Topic: Generations of the Requiem - Roman Nights
Subject: And it continues

The three legionnaires looked at Ahmoset with a confused look. "Listen here, woman," one said with an angry voice, "no whore will deny us our right as Rome's finest!"

His hand moved to grab Ahmoset's arm. "I am not asking. We will do our business here if we must!"

(OOC: If Ahmoset wants to avoid being grabbed, I've already made an "attack" roll with no successes. Completely your call)

I have not asked about interest there, mostly because I'm not actively recruiting. This game is open to all those who are interested but I'm not going to hunt them down and ask them about it.

I'm just waiting for more posts before I update. Also, another player might be joining but hasn't sent in his character yet, so I'm still waiting for that too.

I'll understand if the game will slow down due to holidays or exams or stuff like that, so I won't be bothered if there won't be another post in the game until after Christmas.

Oscar stepped over the corpse and onto the train. His smile was literally stuck to his face the whole time. "Don't worry," he said, "I think I've got it fixed now."

He looked one last time at the body of the Infrared who had his brain just blasted out of his skull. He wondered how it would be like to just stand in line, waiting for a lift or whatever, minding his own business and then suddenly be dead. He also wondered what he had been listening to. But more than anything, he wondered who would clean this up.

Any other ideas that could come in handy before I start?

I'll just edit that last bit of my post. Much less work than to edit the whole post.

Additionally, we have witnesses to him blocking our path to fulfill our direct orders.

EDIT: and of course, as soon as I post that, Meri has started editing her post.

I must admit, I have formed a respect for the french because of this bit and I haven't yet seen the first episode. It better not be disappointing.

My point was that none of us had actually said that we had read the manual for the laser-thing-a-magic, so I naturally assumed that Oscar had not read it and did in fact not know how to arm the pistol before firing.

Thusly, Oscar failed to shoot the Infrared in question due to incompetence.
Or, at least that's my original idea.

I've never heard of this until just today. Apparently, it's french animated series based on a MMORPG game by the same name. The game is in closed beta-testing, but the series look really good:

Topic: Paranoia
Subject: TRAITOR TO FRIEND COMPUTER!!!

Oscar watched gleefully as the line shortened considerably. However, one Infrared did not remove himself from the line as ordered. He was listening to something in his earplugs, perhaps he didn't hear what Oscar had ordered. Perhaps the Infrared was testing Oscar's patience. Perhaps he was showing Oscar disrespect. Perhaps he was a communist and too busy listening to hidden orders in the plugs. Perhaps he was a secret agent of Friend Computer who was too busy listening to hidden orders in the plugs involving Oscar's death for treason!

With the same stupid smile on his face, Oscar raised his lasterpistol and took aim at the Infrared. He was ready to fire. But if he was aiming at a secret agent in Friend Computer's employment, he were risking being charged with treason himself. But if it truly were a secret agent, he was already about to be killed. And if it were a communist, they'd expect him to kill the traitor, so if he wouldn't fire the laser he would be charged with treason. He already had witnesses that would say that he had given the Infrared a fair warning. Or at least a warning. Maybe it was an unfair warning. He was hesitating. Hesitation was a mark of weakness. Weakness would mean that he could be walked over.

"TRAITOR TO FRIEND COMPUTER!!!" he yelled in a high pitched voice as he pulled the trigger. Damn, he thought to himself, maybe I should have read that manual first. How do you arm this thing?

Don't be casual in the interviews, be polite and friendly. Smile, make it look like you want to be there despite the fact that the job in question may suck.

I had this same problem when I joined the Inn. Now I find it very simple. Assuming you are familiar with free-form roleplay online, the next few steps are very simple.

You make your character as normal, but some GMs have additional rules that they post such as "no this" or "no that". Still very simple.
After the game starts, you just post like you would in a free-form game but keep open the possibility of failure. The GM takes care of the dice-rolls most of the time, but there are few who trust their players to make the roll themselves and include them unfudged with their posts.
The GM then updates the game with information on how well you did.

It's easy as pie. How a pie can be easy, I have no idea.

As Deodatus spoke, he noticed that the three soldiers didn't pay him much attention. "The women come to us, not the other way around. How about you just turn around and get out of our..." He was about to finish the sentance when he noticed Deodatus's military tattoo. "Oh, a fellow warrior, eh? Why not just join our little fun here?"

"How about it, my pretty?" his words now aimed at Amhoset, "Do you think you can handle the four of us?"

Deodatus may have noticed that Manius does not like what was happening. In fact, he was about to stand up and leave.

(OOC: Both of you succeeded in avoiding frenzy, but threatening three drunk legionnaires failed. Nimu, I hope I'm not making this difficult for you, but your Merit has a drawback)

Subject: ...

Haha, I only got the idea about an hour before opening this thread so I still don't have an actual thesis. One of those kinks I have to work out before starting I guess.
On the other hand, another one of my classes suggested I could start with an essay and then come up with a thesis. Or was that just for the summary? Can't remember. Anyway, I don't have a thesis statement worked out yet.

The class covers Performance Arts in general. Not just acting but also dancing, singing, preaching in church or something more private like roleplaying. Even clapping got a small discussion in class as a ritualistic performance to show appreciation (or something like that, been a while since we talked about it). Games where children play their favorite heroes with their friends is, by the definition of this class, a form of performance. I could just as well write an essay about that, but I chose something that's closer to me at the moment. I really can't be specific about this.

Subject: Assistance with my essay for Performance Arts

As luck has it, I have to turn in an essay for a class I'm in at the University called Performance Arts (the class, not the Uni). The turn in date is on 12th of December, it's supposed to be around 2000 words and I got permission to write about the performance aspect of roleplaying games.

So I seek the guidence of the Inn. I could probably write something in a last moment dash the day before I hand it in, much like I often do, but seeing as it is the only real essay I have to write this semester I want to do it more properly.

What I'm asking for is any ideas regarding material I should look into, what I should avoid (such as detailed description of system mechanics) and how I should focus on. Any help will be appreciated

As Amhoset looked over to Deodatus's table, three legionnaires walked up to her with a perverted look on their faces. They were obviously drunk as they staggered towards her. "So, I wonder," said the one who had the most comprehending speach, "how much a whore -hic- such as yourself is worth to three of the -hic- greatest soldiers in the Empire. Or perhaps you want us for free. Or perhaps it is you who should be paying us. Or perhaps... -hic- damn, I forgot what I was saying. HAHAHA!"

Back at the table, Manius couldn't help but be distracted by Amhoset. "Wow," was the only thing he could get out from his stupid mouth for a while before saying "the imperial soldiers always get the most beautiful trophies."

“Quit your pleasantries,” Manius said nervously. He may talk all big and mighty, but Manius knows who can kill him and he knows not to be too mighty in their presence. “I mean, we have business to discuss and get over with. I’d offer you wine, but you’d just say no like you normally do.”
Manius leaned forward to make sure no one else could hear him. “Some legionnaires came to Rome from Germania the day before yesterday. They’re only stopping for few days before leaving to Parthia in the southeastern corner of the Empire. They brought back something from Germania that my patron is interested in. It’s some sort of a tome which he is willing to pay a lot for. Are you interested?”

Topic: The Christmas Game!
Subject: yay

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper. Christmas is as much about ripping said paper to shreds as it is about getting the wrapped gifts.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Real. There's nothing like it.

3. When do you put up the tree? Last week before Christmas.

4. When do you take the tree down? Late January

5. Do you like eggnog? Never had the pleasure of tasting it.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Can't remember, got a lot of stuff back then.

7. Hardest person(s) to buy for? Everyone.

8. Easiest person to buy for? No one.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? A what now?

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I always forget about sending them, but when I remember I prefer the mail version.

11.Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I got a sweater once from my grandmother. Hated it back then. Now I hate that I hated it.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Nightmare Before Christmas, Home Alone (the first two, not that crappy 3rd or the 4th I haven't seen yet), Christmas Vacation, and there was this old film about Santa helping a little girl to get to her dad before Christmas (can't remember the name of it but loved it when I was little)

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? It depends, but now we finished our shopping last week.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Not sure what the question is, but I have returned a thing or two I disliked.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? The dinner.

16. Lights on the tree? Yes.

17. Favorite Christmas song? Many, many, many good picks, but I specially like songs like Jólahjól and Kósíheit Par Excellance. There are many more that compare but sadly I can't remember all their names.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I go home. So technically I travel. Me and my older brother go back to our hometown to spend Christmas with our parents and younger siblings who still live there.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Rudolph. Seriously, we in Iceland have 13 santas (yulelads in Danish, jólasveinar in Icelandic) who walk to town. They're not as fat as that lazy guy you have sitting on his sleigh.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas Eve. Icelandic tradition to open the gifts after 6 o'clock.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? How early they start advertising it.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Red and green with a little white.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? The dinner. The family sitting by the table, talking and telling jokes. The food isn't so bad either.

25.What do you want for Christmas this year? I stopped asking for anything few years ago. I accept sweaters now.

Oscar-R-NOVA-1 looked at the que with the same stupid smile on his face. The line was horrifying to look upon, it could take a full hour to wait for a lift.

"Listen up!" he called loud enough to catch everyone's attention in the line, "We are Reds on an official mission for Friend Computer. Every single Infrared is ordered to remove themselves from the line this very instant or be standing in the way of justice! Standing in the way of justice and the will of Friend Computer is treason! Now get out of the line and enjoy it!"

Oscar felt somewhat relieved. He never thought that using his commanding voice would be so thrilling. He hardly talked at all, but talking loud apparently made him feel all manly. The smile that was stuck to his face was actually genuine this time.

Take the time you need. If all goes well, you'll be using that character for some time

I'll be leaving town for this weekend to spend some time with my family and my girlfriend's family. I'll probably be able to come every now and then and post if there are any questions, but if I can't this is the reason why. Just letting you know.

"Indeed, this is a most pleasant of day, and I shall add that I am deeply honored that Friend Computer should include me in this mission." Oscar's eyes were turned down much like it always was, and a perfect smile seemed glued to his face. "The imperfection of the communists will be anhialated, and we will enjoy it."

He briefly looked at his teammates. So this was how Friend Computer intended to keep an eye on him? By putting him on a team of highly deadly Reds? The smile didn't leave his face, and he didn't even sweat, but on the inside he was restless. Someone knew, there just had to be someone who knew. But what exactly did they know? Did they even know that they knew? Or did they know who knew that they knew what he knew about them knowing? Sssh! They know what he is thinking!

"Yes," he said, "partners. Friends as well, I hope."
