Ah, dream come true, how do you feel about having your character 'modified' Reralae?

Subject: Location

Might I ask where the starting location is so that it can be worked into our characters' histories?

This is quite important to me as my character is very much rooted on only one planet, a planet with land mass would just be a bonus as I'm not too keen on Kamino or Bespin.

It would seem that information was easier to come by this side of the mountains, at home it would take at least a pint or some gold. He didn't approve of what Ielei was attempting to do, he had seen it used before, not being new to magic and it being common in his home he was familiar with it being used for this but had never seen it used for anything else.

He listened intently to the dwarfs tale of the Scotts brothers and there enterprise, he didn't approve of it but unfortunately if they didn't clean the water who would. He was about to enquire about the bandits around the edge of town when they were interrupted.

The two things swaggered in belts at there side, he didn't know what they were but he still drew his loaded revolver under the table, one thing was certain, if they tried anything they'd get it. But they were right, the ale was very watered down, probably not with the cleanest of water, and the food was fairly south of appetising.

Subject: And some information

When he knew they were getting near Cherish Valley he was 'on guard', he took this by taking out his rifle, loading it and very actively keeping an eye for bandits all whist on his horse. He didn't have any gold but he knew that all of them carried stuff more precious then gold, water.

As they got closer to the town conversation seemed die down, at least to him, and so he took his chance to share some wisdom. "Keep ya water and weapons close and in view, it's a scum town this. I hope yous know what sign stop is and ya can mount quick."

As they got into town they traveled down the main road till they got a the first inn, Karn snapped open his rifle and removed the bullet, slotting it into his bulletbelt, and unmounted. Following the group inside after taking his waterskins off his horse and tieing her up.

Once inside he was content to let Nuar barter but it soon dawned on him that they were quite low on funds and having separate rooms probably wasn't the best idea to have single rooms. It soon came to paying before he though he'd bring up a little bomb shell, as the dwarf leaned on the the bar so his head was closer to hers and he spoke in the same whisper as she had employed. "We might, but what's it worth? I heard that Scott's running this towns water, I wonder what you can tell me."

Topic: Despair Q&A
Subject: Ranger Karn Tar

Ranger Karn Tar, although no longer in his own eyes, started traveling with the group some way along the trail through the Divine Mountains but spend much of the time scouting ahead on horse back with his rifle out and loaded. He had said that he had grown up and lived in the area all his life and that he was either too cowardly or sensible to venture west alone although the more perceptive of the group would notice this is more an excuse hiding another reason and that he wasn't a stranger to this path. He said that he had been a ranger but had been discharged for, in his exact words, "Getting a bit drunk."

He seems an agreeable character, if a bit weary, or even paranoid but that's excusable with his previous occupation, he's average height with dark brown eyes and unkempt shortish brown hair. He's sort of handsome in a rugged way and quite charismatic but not overly attractive, he's in the habit of smoking after meals, one he has explained is due to a weakly allowance, and is a defensive fighter.

From what you've seen of him he prefers to stand to the back and to take careful shots with his Burnside carbine or to fan his revolver so that it dispatches servile at a time. If fights resort to melee then he draws a saber and takes a defencive stance till be can get a good hit with his revolver or the sword. One thing that can be said is that he is a superb shot with his carbine and very quick on the draw.

Most of his equipment is carried but the horse, you haven't yet learned it's name and you suspect that it doesn't have one. Beacuse of this when he's resting the horse or letting someone else ride it leaves him free and mobile so that he is ready to react quickly. He also seems to have some lose code of morals left over from his days as a ranger ...
[and got a bit 'nasty' with everyone when he couldn't find his cigarettes for two days on the trot before it was found they were at the bottom of the saddle bags. His clothing is, although once fine, now rough from days in the hot sun. He also practices with his carbine almost every day and as a result he is running out of bullets for it. Please note that both his revolver and carbine use bullets as we would recognize them, neither need powder to operate.] (I have only listed this as I have run out of time and intend to put it into proper paragraphs for ease of reading)

NOTE TO THE GM: Karn's Gun skill with rifles needs to be changed to carbines and I will send you a second more accurate description of his exploits in the divine mountains.

I resent that comment, but now this game has become a lot free-er, almost free form, I whole intent to rewrite him completely. He'll still be Karn Tar but just a different Karn Tar

thanks to the links and help you two gave me I am now on my way to a good long read.

My character was aways going to be non-magical so I guess its the mundane class thing for me as well.

But I think we should have the others decision on this before we decide what type of RPG

I'm unfamiliar with both systems, probably would find 4e easier but I haven't even looked at witchcraft, but the game idea will still be the same so no worries from me.

But I think you should use Witchcraft, your more experienced with it so you would be better able to run the technical (combat etc.) parts of game better.

Topic: What is Real?
Subject: Oh

I want to join in.

I'm a scientist so if I can test it then it's real, reality, whatever it is, is real. The placebo effect is real. Religion is real, but, in my mind an god of any sort can not be real as I can't test it/him/her/them. And if I could test it/him/her/them then I would prove its/his/her/there existence and the cease to exist as I have proven that they exist and so belief is not needed so they can not exist.

If this doesn't make sense to you then don't worry, and yes, it's very similar to the "Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy"'s view on God, but it makes sense to me.

In short this is real. But what is this?

Turning from his 'conversation' with Lorae, it was boring anyway. He had come to civilization and he happened upon one of the least talkative people in existence.

"I shall meditate just over there."
He gestures to a point just outside the cover of the tree
"I think I'll be most comfortable away from the interference of a second tree, you two chose your own sleeping places and I'll stay and talk, if you so wish it, before meditating."

Turning up to face Lorae Lenwe continues the discussion.

"You and Alexandria may sleep under the branch if you wish, I shall meditate elsewhere under some shelter. What do you think of Alexandria? Listen to us, talking like old friends, you hardly know me but let me introduce you to Kethra."
He gestures up at the falcon.
"She's my companion, I found her in an abandoned nest north of here in the woods but she's very much her own person."

Lenwe watches the dance and despairs, since when was sword work and art. It was practice for war and battle and spill of blood and the ripping of families. Yes her movements were graceful and the elves did practice it in his home in the west but still. His silent contemplation was however interrupted by the falcon Kethra, she glided over silently and perched in the tree devouring a small bird she had caught.

Lenwe said quietly under his breath
"A strange thing, war and bloodshed turned into art and beauty."
whilst moving to sit at the base of the tree. Kethra then did something very un-beautiful as if in agreement.

We are, and by that I mean England is, hosting the Olympics. Isn't that bad enough without any doomsday theories?

OK, I kid, I do have some national pride.

I say these theories are a load of rubbish, we've all survived one doomsday, the year 2000, so it'll just be another gesture involving less then 5 fingers at anyone who believes such nonsense.

Having already eaten his fill Lenwe decided that he had little business staying inside the inn but he still stayed half listening to the conversations, it was not until the drow, Alexandria as he now knew, mentioned sleeping outside that he got up.

"I will join you, I had purchased a room"
muttered something under his breath about meaning to if he hadn't
"but I think it will do me good to mediate outside tonight and 'go native' if I have not done so already."

With that he nodded to Alexandria to lead the way whirst hoping that the others had not forgotten him quite yet.

From the road to inside the inn

Lenwe rides slowly to the scene of the commotion, his head bowed and shoulders hunched, a defeated man. He followes the sounds into the inn where he dismounts the horse and enters, and looks at the drow captive from the side blocking the door from closing. He usually doesn’t get involved in this sort of thing, the drow had done great evils against men and elves and dwarves and there kin but now was the time for forgiveness.

(OOC: Everything below this is assuming that the drow captive’s legs aren’t tied)

He could not attack or defend the drow, but he could help her still, in undercommon he spoke to the drow. "I will be able to see you, move quiet and swift."

He then muttered under his breath, in elven, two spells. See invisible, to be cast on himself, and Invisibility, to be cast on the drow captive.

As Lenwe starts muttering a falcon, Kethra, lands on the drows shoulders, the necessary connection between Lenwe and the receiver of the spell. The drow herself feels a slight weight on her shoulder and a light tingling sensation as her body disappears and Kethra turns invisible as well and flys off.

The elf slowly turns his horse to follow Kethra as she makes her way back to the town, it's a much slower and sad journey. His passion has had to be reigned in, he knew of the dangers of traveling alone and now knew why people might do it despite the warnings, being a part of nature meant following your fear and instincts, this was by far the most unnatural thing he had done.

(When they arrive back at the town, before entering the inn, he bids farewell to Lorae telling her that he will be on the green in the morning and that all they'll need to do to call him is exactly that. He'll then walk a short way into the woods and sit quietly thinking. When night come he will go and sit in the center if the village green and cast tree shape to form a tall, thick trunked Yew and begin his 4 hours of meditation, elves meditate instead of sleep and he has found a way to do so in the trunk of a tree of his own creation.)

As Lorae rides after him he spurs his steed onwards but it's no use, she is catching up quick and soon they are equal and slowing. He wishes he could have continued to Tilverton and onwards south from there but it wasn't to be. "Yes." he said almost hotly "I must see it for myself, I have to see Tilverton."

How could he expect this intruder to understand, he wouldn't mind if his children die natural deaths so they were committed to the earth, but his son had been snatched away from him by magic. His body and soul was lost to the physical world. He resented himself, why had he gone to Peldans Helm instead of staying closer. Why had he studied that which had taken his son away from him.

Kate, looking over the ships schematics for the first time finds something amiss. The ship can be controlled external it would seem, but where would it be controlled from. And then it clicks, KTI!

This'll set back the repairs if this warrants investigation, maybe even removing it if that can be achieved. The first will only set things back by a day, a total time of 12 days. The latter will extend the repair process to 13 days.

Lenwe, his face suddenly drained of all colour, looks Lorae straight in the eye. The intensity of his stair unnerving, not know what this stranger will do in such a situation makes it even more so. He sees no reason to lie in her eyes and no lie in them, it's true, the blood pounds in his head as he makes his decision in a split second. Standing up abruptly, knocking the table and his goblet over in the process, he half runs to the door. There is no way he can travel by means of magic, but he has no horse, yet.

As soon as he is out of the inn he summons his companion, such a spell needs them both for it's completion, not long after a chestnut stallion charges out the woods, it seems a good horse, a charger, just what he needs. Mounting in quickly with the stirrups and saddle that were on it's back already he urges it out of town, full tilt towards the junction, towards Tilverton. He knows he can not get their this day, and probably not the next but he must go there.

His companion flying overhead, to the side, outstripping the horse and back again, seemly enjoying the fast flight but the bond that attaches the bird and the elf is strong now and neither of them can ignore the panic, the disbelief, the hope and the crushing despair.

“So your from Tilverton?”

Turning to face Vatta he answers her question fairly simply. "No, I am from The Kings Forrest, my son simple moved to Tilverton as my daughter moved to Suzail last I knew but she has never stayed in the same place for long, they don't share the same love for the wilderness as I do. Why should I expect them to? They are only half elf and were raised in a city." Already having eaten and with only his goblet to occupy him otherwise he lifted it to his lips and drank. Thinks were a lot simpler when people were trusting, you would only have to mention you were traveling the same way and they would offer you their company. "If you are worried about thieves or murderers I can assure you that I am neither." He added although he knew it would not convince anyone that he wasn't, but there was a glint in his eye that told you that he was telling the truth.

Subject: Sorry it's late, The ShipJackers

Just as the code is punched into the control panel all hell lets lose even though the effect to our heroes is minimal in comparison, if a little unfortunate.

In less time then it takes for even Kates processors to comprehend whats happening the room deadlocks, all exits and entrances are immediately covered with thick durosteel and a tiny device pops up through the floor, an explosive, one powerful enough to decimate everything in the room, rather less dramatically it begins to count down.

Fortunately enough the hanger door is not blocked, the giant shutter is jammed with just enough space to fly the ship through. The heroes take it, their way out. As they just get out of the hanger in the ship the device explodes, a shock wave punches into the back of the ship leaving a large and visible dent, damaging the engines, this ship wont be able to get far but that punch was all that saved them from the fireball that sped out the hanger door.

Once the ship is back under control, and with the passengers decided that they have caused enough mayhem and that they can't make it into orbit they decide to fly to the old hanger. It used to belong to the smuggler they used to work for and has all the equipment to repair the ship, and plenty of droids to do it. It's only a short flight but just before landing in the subterranean hanger the engines give out totally, not the best landing but nothing breaks and the shipjackers are now out of harms way, sort of.

Before they can continue their lives they need money though, for money they need a ship, the ship is broken. It'll take the droids two days to fix it but at least that gives a chance to find some work to do once they have a ship.

The city is a typical smugglers haven, finding a job wont be hard, even if it is just delivery boy/girl.

After his questions had been answered Lenwe seemed to go into a slump, bent over the table nursing his drink, to anyone that didn't know him it would seem like the few drop of liquid had bested him. In fact this was the way he liked to think, in this state he was able to blank out most distractions and concentrate. His mind, although trying to figure out this 'other world', wandered west to Tilverton, to his son. It had been so long since he had seen him but when he did it aways saddened him that his son shall die before he dose and at how time had already ravaged him.

He only sat up when he heard the word 'hunting', it's effects were quite visible. He sat almost completely upright immediately and watched Xuor and Brianna out of the inn, a druid he might be but he was unconcerned with small amounts of hunting, he was concerned for his friend Kethra, it has been more than once she's been shot and it physically pained him when it happened. He hoped the two would not be after such food.

He then turned to Lorae, the first of the group to question him. "I've made my home in the woods here, the balance was in great need of restoration when I arrived and so I set about my work. Things are back to more or less what they should be now, it's time for me to move on." He takes a large sip of his drink, he isn't an drunkard, it's just something to do between talking. "I want to see my son in Tilverton, it has been so long now. Perhaps I could join you and your group, I was going to leave at first light tomorrow but there is safety in a pack."

Outside Kithra was enjoying herself a bit, she amused herself by flying just low enough for the children to reach her but aways too fast for them to catch her. Eventually she perched on the roof of the building opposite the inn, she knew Lenwe was in there but she could not enter, a door it a big problem for a creature without hands, and so she stared at the door.
