I have to admit I wasn't really anxious for either one. I saw Watchmen this weekend and I probably will see Wolverine as well.

Of course, Wolverine has Deadpool in it so I should get excited soon enough

I do know indeed. I've been trying to get other games than D&D into these threads for some time, such as World of Darkness, but I haven't had much luck with it.

Trying new things is great. Good luck with that

Welcome, oh thee new one.

Indeed, the 4th edition has been a bit unpopular since it was published, specially amongst the more experienced players, but that hasn't stopped several Inn-mates from trying to get a game going.

I hope you enjoy your time here and find a game of your liking

Apparently, nobody misses dear ol' me. *sniff*

Too bad then, that the phone company I switched over to were so quick in getting me back my internet connection and phone.

I have internet connection back at home and I can now spend all the time I should be spending on studies here and elsewhere online.

Yay!

Don't think I won't give you a chance at a duel just because you don't have a lightsaber

I'll either do special duel rules (doubtful) or use circumstancial AoO (more likely). Maybe just do it simple and make a new action, 'Guard', that allows you to get AoO against opponents moving through threatened space. It would perhaps be a swift action?

EDIT: For now, let's just stick to having the AoO. Additionally, you'll each get 10xlevel xp just for being active each time I update the game. One post is enough, but more posts increase your chance at getting roleplaying xp.

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques
Subject: AoO

The most important thing to me at least, is to be able to move somewhat around the battlefield. For example, as the rules are now, standing still in melee is highly encouraged and moving around is very discouraged (because of AoO).

I prefer duels like they are in the SW movies. Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader in episode VI, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn vs. Darth Maul in episode I; that sort of duels is what I'd like to see in this game. It is sorta difficult and discouraging when you have to worry about Attacks of Opportunity. Although I find it confusing most of the time, this is the most important aspect of it that I'd like to see some work done with.

I'm thinking about bringing in some Duel rules in case we do not redo the AoO, so that amazing duels won't be ruined thanks to some confusing rules. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears (or eyes, or whatever). Otherwise, I'm just gonna look into it myself.

Topic: What does it mean to be Human
Subject: to be human

To be human is to not be an animal. Is that so much better? If we have a look at what we've done, who is to say that the platipus is not the higher species?

In more (or less, depending on how you look at it) seriousness, to be human is to believe that such questions as "what is human?" are of any importance.

Subject: To answer some questions

Yeah, that "no attacks of opportunity" bit may have seemed a bit less thought of than you may have expected. Your role as the Khil's bodyguard however was never meant to be a permanent one (gasp! a spoiler?!) so anyone getting passed you should not become a problem in the long run.

Assuming I will keep this house-rule, I will allow you to make changes to your characters to compensate for this. One of the problems I have with AoO is that there are so many circumstances where it can be used. Additionally, since we're not using a battle-map of any kind, it is somewhere from being difficult to being nigh impossible to find out who gets an attack of opportunity against whom unless you're in melee. And now I've started to ramble.
I'll have a closer look at it. Hopefully before the rest of the group comments about this, I'll be able to be sure this is a good idea.

10x(heroic levels) is not a bad idea. Much easier number to remember. I would have to look up the word 'incentive' though, being a dumb foreigner and all
I may have to give more roleplay xp then, since I'd like them to no less important than activity xp. Perhaps a standard multiplier? Again with the rambling.

Anyway, I just through the possible house-rules in there on a whim, I hadn't really thought that much about them. I'll make sure I will before next update (this Wednesday).
As for getting rid of the Khil, he will encourage you to get the door open, just to give you the heads up.

And at last, Admiral. Glad to see you're going to be more active now IC
Good posting, btw

Subject: Open Sesame?

The blast come flying towards you as you try to get that blast door open. Benjamin stands ready but there are just too many blasts and he can't keep up with them all.
Arruna gets hit in her shoulder and the blast leaves a nasty wound.
Benjamin gets hit in his left arm, and his wound is no less nasty than Arruna's.
Kate also gets hit, but her/its shield takes most of the blast. Her/Its shield, however, does not have much energy left and few more shots like that might reduce the shield down to nothing.

Arruna works as hard as she can, trying to get that blast door open, but the blast that had hit the panel seems to have ruined most of what she has to work with. During the first two minutes, there is no progress.

More blasts come in, but Benjamin is much more focused this time. His double lightsaber spins and twirls, and not a single blast passes him.

After a four minutes work, Arruna comes to the conclusion that there is nothing she can do to open that blast door. She would need a miracle and she has nothing of the sort hidden in her sleeves. That panel is completely ruined.

After getting yourselves out of harm's way, the Republic squad leader turns your way. "We need to get into that hangar!" he says. "The door should open if we could get to the panel on the other side. There is another way in, if you take that corridor and turn right, but I can't risk moving this many people. You think you can help us out?"

((OOC: The blast door was a difficult one. You only had about 30% chance of succeeding each roll. Unfortunately, you rolled a bit poorly))

Subject: Very well

I will make note of that.

P.S.: I'm working on an update right now.

EDIT: I finished the update (yay) and I must say that things could have turned out better. The door cannot be opened from this side.

To make things worse, Benjamin, Kate and Arruna all got shot.
Arruna is down to 66 hp.
Benjamin is down to 91 hp.
Kate is down to 64 hp and her/its SR is down to 10.

Just to compare with the rest of the group:
Awvoor is down to 46 hp.
Wrrlwarr is down to 55 hp.
(Milix has yet to lose any hp, thanks to his Jedi bodyguard)

Finally, I'd like to suggest the following possible houserules:
No Attack of Opportunities - I'd like to see more movements in combat, and I generally don't like them. They slow things down.
Activity XP - Think of this as bonus XP just for doing something. Every time I update I will give you XP equal to 5x(your character level) just for posting in the game thread. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, but I have noticed that during the last battle, half of you decided just to do the same thing over and over and not post to describe it. Since there will be more battles (I can guaranty it) I'd like encourage activity this way. That way, those of you who actively do something get more than those who do nothing (but you all get standard XP for the encounter).

What do you think? You have the final word on this so I'd like some input.

As luck has it, my personal internet connection to internet outside Iceland (that is, any website that do not end in .is) has been temporary closed. This is because my previously unlimited download rate has been limited (probably due to the country's financial crisis) and I have gone over that limit.

They said they had sent a notice to my home about the change last December, but I don't remember getting it.

I'm going to see if I can somehow fix this, but chances are that I will have to stay offline for few days or until next month. I'm currently using a University computer and I might use it more frequently, but don't get your hopes up.

For those in my Star Wars game, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I will try to update the game when I can, but the updates may come a little late.

For those whose game I'm currently playing in, I have nothing to say since I'm not playing in any game currently.

Until my internet connection is fixed, I'll see you later.

Yes, the improved battlefield will do some good. The soldiers won't improve since they are mechanically as useful as scenery, but it will effect the Mandalorians (they are within 60 feet) and anyone who will do a suppressive fire (attack against defense 10 and lower the Mandalorians' attacks by -2).

So yeah, it has some effects.

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques
Subject: Opening the Blast door

This is pretty much how this event will play out:

A) Like hell if the embassador is going to follow you into the line of fire and wait for you to open the door.

B) I will be using dramatic rounds to represent your efforts in attempt to open the door. Each round will represent 2 minutes of you trying quickly to bypass and fix all sorts of mechanical stuff. You need to succeed your roll 3 times, not necessarily in a row, so you'll probably need at least 3 rounds (6 minutes) to open the door. Natural 20 opens it instantly and you can skip any roll that is left. Failing by 10 or more means the panel is completely ruined and you'll need to find another way in.

C) The Mandalorians count as enviromental hazard in this case. Anyone in their line of fire will have to suffer from their attacks. I'll roll their attack and compare it to everyone's Reflex Defense (assuming you're not in complete cover the whole round). The Jedi's deflect counts and only one roll is needed for the full round. A force point can be spent to deflect for somebody else for the whole event, instead of each round, representing the extra effort. Any ally with range weapons can suppress the enemy (SW 151). Because each dramatic round counts as 2 minutes, there's plenty of time to get every character into the action, so don't feel shy.

D) SR counts, DR counts, Cover counts, the mook republic soldiers do not count.

E) Since I'm practically making this too easy for you, here's a little twist. Each round after the first, I'm increasing the Mandalorians' attack bonus to represent the fatigue that follows trying to dodge blasts for multiple minutes.

F) Since this can drag on, I'm just going to make all the rolls for all the rounds at once and describe what happens after that. Then I'll be giving you XP as is appropriate for the circumstances. What I need from you is a post that describes what on earth you are doing, who has cover, who's not acting every single round and so forth. A nice post IC would be.. yeah, nice. I think I'm giving plenty for very little effort, so don't screw it up

If I'm forgetting anything, just let me know.

((OOC: I got bored so I'm moving the plot onward. Post the list of whatever loot you took in the Q&A when you have decided, preferably before you post here again))

As the group make their way through corridors and hallways towards the hangar, they come across only the occasional refugee and Republic soldier. All are frightened and despairing.

At last the group makes its way to a closed blaster door that hides the hangar on the other side. The group comes from either side of the hangar door, with the hallway stretching onwards on the other side, but also branching outwards in front of the door.

Dozen refugees and pilots are stashed on both sides of the door, with several more soldiers trying their best to defend the door from Mandalorians shooting from the branched hallway. Nothing can stand in front of the door without risking a blast into itself, and it appears a stray shot has blown up the control panel for the door, making it impossible to open by normal means.

A squad leader seems to be among the soldiers on the group's side.

Since I'm at it (and to raise my posting count to a nice 1400), I am going to ask you to PM me again with your destinies if you intend to have them. If you sent it with you characters, I seem to have misplaced them.

If you want me to pick for you, PM me and let me know.

If you don't want one or want to add one later, that's fine by me. Just PM me when you are ready.

Just note that you won't get any Destiny bonus (including the usage of your Destiny point) unless you have a destiny to benefit from. I'm not going to remove the Destiny point from your charactersheets, so there's no need to hurry, but you should know that you won't be able to use it until you have PMed me with your destiny description.

I've been going over your charactersheets and I have noticed that you all have Reflex saves over 20. However, I fail to see how you managed to get it that high.

I don't want to be doubting your abilities to create characters, but I'd really like to see all your defense calculations (Fortitude and Will as well). That way, I can also do some calculations of my own (such as in situations where certain bonuses are lost).

So, calculations people, if you would be so kind.

Subject: Loot List

I would have to have another look over that list to see if there is anything you can use for modifications.

But until then, here's the loot list. Feel free to modify your posts to include any of these if you like (or else just list it here so I can add it to your inventory)

Quickly removables:
4x heavy blaster pistols (3d8 damage)
4x fieldkits with medpacs
4x maces (1d8 )
4x blaster rifles (3d8 ) (2 on each droid)
2x 1 liter bottles of water
2x frag grenades (4d6)
1x ion grenade (4d6 ion)

Slowly removables (1 or 2 minutes):
2x whole or near whole Mandalorian combat suits with extra equipment (checking the extra equipment extends this to a very slowly romavable)

Very slowly removables (up to 5 minutes or more):
2x flamethrowers (3d6) attached to droids
2x shield generators (SR 10) in need of recharging built into droids

Please, don't be a jerk and leave something for everybody. I'm not going to restrict what you can take with you, the listed time is just so that you know how long it'll take you to remove the loot from the bodies. It will only matter if you believe I would send another group of enemies at you after a randomly many minutes

EDIT: Oooh! Almost forgot about XP. Your total XP for this encounter totals 2,000. Divided between the four of you, that's 500xp each and I will add it on your character sheets.
Additionally, I'm giving Reralae extra 10xp for quoting Matrix in the movie ("stop trying to hit me and hit me!"). Nicely done. I'm also giving Loki extra 50xp for using SW cursing. I won't be giving these kinds of bonus XP easily, and overdoing it will just make it worth less. I just thought it was a worth the bonus.
