned his armour and quiver, bow and belt and axe and sword, pulled on his backpack and placed a couple of gold coins in the bowl. He crept from his room and out the inn, he walked across the square and out to the rendezvous point. Once he got there he looked for somewhere to set up camp, somewhere out the way where he couldn't be spotted from the town. He slept in his tent, four hours of sleep under the stars.

After he woke up, not in the morning as it was still night, he packed up his tent and camp under the light of the moon and the stars before walking to the exact meeting point. Laying down his backpack he moved a boulder or log so he could sit at the meetings point. He waited of the others to arrive and fletched some more arrows, hunting arrows, arrows to kill.

CO[2] doesn't form any kind of strong acid, in fact it's very weak acid and rain is naturally acidic from CO[2] anyway. Besides that point I live on chalk grassland anyway so the acid is neutralised. HA

Your interweb works perfectly, in fact you have the best fastest connection in the world, but only between the hours of 12 midnight and 1 am.

OK, I live in the UK which is one of the worst prepared countries when it comes to snow.

Seriously, an inch brings us grinding to a halt.

I have had well over half a foot this evening where I live, I'm snowed in and the bus can't get into town thanks to a big hill. I'm not going to run out of food or anything but looking at the phone lines it's likely that I will lose Internet access, if they go down it'll be for quite a wile as well.

If I do go inactive it is not because I don't like you, it'll be because my Internet/phone line is down.

EDIT: A friend is coming over from Canada, it'll be like a home away from home for her. Although I doubt she'll understand why so little snow can cause such big problems.
