Subject: A Name

That was it, the elfs name was Elandra, and he had to say he did not agree with her, the more information they had the better they could decide how to do about this. They'd have to go about it but they stood a better chance of acieving their goal if they had all the information, a ballance between swiftness and information found would be needed but they knew too little to confrunt them. He was well aware of how tall he was compaired to some others but he had to suport the shortest member. In backing of Efferi he spoke to Elandra

"Personally I agree with Efferi, but there is only so much we can learn without facing the thieves, or at least whoever they've hired."

Truning to Drizzt who had spoken to him quiety earlier he wishered something to him before finnishing with.

"We should show some curtasy before the king."

Subject: Questions

Standing in the kings court they must look very odd, a halfling, a drow, an elf and a raptoran, they'd look even odder when the halforc arrived. He found himself wishing the Warchief was present, he would know what questions to ask, he was always consulted before the flock entered into a fight or when forces wished to cross their lands, he always used to say 'The courage of the leader decides the battle, not numbers or arms.' although how true this saying was is unsure, and the flock had the benefit of the elite of all warriors, the Stormtalons and the Skypledged.

Efferi was right to ask about who might be organising the thieves but more questions needed to be asked, the first about how the statuettes where kept safe and how the king knew them to be at the Ankhol ruins.

"Your majesty, how were the statuettes kept safe? Were they hidden or locked up? Maybe some protective magic or device was used?"

He waited for the kings response to his first questions then continued to his second and third.

"How do you know them to be at the Ankhol ruins? And is it possible that you are sending us into a trap?"

Maybe some light could be shed on the nature of the group before they went face to face. Perhaps it was rash and unlike his better nature to go into such a thing without debating it or having full and prior knowledge. But it was mid-spring, the children would hatch soon and although he had none of his own this season they would need food and protection. Raptorans are always a bit rash around spring and early summer.

Subject: To the castle

Hunter gave a small laugh at Efferi's comment, the halfling had shrugged off the drows affront with surprising speed. Hunter sensed a more sinister, dangerous side to Efferi then the joyful front then they had so far seen. The elf, for her name still evaded him, was harder to judge but she was not as willing to give all people as much of a chance as he was. He swiftness of judgement troubled him as they were both long lived but he seemed to look more to the future then she did, hopefully the group will be able to debate things between then rather then following one person. The elf was certainly putting herself forward as an authority figure in their little group already.

"Yes, into the castle."

The raptoran then followed the drow into the castle courtyard, those high walls were so tempting, it had hardly been a day since he had glided down from something but his lust for flight, to be in his element, was so great that he couldn't help but want to climb them.

With the drow walking away, he didn't deserve being called by his name. As he had proved he was different or better then his own kind, OK maybe he hadn't tryed to kill them all yet but he was still just as bad as them. He was tempted to watch the drow as he walked away towards the castle, traveling with him would be intolerable and in a normal situation he would return to his flock to debate what he should do. Should he risk his life twice by going on this mission and going on it with the drow? Should he confront the king and request that the drow not be permitted to come? Should he take the next opportunity to alleviate the problem himself? Or should he wait and be ready for the drow's next action?

There wasn't the time for a discussion as they were meeting with the king imminently and he was not permitted to return to his flock. He didn't yet trust the others to talk openly about the subject so that wasn't an option. Maybe the most prudent course would be to warn the drow about what would happen if he stepped out of line but then the female elf wouldn't... he wasn't meant to have relationships before he completed the walk.

Walking over to in front of the halfling he reach down to pull him up, a hand, if needed or not, is something usually well received. In the process of doing this he mouthed a few words so that only Efferi could see what he was saying. They were not for anyone else.

(OOC: His words are really not for anyone else so I'm PMing them to Bezmir himself.)

Subject: Halflings and Drow

The advise from Efferi soon proved very true as the drow shoved the halfling to the ground, his true colors had been shown, the drow could not be trusted so it was just as well that he himself was nocturnal like the drow was subterranean. There had been no warning and no time for mediation, this was a time for action and by his judgement the drow was a risk to them all.

He did not however draw his weapons, this was a show of might, a threat, and although the halfling should watch his words there was no need for it. But he'd be ready, he knew which quarter danger would come from if there was infighting. It was good of the elf, although her name could still not be recalled, to stop this but he himself wouldn't, he just stood where he was watching the action unfold, judging them their own actions. Besides, he couldn't fight well with the bow on his shoulder.

If the drow didn't put his weapons away and turned on the she elf then he would have no choice but to intervene.

(OOC: I'm readying an action, if Drizzt doesn't sheaf his weapons and turns on the elf then Hunter will draw his own weapons)

I should also say that I think I'm having some problems comunicating who my character is talking to. Is this right and would you like to to enclude some sort of stage direction?

Not far from the castle the half-drow approached the small group, he spoke to them for a short wile before leaving them for the castle. Efferi tailing him and eventually asking a question that would give a revealing answer if he could be trusted to tell the truth. Next time the half-drow comes over to talk his 'knowledge' about the raptoran race will need to be corrected as they had not king and half-breeds were not frown upon and certainly did not have the power to shape shift.

Turning back to Elendara, he had no wish to follow the halfling or drow, he explained to her the meaning of his phrase.

"It means 'A mind opened by wonder is clearer then one closed by belief.' It's tuilvilanuue, a phrase common among my people reminding us to always seek a new view on everything.

He shifted his bow from his hand so it rested over his shoulder, he wouldn't be able to open his wings without knocking it down and it was visibly an awkward place for it to be. He then added an afterthought.

"Would you be able to teach me your language? I've wished to learn elvish for a wile. I'd be willing to teach you tuilvilanuue if you wanted."

Just as himself and Efferi had passed the Arborus guild when the elven champion exited, he couldn't recall her name but they were close to racial kin and they shared a racial heritage. Both races hated Loth and her followers, something they would have to overcome.

"Your traveling very light I see. I wish I was able to travel as light as you do."

It was an invite into the conversation, quite forward for his race. He was making the effort to include the halfling and elf in conversation, they weren't friends but companions and will still have to prove themselves but why should this be coldness. He'll have to see how they act about the drow and half-orc, he had never seen their kind before but they were savage races, to be treated with more caution then other races might, even more then the elves do. But...

"Menti lintu onlita op avel dontila venila."

Just to say,

Anyone feel welcome to join me and Bezmir RP on our way up to the castle. I don't want us to to rule the in game RP so early in the game so join in and don't get left out because if you don't join in yourself then your most likely to just be left out.

My character can only include Elendara in RP as the elf is the only other character he would naturally associate himself with, not saying anything against Half-Drows or Half-Orcs but they are not the type any raptoran is likely to associate him/herself with.

Names, his name was Lenwë Helyanwë but it wasn't custom to reveal it to people out of his flock. It was customary to use your nickname outside the flock so he was annoyed when his guild had used his real name instead of his nickname, not a name exactly chosen but rather one that had stuck with him since childhood.

"Just call me Hunter. That was my nickname in my flock."

Respecting elders and superiors was something a lot of importance was put on in his flock and although it wouldn't be right to try to get other people to do this he still speak his mind.

"We should respect superiors regardless of our own opinions."

Subject: Looking down

Looking down at the little guy, it's not like he had much choice being 6 foot and halflings averaging 4 foot, he found he had great respect for him, more so then any other landbound. Efferi was accomplished enough to be chosen as his guilds champion over all others, the halfling race was plentiful but he had no doubt had to live with being the little guy in a city which could be a difficult situation. Something they might have in common, raptorans were tribal people, small tight communities, even his flock which was so close to the city shunned the city for their own way of life and it was difficult for Lenwë in such a situation. To have to walk, although not an embarrassment, felt strange to him.

"Yes, you must be Umbra Guild's choice. Efferi wasn't it?"

This wasn't a question that needed answering, he knew but he though he would ask so that he could at least try a conversation. In truth he pitied the halfling, no more so then any other landbound race and those who had to fly n his guild's contraptions, it wasn't true flight. He respected that many people had no wish to fly but still found dwarfs odd for choosing a life underground away from the sky and the wind and the moon.

He then decided to add that they should get moving to the castle. It's not courteous to keep your superiors waiting so he tried to steer them in that direction.

"We should walk towards the castle, we shouldn't keep the King waiting."

Having talked to the diminutive gnome he'd managed to get one of the items he'd asked for, an insect bane candle, it didn't seam that she grasped the idea of going outside the city at all. He'd also been promised a Ring of Sustaining as well so that was a huge success, he'd get it as soon as she'd finished it as the King funded the guild when they did things 'right'. It would have to do.

After his strange meeting with this woman he returned to his quarters where he'd only just been woken up from and felt instantly tired seeing his nest. He carefully slipped on his leather armor, making sure to fold his wings through their slits in the back, and strapped his belt on, his longsword and dagger hanging from baldrics, a quiver of arrows next to them. He then packed his sack, a downside of having wings is not being able to ware a backpack so he had to use a drawstring sack, making sure to include his billhook and hunting knife in metal tin in an internal pocket. One man tent and bedroll at the bottom, no blanket, if it ever got cold enough to need one his wings folded around him would do the job just as well, his craft's tools, a flint and steel and messkit went in as well.

Deciding breakfast was far more important then anything else now he took off his belt and made his way to the kitchen where he eat a sort of portage mixed with wild berries or nuts and honey. Returning to his room yawning, he decided he'd have to get used to staying awake at sun-up if he were to live with the other champions, he strapped his belt back on, picked up his shortbow, failing to decide where he can put it resigned to carry it, and left the guild house for the town where he met Efferi eating an apple.

It was an honour to be pick by the master machinists to represent the guild, the greater honour was not that he would be serving the king either, it was the thought that his flocks livelihood was in fishing and that a raptoran would be getting to the source of the problem. Allegiance to a king or guild didn't matter, when the flock was in some sort of trouble they are what mattered.

He stood and listened to the kings speech in line with the rest, he felt uncomfortable about being forced together with these people, he didn't mind the elf, the true, raptorans and elves had always been friends, even if they are a bit detached from the worlds. He didn't know what to think of the dark elf, raptorans and drow had a racial hatred as old as, if not older then, the elves and the drow.

He turned to leave and made for the Vento guild house, once he arrived he made his way to his supply cabinet and gathered his personal equipment before heading upstairs to the head's office, he'd ask for some extra supplies, maybe one specific item and a rather more exotic item.

THERE ARE NOT PLENTY OF FISH IN THE SEA ANY MORE

I have been to see the film 'End of the Line' today, it's very shocking so I would like to ask everyone to watch the following videos and have a think about the problem.

http://www.babelgum.com/3020264/the-end-the-line-episode-1-the-biggest-problem-youve-never-heard-of.html

http://www.babelgum.com/3020495/the-end-the-line-episode-2-the-european-union.html

http://www.babelgum.com/3023399/the-end-the-line-episode-6-the-future-fish.html

It is a real problem, it isn't a worst case scenario, it's realistic. By 2048 we could well have fished out the sea of all known edible species, the date is rather irrelevant however, everyone expert agrees that the level of marine exploitation is unsustainable and Canada has already seen the results of overfishing when the Cod fisheries collapsed due to a lack of fish.

It is however worth saying that we have some strange friends when trying to prevent overfishing, Walmart, McDonalds and G.W. Bush among them. Waitroes is highly supportive of the campaign and only sells MCS fish. On the other hand Princes owned by Mitsiubish and they are reportedly stockpiling frozen Blue Fin Tuna to sell once it has been fished to extinction by their own boats.

Whenever buying fish, whether over the counter or in a restaurant, please ask if it is MSC certified and please check it is not on the IUCN Red List as many endangered species of fish are being caught and sold including Cod and Swordfish. It is also worth wile checking a Pocket Guide whenever buying fish, the MSC one is available below.

(OOC: I've given a few days for any response to my characters actions so I'm posting up the next lot.)

After an uneventful 2 hours on the train he disembarked and climbed the towers with that familiarity he still enjoyed. Sharn was a great city, it's towers reaching for the sky itself, it wasn't long before he had worked his way up to his first stop. An aventuras market that he hadn't stepped foot in for months, there he purchased a backpack large enough for his supplies, before moving home wards where he packed his backpack with various papers and survival gear. Not that he would be able to survive for long on 10 days rations and a waterskin without help.

Having collected everything he made sure everything was in order before locking the door and heading down to the stables, he sold his pony, bit and bridal and saddlebags for about 18 gold altogether. With the money he outfitted himself with some cold weather gear from the tailors.
