First off, Valimar, I like your character concept. I read the backstory you PMed me and I loved it. Very detailed and very good. So far I can't see anything wrong with your character's class. There are few things I'd like you to consider.

1) I specifically asked that your characters had served together in the Last War in a special operation group, specially during the last years of the war. It makes things simpler to get the group together and much of the plot assumes you all worked together.

2) Valimar, you start with 5,400 gp. Giant Wasp poison costs 210 gp per dose. For those 20 ebony darts coated in that poison, that makes 4,200 gp for the poison. That doesn't leave much left. I didn't bother calculating everything to be certain, but I want to make sure that you don't expect to get things for free because they were free in your story.

Other than that, I'd like you to send me information about that custom class of yours. When I say information I mean class features, class skills, attack bonus, save bonus, any bonus. I'm not going to allow a class I nothing about. From the look of the backstory it looked like a prestige class and most prestige classes require more than one level of something else.

Just write what you think we should know about the character.

Remember that you can only take dragonmarks that your race can have. I put up a list of Houses and their dragonmarks. Aberrant dragonmark is even lesser than least version if I remember correctly but you don't have to belong to the House in question.

And by the way (this goes to all of you) please include which region you are from. Sharn is in the Breland region if you don't want to put much thinking into it, but if you do want to put some thinking into it you can ask me.

As much as I'd like to have you in the group, I'm afraid it is full. The Masters of the Solar Statue will be starting soon though since I got the last characters sent in.

Returning to the Eberron campaign, the first edition to the Sharn Inquisitive has arrived to the Q/A thread. That means that things are about to start. Send me your characters as soon as they are finished so we can start for real.

Subject: Houses

Note that Dragonmarks are feats, not something you gain automatically. You can take the least mark, then the lesser mark and finally the greater mark. You could also take the aberrant mark but then you can't have the least, lesser or greater mark.

Human Houses:
Cannith has mark of Making and is mostly creating stuff, including Warforged although the creation of Warforged has officially ended (unofficially there are still forges making them).
Orien has mark of Passage and rules transportation and shipping.
Deneith has mark of Sentinel and dominates the fields of personal protection (hired guards).
Vadalis has mark of Handling and is superior in animal care.

Dwarf Houses:
Kundarak has mark of Warding and governs vast banking system over most of Khorvaire.

Elf Houses:
Phiarlan and Thuranni both have mark of Shadow (they split during the last war). Both are into espionage and entertainment.

Gnome Houses:
Sivis has mark of Scribing which they use to make various documents (including ID papers and translations).

Half-Elf Houses:
Lyrandar has mark of Storm which lets them dominate the sea and the air, as well as using it to bring rain to farmlands.
Medani has mark of Detection and offers service in personal protection.

Half-Orc Houses:
Tharashk (half-orc and human) has mark of Finding and focuses on investigation and hunting for Dragonshards.

Halfling Houses:
Ghallanda has mark of Hospitality and has the best inns, taverns and resturants in Khorvaire.
Jorasco has mark of Healing and make great healers. They have something akin to hospitals in every major city in Khorvaire.

Sure Ayrn, by all means. I've been waiting to see how Tome of Battle works in game (only read roughly through the pages) instead of in theory.

Philosopher, you are more than welcome to join. So that I can at least start the game while you are gone for the weekend, a general idea about the character would certainly help (like race and class).

As for you Kaelyn, I have to say that those stats of yours aren't really believable. If I had actually been watching you making those rolls, I could allow them. And even if you had actually rolled them, which I'm going to trust that you did, I still couldn't allow those stats. They are just way overpowering. But I am not completely without heart. I will allow it if, and only if, you lower one of your stats by 2. I can't have an entire campaign rest on a single character with super stats. Sorry.
Also, I have to disapprove to the Background. Backgrounds never came up in any discussion and if it would have I could have told you then that I would not approve it. You have to ditch the Background. Again, sorry.

As for a criminal organization, I suggest the Boromar Clan, the largest criminal organization in Sharn. The Boromar Clan has several captains of the City Watch in their pockets, so getting away with crime is easier. Being a member also gives you several advantages which often appear as discounts on goods and other stuff. The disadvantage is that the criminal organization known as Daask becomes your enemy. Daask is pretty much the only organization who are threat to Boromar's omnipotence in the underworld.
The clan is ruled by the Halfling family Boromar and the majority of its members are Halflings, although anyone of any race can become a member.
Nel's father is Drogyn Escolith d'Deneith, more commonly known as Drogyn d'Deneith. He might appear to the characters, although unlikely due to Nel, or his name might appear in the Sharn Inquisitive.

Subject: Races

Races taken from the various Races of... books have the same level adjustment as they appear to have in the book they appear in. A character of a race with +1 level adjustment starts with only 3 class levels. You can also have a monster race from any Monster Manual. You could play a Drow with only 2 class levels since the Drow have +2 level adjustment.

I haven't given it a lot of thought if I'll make this a one shot or a campaign, but a campaign looks very much appealing. For now, assume that it will be a one shot with the possibility for a sequel.

You roll for your stats. Either that or you have the set numbers 15, 14, 13, 12, 10 and 8. There will be no point-for-stat system. It just annoys me.

Ayrn, this is a workable solution. If I'd know what kind of character you had in mind it would be even more workable, as in I'd have a better idea about how I could unite you with the rest of the group.

Tri, yes there is room and you are more than welcome to fill that space. Welcome to the Red Dragon Inn by the way

Grugg, a bard would fit perfectly within Sharn, but then again a druid fits no less. There is no doubt couple of tower who include massive trees near the top, bottom, around or inside.

Kaelyn, you are of course more than welcome to play a member of a certain House. Might I suggest a feat called Favored of House if you want to use the House's connections and stuff? I think the Elves had the rougish Dragonmark, but I could be mistaken. Just remember the d' prefix before the House name and all is good

Assuming the Craft Point system is similar or the same as in Unearthed Arcana, I'll allow it. It might be different in the Eberron book (if it is in an Eberron book) but I'll allow it anyway. But until I find it in the Eberron book, I'll be using the version in Unearthed Arcana.

You don't need a feat to make poison and you'll follow the normal rules for Craft checks to make poison (modified to fit the Craft Point system of course).

I'd use Craft (Poisonmaking) from Complete Adventurer. I think that is enough to make poisons. I don't seem to find that feat, Poison Use, in my books (I don't want to go through all of them) nor do I find that Craft Point system. In which books did you find these and what page? If I know I might give you an answer on these.

The group looks interesting enough so far. And yes, I will try to include everything Eberron has to offer, including Action Points. I may or may not use much of the setting's story and NPC, I don't know yet. Still working on the plot-line, but hopefully we will start this weekend if all characters are in. I'll add the Q/A thread ASAP, but I think you have all you need to finish your characters.

One of the good things about Eberron is that Alignment doesn't matter all that much, or the line between Good and Evil is more murky. What I mean is that you can be of any alignment. I doubt this little game will force you to do either Good or Evil. I don't really imagine that you'll have to save a kitty stuck on top of one of the towers.

I'm not much into thinking right now. I just woke up after 3 HOURS OF NAPPING!! and I'm kinda pissed about napping so long.
The game will probably aim at being dark and mysterious. Other than that, I'm too tired and pissed to think about it right now. I'll give you a better answer later, OK?

I added more books which can be used for this game. The rest of the Complete books and the Expanded/Complete Psionics are in the clear now. I don't have Complete Champion though, but if I can get my hands on it, hardback or .pdf, that book is definetly in the clear.

(PS: I don't have to be afraid that Grugg will ruin my dating life since I've been seeing the same girl for over three years now. I think it will take more than a panda-like creature with a codfish to break us up )

I've noticed that I'm running 3 games
One of them doesn't have a story and is still lacking players, but I don't think it will cause me any problems. The CotLT game might become a daunting task because it is kinda confusing with two worlds and all. This Eberron game will hopefully have many twists, so that will keep my mind busy. Of course, there may not be a twist at all, who knows

I think I can allow both, although I don't really see a reason for Traits. They are really only there to focus your roleplay, something you shouldn't need. On the other hand, if you need something to focus your roleplay I'm not going to ban it. I just don't see a point in having Traits.

So I want to DM an Eberron campaign. If everything goes as planned, it will include as much mystery as fighting. It will mostly be set in Sharn.

What I need are 4-6 players, no less than four, no more than six. Skilled characters will come in handy, as well as the fighting ones. You can use any Eberron book, any of the Complete books (although I don't have Champion), the Core books of course, Expanded and Complete Psionics, and any Races of books. Any other book must be cleared with me first, although I am very open and the setting allows almost anything. I think we will keep it at level 4 characters with the money limit given in the DMG.

As for background, you all play individuals who fought together in the last war as members of a special operations squadron. This squadron was given several important missions, including demolition, rescuing friendly units behind enemy lines, stealing important information and attacking specific targets. Because of how diverse the missions were, your group was made from different people with different specializations. Today, two years after the war ended, the majority of the group (you) still works together as mercenaries. The rest either died during the war or after, or went their seperate ways. This all starts with an old friend seeking your help.

So, anyone interested?
