Ghost
Longchester Hospital for the Insane

Hiram’s words seemed to help Annabell relax, although not much. She managed to lift her head up and to look at Hiram. She seemed like she was trying to say something, but was unable to.
“Hiram,” she finally uttered from her lips, “things are going bad.”

The day pretty much passed on. Not much was heard about doctor Eve Mullens aside from someone seeing her running out of the hospital and to her car. This pretty much messed up her whole schedule for the day, and some of the other doctors had to take on some extra work, which was pretty bad enough already with all the extra work that was available.
Doctor Einhart returned from his couple of hours worth of break. He did not seem as anxious as he had been earlier that day. When asked about it he simply replied that he had not slept well the earlier night, but after getting some rest he felt fine.
Aside from that, nothing seemed out of place in the asylum. But Hiram knew better. Something was hiding in the walls. He could almost feel it breath down his neck, but of course he couldn’t feel anything. Whenever he turned around there was nothing. Was something following him, or was he simply feeling the presence of something new? He couldn’t be sure, but he knew that it was not right. Something bad was residing in Longchester Hospital for the Insane.

So what is the point of waiting for it to come and find you? Better to be the first to strike. And so Hiram began his search for the intrusive being. He began the search in the Western Wards, a whole wing of the building that was still closed due to construction hazards. Unlike the Eastern Wards, the west side of the building had not be cleaned properly or at all. Dust, broken furniture and used needles could be seen lying around, but no intruder. He searched the basement, a dark and never-ending labyrinth for the untrained visitor. Hardly anyone came down there anymore, not after poor old Lester got lost for hours only to be found with less than half the sanity he had at his arrival. The basement was scary, yet there was no intruder down there either.
Below the basement was the boiler-room, a single large boiler in a room that was not nearly as vast as the basement. Back in the day when the Asylum was originally built, it was remarked as a architectural wonder. Shafts lead from the boiler up into the building, spreading into all directions and bringing heating to every room. Of course, during the winter the heating did not serve as well as it should and it could become mighty chilly near the top floors.
During Hiram's time as a living employee, the boiler had also been used to save the trip to a burial office. In the hospital, people were bound to die and the quickest way to get rid of the bodies was to shove them into the fiery boiler for some extra heating. Of course, after the reopening, the boiler had not been used at all. Electrical heating had been added to the architectural design, but it had been done with too much haste and so heating became a problem from time to time. The original shafts from the boiler had not been removed, however, but no one dared near the boiler, if only because they would have to venture through the labyrinth that was the basement just to get there.

Presently, the boiler-room simply stood empty, far below the ground. There was no hint of light down there, not a single spark remained in the rusty boiler. A few pieces of wood lay here and there, covered in cobweb much like the rest of the room. Hardly anything lived down there anymore, aside from perhaps a single mouse skittering alongside the wall. Nothing else seemed to reside down in the old boiler-room, but Hiram somehow could not help but feel like he should be hearing screaming coming from the rusty boiler. The feeling that he had about there being something bad in the hospital, it felt worse down in the boiler-room.

It would soon be getting dark. According to the 'Good Doctor', someone was about to get killed this night and Hiram had decided to do something about it. Seeing as he could not find the intruding spirit, perhaps it was time to start keeping an eye out for the target.

Vampire & Werewolf
Longchester Library

Salomon grinned victoriously. “Please, baron Majere,” he said, “a fellow such as yourself should know that a good player does not reveal his cards. You should not focus on why I know what it is you’ve come after, but instead you should think of a way to get it anyway. The Diary of Morpheus is very precious, if not priceless, but believe it or not I am a businessman.”
Salomon sat down and signaled the two to have a seat as well. The chairs were well made. They seemed old, perhaps from over a century, but the material from the cushion had been replaced several times.
“It does not concern me why you need it,” he said, “but what does concern me is what you are willing to do to get it. There is something I need taken care of, and it appears you have the muscle I need to deal with it.”

Mage
Ryozo’s Sanctum

As Piers mentioned the drug bit, he could see a small facial change on Daiki, a smile perhaps, but Ryozo showed no change. Ryozo was a serious man when he needed to be, and this was no time for jokes in his opinion.

“There isn’t much we know about the Beast,” Daiki then said, “aside from the fact that it affects people from the world of dream. If it punches through to our world then...”
He was stopped by Ryozo. “That is not something you need to know, Piers, since the Beast will not escape its prison.”
“Alright then,” Daiki added, “but in order to escape into our world, few things are needed. Of course, one of these things is the key, the girl you saw in your dreams. The Beast will violate her mind through her dreams, but a ritual is needed to complete the escape.
“To perform the ritual, a special book is needed. That book is the only text that holds the ritual. Thankfully, the book is in our custody.
“The last thing that is needed is a stone. There are six Cornerstones in this world, a direct link to the dreaming existence. One of the stones is here in Longchester, but it was given to a trustworthy third party which hid it. We don’t know where it is and best it should remain so.”

“Unless we find the girl,” Ryozo said with a serious tone, “there is a chance that the Beast can use her to enter our world even without the other things. The process however could take years, in which time her mind will have been utterly destroyed. Either way, the girl’s life will end if the Beast escapes into our world.”

Subject: A suggestion

I'd like to make a suggestion. I think it would be a good idea to change the 'Other Scifi' forum into a simple 'Other' forum. That way, we have a place for role-playing systems that don't fit anywhere else, like Ars Magica, or Burning Wheel, or Mutants & Masterminds.

It really wouldn't be changing much since there is only the one game in that forum (Firefly) so it wouldn't really matter that much if it would be changed from being exclusively for Science-Fiction games.

You can quote anything, as long as it is reasonable for the other players to know the answer. You can even quote Bill Clinton if you like. It does not just have to be a movie, a song, a book or a tv-show. But every single player must reasonably be able to guess the answer. I know four of you are Icelanders (not counting myself) but since Drakar is not from Iceland, you can't quote Icelandic politicians or the like.

If you do quote a book, either the author or the name of the book is an acceptable answer. In case of movies or tv-shows, the character is an acceptable answer (if the character is well known), as well as the tv-show itself. In case of a song, the name of the song or the band counts as the correct answer.

Of course, the more you know about the quote allows you to show off all the more
Those quoting should know every possible answer that is a correct one. Much like the quoting itself, don't give a wrong answer just because of a spelling error.

I have an idea. A crazy idea, certainly, but hopefully you'll like it.

As I hope you all realize, this Scion game is not to be taken too seriously. We are not clinging to realism here since most of the rules in the book are telling you that realism does not belong in Scion. It is a game of actually becoming a God, with a capital G. This is a game of fun, not realism.

And hopefully to make it more fun, and to keep this thread a little livelier, I am suggesting a little side-game. I'd like to call this game "the Quoting-Game".

So what is the Quoting-Game? That is a game where you add to your post a quote, the other players guess who is being quoted and the first one to guess correctly gets a bonus XP. If no one guesses the correct answer, the one who did the quoting gets the bonus XP. There are of course few rules.
1) The quote must be obvious in your post. Bold, Italic, I don't really care how as long as it is obvious.
2) You can only quote once for the game between updates. Excessive quoting is always fun, but will not be rewarded. Once your quote is out, the other have until your next post to answer. If no one does, the bonus XP is yours.
3) Checking websites, like the Quotation Page, for the answer is obviously cheating, but it is not like I can stop you
4) Quotes must be accurate (although not in spelling) but should at the same time fitting to the rest of your post. This is more like a friendly suggestion than a rule since the only thing wrong here is bad roleplaying. The quote is still valid.
5) Although not mandatory, I should know where you got your quote from so I know that you did not just take a quote that has been quoted multiple times by others and then switch in order to get that bonus XP. This is not to say that I don't trust you, but this can also be reversed on you when the other players accuse you of cheating like that.
6) The quote needs to be an actual quote. Although it may be several sentences, quoting things like "no problem" or "GET DOWN!" doesn't really count for this game. "Yippie Kay Yay, motherf%&#" is a good one though.
7) Last one. I don't expect you to spell it correctly, but the quotes must be recognizable when read. Like my quoting of Bruce Willis, it is not accurate but I would count as valid.

So of course, there is no need for you to quote every single time, that may even turn out to be a stupid idea. But if you have a good idea, and want the extra XP for the fun of it, you should do so.
Tell me what you think.

I'd like to point out the other fact about Icelandic alcohol:

Alcohol in Iceland is so fruiting expensive that you could possibly spend a full month's paycheck on one party and still not think there was enough drinks. That often happens anyway, but this is specially true about Iceland.

Due to an event on the Scion's game thread, I'd like to point this out for you. This is a must read for every single player in this game. If you have not yet read this, I urge you to do so ASAP.

The game hasn't even been 'alive' for a full week, and the moderators found the need to edit two of the posts. I take that as a bad sign. You should note that I like the rules that this Inn asks us to follow, and I do not want any player in my group that breaks them to such extend that the moderators are compelled to delete a portion of their posts.

You players may not feel much shame, but there are lurkers that do. This is not a debate, any player that turns it into a habit to have his posts edited by the moderators will be expelled from the game, if they haven't been banned from the Inn completely.

This is not a debate. If it were, I would already have shut up. If I think you have been cussing in any language other than English in order to jump through the loophole of the whole f***ing bit, I will hold back on all your XP rewards which you will then never see. Perhaps it is not a good idea to curse in Icelandic since your lovable Storyteller speaks Icelandic and can skip the XP rewards until you remove those appalling words from your post.

Seriously guys, I don't want to hold back on your XP rewards but you can count on me doing exactly that if I somehow think that you are using foul language in any thread that has anything to do with my games. And I'm aiming this one at both of you guys.

Holy Roads
Chapter I: Beginning

Milan, Italy: 4th of March, 2008; 19:02

It was a dark, yet not a stormy, night. A train was to travel from the city of Milan to Zürich in Switzerland, but it had been delayed for few minutes. The train was to go through the Alps, and should arrive to its destination by morning. Aside from being delayed due to some technical difficulties, nothing seemed to be going to wreck the day.
It had been a beautiful day. The sky was clear, the sun had shone, and people of Milan seemed genuinely happy. It had been a good day to rest, or going out, or do anything at all.

Fate is the power that keeps this world together, and Fate saw to it that five unsuspected men would be in this train. The five were without connection, but sooner than they thought they would be forced to fight together to either save the world or destroy it.

Of course, they knew nothing about what kind of danger the world was already in, or how much greater danger it would get into. At the train station the world did not seem to be in any sort of danger. In fact, most of the people who were about to enter the train seemed very much happy.

At last, the train was ready to leave as the clock turned 19:02. Slowly, but surely, the train moved forward on its tracks. Within minutes, it had reached full speed on its way towards Zürich. Unknowingly to the five sons of the Gods of old, their epic tale had begun.

OOC:
This is the opening post. At this point you can introduce your characters and make a first impression. Why was he doing in Milan and, more importantly, why is he taking this train to Zürich?

Subject: GAME STARTED!

The game has now officially started. I will update on Fridays, but I will wait if some of you haven't posted by next Friday. I mean that I will be flexible this week, but only this week.

So yeah, I planted you all in Milan. More precisely, in a train on your way from Milan to Zürich. This is your opportunity to make a good intro post, but something you should keep in mind when you make your post is

1) why you are in Milan,
2) why you are going to Zürich,
3) how you got into the train with your weapons, and
4) what you did with the things you couldn't carry with you into the train.

Drakar's character is still being worked on, so until the character is finished Drakar can't post in the game at all. It's not much work that is needed, so he will be joining the fun in no time. At this point, aside from Drakar's character, no mechanical changes will be made to your characters and flavor changes will be kept to complete minimum.

So now we got all the characters pretty much ready. That means that as soon as all the characters have been finalized and stuff like that (note that I have no idea what I just said), we can start this little hootenanny. That being said, any last minute changes should be made now, or forever hold your peace (until this story is finished and we start the next one).

That being said, I'm going to be working on getting the Scion game started and so there will be no update this Wednesday (or at least don't count on it). There will be an update next weekend though, I hope on Saturday, so don't rush your posts.

EDIT: And Shounin, as I recall, the F-word is not allowed on the forums. I suggest you fix this.

Longchester Hospital for the Insane

Annabell looked upon the guard’s face, who she knew was in fact Hiram. “The Beast is coming,” she said, “he told me. The Beast won’t let it stop. He is coming. The Good Doctor is gonna make sure.” Her eyes started weeping, and then started to widen as a familiar voice was heard in Annabell’s room.

Laugh or cry,
Laugh or cry,
The good doctor is coming by.
Laugh or cry,
Laugh or cry,
Tonight’s the night you’re gonna die.

At that point, Annabell buried her face into her arms. Looking around though, Hiram saw no one in the room beside Annabell and himself.

Vampire & Werewolf

Salomon Lopez looked upon the vampire Ren, who seemed to be the leader of the two arrivals. Salomon’s eyes pierced at Ren, then at William. His eyes looked deep into them.

“You are not looking for just any books,” he said with a victorious smile, “and you are in fact only looking for a single book. If you have any idea to whom you are talking to, Majere, you would have known to tell me straight what you are searching for.” Salomon sat down and opened one of his book. “That being said, you can not have the Diary of Morpheus.”
