Topic: Groovy Juicy Gamesessions!!!!
Subject: This I have to share with you

I was just finishing another session of my group's Evil Campaign. All three characters are CE and more or less spellcasters (one sorceress, one favored soul and one binder).

In a previous adventure, these evil mistresses took over the ruling army of what is known as the Tribal Lands. The Tribal Lands were mostly divided tribes who recently had been united by a bugbear named Groar the Unkillable - who some Innmates might recognize from my dead Eberron Campaign here at the Inn. Like in Eberron, Groar was actually killable, and the evil party declared themselves queens over the Tribal Lands.

This time was different. This session, the girls head off to meet the king of a neighbouring country called Markiin (both the king and the country) to strike a deal with him. Their plan was for one of them to marry the King's younger son, have the King and the crown prince killed, and take over the rulership of the country and the army after producing an heir. To do this, they first needed to seduce the young prince.

Markiin's capital, a metropolis named Everburn, was a city that was built as a gigantic fortress, spiraling upwards with the actual castle on top. Within the city was the temple district, the barracks, the magic school, the great market, and the city's advanced heating system. Homes were built within the walls, and the city's complex sewage system was built within the walls where homes were not taking up space. The city was nearly indestructable, and no army had ever breached its walls, but the city was also very advanced.

I got very short time to plan this as we decided to play only a day before. I planned an adventure where Gnomish freedomfighters were hiding within the sewage system, and striking at slave camps in the city's heating systems to free Gnomish slaves. Because of this the castle was sealed off from the sewage, and was starting to stink heavily. Because of the stink, the young prince had left the city until the problem had been taken care of, and thus could not attend the ball in honor of the visiting queens who could use the event for seduction. My plan was for them to head into the sewage system personally, locate the primary camp of the freedom fighters and eliminate their leader.

What they did took me completely off guard.

They deviced a plan for one of their servants to head into the sewage with a flaming torch that would ignite the built up methane gas all over the city. They of course made a good excuse for not being in the city at the day of the big ball, where many of the most important individuals of the country would gather. While far, far away, the built up methane exploded, completely leveling the metropolis that was Everburn to the ground.

Over 96,000 people were killed, not including children, slaves, traveling merchants, the guests of the royal ball, or their servants. All in all, it is possible that 100,000 people of nearly any possible race were killed in the explosion. Then there was the town that was built around the city, but did not actually count as part of it. That got hit by massive pieces of the outer walls. That could have killed dozens more.

This plan was so awesome, I really wanted to give them enough XP to go up two levels. I mean, the political rulership of the country of Markiin was demolished completely. The king was killed, his oldest son was killed, his queen to be was killed, the high priest of the ruling religion was killed, the prime minister was killed. There is no one to rule the nation or officially crown the new king of Markiin. Three women completely destroyed Markiin's rulership. So of course I gave them enough XP to go up two levels. To heck with the rules that say otherwise. This was too awesome not to

And on another note, they did take care of the Gnome problem

Subject: And one PC down....

As weird as I think it is to attack another PC without any point, Arashi has now been thrown out of the train somewhere in the middle of the Alps.

Shounin, unless you want Arashi to drop out of this little adventure, you can attempt to save his butt with a good Stunt. If you fail the Stunt, your character is left behind.

I'm setting the difficulty at 10, with a roll depending on your description (and of course any Epic Attribute counted). Remember that you still have Legend points and Willpower points, which can be used at the same time. Good luck

EDIT: I should also tell you that I didn't find anything noting how many Legend points you can spend each turn, but I think it is reasonable to assume that you can only spend one Willpower point.

In other news, I'm giving you all 5 XP in addition to the XP you earned through stunting, except for Solon's character (who didn't post and thus won't get anything) and Drakar's character (who is being NPCed by a Tesseract and gets 3).

Topic: Road to Glory - a Scion: Holy Roads game
Subject: What were you thinking?

Arashi suddenly felt someone gripping him and as he turned around he saw it was Cage, one of the guys he thought he was fighting with and not against. After insulting Arashi's heritage, Cage hurled him out through the cargo-door. Arashi knew that he would only get one chance to stay on the train. Even though he could fly, he could not fly this fast.

As Jacob cut through their bodies, blood sprayed from the thugs' bodies and onto the floor. A second later, both of them had dropped to the floor completely lifeless. Suddenly, Jacob watched as two of the men he was fighting with fought each other and one of them was thrown out by the other. What were they thinking at a time like this? Three Scions were already dead, and they were fighting each other instead of finding the responsable. Surely, they were all out of their minds.

"You lot are insane.. Am i the only one who finds this a bit weird?" Eztli exclaimed.
"You would have needed to fight them anyway," Trista said as she tried to hold herself together. "As soon as they would have found out there were more children of the Gods on this train, they would have come after you too. At least this way I can tell you what is going on."

At that very moment, two men rushed towards her with arms high above their heads and ready to bring down some pain upon her. They didn't get close enough, though, as Guy managed to grab them and knock their heads together, effectively taking them out of commision. He had seen this on TV several times before, but he never thought it would be this easy.

All the men were either knocked out or completely dead. Blood covered the floor in the cart, with bodies cut open or broken in twain. Jacob could hear something coming from the next cart. For it to make enough noise so that he could hear it, it had to be at least as big as a horse.

OOC:
Jacob: +2SB - (Acc +6, Dmg 9L) (Acc +4, Dmg 8L)
Eztli: no roll
Arashi: +2SB - Acc +4, Dmg 6L
Cage: +2SB - (Acc +8, Dmg 6L) (Acc +5, Dmg 5L)

Cage throws Arashi out:
Cage (Strength+Brawl): 7
Arashi (Dexterity+Athletics): 4

Wrote the first half as a joke in chat. Tell me what you think

Writer's Blood

Writer's blood is within my veins,
but is tainted by Pepsi and thoughtlessness...
and tv...

Oh, how fate has manifested as a nail
of pointlessness upon my brain,
and a spear through my heart
which pumps Pepsi into my veins.

Oh, if only Grugg and Sept would manifest
in my writing so that it won't be crapish,
but filled with their awesomeness and coolness (respectively).

Hark, my writing sucketh,
and my mind hath turned to mush.
Thou foul beast that calls yeeself critic,
you suck.

Let me be recognized,
as a writer's soul with writer's blood,
tainted though it may be (by Pepsi),
and let not Olan smite me
for not mentioning him in this poem earlier.

Yeah, my final exams are coming up as well, so I might slow it down to once a week anyway.

I did update today, sorry for the delay. I was hoping for at least one more post before I did.

Vorrioch, I couldn't see how Hiram's action could use the surgery specialty, but he managed to stabalize the priest anyway so I guess it didn't matter.

Gerald, Ren got shot. Lucky for you though, the wound is only Bashing, but you might want to note that Ren's shirt is most certainly ruined
EDIT: Got 1 success out of 5 to resist frenzy, so anger frenzy is resisted for now.

Shounin, you didn't post. Poor show, old chap. Start making up for it

Ghost
Longchester Hospital for the Insane

Quickly and surely, Hiram took over Einhart's body. He could feel how he gained control over his muscles and how the bloodflow worked through the veins. Within a moment, Hiram made his way to the medicine cabinet. There were no surgical tools there, but there was something he could use. A sedative shot would calm the priest and slow down the blood that he was losing.

Hiram worked as fast as his tools allowed him to, and within a minute he had managed to stabilize him. Hiram could feel the priest's pulse being irregular, but at least he would have a fighting chance. Hiram heard someone yelling in the hallway and running. Someone was getting help. The priest might actually make it.

((OOC: Since this isn't really a surgery but first aid, I didn't include your surgery specialty. Your attempt was successful however. If Hiram does nothing, an ambulance will arrive shortly to take the priest away to actual surgery.))

Vampire & Werewolf
Loftstreet, Old Longchester

Ren's yelling echoed poorly through the house. The men sitting in their own feces and dirt did not seem to care at all what was going on. It was only then when one of them suddenly stood up with a pistol in his hand.

The man did not hesitate, but shot nearly instantly as he was fully on his feet. Ren could feel how the bullet ripped through his torso and his currently useless innards. The force nearly knocked Ren over, but he managed to keep his footing.

Both Ren and William could hear a door opening and closing from above them, and someone running few steps before stopping completely.

((OOC: Ren got shot. 'nuff said))

So Drakar's character, Jacob, will be temporarily NPCed by Tesseract (for those not in the know, he is Shounin's older brother). It is weird explaining who he is, since all of you know who he is.

Anyhow, Tesseract is going to be NPCing Drakar's character until his return (which I have no friggin idea when is).

Should probably mention this since I think I got some of the players confused. Some days ago, I asked you guys if you'd prefer that I stopped trying to update twice every week and possibly then update late, or if I should slow it down to once every week and get it on time.

I never heard anything from you and so I stuck to my old scheadual. However, it seems that some of you thought otherwise since I only got one post for the Saturday update. I decided to not update that time.

The question still stands though. Would you prefer if I slowed the game down to once every week instead of twice? This time, don't just expect that I will.

Truth be told, I have no idea what on earth you just did, but if there aren't any rules for it I can make some up
There is nothing that you can't try in Scion, so never ask yourselves if the rules allow it

As for the axe, you might want to start thinking about the difference between what is cool and what is overdoing it. Cool as it may be, the pointlessness made it less cool than it could have been.

Of course, when you've explained to me what it is that you are trying to do, I might see the point with the axe thing

EDIT: Alrighty, just figured out what the hell you were doing, so never mind what I just said above

Topic: Scion Character needs Player
Subject: Scion Character needs Player

So the game of Holy Roads is missing at least one player which I just can't seem to be able to contact. Drakar has pretty much vanished without warning, so until his (hopefully) inevitable return I am auctioning his character to be NPCed.

The character, Jacob Costello, is a Scion of Ares. After finding out the truth about his father, Jacob became a wandering Titanspawn hunter for hire. Exactly what kind of monsters he has already faced has not been yet stated. Armed with a katana-like sword created by his father (he stole the idea from the Japanese) and with a relic armor, Jacob is out on his next adventure and the biggest one yet.

The current situation is a train on its way from Milan to Zurich. While on the train, it was attacked by some rather questionable characters wearing clothes like a motorcycle gang and carrying tools for weapons. At this exact moment, the group is facing around dozen mooks, which are literally there only to make the PCs look cool.

If anyone is interested in NPCing this character until Drakar returns, but doesn't know the system, I can PM you with description of Jacob's powers and abilities.
So, any takers?

Do I really have to explain this again so that you can feel better about yourself, or are you just sad that you can't punch out the guy in a single hit?

You only dealt 1B damage, yes, but that means that you could have had around 20 dice to roll against any other oponent that is not an extra.

Actually, thinking about now, I may be doing the calculus wrong. What I have been doing is X/3-Y whereas X is the raw damage and Y is the Extra's Soak value. On the other hand, I might have gotten the rule wrong and it should be (X-Y)/3.

As an example, if your raw damage would be 18 against an Extra with Soak 2, the two calculations would be like this:
18/3-2=4
(18-2)/3=5.333... (rounded up to 6)

I will test the second one on the next round and see how much more powerful it will make you.

I edited the post so that any opponent that you attacked has automatically been beaten. I also added in the technicalities, so that you can see how much damage you actually dealt. In weekend's case, I had to improvise a little, so I did not mention how much damage he dealt. Everyone is knocked out however, so don't worry any more about the guys you hit.

I find it funny that in a game such as this one, you seem to avoid using lethal force against these thugs, even though it looks like you can't deal any significant amount of damage to them with nonlethal attacks. I know most of you guys first hand, and from my experience with some of you, your characters most often prefer using lethal force. But when I expect you to do exactly that, you really surprise me. I guess that is one of the positive aspects about playing with you guys

I'm adding the XP for the stunts now, but I will wait for the encounter to end before I give you XP for actual victory.
I'm going to try to contact both Drakar and Solon and see if they are still up for this game or if I should go look for new players to at least temporarily play their characters. As for now, they aren't earning any XP by not posting in encounters their characters are stuck in.

Subject: Massive

As Cage cut the ropes that held the wooden crates, the crates came tumbling down upon the unsuspected thugs. Two of them were hit by the crates and trapped under them. Cage's claws cut through the lock and the large sliding door swung open.

Arashi kicked into the face of the thug that had come running towards them, and the thug came crashing down on the floor with his back first. In a smooth motion, Arashi landed upon this thug and used him as a surfboard to slide towards the enemies. Just as he came to a halt in the middle of the enemy group, crates came tumbling down not far in front of him and buried two members of the enemy.

Eztli was nearly taken by surprise as one of the brutes came out from the bathroom, but the brute seemed just as surprised by seeing Eztli. In a smooth movement, Eztli avoided the knife hold by the brute, and his spin added momentum to his slap into the brute's face. It was a heavy hit, and it forced the brute back into the bathroom he had just gotten out of. The brute fell down onto the toilet and was completely out of it.

The group of enemies was enraged (although, they looked like they had been enraged long before the heroes got there). They started attacking whomever they could get their hands on. They swung their weapons pointlessly against Cage, who either parried their swings or gracefully moved out of the way. Jacob and Guy both joined in, doing what damage they could. Arashi was is tad bit more problem. He was completely surrounded on every possible side. Five brutes made the attempt at hitting Arashi with whatever junk they had in their hands, but none succeeded.

OOC:
All Players who posted got +2SB, which earned them +1XP each.
Weekend: Beat 2 via crates.
Shounin: Dealt 1B damage to the brute.
Gerald Tarrant: 1B damage to the thug in the bathroom.
For the sake of simplicity however, all were knocked out.
